Local Krave – A Cozy Breakfast Gem in San Diego Local Krave is a fantastic spot for coffee and breakfast in San Diego. The service was excellent—friendly and efficient. They offer a great selection of breakfast options, and everything tastes fresh. I had the Caprese Croissant, which was deliciously crisp and flavorful, paired with a cortado that was smooth and perfectly balanced. The ambiance is warm and cozy, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a morning meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
This place rocks! We loved it. The selection is great, and accommodates gluten free. The ingredients were fresh. It's a new take on a bakery cafe and the food was great (I ordered too much because I wanted to try a few things). The staff was nice.

Daniel Cheung

Google
A super nice location. Small and cozy. A great place to chill and have a cup of Joe to start the day. The staff is friendly and helpful with their selections of drinks. Would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in good coffee or just wanting a place for a small gathering of 2-4 people. The patio outside is really nice.

Google
Decent coffee & breakfast. Nice service (Turkish girl was very kind and chatty). Really didn’t like the arrogant owner. Lectured me and my friends about where coffee comes from and honestly, felt discriminated as Italians. Never happend to me before in more than 60 countries I traveled to. If I had okay coffee in a non great area of the city I would be a bit more humble, just a suggestion…

Google
Local coffee joint. I loved the atmosphere, service was friendly. Their focus is coffee beans, they roast their own, make fresh waffles and bread but there is somewhat limited choices or protein breakfast and no fresh cut avocado (only processed one). They serve all food in takeout containers which kind of takes away from culinary experience. I had a GOAT toast and it was ok, coffee was great. Seating both outside and inside. Would return for coffee but not for breakfast

Ana Jimenez

Google
The other reviews are right in that they don't have many keto/protein options but their cold brew is strong and delicious and the GOAT is good as well.

Kyras Fort

Google
The combination of under-extraction and what tasted like a very dark roast made for one of the most sour cappuccinos I've had. Don't go here if you are looking for decent coffee. Do not order their croissants either. They come soggy, not flaky and crisp. The batista was very pleasant.

Marty Falasco

Google
Nice little place in an assuming area. Very nice employees that helped us understand the menu, made sure of any changes we needed, etc. Food was good. Seating is mostly outdoors but not an issue since the weather is always nice.

Yelp
I've been a customer for years because the coffee is amazing and the food is great too. Customer service is always friendly. When I was getting my masters I studied there almost daily for about a year. Great environment with awesome music.

Yelp
I've been here twice and this is a hidden gem that I wouldn't have found if it weren't for Yelp. It is located next to F45 and situated adjacent to apartment housing I believe. There is a parking lot with spaces so it's easily accesible both times I went. This breakfast cafe is cozy with some indoor and outdoor seating. The sandwiches I tried were scrumptious (love everything from the soft croissant bread to the insides and also their burrito was fantastic with good salsa!), service was good, and the iced coffees are excellent with a good blend of strength and sweetness. When in the area of Point Loma/Sports Arena, I definitely recommend!

Yelp
Food -4 Service - 5 Ambiancr - 4.5 Love the iced Vietnamese coffee ! The San Diegan burrito was yummy but potato heavy. It's great if you're starving. Has avocados and egg I think. Yummy sauce on the side. They have a good variety of food from light to heavy. The girl at the counter was nice and helpful with suggestions! Cute inside - few small tables in and out. It's not a large spot so don't bring too big of a crowd. Parking is on the street and I can see it being a challenge to find but it was fine when I went.

Yelp
Cute local coffee shop that wasn't located too far from our hotel. A steady stream of patrons ordering both online and in person. We got some coffees and breakfast items. The good the breakfast burrito decent filling, nice addition with the cream cheese, the bad the Bravocado the idea was interesting and adding the bacon was great but the bread itself started to unravel so it makes for a messy situation. The best was the liege fruit waffle so satisfying, I wish we would have had more, I'd go back just got this. I'd take this place over a chain coffee shop any day. Check them out next time you're in the mood for a caffeine fix.

Yelp
Cute and unassuming, with unexpectedly good breakfast sandwiches. We got the Nutella one and an egg sandwich. The espresso macchiato is the "authentic" kind (small volume, foam on espresso shot)

Yelp
We are addicted to the croissant loaf here. They only sell it in small quantities daily, so it's best to come early or they run out. We initially became customers due to their offering of their version of keto coffee, the OG Kraveman, which my husband gets. Then we saw all the other great menu items they have: lattes, teas, breakfast bowls, toasts, waffles, and grilled cheese sandwiches made with the croissant loaf. That bread is so good. There is some seating inside as well as on the patio, but it's not a lot. The service is great and we do make a point to go when we're in San Diego.

Yelp
Small and modern cafe with industrial interior. The service here was amazing but the food left some to be desired. - San Diegan Burrito ($11.99): A bit small with the portions for a burrito of this price but the mild spicy chipotle sauce was a sweet smokey flavor that went nicely with the burrito. It was a delicious burrito but just wished the portions were a bit bigger. (7/10) - French Toast ($7.99): I liked how it was pre-sliced into bite sized pieces with strawberry and blueberry bits sprinkled on top. The toast was the perfect sweetness but the texture wasn't my favorite. The toast had a tender, crumby bite that wasn't very soft or fluffy. (6/10) - Matcha Latte ($5.99) This drink was a good earthy matcha but they didn't sift their matcha and left some clumps. It also left a weird after taste. (6/10)

Yelp
Açaí bowls here are so good. When I moved here my siblings and I would walk here for one as a treat weekly. Recommend stopping by if you're in Point Loma!

Yelp
Needed a place to do some work and get some breakfast and this place delivered. My almond milk latte was delicious. I had the croissant with eggs and artichoke. It was ok, honestly it was an indulgent breakfast for me. I wish they had more variety in their sandwiches but overall it was delicious. A lot of people were ordering the açaí bowl from there. Staff was pleasant and quick. Place was busy while I was there.

Yelp
Stopped by here while we were running errands. Got their Keto Bowl and their Fancy Toast - The Jam and a flat white. The flat white was okay but the food was very tasty! The portions aren't huge but that's okay because the price mirrors that but everything was great. The chipotle sauce on the keto bowl was wonderful and the jam on the toast was nice and sweet. All in all a good place for a quick bite. Will return to try other drinks. Service was fast. It's a small place with cute little tables outside and one or two inside. There is 15 minute parking directly in front but there's also a shopping center across the way so easy to access.

Yelp
Coffee was bomb, not gonna lie. Skip the food though. I ordered a keto bowl, it sounded really good with the egg and avocado, chorizo, guacamole and chipotle sauce. It took forever for it to come out, and I actually laughed when I opened the container at how sloppy it looked. For $14 are you kidding me? It wouldn't have been so bad if it tasted good, but the egg was cooked so hard it was like a dry pancake. The coffee shop was really cute. A couple seats inside and then a few on an outdoor patio. You can tell that they did put a little effort into making it look cute. The baristas seemed nice enough, but mildly disinterested. Parking in the area was street parking only and difficult. We had to do a couple laps to find a spot. Moral of the story great spot to stop for an awesome coffee if you happen to be right there. Not worth going out of the way for a quick breakfast. And it won't be quick.

Yelp
Super cute! Was super friendly staff! Not too big of a place... there is some seating inside and especially outside and we loved it. It was not too far from where we stayed and I loved that it was local and not your normal like Starbucks or anything like that. I love supporting businesses that are their own thing. My mocha was so good, I wanted to slap somebody. And I get mochas from a lot of places, this by far has been the best mocha I've ever had. We got down to San Diego on Friday evening and went there Saturday morning and Sunday morning before we headed home back to AZ. I'm from Diego and if I lived down here, I will go here every day. My husband got some type of iced latte and it was sooooo good as well. The breakfast sandwiches as you can see from the pictures, were the bomb.com. Very fresh ingredients and I couldn't even finish it all. If you're in the area go check them out!

Yelp
I liked the outdoor seating area. Coffee was a tad watery and expensive, not my favorite. I didn't get the breakfast sandwich but it looked quite good.

Yelp
Local Krave - A Longtime Favorite That Just Keeps Getting Better I've been coming to Local Krave since they first opened, and it's been amazing to see how much they've grown over the years. They moved to a bigger location just across from the original a few years ago, and now they even have a second location! It's always exciting to see a place you love thrive--and Local Krave deserves it. The coffee? Next level. I'm pretty sure they roast their own beans because the quality is consistently amazing. Everything on the menu is made with high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the difference. Even the simplest food items are so well done, but the real standout for me? Their açaí bowl. One of my absolute favorites in San Diego. It's always THICCC and creamy--seriously, how do they do it??? And the granola on top? Chef's kiss. Pure perfection. The owner is super cool and friendly--you can tell he pours a lot of love into what he does, and it really shows in everything, from the drinks to the atmosphere. The new spot is adorable--small but cozy and inviting, making it a great place to catch up with a friend over a coffee and a bite. Whether you're grabbing a quick drink or staying for a while, Local Krave never disappoints. Pro tip: Get the açaí bowl. No questions. Just do it. You'll thank me later.

Yelp
Sad to say this place disappointed me considering how good it looked online. The matcha I was served unfortunately takes the spot as the worst matcha I've ever been served. It was so incredibly bland and not only that, it tasted like seaweed. Cafes that serve matcha use far less powder than what would warrant a $6 price tag because my drink was not only flavorless, but tasted very watery. I'm not sure what base they used but the ratio had to be 80% water 20% some type of milk. I would say save your money. Besides the matcha, the food also underwhelmed for the price. The burrito was a decent portion and was okay but I think it also could have been more flavorful - a sauce would do great with it. I was looking for hot sauce and noticed they didn't have any out for guests which would have made it a bit better. The toast was good but I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is. Another irritating aspect is they charge 50 cents for a water cup. The employee didn't tell us this when my friend asked for water and it always irks me when they don't tell you about extra charges in advance. Atmosphere is nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There's free street parking or you can park in the plaza across and walk over. $26 for our entire order which is pretty standard, but considering quality I don't think it's worth it.
google avatar

Noemi M.

Yelp
So expensive and poor quality of food. A customer doesn't have time to go and ask for a better sandwich. Stablishment could tell customer of expired items in food.

Yelp
Stopped by Local Krave in Midway/Point Loma after wrapping up a job and met my girlfriend there with our dog, Bella Tactical, of course. We were greeted by Landon, who was cool right off the bat and knew the menu like he made it himself. We both grabbed the chorizo burrito and a vanilla latte. Burritos? 10/10. The coffee? I'm not even joking might be the best I've ever had. Like, I'd fight someone over that last sip. Landon made it himself, so shoutout to him for being the barista MVP. He even hooked Bella up with a treat and gave her some love, which officially made him her new favorite human. The place has a chill vibe, good music, and good people. Definitely stopping by again whenever I'm in the area. Appreciate you, Landon you crushed it.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the banana protein coffee here. I've never had banana coffee before now and it was amazing and no something I'm going back for on the regular. Everything my family of foodies had here was delish..lots of vegan and vegetarian options and the neighborhood feel of friends offering you coffee and bomb food makes this spot comforting and wanting to come back. Great service here with people offering suggestions and making you feel like they love what they do and the product they serve all in all makes for a great vibe when decompressing and/or working or doing homework.

Yelp
Great food, quick service, and nice staff! Would recommend to anyone in the area! Has indoor/outdoor seating available.

Yelp
Went in one Sunday morning before Kobys. Perfect place to stop. Parking on the street. Loved the attention to detail with sleeves on the cold drinks. Drinks were delicious. Service was great! The barista was funny and upbeat for it being 7am. Little coffee shop that was well worth the stop. Plenty of seating inside and out. We will be back
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered two keto bowls, one latte and one americano and the cost was $40 without tip (I tipped $5.00). Pros: coffee had great flavor; customer service was friendly; interior/exterior was clean. Cons: keto bowl had nice flavor, but the presentation and portion size was a joke (see image); egg was overlooked, and the the primary ingredient was egg; cost; waited for about 20 mins from order to receiving the food; no bathroom - closest bathroom is the Vons supermarket. I would probably go back for coffee.

Nora Z.

Yelp
Very cute little coffee shop. I tried an iced latte with almond milk and the cinnamon roll, and both were great. They even heated up the cinnamon roll! The service was good too and both items came out quickly. I'd recommend and will go back.
google avatar

Catalina G.

Yelp
I got a mocha from here. It was pretty good. I came in right when they opened around 7am. It was quiet and peaceful. This place has a nice vibe to it. If you're looking for a place to do your homework, this place would be a good choice. Cashier was very nice.
google avatar

Samantha I.

Yelp
Pros: free parking available in a lot beside the building (I want to say it was good for 2 hours), takeout orders can be placed over the phone or on app, the San Diegan (chorizo, egg, cream cheese, and avocado) breakfast sandwich was great - I thought it'd be on a croissant but it was actually bread slices which was soft and fantastic. Cons: they were out of vanilla so I got a hazelnut latte and the flavor was too subtle - could've used an extra pump. It was a pretty basic coffee. Nothing to be excited about, but I appreciated the caffeine for my drive home regardless. The only other flavor they had was caramel so more flavor choices would be a nice improvement as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Tucked away in between the Californian apartments is this hidden gem of deliciously made coffee, fresh croissant bread and food options, and a banging sauce that I actually do crave with their burritos. There's a few seats inside, with more patio seating available. It is street parking, so it will be easier if you're able to walk in. Order at the bar, online or for pickup.
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
Food was 4 stars, coffee was 2.5 stars for what I ordered. Let's start with the food. I ordered the waffles and a egg burrito. Both were filling and really good. As for the coffee, my husband got the cold brew and I got the kravemen. I wasn't a fan at all of the coconut oil taste in my coffee. It didn't really taste like coffee. Just like coconut oil. I wouldn't get it again. Place is cute inside. Small with limited seating. Staff was nice tho. Parking is free in the shopping center across the street. No restrooms inside.
google avatar

Brendan P.

Yelp
Waited over twenty minutes for a sandwich and a burrito. The sandwich came out with scraps of bacon on one side. When I showed it to them the employee said she needed me to decide whether I wanted more bacon or another sandwich. Just fix the problem was essentially my response. It's Sunday. I'm hungry. Do your job.
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
My friends wanted to try this new spot and I was not impressed in the slightest. I got the iced matcha with vanilla and it tasted like vanilla milk. Upon receiving it I could tell it wouldn't have the right taste as no matcha latte is ever that light. It wasn't cheap either so I was disappointed in the fact that I spent $8 on a cup of milk with vanilla syrup. They really missed the point with this one. Additionally my friend ordered a cup of decaf coffee, simple and easy. While they let him know it'd take longer to make, the cafe was empty and at the 30 minute mark he went to ask where it was only to find they forgot about his order. We then waited 45 minutes for a basic cup of decaf that was nowhere near impressive. Was very underwhelmed by the drinks, price and service. I would not try again.

Yelp
We love the butter coffee here. Perfect pick me up after a day at the beach! Industrial decor is interesting, parking can definitely be tight.
google avatar

Jaye L.

Yelp
This spot is close to my house (not walkable close), but situated on a street with no dedicated parking lot so that deterred me a bit from visiting originally. I finally got an opportunity to stop by on a weekend when time wasn't of the essence. I easily found a parking spot on the street right in front which was great. I ordered a flat white and a breakfast burrito. The coffee was the shining star of my visit. Great taste and perfect ratio of espresso to milk. The breakfast burrito was a bit non traditional, but that was expected as the ingredients are clearly stated on the menu. For $12 I was underwhelmed by the size and quality. There were hardened, burnt, inedible pieces of something inside that probably should have been separated out. The burrito was just okay and not something I'll return to get. They do have a pretty sizable menu with lots of things to try so I will be back for the coffee and to sample other menu items. As others mentioned, this is not a cheap coffee + food option, but to be fair the prices are on par with the other options in the neighborhood. The employee who took my order was very nice and friendly, but the person who made my coffee set it on the counter without saying anything so I wasn't sure if it was mine or an online order. Would have been a nice touch for them to let me know it was mine and me not have to ask. The place is small, but not too small. Some places to sit and linger comfortably for a short time, but it looks to cater more to the grab and go audience.

Yelp
DIABETICS BEWARE! NO SUGAR SUBSTITUTES AVAILABLE HERE! Loved the OG Kraveman but I was sad to find out that they have no sugar substitutes! I asked for something other than honey and they offered me sugar free flavoring! Then when I said no and asked for Splenda or anything like that, they looked at me like they didn't know what I was talking about. WoW. What kind of coffee shop does not have any sugar free sweeteners??!!! As a diabetic, I find this very insensitive to people who need to avoid sugar for their health! I also agree with the other reviews. Avoid the food.
google avatar

Sergio L.

Yelp
Great little Cafe, they do offer seating but It'd say its more of a to go unless you get lucky given its limited. Worth going regardless they staff is very kind & quick. Matcha Kraveman is what we got & I do recommend It if you aren't trying to get too much caffeine. food is offered as well we opted for the waffles. There are full menus as well that you can grab and step back if you need a minute to decide what you want. While it is a little up there in price Quality does not disappoint. Would return

Yelp
Cute spot! The San Diego burrito was good ! They have a little indoor seating and some outdoor. Coffee was good too!
google avatar

Venus V.

Yelp
The ice cinnamon Oat milk lattes and Heart to Heart on Croissant Bread is amazing. The staff are always friendly and the place is always bust. Street parking, 15min parking in front or walk across from Joann's (don't tell them I told you). Small coffee shop so limited seating but I have never had a problem finding a spot to hang out with a friend! Chill vibes and quality food and drinks! Don't forget to tip and don't forget your stamp card!
google avatar

Randy S.

Yelp
We came today, 2/2/24 @ around 9am to eat breakfast. We ordered a burrito, waffle and some coffee. After 30 minutes of waiting I finally asked about our food and it was sitting on the counter in a bag. We told them we were dining in and were sitting inside. There were 4 people working and talking with each other the whole time. Not one person called our name or asked if we were waiting for anything. Even the lady who took our order didn't say anything. You need to hire people with better customer service.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee spots. The only unfortunate thing is that I live a bit far from the business. I have been a customer since they were at their old location. Love their Dangerous coffee beans and the Dangerous Kraveman. It might be my imagination, but getting the Kraveman hot allows for the drink flavor to come across more sweet compared to the slightly watered down iced version (which I happen to prefer). If you come at the right time, you'll see the owner actively roasting the beans and he is very passionate about the topic. Very friendly staff. There is an app and I have seen people do curbside pickup before. For those who want to enjoy the goodness in-store, there is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a limited amount of parking directly outside, but there are some spots in the parking lot next to the gym (just pay attention for the line and signs.

Amy K.

Yelp
Horrible service! Slow and rude! Food was okay but service was inept and needs significant improvement and training!! Good luck!!
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
I love the selection here. If you're a keto lover, lots of bulletproof options with coconut oil, butter etc. I love the waffles and I regularly order drinks with half butter or half honey and the staff is fine with it. I love that they have a punch card and that their plain black coffee price hasn't been inflated with the economy
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
We where at the Swap Meet and wanted good coffee and maybe a snack. Found this place and were pleasantly surprised. Order at the counter kind of place, super casual which we like. We had The O.G. Kaveman, it has coconut oil and butter, different but so good. The San Diegan Burrito was delicious, it came with a sauce that I don't know what it was but it was tasty tasty! The waffles were also delish!!! Definitely a place we would come back to.

Marcia C.

Yelp
Ordered a chai with oat milk (no espresso) and it tasted like water. No flavor whatsoever. My bf asked if they could add syrup to it to hopefully make it taste better and somehow it tasted worst than the first time. Not sure what they use for their chai's but that's the worst one I had in my life. Very disappointed. The food was alright. Our group agreed that the best thing we had there was the cup of water. Rating 2 stars for the water.
google avatar

Sarah Z.

Yelp
Just came here for the first time after moving in next door and this place is bomb ! The burrito isn't oily and is a perfect size and taste fresh and clean and the French toast was great . I love a good latte and the espresso was fantastic. The people here were so welcoming and nice ! Definitely a new fav spot for me

Yelp
I came here this morning and got the nutella croissant with strawberries I didnt know how to order my matcha and the girl taking my order offered zero help so i said Nevermind to the matcha The snack was good, i just took off some stars for poor customer service. What a easy sale lost, im sure the owners wouldnt appreciate that.

Yelp
Acai and Greek yogurt bowl. My friend and I split these in half and mixed them together. So good! The granola is yummy and the Greek yogurt was so fluffy

Mikelle V.

Yelp
I wish I took a picture but I got served the worst matcha latte I've ever had. I feel bad being so harsh but.. I took a sip and just tasted oatmilk, looked inside and it was barely a hint of green. Given their prices I'd expect better. My boyfriend ordered an iced hazelnut latte and his drink was good. Maybe coffee drinks are their strong suit. We also ordered food and this is what bothered me most about our visit. They did not call our name for the food. They called our name when the drinks were ready, but then we sat in the shop for a good 20 minutes and nothing. Eventually my boyfriend got up to look/ask, turns out there was a bag sitting on the side of the counter that was our food. How long it was sitting there, I don't know, but at the very least I expect places to alert you when your order is ready. Food was ok. Overall we agreed this place is overpriced for what it is, and needs to work on their service.

Yelp
Was visiting from out of town and fell upon this gem Located right next to the hotel. Seems to be somewhat new but it was delicious!! I ordered the San Diegan with turkey instead of chorizo and it was phenomenal. The samdwich is served on a croissant load type (not a croissant). Highly recommend you check this place out!
google avatar

Shayenne ..

Yelp
Coffee was perfect but my sister ordered the southern comfort burrito and it was cold and we waited like 30 mins for that one food item
google avatar

JNadene A.

Yelp
This is a cute little nook. Small, hipster like, and full of healthy choices. I got the OG Kraveman and it was super tasty and creamy! I love that it's local (support small businesses), I'm just not a fan of the parking situation. Venues at locations where parking is an issue, makes it hard (for me at least) to want to try them out. For this place, all you have is street parking or park across the street at Joanns and cross. Minus all that, I recommend for the healthy choices!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
The service was really great, very friendly. They have an expansive food menu with a lot of options (real meals, not just pastries) and a lot of options for coffee as well. I was given the wrong drink but they changed it for me with no problem. I got a plain iced coffee and it was good, not amazing- only about $4 which was great though. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I probably wouldn't come back because it wasn't anything special to me!

Alyson A.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here on a whim for brunch and we loved it! The waffles are small, but so filling. I also tried the OG caveman with a medium brew and it has set a new standard for coffee. Who would have thought butter and coffee would go so well together?! Heads up: the shop is small and parking is scarce, but there are some stalls for the restaurant in the apartment complex parking lot next door. Highly recommend!
