LOFT 22

I had a really disappointing experience at Loft 22. My friend was on the guest list and is not only close friends with the DJ, but also works as a photographer and director for many of his events. Unfortunately, no one told her about the 10:45 PM deadline to enter with the guest list. We arrived about 10 minutes after that time and were immediately told she would have to purchase a ticket. What made the situation worse wasn’t even the policy itself, it was the way we were treated. The staff were extremely rude and dismissive, even after we explained the situation and had confirmation of everything. There was no attempt to be understanding or accommodating. The attitude felt unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional. The overall energy at the door felt more hostile than welcoming, it was mire locked down and rude and robotic than airport security. There’s no reason to treat guests that way, especially when they are connected to the event and genuinely trying to resolve a simple misunderstanding. It completely ruined the vibe before the night even started. Very disappointing experience.

This used to be one of my favorite clubs in Chicago. I have been there more than 10 times. This last time, the manager treated us very badly. He has a giant ego and sexist behavior. Don't waste your money there. There are better places to go!

BE WARNED WHEN BUYING DRINKS HERE. Always ask for the receipt before paying!!! I came here for the Halloween event this past weekend. Be warned that there is a 20% auto-grat that the bartenders don't tell you about. I was planning on buying multiple drinks this night, but when my friends and I got 3 tequila sodas that came out to $70 USD, we were quite thrown off and confused. I went up and asked for an itemized receipt after we discussed that that was a crazy high price, and we noticed there was a 20% auto gratuity added with no warning. The machine prompted us to tip on top of this, so we tipped 35% with no notice of what was going on. We were quite sober luckily, but I totally see how this takes advantage of drunk people and the crowds waiting for drinks. When I asked the bartender why he didn't tell us about the auto-grat, he said it's because the machine tells you. This is NOT true. If the machine told us, then why did it then prompt us again to tip 10-20%? This is SO greedy, especially when simply pouring three shots of tequila. If we were ordering cocktails, I personally would not have been offended at the 20% tip he gave himself. For this reason, I will never be coming back. As someone who used to bartend, my managers warned me that auto-tipping without clear verbal consent is illegal, and can get the bar in a lot of trouble. If all the servers are doing this, I worry for the wellbeing of this institution.

I have been to LOFT 22 a couple of times in the past few months and I can´t complain. Every time I had an awesome night. The service is always good the drinks are nice. I can´t complain. Especially the halloween event was cool, the room had some nice decoration. I would recommend visiting!

This place is honestly terrible. I’ve been there twice on the guest list, and both times the staff had some kind of issue or “mistake” with it. Last Friday was the same situation again. Even after we agreed to pay for tickets, the staff were still very rude. It felt like we weren’t coming to enjoy a night out, but like we had shown up uninvited to someone’s house. I’m not sure of her name, but the girl at the entrance was extremely rude and created such a bad first impression of the venue. Definitely not a welcoming experience.

I went to UMMO yesterday, and the last time I came there was a tall, very handsome bartender who served me and always smiled. This time, after a year, I came back for a photo shoot in Chicago and didn’t see him anymore. I had a good time overall, but they should bring back that kind of staff, people who look attractive behind the bar. Overall, everything was fine, the drinks were good, it just needs a bit more atmosphere, more vibes.

PrePurchased a tickets for an Halloween event. Had to stand outside in line anyway. What the point of prepurchasing. Did the over sell? No wonder this place only has 3ish stars. Now that I am in, it is not much better. It was not full, they just held a line to make them seem busy. There was suppose to be a choice of a drink with the ticket price. The only drink we received was a watered down premixed margarita. Be careful purchasing any kind of event tickets from this place. The one positive was the music was decent.

Got tickets for their Halloween event but even with that, we had to wait outside in line. What's the point in paying in advance then? Finally made it upstairs after 45mins only to find out that they're supposedly out of 2 of the 3 "welcome" drinks that are included with our tickets. Even though the bartender had all the ingredients to make other drinks in front of him, he said that it would be full price if we asked for anything but the margarita. The space itself is tiny and you barely have room to turn around. The decor was as basic as can be. Save yourself the headache and just go somewhere else. First and absolutely the last time here.
