We stayed at the Alia Jazz Hotel for just one night on our way to Sicily. It is a very quaint single story facility. Each room is comfortable and unique. We were greeted by our very cordial host, Joseph. We started out with beers and wine as we settled in. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Breakfast was a very large assortment of pastries, as well as juice and teas. Joseph had an assortment of coffees and my friends all said it was the best cappuccino they had ever had. A great time plus the restaurant, Gaetano Alia, was outstanding. That will be a separate review.

On the way to Calabria/Sicily or just during summer to enjoy the surroundings, this is the place to stay. ||1. Location|Castrovillari is in the way to Sicily, we stayed here one night to go on the next day and did not expect too much; but man were we wrong. Clearly this is not about the location; it’s about the hotel itself. ||2. Service |The service is great, friendly and straight forward. We were greeted friendly (only us in the hotel that night) and our stay was made enjoyable wherever possible. |The “aperitivo” provided is very tasty, the wine is great - all locally sourced. ||3. Room|The room is simple but enjoyable. I do not understand other travelers complains if they have to share the Terrasse; the door to the shared area is locked and massive; I would say safer than on a hotel floor. |The bathroom is spacious; the quality of sleep is good. ||4. Breakfast. |The Breakfast is made individually for each visitor to its liking. I stay 220 nights per year in hotels but this was a breakfast beyond anyone’s expectation. The oranges came directly from the tree outside, the omelette with ricotta was something out of this world, the self made sweet cakes were fresh and exceptional. Considering that we were the only visitors, this was by no means expected or required. ||5. Conclusion|This is a great place. The location is a challenge but the place is absolutely recommended and we will be back - we actually find some activities in summer around there just to be back in this place.

A stylish place with a very good restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming staff. In a wonderful garden you find the rooms in blocks around a central lawn with sunshades and deck chairs. On walls inside and outside the buildings you find beautiful artistic paintings. The rooms are stylish, well lit and perfectly clean. All comfort you need is provided. The mosquito nets on all windows and the quiet place make it possible to sleep with open the windows. The dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast were absolutely delicious and made of local products and cooked to perfection. The delicious homemade citrus fruit, fruit and berry jams are also for sale. A special thank you to Antonella for her wonderful homemade cakes for the breakfast.

In the wonderful garden you find the blocks with the rooms around a central lawn with with sunshades and deckchairs to relax.|An artist has decorated walls inside and outside the buildings with beautiful modern paintings. The rooms are nicely decorated, well illuminated and perfectly clean. All you need is provided. The mosquito nets at the windows make it possible to sleep with open windows. |The people are very friendly and welcoming. A special highlight is the wonderful breakfast prepared by Antonella.|We enjoyed fresh homemade delicious cakes and perfect homemade jams of different citrus fruits (some varieties that you may not even have heard of yet) and other fruits and berries. Accompanied by a wonderful cappuccino.|Definitely a place to come again.||

Perfect layover for someone "doing" Calabria. An excellent base for hiking in Monte Pollino National Park. And above all, a friendly welcoming staff in the hotel portion, plus a 5 star restaurant attached. The accommodation is in rooms arranged round a central grassy space, ideal for a late afternoon spritz, comfortable beds, clean and fresh. Breakfast served in the hotel lobby area, with some of the best cake and a surprise..ricotta with jam and chocolate shavings..superb. The restaurant is a stand out. Fernando was excellent and Daniela, the wife of the owner and chef, was the perfect foil. Food was way above expectations, local own label wine OK, but try for some of the better local wines...Fernando can advise. Stayed here on our way to R.C. and on our way back to Bari. Can highly recommend.

We only stayed one night at this charming boutique hotel but it was memorable. We were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our exceptionally clean, comfortable, well-appointed room, which was really more of a suite. After enjoying a local wine as an aperitif in the hotel lounge we had a wonderful dinner at the associated restaurant followed by a quiet restful night. The Calabrian breakfast that we were served the next morning was outstanding. Considering the geniality of our hosts, the comfort of our accommodations and the quality of the service, we highly recommend La Locanda di Alia.

This hotel served as our half-way stop between Rome and Sicily on both our way to and our way from Italy. The property is beautiful and well cared for, the rooms are spacious and clean and the host is a joy. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant on our way to Sicily and it was superb. On our way back we stopped on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed so the owner got us reservations at a good local alternative and then hopped on his motor bike and led us there.

Friendly owner doing his best in giving you a wonderful stay. Excellent breakfast! Best yogurt and beautiful meat/cheese plate and toasts. The local restaurant was closed, so the owner booked us into a good local restaurant and gave us a lift there and its owner offered to drive us back.
