Locals Restaurant , Bar & Venue in Fairhope

The atmosphere here was absolutely on point. So quaint and really feels like you’re in a European alley. The service was also amazing. I had the wild mushroom pasta which was really delicious. The bread that came with it was dry but it had a good flavor and I think it would have been good if it was fresh. My husband had the plain Jane burger and the chicken parmigiana. Unfortunately he said he’d had better frozen meals than the chicken parmigiana. The service was great the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the food was not to the standard we would have liked. The place was clean and seemed like they ran a tight ship. Hopefully we just came on an off day and the food will be better next time. I love that they had fresh herbs in the courtyard and I’m sure it’s pretty at night when the string lights are lit.

Good food and excellent service in a gorgeous atmosphere. We stopped in today for a lite lunch and Savannah took excellent care of us. There were several bigger parties ahead of us so it took a little while to get our food out but it was very tasty. The restaurant is very cool with lots of little nooks to find shade outside and does feel very European. I would definitely recommend going there.

We ordered takeout with door dash. The bill was around $150.+. Our Caprese salad was ridiculously tiny for $19. Our whipped ricotta was crazy tiny for $16 + about a spoonful. The focaccia was hard and dense. Had to bite with the side of my mouth and tear it. I ordered the tomato and cucumber salad $7 , about a half cup full, but tasty. My chicken parm had hard overcooked edges on the chicken. Good sauce though. The other pasta dish was dry but tasted ok. We are here vacationing and can't believe what this turned out like. A horror. You can see in the picture how ridiculous the 2 slices of tomato and mozzarella look. When opened. This picture was before a bite was taken!!! Oh well. Live and learn. Never again.

Good food and friendly service. Nice atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. The loaded fries and the Alfredo were yummy! Our server Eva was great.

We got an outside table which was perfect with shadows by a giant tree and great live music during lunchtime on Saturday 😊 We had pasta and shrimp sandwiches which are also great. The homemade French fry was amazing! The service level was high, and the service was provided by a very kind lady. We had a perfect Saturday lunch 💯

I have been a regular for years. I used to come in with my husband once a month to have a nice dinner, but came back for the first time in a while. The food isn’t as good as I remember, and I feel like it has lost some of its flavor. My pasta just wasn’t the same. I also wasn’t able to order any cocktails during a late lunch! I was told the restaurant was in transition, but I reached out to a few server friends and discovered that they lost their liquor license for not following proper purchasing laws! I don’t know what has happened to the Local’s I know and love. While my server, Hannah, was wonderful, I feel that the owner needs to spend some serious time setting her business straight, and getting back to the delicious recipes that local’s used to serve!

So this is my first time witnessing the amazing atmosphere of locals. Let me Getcha on somethin’. The food is amazing, the drinks were awesome and the service was phenomenal. I highly recommend checking this place out and swinging by the bar for some good drinks! The bar tender Lillie was amazing and made sure we had our drinks filled. A perfect place for a date or dinner with the family. Highly recommend.

had a great dining experience at Locals today! my husband had a build your own burger with bison, and he said that it was incredibly delicious. I had Mike’s Beef and it was also delicious. Locals is a great place to stop if you’re visiting downtown Fairhope. :)

I liked their wine dinner a lot, enthousiastic chef, local health filosophy, and I hear they have great plans with their already picturesque alley. But the best ingredient is that they are and attract 'real people'

Nice restaurant in the heart of Fairhope. We came for dinner one night right when they opened at 5 pm. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and their current specials. The food was seasoned well and we were pleased with our selections! There is indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. The indoor seating area is relatively small so if you have a large group I would contact to make sure there are accommodations.

While visiting Fairhope and window shopping, we stopped at Locals for some lunch. Due to the summer heat we ate inside where there was a little coolness. There are plenty of tables outside and also another building a little further down a walkway. I chose the Pecan Arugula salad, topped with goat cheese and dried cherries. This went excellently with the maple balsamic dressing! I added the chicken for some protein. Pretty large portion for a lunch, and reasonably priced.

We went to Locals for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. Everything was spot on. The food was all delicious and the service was superior. We enjoyed the bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. Then, we all enjoyed building our own burgers. The fresh hand-cut fries were amazing! We took our server's great advice and kept our two sauces for our burgers on the side to use as dips for our fries. So yummy!!! The ambiance was perfect. Since they weren't too busy, we were seated in another building in a room all by ourselves and it was awesome. We could be as loud as we wanted without disturbing anybody! We had so much fun!!

Was expecting a lot more due to the solid reviews. The atmosphere & service were wonderful (except for bringing a tablet to the table for payment with 25% tip preselected- incredibly tacky). However, the food is overpriced, uninspired & basic, so in a sense, I guess that makes this place a perfect reflection of modern Fairhope... Overpriced, uninspired, and basic.

Very good. Got the bruschetta appetizer and loved it, but I wish it had more balsamic or came with a side of balsamic to dip. I loved that there was an option to have a bun less burger for build your own--you can do bunless or have a burger on a salad. My friend got the shrimp scampi pasta and it was like shrimp scampi and Alfredo had a baby. Service was good they checked on us a lot even though they were very busy. We loved the ambiance and enjoyed live music outside for lunch.

First time in Fairhope visiting family. Met them in the alley at Locals for a casual, quick meal and drinks. First of all, what a pretty alleyway! Such a beautiful area to have a meal. Ambiance was top-notch. Here's what we ate: VEGGIE BURGER I chose the "Ashley" version, which had Fenugreek cheese, mushrooms, sauteed peppers, and peppercorn mustard on focaccia. It was pretty good, although not as amazing as the description sounded. It was a big burger; the patty was nice and flavorful. I would order it again. PORK BURGER This was my husband's choice. He did a "Build Your Own" with sauteed onion and mushroom, red pepper aioli, garlic bleu cheese. He didn't really like it all that much despite the tasty ingredients. This surprises me as it's hard not to love a burger. ARRANCINI Three words: fried risotto balls. Pretty much all you need to know. They were TASTY. You get risotto (good), red pepper sauce (good), FRIED (gooooooooood) ... I loved them very much, what can I say? FRIES Now these were delicious! I love me a good hand cut french fry. Overall, this was a nice dining experience. The food was good, the atmosphere was beautiful - we would definitely come back to try something else non-burger-y.

Absolutely loved this place! My coworker and I really wanted a good burger, and this was the perfect place. You can build your own burger with the options of beef, bison, lamb and the special was venison. I chose bison with the spicy Cajun and garlic aioli sauce and it was perfect! The restaurant itself was super cute with a gorgeous garden like courtyard that we dined in. The next I'm in Fairhope for work I will make sure I visit this gem again.

This is an interesting burger joint in Fairhope, AL located in a really beautiful space. This restaurant has become known for their gourmet burgers and locally sourced ingredients. They offer much more than burgers and I actually think it is a bit of a shame they are noted more for their burgers as their other food seems to be much more interesting. I also seem to be in the distinct minority as I really didn't find my burger experience to be all that amazing here as although lots of quality ingredients were used the burger meat simply wasn't giving me that juicy delicious flavor I crave in a burger. My burger also had less than optimal structural integrity as they do pile quite a bit of stuff on these burgers which can be both a good thing but also a challenging thing if the bun and beef can't support all that. My side of mashed potatoes were also quite lacking as for some reason no gravy was applied to them... I'm a firm believer mashed potatoes should ALWAYS come with beef gravy on top! I'm also a huge believer in avoiding mayonnaise and ketchup as my mandatory condiment is mustard... Creole mustard being my top choice with other types of spicy mustard being acceptable as well and sadly they just didn't have anything that measured up here as the "chef's mustard" was painfully lacking in flavor to my taste buds. I'm also a big advocate of real aioli and not that fake mayo concoction that so many American chefs tend to try and pass off as aioli... as real European style aioli has NO MAYO in it. Overall I found the space and ambiance here to be really amazing and I would certainly visit again to sample their other food items and I would even give the burgers another go as maybe I just had an exceptionally off experience here compared to other folks. So far out of the MANY burgers I've sampled in Lower Alabama my top choice for the best would still be in Orange Beach at The Keg. I keep hoping to find a joint that can trump that ranking as I'm always hoping for that next burger which will really amaze me! The one other big thing I had a hard time with here was that service was really quite slow and I went for long periods of time with no refill on my iced tea which at the price point of this establishment that really isn't acceptable (again I hope it was just an off day here). So I really, really, really want to love this place but my experience during my initial visit just didn't really work out so well as I had really high expectations so here is hoping for better experiences during future visits. Beware. My lunch was 16.00 but when I asked for a print out of my bill (you have to ask for one) the charge was 16.55! When I asked why they just took it off my bill but gave me no reason. Please check your bill all the time.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Hands down the best restaurant in Fairhope!! I had the bison burger, my son had the elk burger special and my husband had the beef burger. We all 3 had drink specials. Everything right from greet to table was phenomenal! The restaurant was cozy with blankets at the tables and outdoor heaters for your comfort but we sat inside in a room off the main restaurant that had 8 tables. Our server was incredible! It was just the best experience bar none!!! 10 stars!!!!

One of my favorite places to go and take visitors. Great outdoor seating on good weather days. Multiple inside options and can accommodate a few larger parties as well. Food is great and at a good price.

I honestly expected more with all the rave reviews. The menu is pretty much a burger joint that charges 2.75 for every topping you add outside of a Big Mac. They do have some good pasta dishes and salads, but truly not the best burger or sandwich I've ever eaten. Cocktail menu seems fun, but you'll pay just as much for your cocktail as your scant burger. Think I'll grill at home.

The first time I ate here was for my future daughter-in-laws bridal luncheon. The service was great and the food was amazing. Very different than what other restaurants have to offer.

Came here while visiting family in Fairhope. The location and outdoor seating are perfect for an afternoon on the town. It was a particularly hot day so we sat in the back room outside, but I recommend if you stop by to sit outside (pending the weather). Ordered a walnut and cranberry salad with shrimp. Portions were decent and shrimp was tasty! Servers were friendly. Only recommendation is to add some music to the back room, since it was very quiet, but otherwise recommend.

One of the Best burgers we've ever had! Nice place to chill for the evening too! The service was amazing, very friendly and attentive. We were made to feel welcome but not intrusive.

Great food and ambience! Hard surfaces make it hard to hear so take note of that. Food was worth trying once...steak was cooked perfectly and hubby pizza was spot on! Will go back but try when it's not busy.

In town for one night. Was looking for a dog friendly patio. Man am I glad I found Locals. The service is spectacular and food divine. I had the shrimp n grits. When I say it was the best I've ever had I am not kidding. Seriously over the top delicious.

One of the best burgers I have had on the coast. We popped for lunch one Friday afternoon and this did not disappoint. Great service. Its a small place and it was crowded. Fine fresh burger with mushrooms and fresh fries. We had the arrancini too. Very good. We'll be back.

It's not called Locals for nothing. While it's far from a fancy joint, it's definitely not a dive diner either. Service was great and food is on point. I'm a burrito guy so it goes with saying that I'm ordering my favorite off the menu. It didn't disappoint. The house hot sauce and salsa are a must try too. My buddy order the BnG. It's a large portion that WILL NOT disappoint. It's worth it. Just go.

Excellent food! Fantastic service. Great prices and easy parking.. it's so unique in it's decor and arrangement. The outside seating is absolutely beautiful but the inside is comfortable and quaint. We will definitely come here again when we are back in Fairhope. (Visiting from Texas.)

Man, this place used to have amazing food. I would tell everyone about this place before it moved. I am NOT a burger fan, but was told I HAD to try theirs. I did one day, and I was hooked. That burger was so tender, juicy, and tasty. The elberta cheese was just melted into the crevices of the burger, the bread was definitely fresh. I mean, amazing. So, we come back.....and the burger was very confusing. There was juice dripping from the patty, but the patty was tasteless and dry with a weird texture. I could hardly tell there was cheese on it. I actually took my burger apart to check and see if it was there. It was, couldn't taste it though. My husband took a bite because he didn't believe me, he has been vegetarian for a while.....which says a lot. He looked at me in disbelief and confirmed what I told him. It wasn't a bad burger, but not what it used to be. Our server was great though. The atmosphere at the new location is good. I miss the Italian place that used to be there though.

Totally unimpressed with this place. We were seated inside looking into the open kitchen, while sitting there I observed a male blow his nose in the kitchen, still unsure if he washed his hands after (mind you he's the one plating the burgers) I also seen a waitress pick up a slice of cake from the prep area, the cake had fallen over on the plate so with her bare unwashed hands she picked it up and recentered it on the plate. Not to mention $60 for 2 burgers and the terrible stomach ache since eating there. Do not recommend.

Great burgers! Sit in the bar and ask for Avery- she's so sweet and makes some great cocktails! I love the outdoor seating and live music!

We visited based on the positive reviews. I do not recommend. An angry aggressive lady came behind the bar, started clanking glasses, berating the bar tender that was already there, and arguing with the published prices. I just wanted out of there fast. Won't be returning.

The service and food were horrible. The server never came back to take our order and left the restaurant without checking on us or letting us know. The chicken on the Mary's Chicken sandwich was too tough to eat. I had to walk and get our bill so we could get out of there. Not one person asked how our food was. Waste of money and time. Keep walking and try to find another place.

It's beautiful at night but wasn't impressed by the food unfortunately. Service by the young lady that helped was great but our server just was okay .

Went today for lunch! There were 9 of us and they were so accommodating to us! The food was so delicious and fresh! We had everything on the menu from appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers! Their fries are spot on good the shrimp and grits was spectacularly good! The shrimp scampi sandwich was also good but something you don't see on a lot of menus! Highly recommend this place! They have indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance is so beautiful because of the flowers, the design and the decor! The wait staff were all so nice and accommodating! Sorry I forgot to take photos!

Locals is a hidden gem in Fairhope! The bar, tucked in an alley that looks like the heart of Italy, is so welcoming. The happy hour is great and the food is delicious. The friendly staff will make you want to return.

We ate at this restaurant on our drive from Texas to Florida. It was absolutely fabulous!!! The outdoor space is amazing!! Honestly why are all restaurants not like this? It's very Parisian or like mountain town/Estes Park kind of vibe. I had the recommended lamb burger and it was fantastic! My husband built his own bison burger and it was also wonderful. We got the pimento cheese puff and they were delicious hush puppies with homemade pimento cheese and honey but don't let the simplicity fool you, they were so good! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. It was a great experience! We recommend going out of your way for it!

Great food! Waitress a bit put out, but would return. Can't remember the exact name of the dish, but was mushrooms with pasta. I added shrimp, but it didn't need it. The mushroom sauce was awesome!

Our absolute favorite place. Period. We drive over sometimes just to eat (2 hour drive from our home). Be sure to get some bruschetta and the shrimp pasta is our personal fave. Everything made from fresh local ingredients. Exceptional service and food is 5 star.

Food was excellent and service was average. After done eating meal, server did not removed dishes as we were having enjoyable conversation with friends. Don't like paying with tablet and not seeing itemized bill.

Love this LOCAL farm to table restaurant! The food is always so good and their homemade carrot cake is the best I've ever tasted. We always eat outside in the alley, day or night, and love the atmosphere and energy of the staff. The only negative we've experienced was with a couple of young, immature, rude hostesses last summer.

Tried 3 times but never got served. I'm not sure who is in charge of this restaurant but they really need a better idea of what is happening in their town. One time we were told 20 to 30 minutes but after an hour, we still had not heard from them. Needless to say we had an excellent lunch somewhere else. At our second try, everything we tried to order they were out of - even the liquor for one of their special drinks. The other visit we were told they were closed for a wedding but they had had their opening signs out all day advertising lunch, happy hour and dinner times. Really sad business practice!

I've been to this place twice. First time the food was excellent and they even had gluten free pasta! Second time was also good but they were out of gluten free pasta so I had to try something else. The service was good both times. I'm looking forward to going back.

We attempted to eat a Locals this evening but encountered a special kind of stupid when we asked for a table. When we approached the hostess and asked for an inside table we were informed that we could only be seated outdoors. I was told this as I looked indoors at mostly empty tables. I said it is cold, I would like a table indoors. The hostess replied that the outdoor waitress had nobody to serve and so we had to eat outdoors. My wife then asked if there were patio heaters. The hostess said there were no heaters because they were out of propane but they had blankets. We ate elsewhere and wonder how long a place run like this can last.

First time stumbling into this place after living in the area for some time. The Mahi sandwich was amazing. I was super impressed by the portion size, the sauce it was topped with, and how it was cooked to perfection. I'm a stickler when it comes to fish and the chef did a great job. The stuffed mushrooms were also delicious. Check this place out if you're looking for a nice atmosphere and great meal.

Great food and a pretty broad menu. A good place for a relaxing lunch and a glass of wine.

Had lamb balls in marinara on fettuccini. Marinara was obviously from farm to table. Fabulous flavor. My husband had shrimp scampi burger on focaccia with hand cut fries and couldn't have been happier. We managed to split a tiramisu that was spectacular. Locals was recommended by reliable friends. We'll be back! (I wish kitchen staff took smoke break further from dining tables. That aroma was a damper on a lovely sensual experience.)

Such a great lunch spot! Our waitress was awesome. We had the special as our appetizer which was some sort of dip and hushpuppies. They melted in your mouth! Loved the sweet tea here too, ode to Louisiana because it was community coffee's. I had the shrimp pasta and my husband had the ready made pork burger. Everything was delicious! Seemed very farm to table. Service was fast too.
