The staff were great, the shuttle to the mountain was easy, and the pool/hot tub/sauna were super. DirectTV and internet were great. The lofted unit we rented, however, felt more like a guy's college apartment than what we would expect at this price-point. It wasn't dirty, but things were in rough shape - many kitchen/bath amenities felt garage-sale-esque. The wood-burning stove was not terribly safe to use - didn't vent smoke - although we had the flue open and were encouraged to use it.

Our stay was comfortable overall and we appreciated the location, the pool & hot tub, and the shuttle up the mountain. The staff we interacted with were very pleasant and helpful. There is a new sauna in the pool area that didn't have any signage on it, but it was not ready for guests yet as there were tools and equipment still inside. For the price, there were some basic things lacking. We ran out of toilet paper after the first night as we started with two half-rolls in each of the two bathrooms. The cabin accommodates six people, but there is only serviceware for four people, and other kitchen items are overused or not available. One shower rod was broken with a fix of a washcloth holding it up. The upstairs shower in the loft had very weak water pressure. Our unit smelled strongly of a wood-burning fire every day, and worse after we had been out for the day, even though we never used the fireplace. We couldn't figure out why this was the case. The unit wasn't the cleanest when we arrived - there was a container under the couch and the rug didn't look vacuumed. Other aspects: You can hear noise from the neighboring unit, but it wasn't a problem for us. The internet was consistent, but it wasn't good enough for a Teams meeting for work and a streaming movie skipped/glitched. The power out the afternoon we arrived, but there were generators that provided for enough needs until the power came back online very early the next morning. There is a trail accessible from the top of the main road that we really enjoyed for walking our dog and is worth exploring.

Always love our stay at the Alta Crystal Loge! The queen loft cabins are so cozy and perfect for families or couples. We love the wood burning fireplace and they provide the wood. It’s great to have a kitchen with all the essentials to make your meals. The pool is heated and perfect way to relax and workout your muscles after a day of hiking or skiing. The grounds are beautiful with a river and great places to explore. The shuttle to the Crystal Mountain ski resort is so convenient. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back!!

Amazing first visit to LOGE Alta Crystal! Staff was super accommodating and the onsite amenities were awesome. Take a dip in the appropriately heated swimming pool big enough for the whole family or walk on over to the Spa set at the perfect temp. The sauna was also a big hit with our group! Only 15 minutes to a snowboarders dream mountain. Can’t wait to go back!

I would have given it 5 stars if the hot tub was working and the pool a little cleaner. Overall great outdoors areas and property. Comfy place with cabin style. Lots of beautiful trees and plants. Bedrooms decent but hard to sleep with bright lights beaming in even with blinds and sheer curtain. Nice kitchenette area for cooking and mini fridge.

As much as I’d love to live the Loge, the standards for cleanliness MUST be improved. Our rooms (both of them) were covered in white nasty dog (cat?!) hair so that we had to find a vacuum and attempt to clean. After 45 minutes of vacuuming we still had to cover the couches with sheets to sit on them and still we’d find random white hairs on us during the day…. Gross. The couches needs replacing. The rug needs a non slip mat under it- and to be replaced. If cleanliness standards can’t be kept (or even if they can) pet and “pet-free” rooms should be kept separate. The loge has charm and potential and great location. We never saw a single staff person…. So you’re kind of on your own- so when the room is gross, you’re kind of stuck. Not great.

We had the best stay!! Our room was super with a fire place. Beds were so nice and comfortable! We were able to get the perfect sleep. Spa and hot tub were perfect and there is a heated pool! Staff were super friendly! Oh and they love pets!!! This place is INCREDIBLE!!! 10/10.

While I understand this area is in Slack season. That doesn't mean you should get a dirty room. Especially when the place is a ghost town. After asking for a new room because we have an older dog that couldn't do the grate stairs. We were put into a filthy room near the trash and tools. We were literally one of 3 couples there. The kitchen dishes were also disgusting and not clean. They also had fake molton brown products in the bathroom. They used the molton brown bottles but the products inside were absolutely not molton brown. The area around the property is very beautiful but none of the pools or hot tubs were open and they didn't mention that so we weren't able to use any amenities. We will not stay there again. If you like clean rooms probably go somewhere else.

Yelp
We live in the biggest town near here so when I looked up hotels that have pools, the Loge Alta Crystal looked intriguing. It had everything we needed so we packed our bags, grabbed a pizza & wings (knowing there are no dining options up that way) and headed up the mountain. Just prior to our arrival we received a text with our room # and door code. Virtual check in is always preferred. Upon arrival, we unloaded our truck to a well appointed and clean room. I was surprised that it had a true kitchenette with all the necessities. The couch was stained but it wasn't off putting - I'm sure it's seen a lot of use. It pulled out to a full size bed which my teenager slept well on. The bedroom had a queen that I had to share with my 11 year old but it was comfortable and the whole place had just what we needed for bedding and toiletries. The boys wanted to go swimming so we all got dressed and headed to the heated pool. It is older and again stained but clean and well maintained. I could tell that they do a good job with keeping the chemical right (I formerly had to maintain a small apartment pool & tub). While the boys swam, I decided to take the dogs for a walk around. Nice grassy field with poo bags & can for waste. We then just started walking further up the hill past the cabins where I discovered a sign "Trail" so I followed it. It led me to a beautiful waterfall. Had I brought the right shoes, I probably could have kept exploring. Returned to the boys and we wrapped up the night watching a DVD (found in the office after launching an inquiry as to why the Direct TV wasn't working - hello satellite! Lol) Slept through the peaceful night and checked out early around 9am (11am is check out time). I plan to stay again...this time with appropriate footwear.

Yelp
They're charging luxury rates for a place that is basically a run down hunter's cabin. The coffee pot was broken, the shower curtain bar was propped up with a wadded up wash rag, the fireplace didn't draw properly, tv channels faded in and out...I could go on. We've come to Alta Crystal for family ski trips off and on for more than a decade, but since they've been bought out by private equity firm no improvements have been made--just way higher prices. This will be our last time going there.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of room in the one bedroom cottage like room. Had a full kitchen and living room. Pool was refreshing. Hot tub was out of order. Staff are located off proper after 6/7 pm. A quick text away of you need something. Check in was easy. Don't even need a key. You get a code texted to your phone. Check out is simply texting you left.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place, especially given the challenges of finding a comfortable, private place to stay near Rainier. Cabin was nice, everything was clean and enjoyed the hot tub after exhausting hikes.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Great place and location. Yes it is a little worn but very comfortable. We booked the 1 bed with loft 2 bathrooms. It also had a fireplace and kitchen. Comfortable beds, good linens, towels and toiletries. Also pools and nice hot tub. The staff was friendly and helpful. Fire pit for bonfires and s'mores. Will definitely stay there again.

Yelp
I was a little surprised to see only a 3 star overall rating because my family and I loved this place. The units are nice and spacious, the staff was overly friendly and helpful and the overall property is really nice. It's about 10 minutes from the Sunrise entrance to Mt. Rainier. They have different activities planned every day such as scavenger hunts, barbecues and other things - we didn't do any of them because we spent every minute hiking in the park. But they were clearly doing things to give their guests a great experience. The store on-site is very well stocked with things you can cook in your room or cabin (pizzas and prepared meals that go well beyond what you'd normally expect). I read some of the negative comments... buncha Karens who probably ask to talk to managers everywhere they go. Lighten up people - maybe the great outdoors ain't for you. You'd think they'd learn to roll with more after the last 18 months.

Yelp
We were driving and needed to stop. Saw their signs and went in. Some man from afar was watching us.. no hi, hey, hello. I had asked if there was a bathroom and he said "no public restrooms" .. ok rude! Could have been friendlier. Guess I won't be checking into your establishment any time soon!

Yelp
This was the trashiest, dirtiest place! At $300 a night I thought it would at least be clean. The floors were filthy, kitchen and bathroom were disgusting. I think they made the bed and that's it before we got there. It was that gross!! The shower and bed had hair in them! Light fixtures and windows were broke. The curtains and couch were stained, old and had holes through them! This place was a dilapidated hole! Scary dirty!!! Don't waste your money here!

Yelp
My partner and I recently got married at one of their large river properties and the experience was absolutely perfect. While guest couples stayed at the main resort, our large family groups stayed at the riverside cabins and we got to experience how attentive and friendly the staff here is. The property manager Maureen went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our big day. The units themselves are rustic and charming. We felt so at home and relaxed. Hot tubs at the standalone units, gas fireplaces and buttery soft sheets on the bed. Cozy, old and quaint cabins to rest your bones at after a long day of hiking or skiing. If you're looking to to some amazing sight seeing, hike around endless trails or even get married this is a great option.

Yelp
Magical resort! This place is just amazing. We had a great fireplace cabin. The location is perfect and it's just charming. They have several different cabin options available, in addition to the suites, including a river house. Great sense of community, too: On Friday, there were s'mores by the bonfire, on Saturday there was a BBQ. They have a cute little 'general store' with beer, wine, snacks and a great list of locally made, pre-cooked meals you can make in your room or cabin, as well as any little thing you could need during your stay. There are tons of trails right off the property and they rent mountain bikes, too. The management (and dog) are wonderful to be around. We can't wait to come back! (If you're looking through older reviews, and see some that are not good, keep in mind that the resort is under new ownership/management, and has had a bunch of work done, too.)

Yelp
We booked our stay at the White River Bend cabin and are absolutely glad we did. This cabin is away from the resort. A nice space all to ourselves. So quiet and beautiful. Full kitchen, plenty of bed space for us and our three kids, heaters in each room, even a washer and dryer. The pictures posted online did not do this place justice. The views were just we needed to get away from our busy city. The kids ran among autumn leaves. We saw eagles everyday. We saw more stars than ever before. The jacuzzi on the back deck was a nice treat after traveling. Plus the master bedroom has a HUGE tub to enjoy. We went into the main office at the resort on our way to the hiking trails and everyone was so friendly and helpful showing us the way and fun suggestions. Very happy we chose this cabin and coming back as soon as possible!

Yelp
I was very happy with my stay at Alta Crystal. There is a beautiful stream on the property and also some great hiking all around. Possibly my favorite bed. The staff was helpful and very welcoming. All around a great place. Highly recommend

Yelp
We used to enjoy going here every year but their customer service and their ability to provide a compromise when our car broke down forcing a cancel makes this a hotel that is too risky to book in the future. We understood the cancellation policy but honestly had not anticipated the loss of our vehicle forcing us to cancel. This is already over priced but since there are few options we have shelled out a lot to stay there with a group of friends. I suggest forgoing this place unless you shell out even more for cancellation insurance as they will firmly deny any amount of refund or even allow you to move your reservation even to an off time. They must have a deep list of return customers that they are not concerned with how horrible they sound when they lecture a customer that they should have rented or carpooled up there even after that customer had to turn back due to a failed transmission in Auburn on their way there. That there was nothing they could do at all was one thing but being lectured that finding a vehicle to make it to work should not have been our priority was just rude. Plus I heard from my friends, they got rid of the community room which was a huge reason for why it worked to stay there as a group.

Kim S.

Yelp
Very surprised with the rating for the resort as it is just beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely. We were in the Tahoe cabin, which is decorated in an earthy, ranch style. Beds were comfortable and in good condition, linens clean and plentiful, kitchen well-equipped, and grounds well kept. Plenty of outdoor seating around the property and nice trails to hike. Our patio (with hot tub) overlooked a babbling creek that was so relaxing to enjoy with a cup of coffee. The office has a store with a wide variety of snacks and even meals to prepare in your unit. Staff were very friendly. We were delighted when we called ahead and were told we could check in early. We'd love to come back and highly recommend it for all!

Yelp
I would give this place probably 2.5 stars, but that rounds to 3. We have completed a 2 week trip of the Pacific Northwest, staying at 6 different places including this one. At first I liked this place a lot. When we got there, we played some cornhole, they have a badminton set up, and there was literally a creek like 100 feet from our room I walked to. In addition, in the mornings I would find a small trail and walk around, which was pleasant. I really enjoyed the fireplace in our room, and had no issues with WiFi and the place had cable which was nice. It was more of an Airbnb than a hotel, of which I took advantage of and made breakfast most mornings. Further, the small market they had on the premises had a fair selection of items to choose from. If you're looking for a prepared meal however, you do not have many options and may need to travel at least 20 minutes. I figure the location was great for hiking around Mt. Rainier, and it's probably good in the winter time for skiing and snowboarding as well; although not many food options. Our main issue in our stay was our upstairs neighbors and some bedroom decor issues. The bed was very uncomfortable and small, lumpy even. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to use a whicker headboard, but it was probably same person who decided to put a chandelier 4 ft from the top of the bed. I sat up at night one time and I hit that darn thing. Also they had this like wood-stick decoration thing that would poke my partner every time she got up her side of the bed. Just jarring. But the main issue for the reduction of stars was the night time noise. So many creaks by our upstairs neighbors, stomping around all night, sounded like they were moving furniture from 8-11pm. Sheesh. Prices were expensive, but they all are so what're you gonna do. Overall: stay coulda been much better if it weren't for our upstairs neighbors, but 3 stars seems fair

Yelp
They lied, and want to make money regardless of covid19 health risk. Let me explain: On 3/9/2020, I booked a room for two nights for $660 for a short trip on 3/28 to 3/30. Before I booked, I wanted to make sure the rooms were refundable because of the covid-19 health scare. The website's reservation system has a broken link for the terms and policies. So I called the hotel directly and talked to a nice lady. She said the hotel is very clean and they dont think there's any issues with COVID-19. However, she said they are working with guests and are flexible with cancellation due to the crisis. That was reassuring so I booked. So I went ahead and booked the rooms. The next day, World Health Organization announced a pandemic and drastic restrictions were taking place in Washington. I did not want to get on an airplane and fly to Washington for snowboarding considering the health risk. So I contacted the hotel and Maureen (the hotel manager) said no refunds but they could try to sell my room to someone else and then offer my credit.. Obviously they are losing bookings every day so there's no way that "credit" would actually amount to anything. I told Maureen her front desk told me refunds was okay before I booked, but she ignored it and just said covid-91 is many miles away and their rooms are very clean. She also said I just booked the room a few days ago so I should have known there's a covid19 scare. She then said being scared is not a reason for a refund., In a time when all the airlines and hotels are offering refunds and cancellations even on non-refundable tickets, these guys are lying, bait and switch, all for $660 bucks? Maybe they are afraid their business will not have customers in a few months so they are trying to keep what they can? Update: The whole crystal mountain ended up closing on 3/14/2020 and they still refuse to refund!!! I am filing a complaint with the BBB, the local congressional representative and disputing this fraudulent charge.

Yelp
My wife and I took a long weekend with our almost four year old to take her on her first hikes - Alta was a great base camp! The room was cozy and clean, with a functional kitchen. There are limited options for groceries or coffee in the area, but their "store" is well stocked with stuff to pop in the oven or microwave - and shockingly the prices are about equal to what you'd pay at a real store. We arrived about six hours before check in, and not only did the desk hold our bags for us, but when we came back after a day at the mountain, they had put everything in our room without our even asking. The hot tub is a decent size, and the pool was warm on a cool evening. The resort may not be the fanciest thing in the world, but we got a good price and had a great time.

Martin B.

Yelp
I think with many reviews, the feedback is largely based on the price and the perceived value for that price. We paid $249 a night plus, taxes and fees for a total of $879 for three nights. Overall I would say the stay was okay but not for that price. Pros: It's a nice location and feels secluded and peaceful. The staff is great and seemed nice at each interaction. The trails around the grounds are really nice and perfect for kids. The scavenger hunt activity they have was a lot of fun for our 3 1/2 year old. The place is very family friendly and the sense of community is great for the BBQ and smores events. The game room is in an old, very historic building, which is great. It's also pretty close to Crystal Mountain resort and Mt. Rainier. Cons: The rooms are okay but not worth $249 a night. The "kitchen" is barely functional. They advertise limited cell service through boosters and internet but none of that works. They really seem to promote the pool and hot tub but both were disgusting and would most likely give you a rash or infection if you went in them. If you spend time in your room and want a outdoor experience, you will not get it. Your view is either the gross pool or the parking lot. They have lots of game equipment outside but most of it is completely trashed. Overall it was fine but I think it's about $125 overpriced for what you get. For that much money you can stay at Suncadia and have a great experience with really nice accommodations.

Yelp
We were excited to visit Crystal Mountain for the first time, to celebrate our 10th Anniverary. We booked a room at Alta over a month in advance; the night before our trip my mother was rushed to the ER, and into emergency surgery with unexpected health complications. As she was visiting from NY to watch our kids for the weekend, we didn't have any way to proceed with the plans to visit Alta Crystal Resort. I promptly called the resort, and informed them of our situation. The response we received from the manager - void of any empathy or genuine care, and through another employee - was completely disheartening and disappointing. They would 'consider' refunding a portion of our $800 'if' they could resell any of the nights, but only via gift card. The manager did not return any of our attempts to contact her; we tried via email and phone several days in a row. We are aware of the cancellation policy; what is most disappointing is the lack of genuine care, shown by lack of response and willingness to discuss a solution for both sides. While we don't expect a full refund, we were hoping to come to a comprise, given the situation and spend of over $800, that is completely wasted. Needless to say, we will not be visiting Alta Crystal for the first time in the future, and will be letting all of our friends and family not to do the same.

Go Longhorns F.

Yelp
NO hot water after a long day hike. Incredibly slow (NON existent until the next day) customer service. The price is due to the lack of options in the area - if you can, plan to stay somewhere else . The windows were broken and we had to fix it ourselves upon arrival . I've stayed at many cabins along the Pacific Northwest - and this has got to be one of the worst experiences I've had so far . The couple more hours of additional driving to avoid this place is completely worth it.

Emily S.

Yelp
This place is sort of a diamond in the rough. I read reviews where people were upset with the cancellation policy and I would agree it's pretty draconian. The rooms are expensive and they don't provide breakfast. You have to pay to borrow movies, except the documentaries are free. They do, however, make up for it with their lovely grounds, warm pool and fun for kids. My kids loved the (long) scavenger hunt and the fun prizes at the end. Our loft chalet made me a bit nervous, with my young kids going up and down the ladder. The bed in the loft area is very close to a short wall on the second floor. So I wouldn't recommend younger kids up there, but mine loved it. Overall, it was a nice diversion for our camping at Rainier and we would return!

Don K.

Yelp
Fair accommodations, Fair location (not great) Good people working there. HORRIBLE Management. April is simply awful. They have policies that common sense cannot over-ride. It's really a shame that one person can ruin a business and experience.

Sue L.

Yelp
Wish there was a zero. Took 7 employees on a short retreat. One night for staff, an additional night for Dr and his wife. After just one night decided to cancel second. Absolutely no sleep as our cabin had a very loud, annoying "critter" chomping through plastic and hunting food. All night!! This was no chipmunk. When the animal jumped from the table it sounded big enough to be a cat!!!!! Next morning reported it. They offered to refund "some" money and a different accommodation, a room instead of a large cabin. The room was horrible. Stained carpet, stained chair. Burn hole in couch. We said no and left. Also, while searching for the "animal" we found a huge rat trap under the sink...obviously this was a recurring problem. Yet keep renting the cabin. Now here is the kicker......in an email from the front desk person...we were told, "Unfortunately being in the forest, we have occasional visitors." REALLY?????? We will NEVER return and we will tell everyone we know!!! This could have been handled much differently...and should have been!!!! Customer Service???? None.

Brian L.

Yelp
A terrific, family friendly, low key place to enjoy one of the best corners of America. Mount Rainier is beyond amazing. It's a true gem of a place. At Alta , you are close to the action . You can relax or hike or swim or soak in the hot tub. We cooked our own meals in the fully furnished chalet. We played the outdoor games, saw Elk at the trailhead and bought ice cream in their cute store. The hosts were awesome. Greg and Andrew (I told you I would mention you :-) were very kind. Accommodations were really good . Nice value too for everything you get! We've been twice and should be back again in 365 days for next year's Anniversary!

Joshua T.

Yelp
Very pleased with our stay. Blown away by several things. The cabin was beautiful that we stayed at. Andrew was immediately welcoming and able to accommodate us. I called the morning we were supposed to check in asking if it's possible we check in at noon instead of 4 pm. This is because we have three young children ( two are infants) that need their naps at noon. Andrew went out of his way to make sure housekeeping turned over our room first. Next he made sure we had a pack and play (baby crib) and an additional baby crib delivered to our room ASAP. When I saw the crib and pack and play they were the cleanest I've ever seen in a hotel. He literally took the bed sheets and blankets straight out of the dryer and hand delivered them to me. These small things made us feel very welcome and pleased with the service.

Lucia C.

Yelp
Beautiful resort and the service was exceptional. We unintentionally arrived early, and upon check-in Jennifer was friendly and accommodating, able to get us into our room early. For how frequently I am met by sassy front desk staff that seem "put out" by your existence, Jennifer was a breath of fresh air. She was calm and collected, with an attentive attitude that made us feel like we had entered a 5 star resort atmosphere. Although Its a bit pricey, its well worth the cost considering some of the other options near by dont have the same cozy feel. We stayed mid week, so it was quiet and relaxing with a romantic winter landscape. The room was nice, and impeccably clean. It included everything we needed for a cozy cabin weekend including plentiful kitchen utensils and Seattle's Best Coffee for the morning. The fire place really made the room, and I truly appreciated the replenished wood each morning. The bedroom was a bit small and I would have preferred a king size bed, especially after a long day of skiing. We enjoyed the hot tub, but at one point the jets broke and were not able to be fixed during our stay. That being said, I was truly saddened to leave, and wanted to remain enchanted in this winter wonderland as long as I could! I will definitely be back, as all around it was a wonderful two night escape.

Yelp
We had a WONDERFUL time at Alta! It's very convenient to stay here when you plan to ski or board at Crystal, and the folks there make it beyond comfortable! We thoroughly enjoyed the (ski nerd) movie night and bonfire with free drinks and snacks as well as the 90 degree pool and hot tub. And, our room, was warm, cozy, modern and nice to be in. The full and useful kitchen with nice dishes, complimentary coffee was unexpectedly fantastic- much better appointed than a typical private vacation rental at that! Everything was remarkably clean and nice. And then, as if that wasn't enough, the people were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They have a very special thing going on there, and we'll never forget our wonderful weekend there!

Nick W.

Yelp
We wanted to visit Crystal Mountain this year to see the snow and to try one of the guided snowshoe tours (available from the rental store at Crystal Mountain). We were also keen to find a log cabin style accommodation nearby and after doing a bunch of online research we found Alta Crystal Resort! After looking at all the alternative accommodation at the base of Crystal and nearby, it was abundantly clear that Alta was the right choice. It looked scenic and well kept (many other accommodations at Crystal Mountain looked tired and in need of renovation), the honeymoon cabin ticked all the boxes for what we were looking for in a cozy log cabin (on steroids!), and the resort is only 10 mins down the road from Crystal Mountain (really easy drive). Every aspect of our stay was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and the two story honeymoon cabin was cozy & charming (+ offered full amenities including kitchen). They also have a awesome heated pool and hot tub at the resort...it glows a beautiful blue color in the evenings and looks incredibly inviting. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and both nights the staff put on complimentary events (movie night with free snacks, and a bonfire with s'mores and free beer/wine). Overall, we had a great weekend at Crystal Mountain and Alta Crystal Resort was a big part of why the weekend was so enjoyable. We definitely made the right choice staying there and next time we return to Crystal we will definitely choose Alta again.

Yelp
Located just outside of Greenwater within Mt. Rainier and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest this is a year round resort. If you're looking for a quiet secluded location that is only a couple hours drive from Seattle this is your spot. Lots of hiking and biking trails in the summer and a 20min drive to Crystal Mt ski resort in the winter. In the winter when rooms fill up at Crystal Mt this is a great alternative. If you forget to bring a food item they have a small grocery store to fill your needs. Steven and Vivian own this place and you can tell by how happy they always are that they really enjoy being there and taking care of their guests. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Victoria K.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience staying at Alta Christal! A very nice and cozy atmosphere, super comfortable bed and high quality linens plus a hot tub to end your day after hiking! The surrounding area is very nice to explore too- make sure you do a scavenger hunt that they offer! We loved every minute of staying there! Definitely coming back during the skiing season.

Yelp
My Fiance and I received a weekend at Alta Crystal Resort as a Christmas present and we spent this past weekend there (January 8-10, 2016). When we arrived, check in was very easy and the receptionist not only took care of all our paperwork but personally walked us over to show us our unit and advised which spot we park in. The facility has a very rustic and lodge like feel which is perfect for the mountain atmosphere. Our unit featured updated decor, granite counters and a wood burning fireplace stocked with fire making materials. We also loved that our unit had an awesome kitchenette and dining area complete with coffee and tea ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. There is nothing better after a long day of skiing than hopping into a hot tub surrounded by snow. Being that the hotel internet was a little slow (due likely to the number of people bogging down the speeds) we actually loved ditching our phones and enjoying the hot tub surrounded by snowy nature. If you're looking for some great accommodations for a ski weekend, Alta was wonderful :)

Yelp
It was cozy on the inside, but do not go here if you want to be close to the mountain to ski!! It was very far from the mountain. The business people are also very ungenerous. When my family and I visited for our ski trip, a heat wave happened to hit. So the mountain was closed down and no one was allowed to ski. The Quick Silver lodge (which is right at the foot of the mountain, perfect location for skiers, though it is not as luxurious as Alta Crystal Resort) sent everyone an email to offer refunds since the mountain closed down. However, Alta Crystal Resort refused to give a refund and they could not even find our reservation even though we had the confirmation in email. Needless to say, our vacation was pretty much ruined. We ended up staying. The inside was cozy, but our experience with the management left a bad taste.

Yelp
Overpriced. The quality of the hotel is similar to what you find at a Best Western, but we paid $360 per night. So, while you'll pay "Four Seasons" prices, don't expect that level of quality. The hot tub was lukewarm, the bath tub didn't plug, one of the mattresses was very saggy, and the room didn't have enough newspaper and kindling items to start a fire in the fireplace. They fixed the bath tub the next day, but for $360/night, I would expect this to be working. We brought our dogs, and the dog fee was $50 PER DOG, which I thought was excessive. The owner said that having dogs required an extra hour of cleaning. Well, that should be about $20 or $25 extra, not $100 extra. And charging "per dog" is a big excessive too. Our dogs didn't make any messes. We clean up after our own dogs. Finally, the owner nickles and dimes you too. They have a great movie library, but they charge $6.50 per movie, and the Internet access is way too slow to stream Netflix or Amazon Prime. For $360 per night, I would expect either fast Internet access or free movies, but we received neither. After paying the $720 bill for two nights, I asked for some ice for our cooler before we left. The owner asked for $2.50 for the ice! When I said I wasn't going to leave a five star review, he followed us to our car with two ice trays and offered us free ice. Too little, too late. If you've read this far, let me point out the positives. The rest of the staff was wonderful-- very nice, courteous, and helpful. The room was clean. The outdoor bbq dinner with smores was excellent, and that was a great value at $15. There are also some great hikes accessible right from this property-- one with a flowing river and waterfalls. I probably would have given this place a higher rating it were more reasonably priced.

Yelp
We stayed at this place a few times. Overall I would agree that it's overpriced for what you get. The biggest issue we just had recently is the water in the hot tub. Our swimsuits became blue, we had streaks of blue on our skin, and our nails got blue tint. The rooms both times had a noticeable cigarette smell right when you open the door. It feels as if it was allowed to smoke in the rooms before so the smell is in the carpet and the furniture. Pros: The setting is beautiful, the smores event is great. For the price we would for sure expect better quality of the room. At minimum good quality of water in the tub/pool and no smokey smell in the room.

Yelp
Needs updates asap (ventilation system, old dirty carpet, old non-working appliances, old cabinets) , although it's a non-smoking resort we suffered from harsh cigarette smoke smell in the loft room. We stayed there last week and the night was really challenging - I would give it a 0 star, added one star for the pool and one for comfortable beds. BUT smoke smell was terrible on the second floor and esp.in the bathroom there (and we had two small kids with us and they had to smell this). We complained and were given an air re-freshener but it didn't help (had to apply several times during the evening and night). Moreover it was hot and stuffy upstairs. Our dishwasher also didn't work. Although I complained about all these several times no discounts were offered or anything besides the air-freshener, so here is my honest review. Would not recommend this resort to anyone until needed updates are done.

Yelp
We had such a pleasant stay at Alta Crystal Resort. I appreciate some seclusion, so I loved that we weren't right next to all of the other hotels. The suite we stayed in was super cozy, and we definitely took advantage of the heated pool and hot tub in the evening. My only note is that I wouldn't stay here for less than 2 nights. Our group only stayed one night, and since check in is on the late side (4 pm) and check out on the early side (10:30 am), it's probably a better value to stay at least two nights.

Yelp
This place is noisy, has few amenities (certainly not the café or nightly BBQ as advertised) and there is no real place to eat a meal unless you return to Enumclaw. The night was miserable due to the noise from the family above us and the mice. Yes, they were speeding by and when we couldn't see them we could still hear them. The guy at the front desk acted like he didn't know about the problem but there were mice traps in the closet so, yes he did know but nice try. He generously removed the $7 ice cream from our $350 bill. The shower didn't drain so if you don't like standing in soap soup while showering, sharing a room with mice, or being kept up all night by the noise, then go ahead and book a room. Otherwise, your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here! Our family of 6 reserved a loft suite and there was plenty of room for everyone! They had a lot of fun activities for the kids in the evenings which they loved. The only thing that kind of stinks is check in is so late 4 and check out is super early 10:30. So even though we stayed for 2 nights it only felt like a day!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Honeymoon Cabin on our wedding night and the following night because of its proximity to Crystal Mountain Resort, our wedding venue. The cabin was adorable and the mid-summer woodsy setting quite beautiful and refreshing; we're glad we stayed there. Those positives alone are enough of a reason to return, but unfortunately we won't be back and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone - we had a few too many negative experiences with the staff that left us unenthusiastic about returning to this beautiful place. It's too bad because the cabin would've made for a meaningful anniversary spot. IN A NUTSHELL: The staff's lack of interest in providing good customer service was noticeable in small but bothersome ways throughout our stay. They weren't outright rude, but cumulatively there were enough hings were enough to disturb our stay. 1) About a year prior to our wedding, we considered booking a big block of rooms at Alta Crystal Resort for our guests. We got such little enthusiasm from them that we ended up giving up on the idea (one-word answers, being redirected to the group coordinator's voicemail multiple times with no calls returned, having to prompt them for information on bookings and use of their facilities, etc). It was a little weird having to call and email multiple times, but their attitude was even weirder because usually businesses love groups and are quick to follow-up and/or offer services to their customers in general. We still felt it would be worth booking the honeymoon cabin - it seemed perfect for our purposes. 2) During our stay, we were a little taken aback by how the staff dealt with two little cabin housekeeping issues that we brought to their attention (the main light in the living room was out, and the landline was not working). The issues themselves didn't bother us - these things happen - but the way they were handled was bothersome. It would be normal courtesy to say something like "Oh, I'm sorry, let me see what I can do to get those fixed for you right away", but instead, her tone of voice seemed uninterested and it didn't seem to occur to her that a quick "sorry" or some kind of will to help her customer was expected. She said that the landline doesn't work often and reset it, which solved the problem, but if it happens often, shouldn't there be something to let their guests know (such as a short note next to the phone saying that the front desk can reset it)? (The consistency of a connection is probably out of their control, based on the location, but at least something would be common courtesy.) As for the light, she said that the ceiling is too high up for the light to be replaced, instead of offering to have housekeeping come in right away. (We ended up not having it replaced because it was not worth the effort in pushing for that when she seemed pretty insistent on not having it fixed until after we checked out.) 3) We asked for DVD recommendations among their rental collection, particularly any documentaries on Rainier or the area. She just pointed to a few and said that they might be good. Again, I felt like I had to prompt her to explain what they're about, or she hadn't seen them, then at least make some other suggestions before the conversation died and she went back to her computer. 4) We saw that a selection of "gourmet" prepared meals were advertised on their website. This was an amenity we were looking forward to, and a reason that we booked our stay because we thought that it would make a perfect romantic stay-in date night for our second evening as husband and wife. The landline wasn't working in the cabin so we went to the front desk to order and paid for two meat dishes at, according to the descriptions on the website, each came with a small side (potatoes, rice, etc). We were disappointed when the meals arrived for a few reasons. Firstly, they looked and tasted like the tiny frozen prepared meals you'd find next to the ice cream aisle at a grocery store, but two or three times the price (complete with the ice that accumulates on the interior of the plastic wrapping when it's been in the freezer too long). Additionally, one of the dishes didn't come with its side dish. When we asked, they said that they were all out of that particular side. No apology...no offer to discount (or credit) the meal, or to bring a different side dish in its place...just the same uninterested tone of voice stating the facts. At this point, I was getting pretty frustrated, but I remained calm and politely asked if they could please bring something in its place. It was strange that I had to ask for that, and strange that they didn't mention that they were out before we ordered and paid. Eventually they brought a tiny little side dish of frozen rice or potatoes (I don't remember which; I only remember that it didn't match the rest of the meal). So many things went wrong, and if I hadn't inquired I don't think they would've made an effort to help.

Yelp
We stayed here in July and it was fantastic with kids. After a night at rustic Paradise in sharing two very small beds, our family was happy for great Condo with kitchen. There was an activity every night with free drinks for adults and kids. The scavenger hunt that took us al over the property was a hit and a great walk thru the woods. While the resort is not located at the foot of the Crystal Mtn ski resort, it is a short 6 mi drive up to Crystal where you can hike, go on a horseback ride, or ride the Gondola up to what might be the best view of the Cascades anywhere. The owners were awesome, knowledgeable and friendly and hung out with the guests every night. The kids loved the pool and hot tub and played in the field that had toys galore to choose from.

Yelp
This place is perfect. I absolutely can't believe I'm the first to find this resort and add it to Yelp!! This resort lies deep within Mt. Rainier and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest. Therefore, it's a little tough to find, but just MapQuest it, and it will take you straight there with no problems at all. It's nestled in the peace and quiet about 5 minutes away from the Mt. Rainier park entrance. It's about a 10 minute drive up into Ohanapecosh, which is where it starts to snow and there are 20+ foot walls of snow year round. You can still go snowshoeing and play in the snow up there. You can also stay in the actual park and go hiking, explore the Glacier Basin, and go see Skookum Falls (no snow down here). You pretty much get the best of both worlds, especially on a nice, sunny day. NOW, for the actual resort!! When you show up, you're greeted by the families black labs. SO cute! They're very friendly! The staff are very welcoming people and very patient. They will give you a map of whatever trails or parks you would like to visit, and then explain them in detail to you so you're not just sitting there staring at the map wondering what to do. They will take you to your room. It's not hard to find or anything, it's a small resort. The rooms are so charming! My boyfriend and I had just gone up here the weekend before Memorial Day weekend and we only requested a one bedroom chalet suite because it was only the 2 of us. But we had a full sized kitchen completely stocked with utensils, cookware, dish towels, dishwashing soap and all. We had our little bedroom with a very comfortable bed, full size living room with a futon couch, fireplace, TV equipped with DVD and VCR, papasan chairs to sit in, extra blankets and pillows, and a bathroom with heaters in it. They also provide you with amenities, such as: shampoo, body soap, lotion, etc. It was VERY cozy! They also have loft suites (2 bedrooms) and honeymoon cabins. They have movies to rent in their front office, which also serves as a little store. They have all kinds of food for sale, which is good because the nearest gas station/ store is about 40 miles away. They have non-perishables and eggs, bacon, pancakes, all kinds of food to cook. And it's for cheap. They have a 90 degree year round heated pool, and a hot tub. And since there are only like 20 rooms here, we pretty much had the run of the place and had everything to ourselves. They thrive on trying to make this very relaxing and very peaceful, and they stick true to it. Not once did we ever even hear anyone's voices or music, it just felt like us in our own personal cabin. They also have a huge field where they host bonfires, kaeroke and other special events on a nightly basis. When we went, they had a huge bonfire and they provided smores and hot chocolate and everything. They also have a recreation lodge with sofas, big screen TV, kitchen, foozball table, ping pong table to just sit around and relax! It was so nice up here. I loved it! BONUS** My boyfriend and I went exploring around the area and we found a bunch of different hiking trails that lead to a clearing where you can see the peaks of a bunch of different mountains and there is a rushing creek that flows right beside the resort that leads right down into the glacier basin. So you can get a sneak peek of what the whole area has to offer. We are going on deployment soon and want to do a bunch of things- but we are making it a point to come up here again so we can enjoy it!!!

Yelp
There's much to like about this place. It is located within the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest minutes from Mount Rainier National Park and the Crystal Mountain Ski Resort. There's an outdoor pool and hot tub. You can hike, mountain bike, cross country ski, or snowshoe right from the resort as it has its own trails connecting to national forest trails. The owners and staff are friendly, knowledgeable about the area and love the outdoors. I stayed during a weeknight in the winter and it was pretty quiet. The rooms pick up some outside noise however, so when its busy it may be a little noisier. It is a place for families and couples however, so I can't imagine things getting too loud here.

Yelp
We stayed for two nights in a loft. The office staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the nearby trails. The kitchen is serviceable but could be better. The stove and oven were underneath the ladder/ stairs to the loft. The very small refrigerator had a freezer that allowed our ice cream to melt. Bedrooms and bathrooms were okay, but not worth the price we paid. You are basically paying for location. The really horrific part of our stay was the ants in our room. They were everywhere! They emanated from a crack in the wall above one of the beds in the loft. They came out in droves at night. My son couldn't sleep in his loft bed and had to climb into bed with us. My husband tried sleeping on the couch, but was attacked by ants. I yanked a couple of ants out of my hair when I felt them crawling at about 3AM. And these ants are huge. This all happened in the middle of the night; so, there really wasn't anyone to call. We were scheduled to check out the next day and told the office folks of the ant problem. They said something like "Oh, yes. We know the ants are a problem this time of year but we didn't have time to spray in your room before you arrived." Seriously!?! We arrived at 8:30 at night and check out time is 1030. So, they had 10 hours to spray our room prior to arrival and did nothing. Completely unacceptable. They didn't offer any sort of appeasement for the ant fiasco. Really just treated it like no big deal. Definitely would not stay again and would not recommend.

Yelp
Alta Crystal Chalet is my favorite place to stay at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort. Love the hot tubs, love that it is so close to the slopes, and with the new lifts added at Crystal the skiing has passed Stevens Pass as my favorite Washington Ski Destination. I actually stayed here over night in the summer once too, and took the lifts to the top of the mountain (still cold at the top even in August, bring a coat). We hiked along a ridge there looking out at Mt. Rainier. We had a beautiful day and it was crazy cool. Its right on the corner when you make that last turn to get into Crystal.

Yelp
Loved our stay here. This is a great place to go as a family - their rooms are suites, so you can spread out and have plenty of space. The kitchens in the suites are perfect for making a dinner and hanging out by the cozy wood stove on chilly evenings. It was a very comfortable place to stay. Wifi is included, too. Recommendation: try to get a top floor suite. I woke up numerous times due to being a in first floor suite and hearing the upstairs guests coming in late/leaving early. They have pet-friendly rooms, too. Big bonus. All in all, I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to get away mid-week in May 2011, and I had a few criteria to satisfy. The destination had to feel remote but also had to be easy to get to. Additionally, I needed to find lodging that allowed dogs, because mine were coming with me. Before too long I'd narrowed the possibilities to two: Kalaloch Lodge on the Pacific Coast of Washington state; and the Cascades. When I looked closer at lodgings, I saw that dogs were allowed at Alta Crystal Resort just south of Crystal Mountain. Then I compared the rooms at Alta Crystal to the rooms at Kalaloch. Alta Crystal was the clear winner. The rooms were bigger, had a kitchen, fireplace, wireless Internet, landline phone, television: it would feel remote and attached at the same time. The staff, Chris and Travis, were personable and happy to see us. Chris walked us to our room and pointed out the wood and kindling for the beautiful fireplace; if we didn't want a fire of course we could just turn on the heat. Early on it looked as though my old dog wouldn't be able to make it up the stairs to our room. When I mentioned to Travis that I might want to change to a downstairs suite, he said no problem, just let me know. He or Chris would call to let us know the hot tub or pool was ready in the mornings. We had a great time at Alta Crystal. The dogs ran all over the trails. The dogs jumped in the water. The dogs slept in front of the fire. I hiked, took photos of the beautiful woods and mountains, checked my email at the room, watched the network news, cooked in the kitchen. For an eat-out lunch, we drove back to Greenwater, about 12 miles, and had the perfect cheeseburger at Naches. Across the street is a coffee place, and a door down from that is a general store where we picked up some beer, a Duraflame log, and some Jiffy Pop popcorn. This was just what we needed for a quick getaway. I left wishing I could have spent a week there.

Yelp
What a great place to stay near Mt Rainier. We were there Sept, 8, 2014 3 days there and it was a perfect place to be near Crystal Mt and Mt Rainier. They have a great pool and a hot tub. The unit was clean and everything in was just perfect. We are over 65, and it fit our needs perfectly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We lost power one morning, but they did respond quickly and the back up generator did go on. We would stay there again. A very nice setting and not far from the entrance of Mt Rainier. DJ Hunter .

Yelp
Really disappointed in Alta Crystal resort. First of all, the pictures of the unit we requested was FAR older and not as nice as the picture they have on the website (especially for the price). I'd equate the quality to that of a Super 8, honestly. The kitchen is TINY and laid out horribly with the stove under the loft ladder and next to the wall telephone so while you cook, the phone falls in your food and you hit your head on the stairs. The sleeper sofa and the double bed upstairs were a nightmare...so uncomfortable we put the mattresses on the floor every night. The loft stairs have no protection/gate which is scary and the banisters upstairs are absolutely not to code since all our kids age 4-7 could fit their heads through. The firewood in the unit was wet so it took an hour and all the wood to finally get a fire started. The only good things about this place was the warm pool (not hot at all), hot tub, sledding hill, and Sat night smores/drinks. Don't get me wrong, we had a good time but this place is WAY WAY WAY over priced for the quality and desperately needs a remodel.

Yelp
This is the worst resort you could ever stay at. We decided to rent out a cabin for four people for a friends birthday and two of our friends decided to stop by and say hello since they were in the area! The guy said that the two people weren't even aloud on the premises because it's a cabin for four people only. Totally understandable if they were staying the night but they couldn't even come by and say hi and have a drink. If you're willing to pay $300/night to be held hostage this is your place. The guy was extremely rude and even hid by some trees to make sure our friends left like a stalker. They also have a dog area which is super cool, except the desk lady came out to spy on us WITH HER DOG. Apparently dogs aren't aloud unless you work there or feel like paying $50's a night. Whattttt!!!! I've stayed in resorts all over the states and I have never received such poor hospitality! Don't stay here, You're better off sleeping in a outhouse.
