Yelp
This place is perfect. I absolutely can't believe I'm the first to find this resort and add it to Yelp!!
This resort lies deep within Mt. Rainier and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest. Therefore, it's a little tough to find, but just MapQuest it, and it will take you straight there with no problems at all. It's nestled in the peace and quiet about 5 minutes away from the Mt. Rainier park entrance. It's about a 10 minute drive up into Ohanapecosh, which is where it starts to snow and there are 20+ foot walls of snow year round. You can still go snowshoeing and play in the snow up there. You can also stay in the actual park and go hiking, explore the Glacier Basin, and go see Skookum Falls (no snow down here). You pretty much get the best of both worlds, especially on a nice, sunny day.
NOW, for the actual resort!!
When you show up, you're greeted by the families black labs. SO cute! They're very friendly! The staff are very welcoming people and very patient. They will give you a map of whatever trails or parks you would like to visit, and then explain them in detail to you so you're not just sitting there staring at the map wondering what to do. They will take you to your room. It's not hard to find or anything, it's a small resort. The rooms are so charming! My boyfriend and I had just gone up here the weekend before Memorial Day weekend and we only requested a one bedroom chalet suite because it was only the 2 of us. But we had a full sized kitchen completely stocked with utensils, cookware, dish towels, dishwashing soap and all. We had our little bedroom with a very comfortable bed, full size living room with a futon couch, fireplace, TV equipped with DVD and VCR, papasan chairs to sit in, extra blankets and pillows, and a bathroom with heaters in it. They also provide you with amenities, such as: shampoo, body soap, lotion, etc. It was VERY cozy! They also have loft suites (2 bedrooms) and honeymoon cabins.
They have movies to rent in their front office, which also serves as a little store. They have all kinds of food for sale, which is good because the nearest gas station/ store is about 40 miles away. They have non-perishables and eggs, bacon, pancakes, all kinds of food to cook. And it's for cheap.
They have a 90 degree year round heated pool, and a hot tub. And since there are only like 20 rooms here, we pretty much had the run of the place and had everything to ourselves. They thrive on trying to make this very relaxing and very peaceful, and they stick true to it. Not once did we ever even hear anyone's voices or music, it just felt like us in our own personal cabin.
They also have a huge field where they host bonfires, kaeroke and other special events on a nightly basis. When we went, they had a huge bonfire and they provided smores and hot chocolate and everything. They also have a recreation lodge with sofas, big screen TV, kitchen, foozball table, ping pong table to just sit around and relax! It was so nice up here. I loved it!
BONUS** My boyfriend and I went exploring around the area and we found a bunch of different hiking trails that lead to a clearing where you can see the peaks of a bunch of different mountains and there is a rushing creek that flows right beside the resort that leads right down into the glacier basin. So you can get a sneak peek of what the whole area has to offer.
We are going on deployment soon and want to do a bunch of things- but we are making it a point to come up here again so we can enjoy it!!!
