We had dinner at Locale Kaap on Saturday the 13th. Even before going inside, you could already feel the warm and cozy atmosphere. On the terrace we were welcomed by armchairs with warm blankets arranged around an open fire, with a huge pot standing over it - which we later learned was glühcider. Inside, the same cozy atmosphere, although the tables are small and a bit close to each other.
For starters, we had oysters and ceviche. There isn’t much to say about the oysters - they were simply outstanding. The ceviche, however, was a real surprise, with a very unusual, pleasant, and fresh flavor. It’s also worth mentioning the complimentary water served in beautiful carafes and the delicious toasted bread with butter.
For the main course, we chose bouillabaisse and sole fish. The sole fish was baked in butter with a few vegetables as a side - perfectly cooked, without any frills, just tasty, fresh fish. The bouillabaisse was the true king of the table, from its impressive presentation to its rich, intense flavor and the variety of fish and seafood in the bowl.
Overall, all the food at Kaap can confidently be rated 10/10. As for the wine, the wine list offers something for almost every taste. We had the classic and always excellent Sancerre.
However, the main gastronomic discovery of the evening was the glühcider. It’s simply a hot balm for the soul. Unlike glühwein, it doesn’t have the astringent note that I personally dislike; instead, it develops the flavor of baked apples. Moderately sweet, hot, and absolutely delightful.
The staff were very polite and perfectly matched the atmosphere of the restaurant - not overwhelming and smiling. We would especially like to mention Rushira and Eai ;) who took care of our table. Overall, it was an evening we will remember for a long time and will definitely return again.
