Loch Lomond

Nice easy/moderate hike or difficult drive to the lake. More strenuous but beautiful hikes from lake to surrounding ridges.

Cool spot. The water was low in September. No fish, not even a bite. Still nice to get up there. The road is not 2wd friendly. My truck did fine, but smaller vehicles may have a difficult time.

We drove to the lake with a 4 wheel drive suv.. but you can walk from the main street up to the lake. It's very rocky and with oncoming traffic it is a little challenging. In addition to Loch Lake there are 3 more lakes going up to approximately 11,500ft . Lovely waterfalls.

Love this place! You can hike the road up if you don't have a high clearance vehicle. Free camping, just pack in/pack out! Keep it clean. Easy trail at the top around the 1st lake. If you're looking for more work you can hike up to the next two lake. Haven't made it past there but you can even keep going all the way up to the peak!

Awesome, stunning beauty. Not that many people go there because you need a vehicle with high clearance to drive a bad, rocky 4WD road or hike 2.7 miles up Steaurt Road. But it is well worth it to see this alpine lake and the 4 lakes above it on James Peak. One of my favorite places in all of Colorado.

Easy trail and beautiful waterfalls and wild flowers

My KIA nelly killed it on that Road.. the hike to the upper lake is nice. The trails are kind of scattered and they go all over but you make your way.

The 4x4 trail is a fun drive and there are a few more lakes around Loch Lomond to hike up to and explore. The wildflowers in late July are breathtaking.
