It was nice to try the canned fish before buying, and they had a great selection. The canned fish are imported from Portugal and would make great gifts. Unfortunately, the cans we got had some dents in them. We should have checked the cans before taking them from the shopkeeper, but we didn't think to at the time. The cans were a bit pricier, but this makes sense since they come from Portugal. This is a hard to find brand in the United States, so they would make great gifts for others who may not have access to Portuguese canned fish.

Canned Portuguese fish shop located in Taipa food street. Was attracted to the colorful packagings on display.
Some canned fish samples were available in the shop which they gave out on pieces of saltine crackers.
The products were on the pricey side but I guess that's what you pay for quality gourmet food. Also, the attractive packaging makes them great souvenirs too!
They have not only canned sardines but mackerel, salmon and herring too. Too much selection, not possible to see everything.
If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the shop's pet cat too!

A very cute shop selling canned fish. I was quite amused by the sight of a resident cat sitting in the shop, surrounded by many cans of fish which it wouldn't be able to eat. The packaging of the products are very attractive, but they are unfortunately quite pricey.

Apr 2024: shop was smaller than I thought. Had lotsa variety and we were allowed to taste before buying. One will definitely get attracted to the nice packaging and taste test. Felt the items were priced highly for the type of product. Marketed as souvenir food even though can get a much cheaper can of sardines from the supermarket

This "Portuguese" shop was quite a surprise and a pleasant find in the busy Taipa Village amongst countless Chinese food stores and vendors. The shop specialises in canned sardines, tuna, mackerel, etc, all directly from Portugal. Prices were way above those from supermarkets, but you pay for quality stuff. It is a must go place for canned sardine lovers. The shop also had a good display on how canned sardines are made. The name of the shop in Chinese was rather misleading, I strongly suggest the owner to rename it.

For those interested in Portuguese shops and specialty items in Macau, there is a new shop called Loja Das Conserva which has opened at No 9, Travessa do Aterro and Rua dos Mercadores, just 30 seconds off Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, the main street which passes through the city centre of Macau.
Loja Das Conserva is a tidy, well organised and attractive little shop selling canned fish and other goods made throughout Portugal. The tins are well decorated, colourful and collectively help make this an attractive and interesting shop to pop in for a visit. Lots of information about the various canneries being represented and promoted and quite a few variety (ingredients and flavours) to consider buying and trying.
We have bought a handful of the canned tuna and mackerel tins and have found them to taste good. A bit pricy compared to locally made canned fish but you expect that when buying imported goods. Items purchased here are fun to try and can make for good souvenirs for friends and family back home.

The shop specialized in Portuguese canned fish. Lots of varieties and flavors, very tasty but a little expensive.
