We stayed 1 night in one of the Loch Roag upstairs rooms. It was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable with nice linen and towels. The shower was also fine. However, that's about as positive as we can be. Breakfast was average; there were no baked beans, mushrooms or pastries, and a very limited selection of fresh fruit. Pictures for sale in the breakfast room looked faded and certainly the price tags in the corners were very faded. There was a general lounge area without a TV. Unfortunately, our room, and the property in general, was very tired and dated and in need of an overhaul. For the price we paid, we were expecting something more top notch. We have been touring the Outer Hebrides for just over a week, staying in B&Bs, and I'm afraid this was the mot expensive and the least value for money we stayed in.

We arrived in Loch Roag guesthouse by luck… late planning of our Scottish journey made the availability of the room more than challenging. However in this guesthouse there was a family suite just renewed not on the website… so available for us. We stayed there 4 nights and the children were very sad to leave this place. |Then it was perfect : the suite has 3 very nice bedrooms and a living room. Beds are comfortable and the location / view is beautiful. |The hosts are very warm and helpful. |Lewis is unforgettable… and this place too.

The hosts are wonderful people. They were so helpful with any concern we had. They took the time to go over the map with us and sites to see. Loved the breakfasts and dinners as well. Delicious soups! The views were lovely all around us. The location was great. Convenient to travel north and south on the Isle of Lewis. My guess is that as the business grows they will continue work on remodeling the bedrooms. Very happy that we stayed here!

We were a party of six spanning three generations, and all of us loved our three nights at Loch Roag. Donald greeted us upon arrival and, though it was later in the afternoon, offered to fit us in for the evening meal, for which we were most grateful since most of the island is quite remote. The meal was lovely--three courses, including one of the best soups I've ever had anywhere. It was sufficiently impressive that my somewhat-finicky family all agreed enthusiastically to partake of Donald's dinners every night of our stay. We weren't disappointed at all! The breakfasts were also excellent, and our server in the dinning room both morning and night, Emily, was very efficient, helpful and friendly. ||||Accommodations were perfect for our group. We had both room 1 upstairs (a double) and the 3-bedroom apartment in the building next door. It was homey and comfortable and very convenient for our exploration of Lewis, including several beaches, the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis and the Calanais Stones (which were so close by we went back three separate times). ||||We all agreed if we're ever in Lewis again, there's no question where we're staying!

We stayed here while cycling the Hebridean Way. After arriving an hour before official check-in, soaking wet, we let ourselves in to get dry. We managed to get the attention of the owner’s dad, who runs the place next door, he offered a warm welcome and showed us to our room.||||The room was huge, with large windows offering nice views across the village and loch. Everything was very clean and well made. A few bits in the room could do with some maintenance or updating, but overall very nice. Fun fact – USB ports in the socket behind the TV, but not the ones right next to the bed.||The bathroom was also very big and nice. Shower over bath.||||What we didn’t know: they offer dinner from time to time. So when they asked us on arrival if we wanted some, of course we said yes. This was a very welcome surprise – after everyone told us everything would be closed on a Sunday, we only had pot noodles from the supermarket.||The food was delicious, proper Sunday Roast with starter and dessert. Super tasty, really good food with homely service and atmosphere.||||Breakfast was also very good. Good portion size and quality.||||Overall a great experience with really nice and helpful hosts, tasty food and a really nice room. It was on the higher end of our price range for that trip, but worth it.

Pleasant dining room and meals generally of a good standard. Generous portions of meat or fish, but the vegetables had a tendency to be overcooked. The soups were absolutely delicious - worth staying here for!|We were in the small double, room 5, and it is very small, with just room either side of the bed for a small bedside table. This is fine if you travel light, but there isn't much space for luggage. I believe the other rooms are bigger.

We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment. We stayed for two nights. The food which is cooked by Donald and others on site is fresh and tasty. The apartment has three bedrooms so was perfect for our group of three. The second evening Donald knocked on our door to let us know that some highland dancers would be performing in the main guesthouse. It was great fun to watch and it was fitting to watch such a highland tradition. The guest house is also situated right next to the standing stones which was quite surprising! Would stay again.

My two-night stay at Loch Roag turned out to be the most comfortable of any of the three hotels that I stayed in during my week long trip to the Isles of Lewis and Harris. Particularly the quality of sleep was exceptional. I really am very grateful for the very personalised service and the detailed advice that I was provided on the local area. ||||This is a really excellent family run guest house with personalised service of a very high standard. The quality of sleep, home cooked food and location, which is central to all of Lewis's tourist attractions and particularly the Callainish Standing Stones, which are just ten minutes away by car, make this a first choice for any stay on Lewis and Harris.||||As a result of this, my limited time on Lewis was spent very efficiently and as a photographer, this contributed considerably to the creation of some really impressive photographs, visits to interesting attractions, as well as meetings with local people. ||||My sincere thanks for the owners’ hospitality and I look forward to choosing to stay solely at Loch Roag for any future trips to Lewis and Harris.
