I've missed this place since moving away for college. The staff is always friendly, the products are spectacular, including fresh produce and meats from local farmers and artisan products. It's one of the best feelings knowing where your food is from! I love this place!

Wow!🤩 Absolutely ❤️❤️❤️love this spot! This local shopping experience is second to none. I would like to move to this charming town just to be a regular here! The local foods, honey, and arts available here are incredible! Their in-house coffee shop- Boo Bear’s Brew- with its own rear entrance or accessible through market was a fun spot to take in reggae sounds and sit sipping coffees crafted with their own syrups made of real ingredients. My apple spice latte was amazing. I also visited their breakfast counter and had the best-ever breakfast bagel with eggs, cheese and locally sourced sausage- cooked to perfection so the cheese and flavors were melded and melted together wonderfully. Highly recommend a road trip to this town for a stroll, latte, meal and shopping spree. The lovely, friendly people who work here made it a wonderful experience for me.

My wife and I took the long way home from Cuyahoga Valley National Park and feel like we hit a home run finding this gem in Downtown Wooster. We stepped inside and knew right away we were going to love this place. It’s a Fresh Market with excellent local produce. It’s a gift shop with Crafts, pottery, Knick knacks and so much more. And last but not least it’s a Cafe that serves excellent fresh, clean and delicious food. We will make the detour again anytime we head north past Columbus. You should do the same.

Wow. This is a must go to if in Wooster. I had lunch here and got fresh veggies and soups and other delicious items. I had a bowl for lunch that had thin cut radishes, cilantro, red cabbage, romaine lettuce, carrots, shallots, think cucumber, seasoned chicken and a aiole sauce and it was astounding good. They also have a had crafted store attached that has hand made items from paintings ,stoneware, etc plus a coffee shop. The folks there are super nice but make sure you go there for lunch it is only served till 2 to time it right but damn

Super tired and getting twitchy having drove all day from D.C..( Staying off the toll roads.) Wanted something "clean" to eat. An old high school friend brought me to Roots last year. It might seem a little pricey for some products. But the quality is top notch. At least on the products I've purchased. Nice selection of gluten free items. I guess you can get a membership for 50$ but didn't dig into the details since I'm not staying too much longer in the area. Stop in and grab some take away. You'll be glad you did.they have a great selection of specialty teas. (3 for 25$)

Great day out to Local Roots. Chef Gina of Andio Sisters makes creative, fresh and healthy dishes. The food choices and baked goods are endless.

Hold on to your grocery bags, because Local Roots Market & Café isn't just a place to shop and eat; it's a whole experience that will change the way you think about local produce! Nestled in the heart of the community, this market and café combo brings the farm right to your table with a twist of creativity and a dollop of homegrown charm. As soon as you step into Local Roots Market & Café, you're enveloped by the vibrant colors and earthy smells of fresh fruits and vegetables, all sourced from local farmers. It's like a carnival for your senses, where every turn introduces you to new, fresh produce or artisan products made right in the neighborhood. But that's not all – the café part of Local Roots is a hidden gem that serves dishes made from the ingredients sold in the market. Imagine biting into a sandwich where the veggies still taste like the morning dew and the bread seems to have captured the warmth of the sun. Here’s a tip: don’t miss their weekend brunch. It’s when the chefs really go wild with the local bounty, crafting dishes that'll make you wish every meal was brunch. So, if you’re looking for a place where your grocery shopping trip turns into a treasure hunt and your lunch feels like a farm visit, Local Roots Market & Café is your go-to spot. Just be warned, you might start chatting with the kale or high-fiving the baker – it’s that kind of place!

Google
This market and cafe is quite special. I love the products they carry and the fact that many of them are from local bakers and artisans. The cafe is a bit chaotic due to the ordering at the counter in a long line. The food options are very limited and we felt overpriced for the quality (especially the canned drinks from the cooler $4.50 each!), but we still enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
While in town for Thanksgiving stopped into Local Roots for lunch. Big D's Soul BQ was the vendor for the day and oh boy was it. I ordered one piece of fish and a New York chicken rice bowl with the red sauce, but I also added a vegan white sauce since I'm dairy free. The chef even gave us a taste of his gumbo which he was selling the next day. The bowl was amazing. Everything was fresh and cooked well. I was really surprised by the size of the piece of fish which was perch as normally perch is not so large. We were joined by a group of family and friends and everyone enjoyed the food from the mac & cheese to the jerk chicken to the fried fish bowl and falafel. If I'm ever back in town, I will definitely stop by. Well, in the shop, I did a little bit of shopping as well and picked up a very cute leaf pottery. I love how it natural it looks, but then it will also match the other leaf pieces I already have. The store has a wide a food on the shelf or in the fridge section plus really pretty crochet, pottery, jewelry, and other items. The store has something for everyone. Finally, we enjoyed the coffee shop which had really delicious lemonades and a number of people in our party also had coffee drink drinks. When back in Wooster this summer for my niece's graduation, I'll be sure to stop in especially if it's a Friday or Saturday for Big D's Soul BQ.

Yelp
We stopped in here after lunch in downtown Wooster, and I found a good amount of treasures to take home with me! The produce was beautiful, and priced comparably to the farmers market. They had some delicious local baked goods, and a nice addition with local artists work on display. I'm pretty sure anybody can find a treasure here!

Yelp
Purchased a couple of blocks of cheese and upon reading the ingredients after tasting the awful taste, we discovered that it was made with RAW MILK. It was in with all the other cheese. The morally prudent thing to do would be to separate the RAW MILK products from the others and put up clear signage stating so. RAW MILK and AVIAN INFLUENZA go hand in hand as RAW MILK is the carrier of the virus into the human population. When I spoke with the manager and explained this her comment was " if you are concerned about it, read the labels before buying. " how many people actually read cheese labels before buying, as most cheese is assumed pasteurized and safe. RAW MILK IS NOT SAFE. It's a shame that this store cared more about selling the product than they do about human risk. WE WILL NEVER SHOP THIS STORE AGAIN.

Yelp
Such a great place for local goods!! Pricing may be a little higher for some things, but they are worth every penny

Yelp
Stopped in here a few weeks back , on our way home from a weekend getaway down South (in Ohio). Our friends live in Wooster and they wanted us to experience a meal in this truly interesting local market space. Apparently they have an ever-changing rotation of pop-up restaurants along with a cooler full of handmade sandwiches, wraps, salads, treats and more. The day we arrived, the pop-up was called the Andio Sisters and they were serving hand crafted bowls and piadinas (a sort of folded, grilled flatbread sandwich). My wife and I split two options, a sausage & mushroom bowl along with a bacon, egg & cheese piadinas. Both items came out piping hot and were full of flavor. We scarfed them down in a state of blissful joy. I would most definitely return here if in the area again, and we even did a little (local) produce shopping as well. What a gem of a spot for Wooster folks!!!

Yelp
I was a big fan of Local Roots when I was a College of Wooster student almost a decade ago, so I was pleased to see that it had expanded and was clearly thriving without losing its original character when I revisited it recently. Lots of local art for sale -- everything from wooden spoons to greeting cards to felted cat toys to scarves and hats -- and lots, lots, lots of local of food of all types! It's practically a tiny little grocery store in there these days. They also serve bagel breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and have a very cool and avant garde lunch program going on where they invite in guest chefs each day of the week. Sadly, we weren't there for lunch, but I can definitely vouch for the bagel sandwiches. Fresh and hot, with a generous amount of cheese and an egg cooked to perfection. They also offered a version with a gluten-free bagel. Be sure to check out the coffee shop in the adjacent space while you're there, for fresh bagels, pastries (some of which are also gluten-free, keto, etc.), and a ton of yummy-looking drinks. Local Roots is an extremely neat little space, full of fun things to look at and yummy food to buy. You can tell they're really dedicated to their community, and their community is paying them back! A fixture of Wooster life and one I hope continues to thrive (in their new space, coming soon!) for many years to come.

Yelp
I LOVE local roots. This is one of my favorite places in Wooster. I love the variety of items, and I always choose to come here when buying gifts for any occasion. It feels nice to be supporting small local businesses. Also, I love the unique cuisine offerings available. This is a wonderful edition of diverse cultural foods to the Wooster area. Some things are definitely a bit more pricey, however, there are definitely some more affordable items available.
google avatar

Yelp
We love this healthy market for their organic and gluten free options, with products that are difficult to find elsewhere. The meat from local farms is especially appreciated. Friendly team as well - everything about this place is great.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Eclectic CoOp just a block away from downtown Wooster. A lot of great stuff! Very intriguing. I might need to buy a refurbished cast iron skillet!
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Excellent place to buy local and organic food. Appreciated that this store sells meat too from Ohio farms. Take time to check out the area where there are products made by local artisans. So many great finds here! The staff is super helpful and friendly as it was my first time here. All food items, including produce, are fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
I wanted to transport this place back to Columbus. This lovely cafe/store/food co-op has it all. Beautiful locally made crafts. Check! Beautiful locally made food. Check! Beautiful locally grown produce. Check! Coffee bar and cafe. Check!

Yelp
I love going to Local Roots mainly for the baked goods and the coffee shop. I like the craftsmanship of many of the items especially the pottery and the wood. So far as the food items It is a little out of my budget, but I understand for health purposes it would be worth it.

Yelp
Fun discovery on the side street. Neat building with lots of glass frontage. The pre-made bean burrito was excellent. 4 stars instead of 5 because of a typical problem with these type co-ops/markets..... the staff just are not warm and friendly. I 100% would not have have had anyone say hello/welcome/can I help you unless I did first. I thought hippies were all about peace and love??? I do not expect to be stroked or coddled but a simple hello goes a long way. I will most certainly return the next time I am here. Lots more to explore - and I will again be nice to you first if need be.

Val J.

Yelp
Very cool local shop. Check it out! I highly recommend it for local groceries and goods. Went for the Woo bagels and came home with so much more!
google avatar

Nat Z.

Yelp
Local Roots is how the collaborative business model is done-- you can pick up your normal grocery co-op stuff, like a prepared salad or sandwich, or fruits and vegetables- but you can also stop by the attached space next door and pick up a solid Ohio hardwood cutting board, handmade pottery, or handcrafted wool goods. Love the selection of locally sourced meat products, too (which is unheard of in the comparatively more barbaric jurisdiction in which I currently reside, where these things are extremely hard to find). Everyone is super nice!

Therese U.

Yelp
The produce is always fresh, the people who check me out are kind & courteous People seem to be happy to be there, and you are helping local farmers and Artisans sell their food and art.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I was delighted to find this store right by my home. I'm in love with the natural and local products. I bought rosemary and lavender hair oil, and my hair is so soft. The staff is amazing, and the food selection is phenomena. Will be my go to shop for natural products.

Bruce B.

Yelp
Good selection of locally-sourced food. Nice coffee bar. Service fine. Good bagels.
google avatar

Johnathan B.

Yelp
Awesom Food the menu they use is based off what they find that's a local farmers market good smoothies my daughter loves it there she loves the food too good locale good people friends

Yelp
This is a cool little local spot. They stop serving lunch at 2, but they were happy to accommodate me when I came in a little later than that. They do have some prepared foods for sale that you can warm up in the microwave, so I settled for a cauliflower soup, which was really quite good. Friendly people who work here, and a nice variety for local Ohio produce and homemade foods.
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
One of my favorite Wooster spots. Great selection of local produce and food. The cafe changes their menu daily. One of my favorites is the Korean bowl. Also boo bears is attached for your favorite coffee drink.

Yelp
Small local business owners driven market with buy and leave items or eat in options. I had the Sat. special for lunch, Rajma Chaval, my GF had the Butter Chicken which she said was delicious. Mine was outstanding! Local produce, meats and other are for sale in the food area of the store. The general store offers craft and artesian items for purchase. Service was outstanding & friendly, prices were somewhat high, but supporting small business owners. This is a local favorite, and worth checking out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
I love, love, LOVE this coop! I have been there twice, and the selection is amazing (especially for a devoted carnivore), the people are warm, and the price is right. Check out their A2 grass fed milk and cheese, drink down a liter of fresh, whole goat's milk (under $5!), try on the pretty handmade shawls. Or better yet, join the friendly ladies for a cup of coffee; it's time well wasted.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
Delicious food, great staff. Little pricey but that makes sense when you know their business model.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Excellent service. Today I ordered the Chicken & Vegetable Stew with Chapati (Indian Flat Bread), 12 oz. of the Pierogi People Mexican Sweet Corn, and a Harney & Sons Organic Lemonade & Tea mix. It was all great. The drink was pretty decent. But the highlights were both the Chicken Stew and Mexican Street Corn which were particularly delicious.

Bobby M.

Yelp
Very good place for authentic farm to market items. We especially love their eggs and cheese. Fresh produce is also of excellent wuality

Yelp
Supporting local in one stop = magical. Every time I go to Local Roots, I find some other treasure or gift. It started with local honey, (of which there is a large variety), and moved to the dairy section. Milk, butter, fresh eggs and on and on. Their selection expands and changes often, so it's worth it to visit to see what's new. Chatting with the staff is always recommended: They are so helpful in pointing you towards the best new produce, goods, or items you might have missed. They go above and beyond to make sure you're happy about your purchase - I've bought coffee before during a really busy time, and they still took time to grind it for me! Do NOT miss the rotating lunch specials that occur daily. I'm a fan of Tuesday Tanzanian with Asinati. The coconut rice is SO GOOD. Many of the days involve ethnic food that can't otherwise be found in Wooster, so this is always worth a look. (Check their website / facebook for weekly menus!) I'm so glad to have Local Roots in our community!

Jay R.

Yelp
Great co-op location with natural good and crafts from local providers. Have a coffee while you're there.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Great place with lots of unique, local items including produce, meats and dairy, home goods and arts & crafts
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
Amazing!!! I have celiac and a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating! They offer a Café menu during limited times. However their market was fantastic. And there's a local artisan shop where you can buy local handmade items from area artists. The College of Wooster is within walking distance(a little long but worth the walk for the atmosphere). Adorable little place Roots is! The employees were super friendly and greeted me with smiles all around. . If you're visiting and want something filling and healthy to eat for brunch/lunch this is your place! Or you want locally sourced fresh veggies, fruit, meat & cheeses they have a great selection!
google avatar

Kathleen T.

Yelp
What a great find while on a visit to Wooster! Local, fresh and artistic would be 3 words to describe this market/gift shop/grocery. I'm looking forward to trying the local specialties we picked up. There is produce, meat, creams, soaps, veggies, baked goods, ceramics, wooden goods....I could go on and on. Staff is friendly & helpful. Bring your own reusable bags if you have them. If you don't, they have repurposed plastic for you.

Lillie S.

Yelp
Always a wonderful place to go. I love the local and fresh produce as well as the artist area where you can purchase locally made gifts.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Great market for local and healthy food. We had lunch from the cafe and were very pleased. The cauliflower lentil soup was outstanding and I enjoyed probably the best iced coffee I have ever had. If you care about where your food comes from and what's in it, you will love this place!
google avatar

Zephy D.

Yelp
This place is great. Hippy foods, gluten free and dairy free and lots of healthy things to choose from! I had a great lunch, loved the relaxed and joyful atmosphere, and enjoyed the local artisan goods for sale.
google avatar

Yelp
Very cool place. some fresh produce. lots of crafts. nice help. On a side note my friend got really sick from the lettuce she bought there but I think that's the growers fault

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch the other day, and was pleasantly surprised. I guess I didn't really know what to expect other than a place for locavores to get a bite to eat. When I walked in looking for lunch and saw a wide variety of vegetables and fruits in a market-like setting, I was a little befuddled, but then saw the cafe counter in the back. My first conversation with staff was mildly adequate, but then the chef/proprietor (?) came out of the kitchen & gave me the full spiel on the market & the menu. Wow! Everything in the place is locally sourced, and the menu adjusts according to what is available. I had a Gourmet Grilled Cheese sandwich with sausage, which came with corn chips and hummus. The sandwich included thinly sliced apples with mild cheeses & even milder sausage. I usually prefer sharp cheeses & spiced sausages, but the flavor combinations did compliment one another well. The corn chips & hummus were a great side. My glass of water was served in a Mason jar. I guess that's quaint & what to expect at a food co-op. Cafe is open 11-2 Tuesday through Saturday. I wandered the market while waiting for my sandwich. All kinds of straight-from-the-farm vegetables, fruits, & meats. My favorite was a sweet potato the size of a football. Local cheeses, breads, syrups, honey, & herbs. All kinds of healthy stuff. The adjoining room had items from local artisans. Found a cool leather-bound journal I couldn't do without. This was a cool place. Exceeded my expectations.

TF L.

Yelp
This place has so much to offer: daily lunch, fresh local food (pretty much a full grocery store but it's all either locally grown/produced or ethically sourced), artist gallery, AND a delightful little coffee shop! Check the website for the lunch menu that changes daily. They have plenty of take-away food available too.
google avatar

Stacey M.

Yelp
Everything read was true. A great vibe that comes from local people doing right by local farmers. Give it a try!

Yelp
Very nice place to find natural foods with a small cafe and handmade jewelry, soaps, lotions, baked goods, pottery, felt balls, and many more eclectic items.

Julia H.

Yelp
Betsy's Bake Shop is absolutely fantastic - Betsy has granola and baked goods available at Local Roots. Absolutely delicious!!!!
google avatar

Gina C.

Yelp
This was a stop on the Wooster Food Tour we took this past weekend. I enjoyed the food samples they gave so much that I bought some produce in the market. I love the idea behind what they are doing here, and also the adorable carrots in the parking lot. I recognized the names of several of their vendors from the Fresh Fork CSA I did last year.
google avatar

Martin L.

Yelp
Fantastic to have something like this in our town! Organized from the ground up with people from around here!
google avatar

Ian O.

Yelp
A local market and cafe where a community comes together over fresh food and friendly conversation, Local Roots merges the best qualities of Wayne County's rural community with the marketing and business savvy of a metropolis. Stop in on Saturday for brunch and you may experience the awesomeness of the accordion lady - the André Verchuren of Wooster.
google avatar

Marlene C.

Yelp
Awesome place!! Great food!! Variety of local produce, baked goods, and crafts. Many unique gifts, cards and crafts to find..just in time for the holidays!

Yelp
I love being able to go to a fresh "farmer's market" in my home town! Local Roots is definately a place to visit once then you will always want to go back for farm-fresh produce and home made goods.

Yelp
Stopped here for quick bite on way through town. Good cafe. Reasonably priced. Love the idea of local food and goods. Great prices on local, grass fed meats and cheeses. Very friendly. Lovely place
