Where to Eat in Boston

"Bursting with energy, color, and fun, the Fort Point location of Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar sits in a cavernous brick space with wooden floors, chandeliers, and plenty of tequila blended into margaritas and mojitos that are jazzed up with lime, ginger, watermelon, hot peppers, and more. The menu is complete with cilantro-flecked guacamole, grilled fish tacos, dinner salads, and sandwiches like the pork carnitas BLT.Where: 271 Dartmouth St, Boston, MA 02116" - MATADOR_NETWORK

Went there on Tuesday and got a table for 5 of us at 8 PM (I heard tables are tough to come by on weekends, but not such an issue on Tuesday). I had been before, but it had been a while. The food was good before, but it has improved! It is Mexican inspired cuisine, so do not expect "Mexican", but rather something with all the flavors and feel of what Mexican food means! No one was unhappy and everyone was satisfied, Appetizers - cornbread (a must), the regular Guacamole (really flavorful), oysters (a marvelous surprise) and then a rib appetizer that made me think i was in St Louis! Those with the fresh chips and dips might have been enough, but we were prepared for more! The grouper fish tacos (incredible), a seasonal dish of grouper in a green pepita sauce with zucchini fries was awesome, A pork chop dish and i need to find out the secret of making this pork so tender, and a shrimp platter with the extra colossal shrimp that was wonderful. I was truly finished and was bringing home a good portion, but there is dessert - the quatro leche dessert is really good as is the "Beunos Noches" chocolate brownie and some marvelous dish with caramel apples. We obviously all shared bites of everything and no one had any complaints!

I read the previous comments before going to Lolita's, and it's clear to me that they have changed management or made other significant changes since the previous comments were written. I travel frequently to the area, and I have had many people highly recommend Lolita's, as it is a common location for team dinners with my group (and ALOT of money is spent here). Upon arriving, we waited 5 minutes just to be seated, even though they weren't that busy. The music was AWFUL - A woman was repeatedly moaning in sexual pleasure, loudly, while at a work team dinner. The waiter brought us the dry ice/tequila palate cleaners, with no spoons, so we waited for 5 minutes before the waiter came back so we could ask him for spoons. By that time the dry ice effect was gone and the ice was melted. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas, which ended up being extremely weak and more than half filled with ice. We ended up ordering another pitcher, thinking that one would be stronger. Three people shared two pitchers of margaritas and we weren't even the slightest bit intoxicated. At the end of the meal, we received the bill, and we were shocked - They had charged us $48 for EACH pitcher of margaritas!!! $96 total, for weak, mostly ice margaritas. We asked to see the menu, which did not include a price for the margaritas. We then asked to talk to the manager and when he came over he was EXTREMELY RUDE. "What do you want me to do about it, you drank all of them." True, we drank them, but we also had no idea they were going to be $48 a pitcher. He proceeded to give us math lessons... "If one pitcher is the equivalent of 6 margaritas, and 1 margarita is $12, what would you expect the price of a pitcher to be?" Well, we would have gladly paid full price for them, if they would have been strong. We ended up being comped a $7 corn on the cob side. I am extremely dissappointed in the actions of the manager, and the fact that they do not have prices displayed on their menu. Our group will no longer frequent this establishment for our team events.

This place is really interesting, me and my friends all call it the Vampire Bar. You get the vibe that you're inside an exclusive Vampire Club when here. The music is very, very loud but it wasn't a deal-breaker. The food was excellent and the service was good.
