My wife and I spent 4 nights here in mid October, the Trastevere area having been recommended to us by someone we have learned to trust. We love to stay in boutique hotels, the Loly lives up to its billing. ||I booked a superior double room and were allocated room 204. It was a lovely room at the Bach of the hotel with a private balcony. We really enjoyed the peace the room provided after a busy day of sightseeing in the city. Nicely decorated, clean and comfortable, the only shortcoming is something we’ve seen in so many hotel rooms; not enough power sockets in convenient places. A very common problem and absolutely not something that would stop us going back. ||The public areas are gorgeous, stylish without being intimidating, offering a really relaxing atmosphere. ||The location, in Trastevere, was great, plenty of pleasant restaurants and bars nearby. It’s about an hour on foot to Roma Terminus station, 40 minutes to the Colosseum an maybe 30 minutes to the Vatican. Roma is a great city to see on foot. ||The staff were fabulous, arranging transport, storing luggage, nothing was a bother. Breakfast was good, we stayed with cereal, cold meats and cheeses, pastries. The coffee was fresh and the staff super welcoming. The cooked breakfast didn’t tempt us, but I’d suggest that is something more the strength of the big chain hotels rather than a chic boutique. ||We had drinks in the hotel bar a few times, love how Italians free-pour everything! We ate dinner on one evening and were really impressed at the quality of the food. We had the undivided attention of Claudio, who was running the bar and waiting tables and has great taste in music. A lovely evening. ||Neither the cheapest nor the most expensive place to stay, the Loly nails it as a contemporary boutique hotel. We rarely return to a hotel, but this is very likely to get a return visit.
