We really enjoyed the food here, the fish & shrimp, clam chowder & calamari were excellent. The food came quickly with just short waiting time. The restaurant has its own parking area only for customers. There are outdoor tables with a nice sea view. Afterward, we went down at the back of the restaurant to see the port & boats. Overall, a great spot for good food & relaxing seaside vibes.

Three adults took a long driving trip around New England last year to look at major historic sites, take pictures and eat great seafood. Walking around Plymouth was very picturesque. We decided to have an early dinner at the Lobster Hut overlooking the waterfront on the docks. We had fisherman’s platter , chowder and salad. Everything was delicious.

Google
We love Lobster Hut and have been here so many times. We are glad that they just reopened and we are able to go again! The Fish and Chips are perfectly breaded, the onion rings are a great side, and the fish chowder is delicious, fresh and hot. We will definitely be back soon

Google
Our first eats after getting onto the Boston area -- lobster was our goal. And it's....fine. The seafood is served on disposable plates and plastic utensils, so the experience is very casual...which, well, it's called Lobster Hut, so you know what to expect. Still, we are satisfied!

Google
Best seafood around. Super fresh and always cooked perfectly. The prices are great too if you compare them to other places in the area. When the warm weather comes in you can sit out by the water and see boats going in and out and hear the sounds of the seagulls so its a great atmosphere. Great food and great views. Worth the trip.

Google
First time patron, ordered the lobster rolls and they were good. Limited parking. Restaurants was clean, limited seating if busy. Paid $41 for two lobster rolls and an ice tea.

Google
Best fried platter we've ever had! Said it served 2, but easily could have been for 4! Delicious!

Google
Okay actually comparing this to Woods, where we ate earlier. We liked Woods a little bit better. Lobster roll definitely better at Woods, my husband like the coleslaw better here. Atmosphere better here, sweet potato fries awesome, scallops did look better at Woods though we didn't have any. So in conclusion, this place was great but I'd personally choose the food at Woods. Atmosphere better here for sure.

Yelp
I am reading negative comments about the food being frozen..seafood spoils quickly so must be frozen.Plus there is no air conditioning where the food is prepared. Every restaurant serves frozen food. Lobster Hut is one of the best. That is why they have stayed in business for so many years. Staff can be under pressure dealing with irate customers. They try to push ordering thru fast. That is why they have menus in the lobby.... their prices are in line with what is in season... living in the area all my life,I know lobster prices fluxulate. They are being over fished and not given enough time to repoduce to make them plentiful. Unlike beef, pork they have little control over quanity. Give this restaurant a break. Very possible the other restaurants in the area are not selling as many lobsters so have more. Do some research on fishing and you tourists might learn a few things. They do counter order because it is faster than having a waiter plus it takes up table space alot longer. Lines in the summr months can be way out the door. Orders move fast and tables become available quicker. As far as parking the town of plymouth owns the lot. LOBSTER HUT Pays for so many spaces for customers and handicap. That is why someone is out there keeping tabs on parking. Free parking for only LH customers. If you want a sitdown waitress dinner go elsewhere. LH isn't going to go out of business because of your bad reviews.

Yelp
If you're not a seafood person, get out. This place is all about seafood. But moving on, I love this place. It has great memories and great service. So heres what I'm saying about this place 1. Yummy food 2. Great service 3. I'm coming back 4. You should try it

Aaron S.

Yelp
OK, OK so maybe I should not review a restaurant I did not actually eat at. At least not recently. The last time I ate here, Yelp did not exist. And in all honesty, I have great memories of that visit. But that is why I came here today to share that memory with my wife. I know it is unbelievable to think that a restaurant called Lobster Hut would actually serve lobster but there I was expecting a New England lobster dinner. So imagine my surprise to be told "we have no lobster." It is out of season I was told. Now I am aware that the lobster season does end at this time of year, but having lived in New England for most of my life I have never visited a lobster restaurant that did not have lobster at any time of year. Yet here I was in the heart of New England on Thanksgiving weekend being told "no lobster for you." Fortunately, I was able to gather my senses and walk next-door to Carl's Seafood where apparently lobster season had not quite come to an end yet. I had delicious steamers and wonderful, steamed lobster and relived the experience that I was looking for. Perhaps a name change would be in order to "Lobster Maybe." Then perhaps you could serve something other than disappointment.

Yelp
On a recent motor coach New England fall foliage tour our trip leader suggested we have lunch here. With 48 passengers this footprint could accommodate all. It's a counter service setup. Pay at the counter, then wait for your # to be called. We had declared prior to arriving in New England that our family was going to have lobster rolls wherever it was offered on the menu. Ordered: * hubby had the lobster salad roll * I shared a hot buttered lobster roll plate with my daughter. * bowls of clam chowder soup. Pros: * clam chowder soup hot. Minced clams, chopped potatoes, oyster crackers. * hubby's lobster salad was good size. It was cold lobster on a hot dog bun. He wanted lobster on green salad, but this is what he got. He said just enough. Cons: * this was our 2nd stop for a lobster roll as it was only Day 2 of our trip. At the conclusion of our trip we ate five in five different restaurants. This by far was the worst one. Same price point. $32+ per roll. * food served on a t.v. tray. * the buttered lobster came in a small pie tin pan. You had to make your own on the very tiny hot dog shaped bun. * small portion size of buttered lobster. Too much melted butter in bottom of pie pan. The menu was more enticing than the actual meal.

Yelp
Great location on the water with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating - the outdoor seating has water views. Walk-up counter designed for volume - it's quick and efficient even with a line and a crowd. Price points are about what you would expect them to be for a casual seafood stand in a tourist area - with the bonus that they have smaller portions of things so you can get a $15 or $30 lobster roll. I got the hot buttered lobster roll - generous portion of lobster claws in butter and lots of fries. Was maybe a tiny bit over cooked but that was not shocking given that this is a fast food seafood stand. A good place to get lobster and then go on with your day. :)

L C.

Yelp
The food was good but portions have shrunk and price stayed the same. I'm sure the off season, them just reopening and the cost of food isn't helping. The whole belly clams are the best around. Same fishermen as Woods.

Wern O.

Yelp
TLDR: no frills waterfront seafood Love this place. Order your food. Pick up your food. Take a seat. Enjoy the views. Enjoy the food. Throw your trash away. Peace.

Teressa M.

Yelp
Lobster roll was plentiful, good flavor. Fries come with the basket, crispy and hot. Tea was small cup and mostly ice. You order at counter, pay, then go find a seat and wait for your # to be called. Food: better than average Service: quick, not rude but not friendly. Ambiance: similar to any fast food style restaurant, not much ambiance, but was bright and clean. Location: good, on the water. Large Lobster Salad Rolls w/Fries $33.95 x 2 =$67.90 Ice Tea $2.75 x 2 =$5.50 Tax $5.14 $78.54 cash option Add 4% if using a card $81.68 Worth the price, no, but it's lobster. Would I go back, maybe. Food was good, not memorable.

Matt R.

Yelp
Decent stop with fresh lobster. Orders come out quick and process seems efficient. We ordered 2 lobster rolls, 1 chicken tender dinner, and 1 plate (pound) of steamers along with 2 bottles of water and 1 fountain drink. Total = $75. The steamers were really plentiful, but not the freshest I've eaten. Even after dipping them in broth, they were a bit sandy. Most of the steamers we received were crushed, with many little fragments of shell through out. There were a good amount of empty shells as well. The lobster rolls were good, no complaints aside from the fact that we asked the gentleman taking our order if they came with fries and cole slaw. He emphatically said yes, but we received no such sides. Lobster rolls were a normal size. Lobster was tender and fresh. The chicken tenders were quite big and a generous portion of fries. I also got a fountain soda. There is 1 size, and it was way overpriced for such a tiny cup that is mostly ice. Size was not displayed/advertised beforehand, so felt a bit misleading. Better to go to a local store and get a beverage that way. The day we went (during a heat wave) the AC did not seem to be working properly. Still cooler/drier than outside, but we noticed the thermostat on the wall showed 80 degrees.

Elisa M.

Yelp
This place came recommended by a local, so we stopped in and checked them out. Let me begin by saying this is a casual spot with inside and outside seating and great views. When you walk in you walk up to the counter and place your order. They give you a number and wait for it to be called. I have to say this but think fast food. So we ordered the platter for 2 however it was enough for 3 or more folks. It had shrimp, clams and fish along with fries and Cole slaw. The Cole slaw was a little too oniony for my liking, the fries needed a little seasoning but friend well, the clams and shrimp were delicious but the fish reminded me of something I would get from the frozen section. The chowder was good. We had a lot of left overs but it was a nice day to enjoy a meal overlooking the water.

C C.

Yelp
Ordered the hot buttered lobster roll which came with a small coleslaw and wedge of lemon. The roll is the hotdog bun that has a slice on it and toasted on both sides. You build it. Declawed meat is in a dish next to the toasted bun. More water than butter but very tasty. Seconds order was a simple hotdog. That doesn't come with a side so we ordered a side of fries. All pretty good and we sat outside with a view of the water. Very pretty view.

Matt B.

Yelp
Outstanding service and staff! Had a few places highlighted to eat while in Plymouth but to be honest the seafood was so great we ate there two nights in a row.

Chris B.

Yelp
Date Night with Elizabeth at The Lobster Hut in Downtown Plymouth, I got to start Corn Chowder my Main Dish was Swordfish Nuggets, Onion Rings, and Sweet Potato Fries, she got Clam Chowder to start for her Main Dish she got Swordfish with Rice, everything was so good and delicious, we love it there, reasonable Prices too

Shelly J.

Yelp
Lemme just say this .... It's a tourist trap!!! My Uber recommended this place cuz my hangry self wanted clam bellies and lobsta! So service is nice. The people their are helpful and all, as they should for what they charge and offer. No wait staff . You order at the counter and you get a number. I got a combo platter. A lil bit of this and that. Clam bellies were good, but not great. It could use more seasoning. Too much breading honestly. It's noisy here. Cuz people wanna believe the hype. Expensive for what you get. Would I recommend it? No, would I come back? No.

Hallie L.

Yelp
Amazing food, especially for the price! The Fisherman's Platter for Two offered a huge amount of food for my boyfriend and I, so much so that we had to take a large portion of it in a takeout box because we could barely finish half of it together. The quality of the fish was pretty good and the fries were crispy and delicious as well. My favorite was the clam chowder. As someone who is used to consuming clam chowder from Campbell in a can, this blew my mind away. I already love clam chowder even in its cheapest and lowest quality form, so this chowder blew all my expectations out of the park. It was $4.50 for a cup and just like the seafood platter, I had to take some to go. The total meal came to a little over 40 dollars which is crazy for seafood and such a filling amount of it too.

Jenna J.

Yelp
I have been coming to Lobster Hut since I have been a kid. The food is always fresh, service great and place clean. Plenty of parking in downtown waterfront area. The chowder is the only item that needs a slight more cream BUT still delicious. The fried fish and clam strips are awesome. Love the onion rings! Enjoy you won't be disappointed. Just wish they had Coca-Cola products not Pepsi.

Trae G.

Yelp
Unique setup. Order at counter like a fast food place. I got the lobster roll and fries. Man their fried food looked amazing. Lobster roll with butter was good still had some shell in it. The fries not really Crispy little soggy. I see the potential here. Maybe I just had an off day.

Don S.

Yelp
Lobster rolls, onion rings, fried scallops and whole belly clams very good. Even the fries and hot dog were good. Not so much for the Steamers, which had a lot of sand in them. Lobster bisque was also good. FYI cost extra for clam juice, butter and tartar sauce. You only get one of each.

Robin A.

Yelp
Great for quick cooked seafood. Not the best but decent Smaller amounts compared to other places. Cafeteria style restaurant

Jen W.

Yelp
I needed to catch a boat in an hour. Wanted to find a good spot for a local snack at a decent price. They had the right menu. A regular lobster roll at the first two places I went was about $25. Here it was smaller and perfect for me. For about the same price as one lobster roll elsewhere, I got a local IPA and a cup of lobster bisque to go with my roll. Took my food outside by the water and had a beautiful time. It was hot, so you could sit inside on the red benches, but it was an outside kind of day. Really enjoyed this meal!

Rose M.

Yelp
Highly consistent food. Counter service that is fast and efficient. Listen, I'm that girl that is snobby and prefers table service so I can kick back and relax. However, there are times I choose counter service because it is so worth it. Huge selection of seafood located directly on the water. Prices are better than sit down service with no skimping on the quality. You can sit outside or in. I was craving a lobster roll and I prefer hot butter. Holy cow, price point under 30 with fries or you could get rice. The best lobster meat around as it was so sweet with the taste of the ocean. Smartly, served in a ramiken with roll on side to avoid a soaked roll. I tend to gravitate to lobster hut. I really like the quick service and bonus of not tipping on the full price as this is counter service. Quick service gets me out the door shopping in the newly renovated area.

Mike R.

Yelp
It was so good to be back here. This is the best of Plymouth, MA. If you're looking for an upscale place, this isn't going to work. Yet if you love a reasonable price, wonderful selection of seafood, and ocean side views go here. This has always been a family tradition. You order your entree and sides, and pick it up at the service window. The reason it's so busy, is because the lobster, rockfish, oysters, clams, and haddock are delicious. Employees always are busy, but they are fun loving. It's a laid back atmosphere. Dress as you see fit. Locals and tourists always are here. They also have a good beer and wine selection. Always go here when in the area. That alone should be reason enough, for you to give them an opportunity. It's beloved by the community and visitors. My personal recommendation is the fish and chips.

Sofia M.

Yelp
Cute, local place on the Cape! I got the friend clam strips sandwich--tasty, but mostly breading. The coleslaw was delicious, though, and the unsweetened tea was refreshing. Food came out quickly and hot! Pretty fast service and easy ordering process.

Danae S.

Yelp
I got a small lobster roll, lobster bisque, and a stuffed quahog. Everything was amazing- I wouldn't get the stuffed quahog again. It wasn't very meaty and kind of bland. The rest was worth coming back, though!

Chine M.

Yelp
One of my altimeter favorite seafood spots in Plymouth. It's right on the warf so it's beautiful to look out onto the ocean to see all of the boats and ocean views. Service is rather fast and always fresh off the boat.

Carolyn D.

Yelp
Visited 7/4/2024. This is our place to visit when we want a drive, seafood and wonderful water views. Casual dining. Order at the counter, they call your number and pick-up at the counter. So basically, self-service. The food does not disappoint. It is now under new management and most of the food remains the same deliciousness it has always been. Fried food always nice and fresh. Fried clam strips and fried shrimp excellent. Sweet potato fries very good. The only thing was the coleslaw was different. Chopped up with too many big pieces, not shredded like coleslaw should be. Big disappointment since I love my coleslaw. Prices seem to be in line with dining out in New England. Always looking forward to returning.

George O.

Yelp
My favorite fried seafood place for many years. If you want to add a lobster to your fried platter, place a separate order, otherwise, they'll hold the fried platter until the lobster is ready for pickup.

Alicia R.

Yelp
This was a great quick and casual spot at just about halfway between Boston and Cape Cod. It is nothing fancy but has indoor and outdoor seating with harbor views. The food was tasty but it was pricey. Servings were not shareable. Service was at a counter and then they called your number on a loudspeaker. Overall this was a solid linch spot with a ton of tasty options.

Blythe S.

Yelp
Been eating at Lobster Hut for 50+ years and the food is Excellent! Always was, still is! I've had their Lobster, Fried Oysters, Fried and Broiled Scallops, Fried Clams, Lobster Rolls, Lobster Bisque, and Onion Rings, and Rice Pilaf. Everything has been delicious! Their seafood batter is perfect, light, crunchy, and so very delicious! They do have a couple Non Seafood choices for landlubbers. (Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Hotdogs, Salads) and Kid's Meals including Seafood and additional Non Seafood choices not fore mentioned. It's bright inside with lots of windows, and a patio outside, both of which you can view the Harbor, a scenic array of boats, a picturesque Jetty that's quite long and enjoyable to trek by many as well as have photo shoots in front of and on. The restaurant is setup like a cafeteria. You enter at the counter you order and pay at. They give you a number ticket that they'll call out once your meal(s) are ready. Meanwhile, you can choose where you'd like to sit. Once your number is called you go up to the 2nd counter to pick up your meal(s). Once you're done eating your delicious food, you bring your tray to various trash receptacles, to empty it and leave tray on top. Don't forget to tip yourself. Hey, you just saved yourself 20% off the bill One last thing, what are you waiting for? You know your hungry. Go get some!

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Be aware ,,, when you order a LOBSTER ROLL,,, for $34 ,,,, you will get CLAW AND KNUCKLE meat NO TAIL I ordered Lobster ,,,, dreaming it would be like all the others I have had,,,, and ,, what a disappointment,,, it was only spongy claw meat I brought it up to the server, ( manager) and said,, oh,, no TAIL meat,,,, they said,,, oh,, NO,,, You only get tail if you order the fried Lobster tail !!!!! I didn t eat it,,, it was not at all like any other lobster roll I have had,

Tia B.

Yelp
We were here on a road trip. Was told the best seafood around was by the mayflower and you can't go wrong with any of them. We choose this one because I was wanting lobster and where else would you go than the lobster hut? I got the shrimp and lobster tail combo with fries, my husband not a fan of seafood got the beef tips. I have never even seen fried lobster tail so I didn't even know to ask if this was fried..the shrimp was really good and plentiful there was plenty of lobster as well just not a fan of fried lobster and way to much breading.

Kristina N.

Yelp
After walking all day around Plymouth we were hungry and tired... Seeing the restaurant so full of people I thought that would be a long time to be able to eat, but was quick, the food was great and everyone was very nice! We ate there and ordered take away to eat later at the hotel! Good and recommended!

Katty P.

Yelp
Amazing seafood!! I had the clam chowder and it was delicious. The fried scallops to die for.

Alessandra D.

Yelp
Our favorite place to get lobster rolls when we come up here! Simple yet delicious . Can't beat a lobster salad roll and a cup or lobster bisque. The bisque is thick and creamy. Service is fast. An older restaurant and a little divert but that's what gives it its charm.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for fried seafood. We ordered the fisherman's platter for two. This platter came with fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and clam strip with rice pilaf. Each piece of seafood is large and so fresh and i love dipping the fried seafood in the tartar sauce. I don't know what they put in the rice pilaf but literally the rice here is the best. The cole slaw is very good as well. Literally my favorite spot and it is always high quality seafood and very satisfying.

Margo Q.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was ok. Classic seaside fish shack ambiance. Go once, twice if you like it!

Stephen B.

Yelp
This place is a great spot to order some fried seafood. I stick to lobster roll, chowder and fried clams. If you're with a few ppl who are up for sharing, the fried seafood platter is great - clams, shrimp, scallops and cod. Only thing I'm always disappointed with are the fries and onion rings. Need to be crispier with some flavor. Not sure why adding salt during the process while it will stick is difficult. Other than that I love going here in the summer and sitting outside. Also, quick turnaround on orders even during busy hours in the middle of summer.

Zac H.

Yelp
Second time stopping here, the first time was a recommendation from a local and he nailed it! The food is really good and there are several platters that let you try a variety of options. I had the broiled seafood medley and everything was just wonderful! My wife had the stuffed baked haddock and it was also very good. The staff are friendly, but the service was definitely very slow on our last visit. That aside it's a great place to get some good food!

Jenny T.

Yelp
HANDS DOWN best fried seafood I've ever had. So fresh, so yummy, food was so fast! Lots of outdoor seating, the guy was very patient when taking my order since it was my first time ordering seafood as well. Nice outdoor seating underneath a roof, indoor seating also offered. Fried popcorn shrimp and sweet potato fries were INCREDIBLE (seriously can't wait to come back!). Restaurant also had bathrooms. Definitely worth taking the trip to Plymouth for this, will be thinking about the food here for a while :)

John F.

Yelp
I've been going to lobster hut for decades, although not in the last four years or so. I went the other day right before five and even on a weekend was happy that there was nowait. I love the counter service and seat yourself when you're in the mood for that. Location and view is as good as any of the fine dining. Their seafood is definitely 100% legitimate New England fresh seafood. Prices were great too 12 bucks for fish and chips and 15 for popcorn Shrimp plate is pretty darn good in a tourist area like that.

Jason C.

Yelp
Last time I was in the area was about 20 years ago, the place has changed so much. Had to pay for the parking, went inside and had to wait a bit to order. I went with seafood platter and steamed lobster. The food came out quickly - like within 5-7 minutes. The lobster was warm, which meant that they had already cooked the lobster and kept it in a warm area. The lobster was decent, a lot cheaper then Portland, Maine... it was around $21 for the lobster. As for the seafood platter - it had clams, scallop, shrimp, fish and fries. I had ordered for two person - ate half there and the other I took back to hotel for late snack. They charge you $2 for the cracker, make sure to take it back and get the $2 back before you throw away the trash. Take your food and go outside, grab a table, enjoy the ocean view while eating your meal.

Gordon C.

Yelp
Hard truth...I don't do seafood. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. No picture, they all look the same. So, the group vote. Regular haunt! They loved it. Lobster roll was a close second place losing out to Fisherman's View. The lobster Mac and Cheese was heavy on the lobster. Always a good thing. The fried lobster and shrimp also received high marks. Cheap? Nope. $95 for 4 people. Worth it? If you're a seafood lover, absolutely.

Gary C.

Yelp
Outstanding food great prices family owned and operated the new owners are awesome people

Damien S.

Yelp
This place is a landmark because even after occupying waterfront commercial space for like a billion years, they've kept to an original "clam shack" style service that preserves a classic model at legacy prices. For families, the kids' meals are $5-6, and range from grilled cheese, macs, burgers and chicken sandwiches to fish and chips, lobster bites and more. ?All come with fries and a drink, and are ludicrously underpriced because even though hot dog is boiled with a grill top sear, and the burger is cafeteria grade, we're still talking about $5 for a satisfying kids' meal. For the COVID conscious, social distancing is enforced, most of the indoor booths are taped off, there are ample sani pumps around the restaurant, and the outdoor seating is abundant - we were able to grab a four top on the water at peak lunch hours, and felt completely safe by our conservative outdoor dining standards. For the seafood lovers, I had a hot buttered lobster roll which was served deconstructed - a chick's worth of knuckle and claw meat in a basting tin, toasted butter split-top lobster roll, and sweet potato fries for a $.75 upcharge. It was good, but I think the market price for lobster skewed the overall value of the plate (which was $25 and when I think $25 lobster roll, I think Neptune in Boston). Interesting to note they have a number of fried lobster dishes on their menu. For the fry gourmands, they use a carnival batter - lighter, heavily salted, solid crunch and minimal grease. Wife's chicken fingers were big, plump and juicy, but the batter ran thick in the nooks and crannies for the weird doughnut situation that happens in non-uniform cuts. All good, though, and the the sauces are Ken's dressing cups. Plus, packets of malt vinegar for your fries! It's not haute cuisine, but for no-frills diners and families looking to eat at reasonable prices, I think Lobster Hut is a sure-fire hit. DON'T FEED THE BIRDS!

Laura S.

Yelp
Pretty meh. I thought the lobster salad was good, not too much Mayo. But I haven't had many lobster rolls in my life and my fellow diners said it really wasn't good.

Tina D.

Yelp
Easy in-and-out service and a very delicious hot lobster roll. My son enjoyed his fish and chips as well. This is a pretty casual atmosphere and they have a nice outdoor seating area in the back.

Tina L.

Yelp
Everything's frozen not fresh breading is awful scallops are tiny bay like ones go to Save yourself the money and go to woods!

Adina S.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the Lobster Hut. The line moved fast and my friends and I grabbed a table outside, overlooking the water. The food was fresh and delicious, perfect for an indulgent meal while on a day trip to Plymouth. Next time I'll have to get the clam strips!

Corinne G.

Yelp
We went there last night and ordered the fried lobster. It was so tough and chewy that I had to return it. Terrible!
