These days, traditionally ways to produce and sell clothes are fading away, but not here. You enter the store and you have a feeling that this is how things were done 100 years ago. Indeed, they may not keep up with all the digitalization, but they still have a place in the commercial world. Highly recommended. In case you are from the UK, this place is easily the comparable of The Cordings at Piccadilly/London.

We buy Loden jackets and dress shirts here whenever we are in Vienna. Old-world quality tailoring. High quality materials: linen, wool, cotton. The buttons make me swoon! The staff could not be kinder or more helpful, especially with VAT paperwork.

The products are great but the lady who served us was so disrespectful we left the shop buying nothing. She made jokes about my mother that is 89 years old, unacceptable. If you a traditional high class shop in the center of Wien you cannot treat clients that way. Very disappointed.

Great store! I’m very particular about caps and was able to find 2 affordable ones here that I loved: one for summer and one for winter! We were assisted by a woman who could not have been nicer…. and she told us that her family owns the store and she has worked here since 1962!! I wish all transactions/interactions could be as satisfying as this one was! 🤩 Vielen Danke!

The shop ia at the first floor and there is no lift. You have to walk up a very narrow passage. Lady at the first floor not exactly the most friendly I met in Vienna. Overpriced

Absolutely wonderful store! Went shopping here with my brother at Christmas - he bought an overcoat, and I bought a loden jacket. Saleswomen spoke English and Italian and were experts in sizing and fitting. The selection is incredible, and you will find one, or two, or three things that you like. Prices are fair considering the high quality of the clothing, and I look forward to shopping here again on my next trip.

Wonderful experience! The salesladies (speaking excellent English) were very friendly, polite, professional and attentive, helping me to choose exactly what I wanted from the immense (possibly endless!) variety of gorgeous scarves. I hope to return and buy something else when I am in Vienna.

Loden-Plankl is a traditional Viennese clothing store in the heart of Vienna. They sell wool capes, lederhosen, hats, and so much more. I stopped by with my friend when we were in Vienna for a few days at the beginning of the month, because we were trying to visit shops and restaurants with history and character while we were in the city. The store is beautiful, and their products are really finely crafted and worth the price tags. Unfortunately, the customer service was pretty ... awkward? A store clerk followed us from room to room. It felt like we were being monitored, like she thought we were going to shoplift. I know there are some cultural differences between the US and Austria. Maybe this was her way of being helpful, being nearby in case we had questions or wanted to try something on. Unfortunately, it just made us itchy to get out of the store. We took a walk around but were in and out pretty quickly. Still, worth a stop if you're interesting in buying some traditional Austrian clothing while you're visiting Vienna.

Hello! I bought a typical Austrian leather jacket 2 weeks ago and I am so happy with the style, quality and the very warm service given by the shop staff... only one thing I will change and that is the buttons... from buttons like a coin to leather buttons which look much nicer... Oh wow, what a store! Wifey, who outgrew her beloved lederhosen, kept everyone at the Hansen Kempinski (see separate review) on high alert to let her know where THE best trachten shop in Wien could be found. And yeah, we found it, near the Spanish Riding School on Michaelerplatz. Wifey was taken upstairs and there they were - yet another pair of sublime lederhosen, now in an "adult" size (don't want to call her fat, haha). Loden-Plankl is a historic shop, and they have all manner of loden coats, lederhosen, sweaters with those metal buttons, even shoes, hats, and handbags. The sales help is wonderful - they cast one glance and can tell your size. Prices are obviously commensurate with quality. A MUST, if you are a fan of Tyrolean clothing!

I have been a customer of Loden-Plankl for over 50 years. In the days when you could still have garments made, the quality was always excellent. Today, they carry the finest brands from all over Austria and Germany and I have never been disappointed. I look forward to my next trip to Vienna and a visit to their store.

Loden Plankl is a purveyor of luxurious, high quality traditional Austrian clothes. If you're in the market for a finely trimmed woolen cape or an exquisitely cut suede jacket (men's or women's), Loden Plankl is THE PLACE. The children's clothes are beautifully made and adorable. This shop makes me wish I lived in a cold weather climate!
