A haven of peace and calm. Located in a delightful village close to Carcassonne (and only 15 minutes for its airport), the hotel offers a warm welcome. The rooms are well equipped and spotlessly clean. The garden provides the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks at the excellent restaurant, S Comme, located in the old stables attached to the hotel. The owners are very attentive and full of advice on what to see and do in the locality. Breakfast is first-rate, sets you up for the day. Strongly recommended.

We visited Catherine and Eric’s place during summer 2024 with our boys. They are such thoughtful hosts and the area is brimming with things to explore. It’s perhaps less-frequented as a place, but if you’re looking for something varied and with history to spare, this place and the hotel in particular are well worth your time. We loved dinner and breakfast in the garden as well as a little pétanque. The place is charming and I cannot recommend the proprietors enough.

Recently returned from a lovely break staying here. Just outside Carcassonne in a village but a peaceful setting. The owners are passionate about the Château and personally attend to every detail. Breakfast was lovely as is the restaurant next door. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. You need a car to stay here and be careful of the car park entrance which is incredibly narrow. The swimming pool is a welcome addition, set away from the house and whilst swimming completely hidden from view which is a bonus in one way, but if anything was to happen, you’re on your own! Overall a lovely place to stay.

Near the great walled fortress of Carcassonne, nestled in the small community of Palaja, this hotel surprised us with its friendly owners, comfortable accommodations and lovely setting. It deserves its four stars. Breakfasts (included) were always fresh and delicious. A separately run restaurant in right next door and not to be missed.

A truly lovely hotel and beautiful surroundings. Catherine and her team were wonderful and extremely helpful. We received great suggestions of activities/restaurants around the area, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Although the weather was not good, we still managed to relax for a smidgen of sunshine by the pool. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We absolutely love this hotel! So wonderful to return after the trials of Covid to find that the Chateau de Palaja is as wonderful as ever, with Cathy and Eric providing the very best welcome. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, with its beautiful grounds, stylish rooms and interesting artwork. Whilst there we ate at Restaurant S’comme in the grounds, which was as good as ever with excellent food and wine.

Excellent little hotel. Nice relaxed service, good beds and cleanliness. Continental breakfast with fresh bread and good cheeses. Recommended.

This looked fabulous in the pictures, but we were disappointed. We had a ground floor comfort room. The decor was very drab, but the bed was super comfortable and the shower was excellent. The sliding door on the bathroom did not lock. The wardrobe seemed to be child size so that anything long draped along the bottom. This maybe because it was also suitable for disabled, but it didn't really work for us. Being on the ground floor meant that we had to keep the curtains closed as anyone walking past could see in.||Breakfast on the first morning was fine, but the large tray was just plonked on our table, meaning we had to move our plates out of the way. The second morning was totally different. It was laid out buffet style with croissants, eggs, cheese, cereals, fruit etc - all very nice. Sadly on our last morning, the tray was again plonked on the table and we were given stale croissants!||The pool is slightly away from the main building, down some sharp concrete steps, which is not ideal for children or anyone less able bodied. There was also only one sun umbrella - it was very hot during our stay, but if anyone else was using the pool, there was no shade if the umbrella was already in use. ||The location is great for Carcassonne, but I would not recommend staying here for more than one night. It all seems a bit tired and could do with an update.||The saving grace was the fabulous restaurant next door, which is nothing to do with the Hotel.||||So I would describe this as an average Hotel - certainly not luxury and rather overpriced
