BUNGALOW OR BUST
My wife and I stayed here in early Nov 2025 as part of our honeymoon trip. We booked a bungalow for the first night (that was all the availability they had) and a room in Building C for the next 2 nights. Due to a medical emergency, our arrival time was delayed to 10pm and we called the hotel ahead of time to let them know. Unfortunately, we were not taken to a bungalow upon our arrival but we were too tired to question the very friendly security guard. Our room was ok but the bed only had a sheet. and there were no blankets available in the room. So we layered up but we both slept poorly. The next day, we checked in with reception, paid for our stay in cash, and asked about the bungalow. The reception was NOT apologetic about the mix up at all. We asked about a blanket for our bed several different times during the day (to see if different staff would be accommodating) but the response was always, "The blankets must be in use by larger groups. We don't have any more." We are friendly people and met a few other guests staying at the hotel. We met 2 ladies staying in 2 separate bungalows and we asked them if they had blankets. They both replied, "yes, they're folded on top of the wardrobe! We aren't using them, would you like them?" Of course we took them up on their offer and followed them to their bungalow. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!! Our crappy, sans-blanket "triple room" is the same cost as these beautiful bungalows WITH blankets. Stay in the bungalows or don't bother. Our next complaint is about the owner and his wife. They sit at the large wooden table right near the kitchen, you can't miss them. They are not at all friendly while they are sitting at the table (and they are there every single day). The wife is a server in the evening and she is pleasant while in that role. There is an uneasy vibe while they are around like they watch their staff very closely and micromanage. One day, while sitting on the benches (that need a scrub) under the umbrellas, it started to rain. I adjusted the umbrella to block the heavy rain fall that was blowing sideways. Within 10 seconds (I hadn't sat down yet), a staff member came by to tell us the owner was "annoyed" with the umbrella and to return it to its original position. REALLY?! He seems like a dictator. No one smiles except the cleaning, maintenance, and security staff, who are VERY friendly, welcoming, and approachable. The parrots that live in the cage are sad to see. I had a rescue parrot for 10 years and those parrots are living a sad life. One day, they didn't uncover them until almost 10am; Building C is right next to the parrot cage so it was easy to watch the activity around the cage. I was getting so anxious and almost took the tarps off myself. They cover them at 4 or 6pm, I can't remember exactly. I did see a caretaker inside the cage handling and talking to the parrots. That man is wonderful but the 15 mins per day he spends with them isn't enough. The parrots would be better off at a rescue and the space better utilized by the hotel. The owners, receptionists, and wait staff could use an attitude adjustment if they want a better rating for this place. Oh, and give EVERY room a blanket and a mini-fridge, not just the bungalows.
