I would have given this a 5-Star rating because the service and staff are very polite and attentive, and the chef is outstanding but our room was not well maintained. There was a hole on the wall next to bathroom mirror and another hole on the wall on the side of the door that exited the hotel room. It was a spacious room, but it needs such loving care and patching some holes and some fresh pain on the one wall near the door to leave the room.||The PROS: The chef is AMAZING! The food at this inn is outstanding. The breakfast is delicious and has a good variety. Dinner is outstanding, but there is less choices but still amazing. The desserts are very god. The afternoon tea (make a reservation) is outstanding and the chef out does himself with that event. ||The ground are impeccable and the location is in a great place to visit Loch ness and Inverness. It is a very pleasant stay minus the the lack of maintenance in our room, which was room 11 named Vorlich.||Also, keep in mind if you visit in the summer, not sure how hot it gets, but there is no A/C in the Vorlich room (not sure about the others) so you have to open the windows which have no screens. We were there when there was a heat wave for Scotland so we opened the windows and kept getting bees in our room--so just ask about A/C for the room you decide to book, at least in the hotter months. ||Overall, this would be a 5-star hotel if they would take a minute and refresh the paint, patch the holes in the wall and maybe check the furniture in the room that is ripped (in the sitting area) and clean the decorative pillows (ours had a stain on it from the last guests). It just felt like the management of this inn focuses solely on the grounds and providing outstanding customer service (which I appreciate) but it is so disappointing to pay $300 Euros a night for a not-so-well maintained room.
