Our visit to **Isla de Lobos** in the **Canary Islands** was easily the highlight of our trip to **Fuerteventura**.
We took the 1:00 pm ferry and reached the island by 1:25 pm. The moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere special. The water was unbelievably clear, and the landscape felt raw and untouched. By 2:30 pm, we had already hiked up Montaña La Caldera, the highest point on the island. The climb was manageable and absolutely worth it. We spent about 25 minutes at the top, soaking in the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Fuerteventura. The scenery from up there was simply breathtaking.
After coming down, we made a spontaneous decision to walk all the way to the lighthouse, **Faro de Punta Martiño**. At first, we hesitated because we thought it might be too far and we didn’t want to risk missing our 5:00 pm ferry. But going there turned out to be the best decision of the day. When we reached the lighthouse, there were only four people there, including us. It felt peaceful, almost surreal. The views were magnificent, and the quiet beauty of that place made it unforgettable.
On our way back to catch the ferry, we chose a different route from the one we had taken earlier. That path turned out to be even more beautiful, with changing landscapes and stunning coastal views that kept surprising us at every turn.
Within just three and a half hours, we managed to walk across the whole island, hike to the top, visit the lighthouse, and still make it back comfortably for the 5:00 pm ferry. It was the perfect half-day adventure.
Out of everything we did in Fuerteventura, Isla de Lobos was hands down my favorite. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels wonderfully untouched — a must-visit if you’re in the Canary Islands.
