"Opened in April 2001, this Central Business District property, a converted dry-goods warehouse, is a departure from the typical New Orleans hotel. Instead of fleur-de-lis wallpaper and Louis XIV chairs, you’ll find Fortuny lamps, Herman Miller desk chairs, and Agape “Spoon” tubs in the palatial bathrooms. The 18 lofts (two are penthouses), with their white walls, concrete floors, and modern furnishings, feel straight out of the pages of Dwell. The hotel doesn’t have the amenities of a larger hotel; the lobby is meant for checking in, not hanging out, and there’s no restaurant or bar to prop up, but guests have privileges at the sister hotel, International House. And, most significantly, the fact that there are just 18 rooms means that from the minute you check in, the front desk team knows you."

I experienced not wanting to leave... The hospitality and attention to details were unmatched by my other hotel stays. As a military veteran, I developed a keen eye and this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Chris, at the front desk and Leslie Hubbard the director went out of their way to ensure that the guests that I met while there, felt acknowledged and welcomed past the check-in experience. They were really welcoming, professional, and attentive throughout my stay. The room was spotless, spacious, and nicely decorated. The bed was uncommonly comfortable, and small touches like the artistic lighting made the room feel luxurious. I made great use of the separate bathtub, which was clean and in a well-maintained restroom, and thoughtfully designed. The balcony was a highlight! It is perfectly located within walking distance to Canal Street and Bourbon Street, yet quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a getaway, business trip, family vacation, etc. This was the second hotel I stayed at in the two weeks I visited New Orleans, but it'll be the only one I want to return to!

This is our second time staying at Loft 523. A few things have changed as far as checking in is concerned, but the staff is still very friendly & helpful. Chris is a hoot lol! We really appreciated his hospitality. There is currently construction going on so if noise bothers you ask for a room away from the street if possible. The hotel is in a great location & in walking distance to a lot of the main attractions New Orleans has to offer. Cute cafe with a bar is located on the corner of Gravier St. & Camp St. Will definitely stay again!!

Check in is at the International House Hotel. Seems like a hassle, but really isn't too bad. The rooms are spacious, beds comfy, maid service was daily and great. Great location, with a wonderful coffee shop across the street and Ruby Slipper around the corner What is unfortunate is that there is no ice machine, so if you need ice, you run over to IHH and they give you a bucket or two. You are welcome to all IHH amenities, including morning coffee. The staff was great and despite being a satellite lodging, it was secure

Many things about this hotel are not as advertised but a bait and switch. The amenities are all at the sister hotel a couple blocks away. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out the front door, which was locked, and the desk not staffed 24/7 as reported. I seemed to be the only person staying here. The curtains blocked no light as they are sheer. There was a kettle but no tea provided. There was no coffee pot for the single use pods provided. I was unable to use the lighted mirror because of a pole in the way. I do not recommend this hotel. There are plenty of other options in the area.

Beautiful loft, sophisticated, refined design for a reasonable price. Perfectly located to walk into the French Quarter, and other parts of the city. Use of the amenities at International House hotel was good, and staff were friendly and helpful.

Google
A stylish and fashionable loft space, very comfy, however some challenges. Check in was very difficult and had to be done at the sister hotel round the corner, but that was not communicated at all and I had to ask following other reviews. The shower was a pathetic trickle at a strange angle. The TV wasn't tuned correctly. A good location and overall a good stay but below expectations.

Google
Overall stay was fine but there were enough inconveniences that I would likely never return or recommend. Check in was an effort; I never received instructions so I kept calling the number on the door to no answer. No one was working at the desk at that time (and for most of the stay for that matter). I eventually got in after a while but only bc I walked around to other hotels and got directed to a different one for check in. By the time I got inside, I read a sign on the front desk directing guests to that other hotel but the sign was not at all visible from the front door. The housekeeping service was also just ok. Our used towels were taken and never returned the first day until we went back to the check in hotel to request them and the toiletries were never replenished. There were a few other things that made the stay less than ideal (could never figure out if the overhead light worked/existed, would have preferred more amenities like a microwave) but overall the experience was fine. That being said, I would likely not return to stay at Loft 524 nor would I recommend it to others. The whole place felt like an afterthought.

It is very difficult to find a room within the French quarter as good as this. I almost don’t want to say how nice it is as I would like to keep these lofts all to myself. There are several strange reviews that say the water drips in the shower…not true. The balcony doors do not lock…not true. In fact, this place is awesome. High ceilings, modern bathroom, clean slippers and robe are in the room for your lady, hairdryer, etc. The bathroom has a very modern tub and shower both are super nice. Very quiet area and our receptionist Lassandra couldn’t be more nice and courteous. We ended up parking in a small parking lot right in front of the Loft523 and the sister hotel International Hotel is literally right around the corner. If you are the kind of person who likes valet parking, etc then this is not for you. But if you are looking for a very spacious room, gorgeous bathroom and a quiet evening with your loved one then I highly recommend.

Yelp
I see a lot of negative reviews on this place. We are pretty easy going with things so the inconvenience of a couple things didn't bother us. Room was really large, modern industrial feel. TV went in and out every day so we just gave up watching it. There's no restaurant or bar on site and if you need something you have to call the sister hotel. We didn't really care about any of this since we enjoyed the quietness of a more boutique style hotel. The one thing I think they should state is that you can't check in directly at loft 523. You have to check in at the International hotel (sister hotel) a short block away. We were only told this when I called and said we'd be checking in late. I think some people could find this confusing- so just a heads up.

Yelp
Before I check in, I was asked to go to the sister hotel up the street for check in, which I was fine with. The concierge was very nice and friendly. She showed me where to go, and when I walked into this hotel, I was kind of concerned because the whole ground floor looks vacant. It appears there used to be a really cool hotel bar, but the alcohol was packed up, pool table covered, and the room had obviously not been used for some time. I checked into the penthouse, and was immediately underwhelmed, to say the least. If this is the penthouse, I'm concerned for what the other rooms look like. I've stayed in nicer rooms for significantly less money. I thought this was a 4-star hotel. There were poppy seeds on the couch from someone else's breakfast. There was yellow sauce and crumbs on the table. There is some sort of stain dripping down the wall of the closet. The bath tub looks clean, but the rest of the bathroom is not. The initial walkthrough has confirmed, I will not be taking my shoes off or sitting on the furniture while I'm here. I like to come into a hotel and not be reminded of the precious strangers that have stayed here. I want to feel clean and at home. This hotel makes me want to keep my shoes on and wash my hands after touching a surface. This hotel makes me feel dirty. I am staying at a different hotel, lower-rated hotel the next time I'm here. I'm interested to see how the cheaper hotel compares.

Yelp
We stayed in the Penthouse #3. The layout of the room is nice but that's about the end of my positive comments. The room is run down. The hot water in our shower never worked (we complained but nothing changed. The toilet was finicky to flush, the sink drained very slowly, the lightened make up mirror didn't work and the futon is terrible to sit on. We will not return.

Yelp
I had a very bad experience with this place. I highly recommend you do not stay here. Communication with the host is nonexistent 99.9% of the time; but if you do get a chance to speak with them they will be rude and condescending. Loft 523 messed up our dates. We booked through AirBNB for August 10-12, but the hotel had us for August 9-11. So, after repeated messages over multiple days, we finally managed to reach the hotel (International House) that runs Loft 523 to ask them to correct their mistake. Loft 523 said they couldn't modify the reservation because Hotel Tonight owns it? And we are subject to Hotel Tonight's policy, even though we booked through Airbnb and not Hotel Tonight? As an example of how inept Loft 523 is at this: they never responded to Airbnb when Airbnb tried to let the host know they were going to cancel the reservation and give us a full refund. If Loft 523 won't respond to Airbnb in order to prevent from losing out on the entire cost of the reservation, do you think they're going to respond to you if you have an issue? I recommend you avoid this place. Or, if you do book with them, don't try to communicate with them. If you're able to speak with them, they will treat you like an idiot even though they're the ones who made the mistake.

Yelp
STAYCATION! I enjoy staying downtown during the summer months. Its a great time to get a really swanky hotel room at a really good price. This was my second time staying here, and I was very pleased. The front desk clerk gave me a room towards the back of the hotel to avoid hearing the 5am garbage truck. He must have sensed that i am no good before 7am. Lol. This small boutique hotel is in a great location..walking distance to eateries and bars. I love the room decor and huge bathrooms. The tub is fantastic. Bed was comfy and the room is nicely furnished. The room had a small fridge and the robes and slippers were a nice touch. To my fellow New Orleanians...make it a point to treat yourself to a staycation and take in everything our great city has to offer.

Yelp
TIP - If you are checking into Loft 523, you actually need to check in at The International House Hotel right around the corner (221 Camp St, New Orleans, LA 70130) The room is beautiful, the bed is very comfortable, and it was overall a great experience. We did have trouble figuring out how to check in and there were a few minor issues with the room. We brought these issues up to the management and they were very accommodating! Christopher, the Front Office Supervisor, was absolutely amazing! We would stay here again! It is just a short walk from the French Quarter.

T R.

Yelp
First, the hotel is under construction. There is no staff on site for check-in. You need to walk a block away to their "sister" hotel for anything. The room was sparse but okay. However, neither the phone nor the TV worked. I couldn't even use it to call the lobby. I was woken up at 2AM by loud banging in the hallway on my only night there. The worst part of the experience was how they treated me when I had to check out early due to a family emergency. I was supposed to be there five nights, but had to leave after the first. I wasn't expecting a refund for all the nights, I assumed they would charge an extra night or maybe two. Nope. They refused to refund any of my money. Very disappointing. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Bianca Y.

Yelp
Horrid experience. Overcharged. No staff. No landline or working WiFi. Front desk is a two block walk one way. No food ice or water in the building Again. Good luck

Yelp
This hotel might be in the Central Business District but it's really close to the French Quarter. It's location is great as you can walk to just about anywhere you want to from this hotel. The hotel is swanky and modern. It has a fun vibe and is updated and adorned very well. I really like the concrete as it reminds me of what a loft should look like.

Yelp
If I could give a half a star rating I would. There were a number of issues, first we tried to check in at 4:30 and were given a room that the window blinds wouldn't open so we couldn't see the wonderful views advertise online. The TV was not functional and some lights were not all operational which rendered the room rather dark. We called the front desk, which by the way is in another hotel, the maintenance person told us that he was not be able to fix the blinds nor the TV. After much back-and-forth with a very rude hotel manager, we were able to get another room three hours later. However, the new room had issues also. The TV didn't work, the refrigerator was not functional and the toilet ran the water during our entire four day stay. The online photos are great (kudos to the photographer and marketing team); unfortunately, the facility itself presents very differently. The lobby is dark and in disrepair with holes in ceiling and leaking water, a deserted bar area with furniture stacked along the walls. (see photos) If the management made the needed repairs and upgrades this would be a great place to stay. The personnel definitely needs better training and customer service skills. I do not recommend this place to avoid the disappointment we experienced.

Yelp
This was our second time to stay here and we have always had a great stay here. Great location! Rooms are huge and the bathroom is an added bonus! The only thing keeping this hotel from getting 5 stars, is the front desk. The front desk could be a little more friendly. Not the most out going people. Overall, a great place!
google avatar

Jo P.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stay here! Yes, the door is inconspicuous and we passed by 3 times before finally calling the front desk, but the lady who answered talked us through and got us there, patiently. Then with a baby in tow, we were given a very nice, private room away from other guests...in PH 1! An expansive room, spacious bathroom, & wraparound balcony greeted us and treated us. I was initially concerned about the concrete floors being too dangerous and different for baby girl, but with low, modern furniture (and extra precautions on our part), our stay was wonderful! I would definitely come back and recommend the Loft to people looking to immerse themselves in the family-friendly sights and sounds of the city, while having a clean and comfortable place to return to.

Beatrice B.

Yelp
I give this place the lowest star because it was just a mess. From the front door to the elevator and the room. The front door looked like you were going into a warehouse. Once inside the place was dim and dark with a hole in the ceiling and water dripping from it. There was no front desk, no lounge, no bar area, in this building, just empty spaces of what used to be or what someone was working toward. The front desk and all other amenities were all in another building. So once you get passed that you go to the elevator to access your room and the elevator smells awful. So we get to our room and it's dark and dim like the lobby, we had to change rooms because nothing in the room was working properly. After waiting about 4 hours to get into the "new upgraded room", it looked just like the old room except it had a tub and things still didn't work. At this point I was just ready to go to another hotel, but of course there was a problem with the refund. I will not advise anyone to stay at this hotel. Period.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Just checked in. Original room didn't have a tub, and after seeing the pics I knew I wanted one. They changed me immediately to another room, perhaps a higher priced one but they didn't charge for it. I love the minimalist feel of the space. Checkin was a breeze and guys at the checkin desk were super nice and friendly. No parking onsite but available either surface or garage about 1/2 block away. Was easy to park at hotel to check in and drop bags, but then you need to move your vehicle. I stay in New Orleans frequently and believe I have a new favorite hotel!

Yelp
This appears to be a beautiful hotel, but our experience was very poor. I am very thankful that they had a sister hotel down the block that we were able to move into. The water heater was broken and the hotel staff neglected to tell us. Our first morning in the hotel we decided to shower and it was freezing cold and never warmed up. We thought it was a fluke. The second time we showered it was still cold so we called down and the staff said their water heater was broken. They said that someone was coming to fix it. After we can back from dinner the staff excitedly said that everything was fixed. The next morning, after a sweaty workout, we tried to shower again and the water never got hot. We called and they made the decision to transfer us. Wish we would of done it sooner. Outlets also weren't working in room. Pretty facade, but a poorly maintained establishment.

Yelp
This is where the contemporary American Psycho would take place. It's a perfect place for blood to get splashed on the wall, and some dude to chainsaw some prostitutes to death whilst wearing a rain slicker, and to update the situation appropriately, listening to Kanye's "Monster." I don't like the aesthetic here (see: barren, cold, psychotic...) but my cousin is a huge fan of places like this, thus I was hanging out in her wedding suite (because I'm the best cousin ever) with her and spent enough time in this hotel to review it. It was incredibly clean (see: sterile) and the bathroom has a huge tub and walk-in shower which is probably a lot of fun... except, knowing me I'd slip getting out and die on the concrete floor. The whole hotel room is concrete, btw. The bar is slightly warmer in ambiance and actually made for really romantic first look pictures for my cousin and her new husband. There is romantic soft light and big, open couches lining the wall - more of a New Orleans sexy-aesthetic than the rest of the place. I seriously expected to see Christian Bale at any moment, though. *shudder*

Yelp
I had a wonderful night here. I had stayed a few nights at the saint hotel and didn't think it could compare, but it certainly did. If you're a sucker for contemporary art and design, then this is the place for you! It's attached to a swanky bar/lounge that resembles an English social club and it happened to be a bunch of festivities there when we stayed. Previous to the party, we chatted it up with the bartender for hours and had fantastic sazeracs. For the price, location, look and feel- the rowdy episodes at night you might hear outside are just background noise- you are in the heart of the city afterall. You definitely want to stay here on NOLA!
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. I just stayed in PH 1 and the balcony was unreal. It's right around the corner from Mothers which serves some of the best food in NOLA. On the way out I just booked PH 1 for 2 more trips. A spectacular hotel (and coming from me....a total hotel queen...that is saying alot)!
google avatar

Candice T.

Yelp
Stunning boutique hotel. Rooms are beyond expectations and those bathrooms- OMG. The only reason I'm taking away a star is the lack of front desk customer service. I dont expect anyone to open doors but to be on your phone all the time and sitting down not greeting guest is very rude. We were there 3 days an after the 3rd attempt at saying hello to them I stopped and didn't even acknowledge they were there (like they did me). Bar we as cute, loud but cute and again not very helpful or friendly. I'd probably stay again only for the rooms/bathrooms not for service. The location was ok, sorta hidden and dark but overall ok.

Yelp
Stayed here for my birthday with my fiancé. We had a great experience at this hotel. It's very shaggy chic and modern. The loft is very minimalist and I love the openest of the room. The only issue was the bed was very low to the ground. which cause some back pains in the morning. Loft 523 is in a great location, very convenient to bourbon st and the French Quarter. Average walk to bourbon st was less than 10 mins and French quarter was less than a 20 min walk. Maybe a 5 min walk to the casino. Mostly, what I like about this hotel was the staff. Probably the friendliest hotel staff I've came across. Each day was a new person and each of them were nice. Don't see that very often, so kiddos to Loft 523.

Yelp
Do NOT STAY HERE!!!! MY car was towed in from infront of their building. It was in a vallet spot. The hotel states it was my fault and they were unwilling to help me. Initially they told me that they would help and take me to the car pound. NO THEY DID NOT. The told me i was responsible for the towing as it was in front of a fire hydrant. WELL it was their VALLET THAT DID IT. They did not believe my side of the story. Also the heat sometimes not work and at times there is no hot water so don't even stay here in the winter. I am disappointed as i stayed here before but this time really ruined my trip.

Yelp
I have stayed at many hotels in New Orleans. This is by far one of the best. The rooms are huge! The very personal service of this boutique hotel is outstanding! Perfect location. Quiet, yet very close to the Quarter. I've stayed at their sister hotel, International House Hotel, and I recommend it also! Same excellent service! Their bar, LOA is a must! Handcrafted cocktails that are a must!

Yelp
I'm very glad the management apologized for what occured with me before! Even though I would have prefered it to happen on saturday night, it's never late to gain a customer back. Original review: This hotel has everything you believe you will like: far from the crowds of Bourbon Street, enormous penthouse with a patio and cool minimalist furniture. But, this morning after 2 sleepless nights I'm leaving when I was intended to stay 3 days. The reason? 1. People partying and yelling and talking and drinking in front of your door till 4am in the morning do bother me. 2. Called concierge/frontdesk at least 6 times with no results or empathy. 3. The police finally came in, stayed for 2 minutes and the noise continued after they left. Well, this is NOLA police. One message was VERY clear from the hotel's management: we could care less if you can't sleep due to your neighbors noise. Stay away from here if expect some respect. Their email apologizing: Please accept my most sincere apology for the events that occurred while you were with us at Loft 523. We do have a policy of no parties taking place without our prior approval and this was an unauthorized event. We should have had it shut down upon your first call and I quite frankly am not too sure why we did not. I will handle that internally. We do want you to come back to see us and to see the level of service that we are accustomed to delivering. Would you please accept a 2 night gift certificate from us for our sister hotel International House? Thank you for your business and we hope to see you again. Amy Reimer General Manager

Yelp
We just got back from a 4 day stay in New Orleans at Loft 523. It was my lady friends first time visiting NO and I thought "Why not show her the best" and immediately booked a room. What can I say- I've stayed here 3 times now over the years. It's the first place I even remotely think about. And each and every time the staff, from both just internet communication beforehand (Devon and Amy) to the front desk (Nicole and Drew) we're so, so, so great. If you have a problem beforehand, just email ! If you have questions while there, just ask ! They're so happy to help to the point that Melissa was shocked, smiling the whole time and never wanting to leave. The hotel is literally a few minutes walk from the French Quarter, right near 4 major Street Car lines, and a hop, skip, and a jump from the Audubon Aquarium ( GO AND DO THE BACKSTAGE PENGUIN PASS. PLAY WITH PENGUINS FOR 2 HOURS AND HAVE THEIR FEET DIPPED INTO PAINT FOR A PAINTING YOU CAN TAKE HOME ), and the ferry over to Algiers. I've racked my head for a while now trying to think of any negative remarks I can about the hotel and, honestly, there are basically none. The only thing we could even remotely think of is that the showers hot water didn't get 'hot enough' for me ( I like it scalding ), but that's seriously a very minor first world problem. All in all, Melissa fell in love with every one at and everything about Loft 523. I was able to show her the city that stole my heart and it stole hers as well. I'm looking forward to coming back as soon as I can.

Yelp
Spent 4 nights here in October. I picked Loft 523 because of some decent reviews elsewhere and was very pleased with my stay. The hotel is just 16 rooms in what I assume used to be a factory. You get very big rooms, I'd estimate on the order of 400 sq ft (!). Nice modern furnishings, including a very comfortable platform bed. They've got the loft look & feel down perfectly. We spent a fair amount of time just hanging out here and it made the trip more enjoyable. There are no amenities in the hotel itself - you have to go up the street to the sister hotel, International House, to use the gym, etc. The tubs are in the penthouses, only, not in the rooms on floors 2-4. One important note is that the club downstairs (Le Phare) is loud, so ask to be in the back (i.e., not facing Gravier St). You'll be glad you did. Better yet, maybe Loft 523 should drop the whole nightclub idea and just make it a bar - most people are in NOLA to drink, not to listen to a deejay.

Yelp
My husband, daughter, and I booked a last minute spring break trip to New Orleans last week and we originally booked their sister hotel, International Hotel. When we arrived the front desk realized my husband booked a single queen bed room and they asked if we wanted to go look at Loft523 because the rooms were bigger and we'd probably be more comfortable there since we would all have a place to sleep. When we walked into Loft523 we feel in love! Loft523 is decorated in a very modern eclectic decor and the bathroom was amazing! The staff at both hotels are very nice and we appreciate everything they did to accommodate us! The hotel is just a short walk to the heart of the French Quarter which made everything we wanted to see and do very accessible by foot. We will definitely stay at either hotel on our next trip to New Orleans!

Yelp
I recently stayed here on a business trip in the city. Due to multiple conferences and low availability, I was not able to stay at my sub-par usual haunt, W New Orleans. However, it was all for the best given the great experience I had at Loft 523. My teammate and I arrived late at night and were warmly greeted by the receptionist. For the rest of my stay, he always welcomed me personally and addressed me by name everytime we crossed paths. Very personable and un-pretentious! I'm obsessed with converted spaces, so I loved the (surprisingly warm) cement floors and restored wood used throughout the hotel. The rooms were were spacious yet comfortable, and the bathroom was nice, particularly the two-headed walk-in shower. The surround sound speakers, collection of jazz cds, and ipod dock were also great touch. The sprawling king bed was comfortable but could have used thicker blankets and more pillows (always more pillows!). My bed also happened to face a massive painting of a man's face. It was kinda unsettling at night... The hotel is in a good location. You're within walking distance of the French Quarter but far enough away to avoid the obnoxious drunks. Overall a great experience! I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I'm a budget traveler for sure. So when I found a great deal on the stylish-looking Loft 523, I was pretty excited for a change of pace from the usual type of hotel I stay in (the kind where you try to spend as little time as possible in the room). My hubby and I loved New Orleans and we loved this hotel. It was located within walking distance from the bus stop (we took the public bus from the airport). We were able to check in at about 10:30am after our red-eye flight from CA. We immediately loved the concrete floors and modern furnishings. Later that night, about 1am, after returning from partying in the French Quarter, we discovered why they call it the "We Will Rock You" room - the noisy bar below was indeed noisy. But guess what? When we discovered the I-pod dock next to the flat-screen TV, we suddenly didn't care anymore. The speakers ROCKED, i think there was even a subwoofer! We played our tunes over the noise of the bar and had a blast. We were so sad to check out. This place even SMELLED good. The staff was very polite and helpful. Our only slightly negative experience was the second night when we visited the attached bar, LePhare, to use the credit they gave us (I am guessing they give the "We Will Rock You" guests bar credit so they don't complain about the noise from the bar below). The manager kept making us move (3 times) so he could accomodate other parties. We asked how many times we would be asked to move and he gave us some attitude. But whatever, free drinks, so how can I complain (although I'm sure that's what he was thinking too). Go, enjoy, soak it up! This place rocks.

Yelp
This is one of the most well designed hotels I've ever stayed in! A refreshing take on luxury in New Orleans. We visited during the summer and I had totally forgotten to write a review! The entrance is quite hidden and the lobby has a feel similar to the Ace Hotel (very hip and modern). Once you enter the lobby, the receptionist is warm and welcoming. The whole area has a very industrial feel. The rooms: the bathrooms are HUGE and almost half the size of the entire room. The concrete floors provide a minimal aesthetic but the decor is very warm and comfortable. The best thing is all the SPACE! Service was wonderful, free internet a plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here before a cruise. Got a deal on Hotwire. Can't complain - very nice staff and comfortable room. Cold concrete floors but the bed was very comfortable. I'd stay there again.

Yelp
I would definitely come back again for its location alone. We had a couple PHs but from reading some reviews if we didn't have all 3 booked plus a few on each floor for our crew, I can imagine a bad party in the hall could ruin it. It's very minimalist in a clean way, concrete floors keep bed bugs away! But the couch is incredibly uncomfortable and the rattan chair sans cushion; I think they don't want you to be comfortable? Good modernists can keep it comfortable so, it's kinda too bad their choices. Bed was comfy but the faucet for PH 3 has installation issue which has water filling up under the sink! You see some dry rot in the window frames and after Katrina, any kind of unnecessary water damage is horrifying to witness. I just can't believe it's done so bad. However the Agape tub is wonderful! The bar sounded terribly loud but never heard it in the PH. The front desk was incredibly helpful & friendly and it smelled great in the lobby always! (watermelon?) the desk girl suggested all the fruit they always have in the bar is where the smell comes from. This location is easy short walking distance to Besh's Luke & August restaurants and Ruby Slipper for breakfast! Plus Cafe Bon Temps and many many others. Nice walk to the French Quarter too!

Yelp
Amazing place! A little hard to find but super amazing people and the room is incredible! Andrew made our check in and evening perfect! Thanks!

Yelp
This is where I would stay every week while working in New Orleans if I weren't stocking up on hotel points to use for a summer vacation. The concierge was friendly (but not overly so in a fake way) and greeted me by name every time I came through the lobby. Even the off-duty concierge addressed me by name. Kind of makes you feel important. The room, like the lobby, is chic and sleek with poured concrete floors (unexpectedly warm to your feet!) and a theme of refurbished wood. Beds are firm and low to the ground with nice flat screens and an iPod speaker system, surrounding you with a great way to fall, and stay, asleep. I heard some noise from the street outside but not loud enough to keep me awake. And Loft 523's shower is the perfect way to get a non-morning person excited to start the day. There are two shower heads coming from the front and the side that steam room without stifling you. Ooh, I would go back for the shower alone.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel, only two blocks from the French Quarter. Although the decor was not to my taste (I'm more of a classic girl, than contemporary), the room itself was comfortable, with its big windows, high ceilings and a super comfy bed. The downside? Our room refrigerator did not work, and the ice cream sandwiches we got (shut up, they were only 170 calories!) had melted overnight. Not bad. We will definitely stay there again.

Yelp
I really loved this place. First off, the staff there were helpful and lovely. 2nd, we had the rock you sweet. This meant that the lounge downstairs, which also subs as an international night club, got to be as loud as they needed (we didn't mind, considering that we were out super late anyway) and they comped us $30 bucks on our room and a $50 dollar bar tab. Not too shabby, if you ask me. 3rd, the bathtub is out of this world.

Yelp
I must say I loved staying here at Loft 523. It was just outside the French Quarters making it easy to get everywhere walking and not need an uber/taxi. This quiet and secluded hotel is just that, with beautiful details. I was greeted by "Lucy" and she was so very pleasant from the time I checked in and then out. I stayed in room 3B which (I believe) is the studio loft layout. The rooms gave me a NY feel with natural lighting and large space. The hotel also offered continental breakfast which was at there sister company International Hotel (which I stayed at and it's another nice place to stay at if Loft isn't available)which is a block up from Loft. Next time I go back to NOLA I'll definitely be coming back to Loft.

Yelp
I would like to comment on one of the most important parts of a comfortable hotel: the bathroom. I adore consciously designed bathrooms, contemporary or vintage. I was attracted to this hotel for their 'spoon' bathtub. The room that was available did not have their signature bathtub. Instead, they have these awful, pointless shower stalls that made me feel like I was showering at a gym. Drafty, with no doors. Cold. Though they are low-flow, there are two shower heads (awkward if you don't want to wash your hair, water in every direction, no way to adjust the direction of water flow). The shower must have been designed by someone who has never talked to a woman. There is no way you can shave your legs in this stall, unless you have a death wish. (And I'm flexible!) The rest of the hotel is just okay, nothing outstanding, good or bad. I think it's a bit unprofessional for a hotel to have the wires of the electronics (TV, speakers, iHome) visible. We had all of our needs taken care of promptly. The service was swift and friendly.

Yelp
Why anyone would come to New Orleans and stay at a Marriott and not this place is beyond me. Don't let the word out that this is one of the coolest places to stay in NO. Concrete floors keep the place cool. Nice touch with the local CD's for the in room cd/dvd player. Don't stay here if you want to hang out by a pool or are looking for room service. Do stay here if you like privacy and a respite from the loud drunks of Bourbon Street.

Yelp
Stayed here a dozen times but never again! The problem is that it has a nightclub in the first floor that they don't control. The only rooms you can actually sleep in when there's an event are in the back (d or e rooms on 3rd or 4th floor) - but they are dark and look out at blank walls. The staff don't even know when a club night is going to happen - so you can't be sure. Great design of the rooms, but total roulette on whether you will be physically able to sleep from the noise! It's crazy making - people screaming and laughing outside the window and it sounds like they're in the room. Music pounding. Then trucks come to the club at 6:15 am and run pumps to unload liquids or something. Unbearable for any price. Don't do it.

Yelp
This hotel had me torn. I loved, loved the decor. The lobby and our room had amazing artwork ( I actually sought out the artist's gallery the next day), the room was clean, bright, and very serene, and the bathroom with huge tub and walk in shower was amazing. I wanted to love this hotel! Sadly, the staff was not very welcoming. We had trouble finding the entrance and when we walked in obviously looking confused, the receptionist just stared at us. We finally mustered the courage to ask if we were at the right place, and she confirmed we were. After check in, she informed us that the key machine was broken and that someone had to walk us to our room. OK, that isn't great, but also not a huge inconvenience. However, every time we returned to the hotel there was a different person at the desk who walked us up to our room - not one of them asked to see ID before taking us up. On our last day, we noticed that there was a leak right above the toilet dripping a substantial amount of water; so much so that we literally couldn't use the toilet in our room and had to go down to the lobby. When we told the front desk staff, he just said he would notify the engineer... That doesn't really help us much now that we are checking out...

Yelp
Beautiful decoration & furniture -- minimalist and modern unlike the other gaudy and/or stodgy accommodations across town. Front desk kept saying that the place has a NYC feel... my room was as big as a Saudi prince's NY apartment, maybe. The penthouse room was gigantic, but so was my buddy's normal room. The penthouse rooms have a huge deck. On a pretty block of Gravier near the conference hotels. Definitely staying here next time I'm in New Orleans!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to take a quick trip down to New Orleans, to get away from our jobs. I was searching on a Boutique Hotel website when I came across loft 523. I thought perfect..... It will be like our little apartment while we are in NOLA. We can relax and explore. What a surprise!!!!! We were greeted by a young woman smiling and welcoming us. Stephanie started to check me in, while my husband parked the car. While she was doing all the necessitates the complete our check in she was inquiring about if our trip was for fun or for work. That was the start of a FANTASTIC experience. I'm a foodie by trade......so of course the topic about where to eat came up. She was VERY knowledgeable and could adjust her suggestions to my likes and dislikes(I can be pretty picky). I named about 6 restaurants and Stephanie could tell us almost something about each one. She got us reservations at Stella (she made sure to mention which item to try). Wow!!!! What an experience. That night when we got back from an amazing dinner, there were some suggestions about spas, and tours that she had looked up for us while we were gone. Also in the envelope of activities was a hand written note written by Stephanie, letting us know that she would be at their sister property the following day if we had "any questions or comments". The next day, we did exactly that. We dropped by and asked for a few suggestions for dinner. We decided to go to August, and watched Stephanie do her magic. She got us reservations. We went back to our enormous room, that had a great outdoor space. I took one of the longest baths I've ever taken in my life. The "spoon" tub, is a great way to relax, and get refreshed. While I was relaxing my husband was in the other room listening to the great music that was provided in the room. Not only did Stephanie make another great recommendation on restaurant, but she also gave us the name of a club in Treme..... Now we've only been to NOLA one time before and only around Bourbon Street. Now that was exactly our style of club! Not only was the room our home away from home....... But STEPHANIE made our trip. Hats off to loft 523!

Yelp
I stayed here while I spent a few days in NOLA. I was drawn to it because the website and travel advisor photos had shown pictures of a large tub in the middle of the area. I was pretty much sold when I saw those. Sadly, we didn't get that room, but it wasn't a huge deal. First impressions: I don't know. Pretty much all over the place. There was no parking... our car had to be taken to a public lot, but I guess that's to be expected in a place where the streets are made of cobblestone and they're usually one-way We checked in a it was creepily quiet. They were running their check-in system off of a Mac. We went up the elevators to our room (on the 4th floor) and the elevator scared the sweet baby jesus out of me. It made the worst sounds and the landing felt horrible when you got to your destination. It's also really dark in there... maybe for ambiance? Got into our room and it was... nice. I have no complaints. Concrete floors. Didn't really bother me, but it might bother some people. The room was just very clean and industrial looking... with a modern twist. The bed was pretty comfy... which is a make or break for me. And really, the price was pretty great for what you get in the room. I really can't complain. The hotel is central to all of the touristy things that there are to do in NOLA. Bourbon St was literally a 5 min walk away, and then from there, you can stroll into the French Quarters and Historic District. Everything is just a walk away- we never had to cab anything. I'd really recommend this place. The front desk girl/concierge is also really knowledgeable about the area, which helped when we wanted a place to eat and things like that

Yelp
Found a previous residents bottle of anal lubricant under the bed whilst searching for my phone. Service at check in also very shoddy. Doesn't matter that the rooms are actually nice, i will not be back.

Yelp
Very cool boutique hotel, close to everything in New Orleans but on a side street that makes it seem kinda tucked away from the crowd, thanks yelp! Was a bit loud on Friday night but had more to do with the production crew filming in the lobby and outside the front door. The room was big, great loft look & feel, and had everything you'd expect from a top tier hotel. Would recommend this over any of the chain offerings and definitely where I'll stay whenever in town.

Yelp
We booked in for Jazz fest weekend on a recommendation from a friend as it was close to the festival bus service. I was expecting a noisy stay especially with the bar downstairs ( which I knew about thanks to other reviewers).......but was delighted to have 3 quiet nights!!! The best sleep we have ever had at a hotel due to comfy beds, pillows and quietness!! The bath was so comfortable, perfect to rejuvenate after a long festival day. Was nice not to have to pack shampoo and bodywash due to the Aveda products that were supplied. The sister hotel just across on Camp street has a gorgeous modern french style restaurant that is worth checking "Rambla" ( their bar is also very nice) We look forward to our next trip down!

Yelp
Wow! What a gem this place was. I find it hard to believe you could find a better place to stay in NOLA for the price. The room was beautiful and sleek. We somehow managed a room with its own balcony and view of the city. The staff was helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for anything more honestly. Thank you!! This will be the place I recommend to anyone staying in downtown NOLA.

Yelp
Awesome place, and I'm so glad it's back post-Katrina. Great location, a true boutique hotel with enormous rooms and fantastic service. Definitely where I'm staying for my next visit to New Orleans.

Yelp
If there is any chance you may want to relax and sleep during the hours of 12-4am, you should avoid this place. The walls and furniture were vibrating because the bass was so high in nightclub downstairs. I had to complain several times in the night and stayed up late and not feeling well. Management offered to take 300 off, only after having to go out of my way to explain how the noise level was unacceptable. Room was 379/night and should have been entirely complimentary with the amount of discomfort. Would have gone to another hotel if they were not already booked up. There is no insulation in the wall and you will hear everything from the street, which may include jack hammer drilling in the morning to wake you up. The room was very large and I love concrete floors and minimal design, however, this helped to showcase the poor housekeeping job. Countertops had stuff on them, sheets had stains, there was several places with mold in corners of the bathroom. Also, the shower was the most horrible experience I have ever had with a shower. I did not think it would be possible to have such a hard time getting clean, had to use the bathtub to wash hair (which I had to clean prior to use). Also, the front door to building did not lock during stay, even late at night. Nobody asked to see room key and just let us go straight upstairs. Did not seem safe. Overall, even if you enjoy the design of this place and prefer smaller boutique hotels like I do, I would still prefer a chain that has it's act together and has a commitment to service and cleanliness.
