We stayed here one night while in the Loire Valley visiting some magnificent chateaux. The owner was friendly, and he had his son help bring our luggage to our rooms using a small wagon. There is ample parking on site, with the rooms looking on to a large, pleasant yard with seating areas. Each room has a different theme, with our room being the Africa room. We personally didn't care for the decor, but the room was comfortable and clean, so it really didn't matter. The bathroom is small, but functional. The hotel is close to Chenonceau and Chambord, the two chateaus we were visiting that day. It is also very close to Amboise, where we went for dinner. The breakfast room was sunny with large windows looking on to the garden. The breakfast had extensive choices and was exceptionally good. The owner took care to make sure all of the guests enjoyed the breakfast. I discovered the next evening after departing that I had left a jacket in the closet in our room. I contacted the owner and wired him money for shipping and he is graciously returning my jacket. He has been extremely helpful in setting up the logistics to send it to me, which I have greatly appreciated!

We stayed here for 4 nights, using the hotel as a base to explore the local chateaux. The accommodation was clean, with very comfortable beds, and the food and wine were very good, with excellent breakfasts. But what really made the stay so good was the welcome from the owners. They were lovely - kind, pleasant, professional and they could not have been any more helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

We had a very enjoyable two nights here, our room was comfortable and quiet. The grounds are spacious and the whole establishment has a very relaxed air. There is ample parking.|We had dinner one evening and it was very good. One very minor quibble, tea bags and coffee pods were very limited in the room.|We would certainly stay here again.

Everything was perfect during our two-night stay. The location is perfect for visiting the area. There is a lovely garden for relaxing with a drink, the food was excellent as well as the service. We were given very good information as to the wines and the cheeses. The room was well equipped, comfortable and very clean. One caveat, though: if you have heavy luggage, do not take an upstairs room ! This being a renovated farm house, there is no lift and the staircase is steep and narrow. From our experience, a well-deserved 5-star rating..

Have visited this hotel before during the past 3 years (apols, haven’t reviewed it earlier). The situation is exactly right for anyone heading farther south or south west as we were - it’s an easy drive (3.5-4hrs from Ouistreham), and in need of a stop-over, or to visit the local attractions.||The small hotel is well restored with several rooms having views across a pretty garden. On our latest visit we were allocated a first floor room accessible by outside staircase. The room was just fine: cool, comfortable, well fitted etc. BUT I didn’t like the staircase - treads quite narrow, slippery when wet, and wet wood is difficult to see clearly at dusk and in darkness - the lighting was poor. There is also an awkward, thin door step/metal strip requiring a step over (whilst propping open a particularly heavily sprung door, at the top of the stairs) and when carrying luggage. So, on our next visit I’d specify a ground floor preference!||Restaurant is potentially excellent - indoor and outdoor eating on warm summer nights - we’ve had some inspired meals there over the last few years - and always some excellent local wines recommended by a knowledgable sommelier. However, (beginning to sound as if we drew a short straw this time around!) on our last two-night visit, (we stayed Sunday and Monday) we were told the chef wasn’t working. Two evening meals were terribly disappointing - no real choice, bland, boring, uninspired presentation and, well, just dull. Anyone visiting for a first time on either of those nights would be unlikely to return, I should think.||Did consider awarding just 3 green blobs ... but will give the pleasant, friendly management team the benefit of the doubt... we’ll just have to check stay times in future to coincide with the regular chef’s working night....and opt for a ground floor room. Will definitely visit again.

I stayed for 2 nights in July.||||Chose this Auberge for a trip to the Le Mans Classic in order to get away from the congestion and high prices closer to the circuit.||||Easily found, although ignore the last few kilometres on TomTom if approaching from the north - avoid the single lane tarmac farm track type road and simply head on down to the river and use the main N road, from which the Auberge is signposted. Adequate car parking.||||The hands on owners of this classic establishment speak excellent English and were very welcoming.||||The 1st floor bedroom (approached by an exterior staircase) was large enough, clean, well equipped and comfortable with a good standard of bed linen. Despite the high ambient temperatures the room remained cool with the daytime use of shutters which allowed sleep with the windows open at night. My room faced the rear of the property overlooking the garden and was quiet apart from the occasional passing train some distance away - not at all intrusive. Not sure about any road noise from rooms facing the N road.||||The garden was well maintained and relaxing - dining outside in the evening a particular pleasure.||||Dinner and breakfast were both excellent, highly recommended.||||The small village did not seem to have any alternative restaurants - certainly not a problem for me over two nights, but others staying longer may wish for wish for some variety, which appear to be a short drive away.||||Subject to the above, would be an excellent Loire Valley touring base away from the hustle, bustle (and prices !) of more touristy areas.||||Highly recommended

We stayed 2 nights on a recent driving trip around France. The location is very convenient for touring many of the famous Chateaux of the area and very convenient to Amboise, its chateaux, its market and all the beauty of the Loire Valley. Our room was a very comfortable and quiet room, nice bathroom, lots of storage. The restaurant was outstanding, with great service and wonderful dishes to choose from. Breakfast was among the best we had in France. This was one of our favorite locations during our three week trip in France.

Very classy restaurant with beautifully cooked and presented good. The bouche amuse starter and with coffee were nice touch. It's not cheap. 3 courses with wine around €100. Found the bedroom very good for stopover. Nice bath with shower over and comfortable bed.

Yelp
Fantastic food and bucolic setting. Had the lunch menu and substituted cheese for dessert. Anything you eat will be delicious. Worth the short drive out of Amboise!

Yelp
I cannot say enough about this place! We were in France for 6 weeks and it stands out as our favorite by far! The hotel is lovely and quiet, simple and clean... but the restaurant!!!! It may look simple, but the food was beyond spectacular! The quality of ingredients and the thought put into flavors and textures was beyond compare! We stayed and extra night just to try a few more items on the menu. They also get the BEST cheese. I have eaten my fair share of cheese and after eating it here everything else in France was disappointing. The couple that owns the hotel are the sweetest people! They spoke English, French and I think a few other languages as well. We didn't have reservations, but they took us in. They had an open room because of the gas strike (few people were driving). I would recommend reservations, we got really lucky! The location is great for access to local tourist attraction by car and prices were very reasonable.

Yelp
Restaurant (Dinner): Dinner at L'auberge de Launay was delicious. The dishes were quite creative. The chef used of local ingredients, which really enhanced the flavors. The pumpkin soup and mozzarella cheese entrees (appetizers) were both particularly delicious. The duck (main course) was also very tasty. 85€ for a three-course meal with wine for two people. Above all, the ambiance was very nice. My husband and I came in October when it was quite cold, but I would imagine that it would be lovely to visit during the summer when you could sit on the back patio. Hotel: The hotel was perfectly adequate and well worth the price. The beds are comfortable, the linens are clean, and the evenings are quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful for exploring the region. They will converse with you in whichever language your prefer: English or French. NB: The hotel and restaurant are only accessible by car. Don't use the default directions on Google Maps - take D952 from Amboise instead. From this direction, signs will very clearly point the way. Restaurant (Breakfast): If you are staying at the hotel, a continental breakfast in the restaurant is available upon request for 9€ per person. Like the dinner, the breakfast is a unique blend of local ingredients. It's a bit pricey to enjoy every day, but for one morning it was a lovely treat.
