Guide to Visiting Glacier National Park

"The high-elevation visitor center at the road’s crest and the primary access point for several major hikes; it serves as the trailhead for the famous mountain ridge trail that begins near the center and provides interpretive information for alpine conditions." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Logan Pass Visitor Center

Beautiful visitor center that has stunning views. Connects to hidden lake overlook hike as well as high line trail. Bathrooms are not the cleanest (as with most national parks) and parking is a battle! If you’re coming in the morning- come as early as you can- we waited 1+hour at 7am but it was worth it. :)

The Logan pass is a very popular place as it is a starting point for many beautiful trails in Glacier. We visited this place twice on our trip in July2025. One day we visited on a Friday around 7.00 PM and the parking was easy as most of the people were leaving at that time. We did the Hidden Pass Overlook trail and it was a great trail and by time we returned it was 9.00 PM and still there was abundant Sunlight which was a plus point. The next day we arrived around 9.00 AM , we were hoping to be there by 8.00 AM given the difficulty of parking. However we got lucky and took one round, and we were able to acquire a spot. I would say be patient and make few rounds before you can find a place as at that point people who came in early might be leaving already. Its all about patience and luck. We did the highline trail from here and again this trail was one of the gorgeous trail I have ever been to, specially the wild flowers took the whole trail to next level. Logan pass is well known for spotting Mountain goats , we were fortunate enough to see a whole family of goats. Overall Logan Pass is a great place to be let it be for hiking some amazing trails , or to watch mountain goats or to be at the highest elevation point in Glacier.

We loved our visit here! Be forewarned, the parking lot fills up quickly! We went on a Saturday morning and couldn't get a parking spot after driving around the lot 6 times. So we left and drove to St. Mary's and went back to try it again and the parking lot was closed. Came back the next day at 6:15am and there was maybe 10 parking spots available. So go early!!! The views are majestic! You'll probably see mountain goats, marmots, tons of ground squirrels, and maybe even a grizzly or two. The visitor center is very informative but can get crowded fast.

Parking is very limited. We were able to find a spot before 6:30am. People were racing to the last empty spots. Please be respectful of the speed limit, and parking spots that are reserved for the Red Bus Tours, NP Staff or 30 min parking limit. Despite the parking, the visitor center provides access to beautiful trails such as Hidden Lake and Highline trail. There are also plenty of restrooms available including clean porta potties. The visitor center has a small gift shop and informative section. The Park Rangers were also friendly and patient.

We went on Wednesday, 9/16/25, which is after peak season. We pulled in the parking lot and my husband said, you go ahead in the Visitors center and I will look for a parking space. I walked up the path and took pictures of the mountains. Then I went into the Visitors Center and looked around the gift shop, then I went and talked to a Ranger. Then I walked out toward the parking lot and saw my husband, who was still driving around the parking lot for 25 minutes and he never found a parking space. So we left. This was ridiculous.

I was there on June 14th. One day before the going to the Sun road was open all the way to cars. Lots of bicyclers were able to use the road and the visitor center was very nice. Still snow on the ground around the visitor center but pathways were clear and all Restrooms were open. People were skiing and just generally having a good time up there. We were there about 8 pm at night. And it was a very active place. The sun didn't set until 9:30 ish.

What a beautiful place! It’s disappointing I couldn’t enjoy it fully. People were bbq-ing at the end of their parking spot at 9:30am so others could t park and enjoy the area, too. If there were park rangers to monitor the parking area to move people along, everyone could’ve had a chance to fully enjoy the Visitor Center. Unfortunate. I put on the review “1 hour plus” for the wait, but what it really means is we could never park at the Visitor Center.

This is a nice little rest stop in the middle of Glacier National Park. There is a small gift shop with lots of options, as well as a bunch of information around the area. Highly recommend checking this place out but the parking is insane. It’s upper busy so be ready to fight for spots.
