Lives up to the reputation as an outstanding establishment in a beautiful setting. Really fresh and fantastic seafood for reasonable prices. Attempted to try most things on the menu but a few more trips needed…

We stopped for an early dinner and are happy we did. Made a reservation that morning so was given window table overlooking the loch Leven. Much of the seafood was local caught. Great selection of fresh seafood. We ordered the fresh coley fillet with vegetables and a small amount of sweet pesto. The fish had an herb crust that was a little too powdery, but still wonderful. We also had the mashed pea mint soup which was truly incredible. Service was great. It was raining while we ate so they'll views weren't that special, but we watched a fishing boat going back and forth in the loch.

Loved the food in this place, Folkingtons drinks was so good love the taste of pink lemonade ❤️ The food is worth for the prices, we went on a rainy day unless you can enjoy the scenery of the lake view while enjoying the meals 😍 The staff is very friendly, we ordered a gelato ice cream with a wording on it for a special re and they did it well 🥰 I prefer as this is a seafood restaurant it they had more variations on seafood, 🦞

had 3pax dinner @loch leaven seafood on 28.7.2025. place and carpark was quite full with good traffic. nice ambience we had table overlooking the loch. oysters were excellent! tops! didn’t have tobasco, vinaigrette, but super fresh, plum and sweet. razor clams also perfect, very tasty and succulent mussels were done just right, perfect texture scallops very big, tasty, succulent brown crab too difficult to eat, not worth the hassle even with a lot of help from kitchen and server..meat texture easy breakup a bit powdery. service was cheerful and friendly. had a real nice dinner👍

Excellent fresh seafood. The smoked salmon sandwich was especially fantastic, and great value for money at only £10 - absolutely packed with salmon and on delicious toasted bread. Lovely and quiet - we did come at a quiet time of day (just after 3pm) but appreciated that there was no loud music or anything playing in the restaurant, very relaxing atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly. There was a mix-up with one of the mains we ordered, but it was very quickly and politely fixed without issue. Food came very fast, we barely had to wait 10 minutes between ordering and our mains & sides arriving (though again, we did come at a quiet time of day). Will definitely be coming back!

The food tasted amazing and the prices weren’t too bad for what you got. You could tell that they were closing for the season that week. As the staff were very much reserved. But still a good night.

Having heard good things about this cafe, we were excited to try it. My husband is a big seafood fan, I am not but found it had a good selection of vegetarian/meat dishes for the non-fish fan. However, we nearly didn't get to eat here due to the poor service. We walked in and waited, as stated on the 'wait here to be seated sign'. A few minutes passed, and 2 staff looked at us numerous times but didn't say anything. After asking if we just sit down we got told by a lady someone would be with us shortly to show us to a seat. So we waited, it was quiet with only 3 other tables in, the lady disappeared into the kitchen, the other one gone all together, then the first lady finally came back and showed us to a table. Ordering the food was fine, but we noticed other people arriving after us got given a jug of water for the table which we didn't even though glasses were there for it. The food itself was delicious and cannot fault it. I got the Balmoral chicken, my husband the spaghetti with clams with a side of garlic bread. The food came but we had no knives, only forks, so had to wait for those then the garlic bread came out about 5 minutes later as we were starting to wonder if we'd even get it. Overall, just found the service to be poor and the waitresses just didn't seem bothered or happy about anything. Spoilt our experience and has put us off returning.

We were looking for dinner after our hike. They were able to accommodate us, a party of two, moments after checking in with host or chef. Vibe is excellent here. There seems to be a family-style in one room and a romantic-evening in another for dinner, base on table and party sizes. Family side is more dimmed and filled with conversations /laughs. Romantic side is brighter with whispers in the air. Service is a tad bit slow but not non-existent. Our waiter visits us when they can spare time. Food is great for our evening. The razor clam and scallop is worth a mention. Both are without sand, and cooked to a buttery and fluffy texture. Clams can use a bit more whites for my liking, but I'm not the chef tonight. My wife and I enjoyed this pleasant evening on our anniversary trip, thanks for having us!

More expensive than I anticipated and for the style of restaurant it is. Our food was delicious though so no complaints there. I ordered the filet of wild halibut with peashoot and watercress risotto and it was delicious. I was quite surprised and a little disappointed by the serving size compared to the price. My husband opted for the lemon and thyme chicken. Again, the serving size left a lot to be desired. After the exchange rate, dinner was $112. I don't think I would come here again as the price isn't justified by the portion size or the ambiance. Also, the waitstaff were just standing around watching everyone eat which was strange.

We came out to Loch Leven for the Easter weekend. The weather was warm and mild and we took a table outside on a patio. Eating fresh seafood alfresco looking out onto the loch reflecting the soften golden colored hills and the evening sky was a special treat. The service we received was professional and super accommodating. We had a perfect family outing that late afternoon. The crowd seated inside was mostly couples and families. One must place a reservation well in advance to get a table here. Glencoe Valley attracts hoards of tourists and there are very few real restaurants in the area. Hotels offer decent selections, yet, it could be blunt and overpriced. Fresh food from scratch at the Lochleven Cafe was a great finale in a beautiful day we spent in Glencoe. The place is a local gem (location, food and service).

Excellent seafood, great service in a nice, casual locale. A must if you are in the area.

Service here is shit. If you're a tourist don't come. Ordered quite a bit of food and after they brought the initial water and the food they never asked us again or checked on us. We drove out of the way through dark roads to get there to get treated terribly. Stay away!!

There is nothing like dining on fresh seafood on the shores of Loch Leven especially when the restaurant is the Lochleven Seafood Café. This was by far the best seafood we had in our 16 day trip to Scotland. We loved this place so much we came back for lunch the next day. I don't know where to begin so I'll just say, Eat Everything and then finish it off with some of the best Sticky Toffee Pudding.

We were hiking along the West Highland Way. It was our last stop before finishing our last leg of the hiking. After endless dishes of fish and chips and Haggis, I wanted to search for something scrumptious and great to remember about our hiking in Scotland. We found this place on yelp. It is recommended to make a reservation because the place is very popular, even on Monday night! I enjoyed the food very much. The service was very attentive, although they were very busy. The seafood was also very fresh. Strongly recommended!

Scotland isn't really known for its great cuisine, but we had a great night at the Lochleven Seafood Cafe during our stay. The seafood is incredibly fresh, almost all of it is locally caught. The decor is unassuming and the service was good, if not a little awkward at times. We ordered the cullen skink, seafood chowder made with rice, and the pigeon breat salad as starters. The soup was very flavourful and the pigeon was tender and juicy. As our mains, we had the scallops and the clams. Very fresh and tasty. The price isn't bad for a seafood restaurant, even with the terrible exchange rate on the Canadian dollar right now. If ever your in the corner, this place is worth a visit.

I was really disappointed here. The food was under seasoned and the service was seriously lacking. My table of four had to ask twice for my son's dinner to be brought out several minutes after the rest of us were served. I shared the "large" scallops with my husband, which was eight scallops. Total. Four each for £21. The shellfish said it was served with bread, but the bread was brought out immediately, before starters, and if we wanted more it was £3. We were starving, so we ordered more, but it never came. Finally, the smoked haddock pie was pie filling with a ufo of puffed pastry on top. Not worth the trip or price.

Conversation was possible even while speaking softly. * Decor and Lighting: B. It was possible to dine both indoors and alfresco. The room was simply decorated and did not seem pretentious; not quite what one would expect of a place of such standing, but we were engrossed in our food and the decor did not affect our enjoyment at all. Still, the decor could be improved. Lighting was bright but not overly harsh. * Cleanliness: A-. It was relatively clean, especially for a seafood restaurant. However I saw a couple of flies buzzing around -- not a good sign. [FOOD] * Deliciousness: A+. The seafood is a solid A. Two of us ordered a Shellfish Platter for one (£38.50), a large Roasted Scallops with Soy Dressing (£15.90), and Langoustines with Lemon & Mayonnaise (£8.95). The shellfish platter was fantastic -- everything you'd expect from a platter, absolutely delicious. The scallops had amazing texture, and the soy dressing complemented them perfectly. All the appropriate dressings were provided. * Freshness/Cleanliness: A+. The seafood was amazingly fresh. The oysters were fresh enough, but was not as nice as the other seafood. * Presentation: A. The waitress was prompt in taking our order, and took the initiative to fill our glasses, clear our dishes, etc. * Friendliness: A-. * Time to Order: A. Our food arrived promptly. Ridiculously gorgeous and delicious food -- fun staff and great wine. A bit loud (we were seated near staff counter and the acoustics of the dining room aren't great) was only drawback.

Curry is fantastic!! Also have very fresh oysters and a lovely deli/fish market next door.

The lady who took our order was very helpful and the food was wonderful, view was beautiful. Will recommend to friends and colleagues who are traveling through :)

We enjoyed a fabulous meal of the freshest shellfish here, followed by excellent dessert. The tables and surroundings are a little casual for the prices but the staff are very attentive. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't order a glass of sparkling wine by the glass and the waitress's lack of wine knowledge, but enjoyed a beautiful glass of Gavi with my langoustines nonetheless. Definitely recommend and would love to return.

Have dined here many times and it is, in my opinion, the best seafood restaurant in Scotland in terms of quality, service and price. The seafood does not get any fresher as it is landed 70 yards away! Langoustines, crab, clams, lobster and local fish are all backed up with a fantastic wine list. Alison & her team are first class and do a fantastic job, unsure what to have? Simple, ask them for recommendations and they are happy to help. Even better is that you can buy seafood to take home, my last visit I didn't have time to stop for dinner so stopped and bought a heap of langoustines to take home, sublime! If on the West Coast make sure you stop here, you will not be disappointed.

Food was good, but the staff was not very nice - didn't serve water, didn't check in with us to see if we needed anything else, didn't come to clean the table and asked if we need dessert. Feel like they were purposely ignoring us for some reasons

A bit out of the way for tourists, but the best seafood and service I've had yet in Scotland! Loved the food and scenery.

Like many places we encountered in Scotland, this was low on ambience but decent on food and service. Not extraordinary, but a good meal.

Well worth the long drive off the beaten path. A lovely view, excellent waitstaff, and positively delicious food!

In our two-week vacation in Scotland, this restaurant was by far the gustatory highlight of the trip. We loved it so much we came back the very next day for more. Some of the best raw oysters we've had anywhere in the world, and the best langoustines EVER. Wonderful staff and a breathtaking view outside. Don't miss it if you're in the area!
