20 Best Places to Visit in Montana—National Parks, Ski Resorts, and Charming Small Towns Included

"At two million acres, this national forest may be one of the smaller in Montana, yet it packs in rivers, waterfalls, mountains, and valleys with wildlife, geology, and scenery that feel downright breathtaking. Many campgrounds and sites are open year‑round, with warmer months especially good for hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Such a wonderful thing to have access to so much incredibly beautiful public lands and forest. Spent some time exploring on some gravel and 4x4 roads before deciding on a nice dispersed camping location on a high spot where we could make a nice dinner while watching the sun set over the mountains in the distance.

We made a quick stop to check out this Seeley Lake in Montana. Gorgeous view of Garnet Mountain Range in the background. The Lolo National Forest was really lush and green absolutely stunning. We were on backroads and heading to a ghost town.

Nice forest. Good fishing. Dirt roads so drive slow and keep in mind that there is no cell service starting from like mile marker 2 or something like that.
