I was a big fan of Local Roots when I was a College of Wooster student almost a decade ago, so I was pleased to see that it had expanded and was clearly thriving without losing its original character when I revisited it recently. Lots of local art for sale -- everything from wooden spoons to greeting cards to felted cat toys to scarves and hats -- and lots, lots, lots of local of food of all types! It's practically a tiny little grocery store in there these days.
They also serve bagel breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and have a very cool and avant garde lunch program going on where they invite in guest chefs each day of the week. Sadly, we weren't there for lunch, but I can definitely vouch for the bagel sandwiches. Fresh and hot, with a generous amount of cheese and an egg cooked to perfection. They also offered a version with a gluten-free bagel. Be sure to check out the coffee shop in the adjacent space while you're there, for fresh bagels, pastries (some of which are also gluten-free, keto, etc.), and a ton of yummy-looking drinks.
Local Roots is an extremely neat little space, full of fun things to look at and yummy food to buy. You can tell they're really dedicated to their community, and their community is paying them back! A fixture of Wooster life and one I hope continues to thrive (in their new space, coming soon!) for many years to come.
