We came for dinner on a Saturday (after watching the sunset at Mindel Beach) and liked it so much, we came back again on Sunday. There's a little something for everyone here. A little girl was having a birthday party on Saturday and all the kids were playing on the carousel horses. I saw a couple that looked like they were on their 2nd date. There was a group of guys sitting at the bar outside overlooking the marina who looked like they just came back from a fishing trip. The bartenders were all super attractive (if that's your thing), though like real people, not like the movie Coyote Grill or Coyote Point or whatever that was.
People can sit at the bar, in booths, at tables, at picnic tables, or on the sofa. The weather was mild when we went, but for hot days it looks like they have a fleet of fans around the place to cool folks off.
Oh, and the food... Well, it's mostly bar food. The Katherine Traveler burger (beef patty, cheese, fried egg, bacon, beet, arugula) was well executed, but the Aussie beef tastes a little gamey to my American palette. The pumpkin and pine nut salad was much better. Both were nicely presented. Primarily its burgers, and the fries (chips) were also good.
Full bar, lots of local craft beers and wines. I recall '80's Hits music (Hall & Oates, Prince, Michael Jackson) in the background one night, 70's music (Stevie Wonder, EW&F) another night, but subtle, not too loud, if you notice music, you'll pick up on it, if you don't normally notice, it will be invisible to you.
If we come back to Darwin, this is a place we would surely visit again.
