This place is very homey inside, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The lobster roll is probably the best you’ll get in Conway, NH. while on a family reunion vacation, we stopped here craving a lobster roll for lunch. We were a table of 7 and they seated us in the room with no one else, so it was really quiet. Food was good, prices were reasonable, but the cocktails could have been better. If you’re in the region and are craving a lobster roll, definitely check this place out!

The food was amazing, we ordered their famous Italian platter and fried seafood platter among other things and were not disappointed, Their cocktail sauce is super fresh and delicious, unlike anything I had. Great chill music from the 80s and jazzy American songbook ones. This place is super popular so a bit of wait is expected

The Lobster Trap is something of an institution in the White Mountain area. The location is off the beaten path yet it is always packed. It's one of those hidden gems that you need to know about. Although we have eaten here many times of the years this year offered something new: oysters on the half shell. These were the best oysters we had over an extended weekend of travels in New England.

I visited Lobster Trap in North Conway and had the spaghetti with meatballs. Unfortunately, the dish was just okay. The pasta was fairly average but i enjoyed the meatballs. The service was decently friendly and attentive once we were seated. However, the wait to get in was very long, which made the overall experience less enjoyable.

Place was great! We are from out of town and the food was spectacular. We got fried calamari as an app the pieces of calamari were as thick as onion rings! My boyfriend got the fried haddock and I got the surf and turf. Steak melted in your mouth and the fried food isn’t overly breaded so you taste everything with a nice light crunch. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. HIGHLY recommended for anyone in the area or driving through!

As a solo traveler, my dining experience at The Lobster Trap was exceptional from start to finish! The warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, offering spot-on recommendations that made my meal truly memorable. The food was nothing short of phenomenal. I started with the clam chowder (with a little hot sauce thanks to my server), which was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. For the main course, I chose the warm lobster roll based on the staff's suggestion, and it did not disappoint. The lobster was fresh, tender, and perfectly seasoned, served in a buttery roll that was simply to die for. Ugh, I’m sad I live so far away from this place. The service was impeccable, with the staff going out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. Their friendliness and genuine care added a special touch to my dining experience. The Lobster Trap is a gem for any seafood lover, whether you're traveling solo or with a group. The combination of outstanding food and top-notch service makes it a must-visit. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Google
This is one of our most favorite restaurants for sea food. Extremely long variety of sea food plates, all perfectly prepared and served quickly with a professional server! If lobster is your goal this is the place. Boiled, stuffed with great sea food stuffing or lobster pie with choice on normal or large size always available. Other great Italian dishes are to dream about and will be the topic of your conversation for days after to all your friends and family. We have never been let down with any visit. We highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or for just a casual night out.

It was a busy Wed. Night before the July 4th holiday weekend. We did not have a reservation and there were two parties totaling 12 people, with reservations, in line ahead of us. We were seated within 15 minutes and the time passed quickly as we had a lovely chat with a couple just behind us. The restaurant seemed short staffed as the woman who seated us was busy setting and even clearing tables. A server came over and took our drink orders within 5 minutes. All the staff were hustling but meals were being delivered, including ours, without much of a wait. We shared the calamari for an appetizer followed by lobster rolls with a generous serving of coleslaw. The food was delicious and plentiful! Our server returned several times to check on us. Upon leaving, we noticed several empty tables in the larger room despite a long line out the door into the parking area. As mentioned earlier, there must have been a staffing issue though it did not affect us at all. Lucky us! It was a perfect way to end our first day of our trip north.

Yelp
Lobster roll is very tasty but small portion for such a big roll. Fries are so good! First time trying, would like to try other menu items in the future.

Yelp
We ate here once last year and had a decent meal with okay service, so we decided to give it another shot despite the recent bad reviews. Big mistake. We walked in on a Sunday night around 8:15 asking for a table for two. The posted hours say they're open until 9, and there were still people sitting at tables looking at menus. No one was at the hostess stand, so I wandered around until an older woman (Ellen, we later learned) popped out from the back and asked if we were looking for dinner. When I said yes, she told us, "Ohhh, I think they closed the kitchen already -- sometimes we do that on Sunday." You think? Either you're open or you're not. Just say you closed early or update your hours. I said exactly that on my way out while she was happily chatting with what seemed like regulars by name. The place was dark, smelled bad, and the whole vibe felt like they'd given up. If you close at 9, you serve until 9. We won't bother again.

Yelp
This place is interesting. Reviews are iffy. The place has a cafeteria feel. Staff were nice. I really wanted lobster stew. We got a bowl to split and it was the most disgusting, flavorless thing I've ever had! It was a bowl of whole milk cut with some 2% and a lobster tail thrown in. Like they ran out and made it on the fly and forgot the butter. The lobster tail was also two giant pieces that we had to cut up. There was more than half left when the waitress picked it up- didn't even ask how it was. Shame. The boiled seafood platter was delicious! The Italian one was ok. Not sure why they don't crack the lobster?! Who puts a giant hot scoop of red sauce on top of a lobster. The seafood on this platter was also overdone. Disappointing! Wouldn't return!

Rod A.

Yelp
Service is really slowww and bad, we checked in 7:10pm we got seated 8:05pm, appetizer came fast but they forgot utensils, we asked but nothing, so we ate appetizer (calamari)with our bare hands. I guess we're so hungry when they finally served our main course at 8:47pm, maybe the reason why I didn't notice if the food tasted good or not. One more thing about their service, they sold out with the soup we ordered but the server didn't bother asking us if we wanted anything for substitute. Instead she gave us extra soup spoons to share the cup of soup (5 of us) .

Yelp
Fried sea food is really good!!! The home made onion rings are incredible Lobster rolls and the Italian seafood platter are okay.

Veronica J.

Yelp
The food and drinks were absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops!! The season drinks were very tasty and fresh ingredients. The service was the best we have experienced in the area!!! I absolutely recommend this place.

Yelp
Not sure why the bad reviews! This place was exactly what you look for in a lobster shack! It says "rustic" in their description. Great lobster Roll!

Yelp
Best fish tacos along with the rest of the dishes ! Exceptional bar staff and drinks . Service five stars . Friendly floor staff and receptionists . Great view and lovely busy atmosphere. I go to the restaurant whenever I am at the cape . I have a house there so it's at least twice a month . Love this place ! Grab a T Shirt too !

Yelp
The Lobster Trap has been around for a very long time, which speaks for itself. We've visited at least five times in the past 20 years, and have found it quite consistently good. Though the name implies lobster as the main fare, the menu offers a number of Italian dishes and other offerings as well. It's uniquely located on the relatively untraveled West Side Road that's far apart from the hectic main stretch of Route 16. If you desire a more relaxed drive along the back stretch of the Conways, stop in for an equally relaxed time at the Lobster Trap on your way through!

Yelp
Wow! How this place gets good ratings is beyond me. The wait was out the door and packed inside waiting for a table. There were 15 empty -uncleared tables -as I observed the restaurant. Looking at the food on tables nothing looked nearly as good as others have photographed in years past. By the looks and the fact that they -according to the staff member I came upon- were short staffed. This leads me -and the look of the food - is that they are skimping on the good stuff. Maybe, they have long time oldies(I saw a few) that still love this place. But, for me I left without even trying. Deco and exterior are old: no improvements lean to cheap ingredients coming from the inside. No photos. As it's creepy to take photos of a 90 year old woman eating her pie.

Yelp
The seafood was so fresh and delicious. Not disappointed at all. The waiter was really friendly and diligent working. 25% tipped.

Yelp
My husband and I are from Rhode Island and had dinner here for the first time tonight. He had baked stuffed scallops and an 8 oz filet, and I had fried haddock with their homemade onions rings along with a filet. OMG every bite we took was amazing! I usually eat small amounts of food but I ate my entire meal. Our server was Viktor. He was sweet and kind and kept checking to make sure we were happy with everything. We even asked if they would move the restaurant to RI. We are close to great Italian and Seafood restaurants, but this was the best yet!

Christian M.

Yelp
We have seafood everywhere we go so when our friend invited us to Conway we figured why not. We were a party of 6 most of us got sick. I think it was the lobster stew it was like having rotten claim chowder and being a Bostonian at Heart I will never have any seafood stew again they've ruined my home town fav meal WTH. I have been calling to talk to the manager about how a day later we are all still sick and can't even get a voicemail.

C W.

Yelp
This place went downhill. The food used to be amazing. The lobster stew was more like milk with lobster pieces. They changed the batter recipe to a bland, tasteless monstrosity. Flavorless and overpriced. Don't waste your money. So sad. This was one of my favorite places to eat. Fire this chef and bring back whoever was cooking the food last year. So disappointed.

Yelp
Great food at this mom And pop! Which we accidentally stumbled across. Thinking it was part of the Lobster Trap. Nope. This one is family owned and so adorable! Service is outstanding! Food is amazing and all made with love. We had craft cocktails and lobster rolls and fried clams! All was perfect!! The best meal of our 10 day vacation!

Pat G.

Yelp
I have been visiting North Conway for decades. Today I ask myself why did I miss this family owned restaurant. The lobster scampi over linguine totally blew me away! I travel the world and food is my passion. I asked to meet the Mom who is the owner of the restaurant. She is a lovely lady and I was happy to let her know how impressed I was with the perfectly cooked lobster scampi. Her son is the head chief who cooked it. This place is off the normal path of North Conway but this should not stop you from enjoying the food. My wife had fried clam strips and they were perfect too. Add this to your list or head there after you read this you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We stopped off at the Lobster trap for lunch and had to try a bowl of their lobster stew. With a name like Lobster Trap, you know it will be good! Loaded with lobster, and had a delicious broth as well. Just what we needed! We also tried the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms, and these were amazing as well! I could keep popping these in my mouth all day long! So good! We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!

Abby N.

Yelp
The service was wonderful! Everyone was very nice! Our server was great and funny! The food was delicious! We ate everything - no left overs! Then they brought the kiddos and ice cream brownie that was also out of hand! Very impressed! 100% recommend!

Yelp
Lovely spot odd the beaten path. We came in and were sat down right away. Everyone was very warm. The bar area was a cozy place to sit. TVs on, relaxed locals. Nice place. I got a stuffed lobster and some calamari. All was awesome. The stuffing was made with ritz crackers and was buttery! We enjoyed It and would come again!
google avatar

Alexandria C.

Yelp
Visited the lobster trap with my family and we all really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The calamari was tender and fried to perfection. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail which was simply delicious. Then we ordered the baked stuffed haddock. The portion was large and filling. Also our waiter was kind and helpful! Will definitely return.
google avatar

Andrew ..

Yelp
Food is great. I really enjoyed the food. The restaurant is a bit dark and old but it doesn't detract from the food.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
So glad we found this place for lunch!!! Their Lobster Stew was absolutely delicious!! Sooo flavorful! Also got to enjoy their Crabmeat Stuffed Mushrooms! Yummm! Will definitely be back next year!!!
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
My husband and I had the most special memorable experience here. From the moment we walked in the customer service was INCREDIBLE. Our waitress was wonderful and helped us choose what to order and even gave us local tips on hiking that we would have never known about had we not come here. We will be back if we ever go back to the area! This place will always hold a special memory in my heart
google avatar

Maureen B.

Yelp
Happy to try this local restaurant; clam stuffed mushrooms had a clam flavor, but I did not detect any clams. My friend's bowl of lobster stew was 95% broth, and my warm lobster roll was on the disappointing side in terms of the amount of lobster for the price. Now that I've been there, I don't have to go back.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
On a vacation to North Conway, my friend and I discovered that this is the only reasonably priced seafood restaurant in the area! So we went three times in three nights! Overall we were quite satisfied. The first night, we both had lobster rolls. The second night, we got twin lobsters to share. The lobster was great both nights. Very fresh and tasty. The onion rings I got with the lobster roll were very good as well. The final night we got linguine with clam sauce, which was only OK. The clams were excellent but the sauce in the pasta was very thin and not flavorful. We added butter and cheese to make it better. The restaurant also gives you pretty tasty free rolls with dinner. I definitely recommend this place to people who want seafood while visiting North Conway.
google avatar

Ronda O.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch after finding this place online. The menu pricing is higher than the online menu. It's quite rustic. The food was satisfactory. I got the fried haddock which was tasty. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating. Would I go back? Probably not.

Dan K.

Yelp
Great seafood: fried clams (whole belly sweetness) and lobster stew (a claw and chunks of tail meat)....great staff too!

Mike E.

Yelp
My wife and I dined here this evening while vacationing in the area (from NJ). While the White Mountains is our favorite vacation spot, the Lobster Trap is our favorite dining spot and has been for nearly 40 years. The food is so well prepared and the service is excellent. I get a kick out of the few bad reviews on this site because they are so off. As I said, I've got 40 years experience to back me up. For us, it is the number one restaurant in the area.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
We stopped by here on our way back from Diana's Bath. The decor inside was charming. The place wasn't crowded and we were well attended to. We ordered lobster roll and baked stuff halibut. Both came with a side that we can chose. We chose onion rings to go with it. The baked halibut was really good and rich. Onion rings were thinly sliced which I always enjoy. The highlight of the meal was lobster stew, it was absolutely delish. I would highly recommend trying that here.
google avatar

Sandee G.

Yelp
Hubby and I went there for supper yesterday. He was in the mood for some good lobster. The service, atmosphere and food were great.

Michael P.

Yelp
Went there tonight the lobster tails were small, overcooked and rubbery. The scallops and shrimp were supposed to be stuffed but were in a dish covered with a breadcrumb stuffing. Complained to the waitress but no remedy options were offered. The menu is very pricy and the food was lacking taste. Do not waste your money or time

Wafer T.

Yelp
Good service and decent pricing. Out of steamers. (Bummer.) Skip the baked stuffed lobster. The steamed ones were fine.

Adrienne W.

Yelp
The calamari with banana peppers was delicious, though the marinara could use a bit more spice. The 1.5 lb lobster was perfectly cooked, and the shrimp parm was tasty. The pasta was well-cooked. We ordered drinks--blueberry lemonade and whiskey on the rocks--but they seemed watered down.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
We have driven by this place numerous time and today we found it open during our travels. Do NOT let the outside sway you away, because this is definitely a gem of a restaurant. It's clean and has a nice atmosphere. We ordered "Early Bird Special" of broiled haddock with fries and baked stuffed haddock with onion rings. The portions were full dinner portions and they were huge. Both meals the haddock was cooked to perfection and moist and tender. The fries and onion rings were crispy and delicious. Glad we stopped in. We will definitely be going back again in the near future.
google avatar

Tania T.

Yelp
Off the overly beaten track of Conway so no crowds great service staff often breaking out to sing with Christmas tunes. Excellent seafood dishes shhh don't tell anyone

L D.

Yelp
Called nine times to make a takeout order. Had to drive there and luckily it was open. They just ignore the phone ringing. Ordered $110 and lobster salad had three pieces of lobster. Not worth the $25. Mussels were good and steamers weren't bad. Came back another night to order take out since it was such a rainy day and didn't feel like making reservations elsewhere. Husband went to order and the older lady remembered him ordering earlier in the week. She said, " You are the one that had the $110 take out order last time, and you didn't tip me." She then said, "We don't have time to serve you." Turned around and walked away. No food is that good. People may not remember what you do or say, but they always remember how you make them feel.

Yelp
Amazing experience. One of the best seafood we had since a while. The seafood platter was exceptional. So delicious and we look-forward to go back again.

Thamica M.

Yelp
They service was good arriving being seated after that horrible there food was very blend i ordered stuff lobster in which there was no lobster meat in the tail at all nothing but bread crumbs which was not good i took one bite and let the waiter know she called manager they told me i ate the meat out the lobster tail and she then dug threw my food and left talked to the waiter and another waiter then my waiter came back to table and said she'll give me a discount i said on food i didn't touch they then brought the cook out to ask what i didn't like about the food i told him the it was just bread crumbs no lobster not mention my friends ordered fish platter and the waiter stuck her hands all in there food she had to bring a whole new plate but they did enjoy they food was it was really made. They got poor service, food disappointing and I would recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
It's a no for me. We had lunch here today. The wait staff was inattentive. Probably because they're understaffed--who isn't. The place was FREEZING. Everyone had winter boots and jackets on inside. We ordered clam chowder to start our meals and try to warm up... it took 30 minutes. Clam chowder was good. The lobster came and was okay. The bill came and the lobster was crazy expensive. We then headed to south NH for dinner in hopes to find a better lobster joint and boy were we blown away at how awful the lobster at the Lobster Trap was compared to our dinner destination. AND the Lobster Trap was 2 x more expensive. Overall a bad experience. Bathrooms were gross. There was a dead spider on our table. The coolest part was the lobster tanks at the makeshift hostess stand.
google avatar

Jimmy J.

Yelp
The lobster is fresh and I ordered the lobster with pasta. Oh boy, the portion is huge and as a 6 ft 2, 200lbs with a big appetite, I can barely finish it. The linguine was perfectly cooked and the sauce amplified the taste. Plus the the freshness of the lobster, the combination works harmonically.
google avatar

Stacey R.

Yelp
Our favorite Wolfeboro restaurant! Beautiful scenery sets the atmosphere here, followed by the freshest seafood and darn good burgers! A perfect place to celebrate with family & friends eating outside or in. The staff is friendly and the drinks are refreshing. We also love their seafood shop. Best cocktail sauce you'll find anywhere! Decent prices for the freshest seafood and several made to go & heat at home meals available. We'll return again & again.
google avatar

Elmo D.

Yelp
Interesting place featuring seafood, and Italian food. There lobster is, of course expensive. Steamed clams were so so Some of them seemed a little old. Lobster roll was pretty good. Can get it with no filler! Yay! Roll was homemade but still the traditional hotdog roll. Good. Service was a bit indifferent, with silver and napkins thrown in the pile on the table. Decor was kind of blah. Very popular not a bad seafood restaurant.
google avatar

steve f.

Yelp
I have eaten here several times over the last year. Each time better than the last. This has become one of my go to places in the north country. The food is amazing. The service is above par and the ambience is somewhere in the middle. I really like this place.

Annette K.

Yelp
The seafood was outstanding! The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting and the service was excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Ginger H.

Yelp
was their April 13 not many in the restaurant but we had been there before so chose to go back made a big mistake it smelt like bad fish when we walked in that should of told us to leave but we stayed ... my daughter ordered lobster pie a double order well it was claw and knuckle and tased ok but a hour later she was oh no I don't feel good the waitress told us they were running low on lobsters but she was ok with lobster pie I think the pie was bad rotten my daughter had stomach upset an hour later my husband ordered the baked stuffed haddock with lobster and he has a bad case of diarrhea about two hours later omg Im glad I had steak but 54.00 dollar for lobster pie and to get sick is crazy the table was sticky on my daughters side when she sat down We usually go to the Lobster boat near our home but chose this restaurant because we were in Conway visiting family... the waitress did say it was the last day of the week for them but if the food was rotten they should of closed.
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
My friend said they refused to pick up the phone, so they couldn't place a take out order. So, she sent her husband to go make the order in person and pick up the take out. Her husband told her that the old lady who works there expected him to tip on a prior take out order, and the old lady said because of that, she didn't have time to serve him. Then, she walked away. There are tons of bad reviews on here for this place, how it smells dirty, looks dirty, hair found in the food, rude service, skimpy portions of food, and much more you'll want to avoid. Stay away from this place, they don't deserve your business. That old lady should retire, it's time to hang it up.
google avatar

Susan F.

Yelp
Even though they were extremely short staffed tonight we were seated in 20 minutes... food was served in a reasonable amount of time. Fried Calamari was crisp and delicious, Haddock was piping hot and full of flavor, Eggplant parmigiana was very good and our daughter enjoyed her Linguini with meatballs. Couldn't stay for dessert as we had reservations for a Moose Tour at 8pm. Kudos to the staff for a fantastic meal under challenging circumstances... Worth the trip if you happen be in the area

Pat C.

Yelp
Had dinner at the lobster trap just because we were passing by. Place was busy but we were seating within 5 minutes. My husband had variety fish platter with scallops and shrimp lobster and mussels... excellent. Staff was courteous, attentive and funny. Pleasure just to go to a local place with good food. Pat

Jim H.

Yelp
Lots of variety of lobster dishes plus many other choices of Fish, seafood, chicken and meat if you're not into lobster.
