This is a very beautiful place, with very nice people who do their utmost best to make you feel welcome. Unfortunately, the owner l, Maria, is not cut for this kind of work. I wonder why she chose to work with people at all, since she clearly doesn’t enjoy interacting with guests. I saw how she mistreats the staff and as a group, she managed to be rude, impatient and even sarcastic throughout our visit. Do yourself a favor and find someone to manage the property - people deserve a break from you.

This place is not easy to get to but it’s well worth the journey. The views are breath taking. I think every room has a balcony with a view of the lake and volcanos. It really is more of a retreat get away than a hotel. The food was excellent. The owner and manager are very friendly. I was with a group of 10. and we had the place all to ourself, it felt like our on private resort. If you want a beautiful and quiet getaway, this place is for you.

This stay was by far the best ever for my family. I'm so thankful for the energy of the place, the level of care of every single detail and Maria and Thierry's ability to make us feel so much like every thing would be taken care of. Thierry spoke Spanish with us every chance he got, answered so many of our questions and made excellent recommendations to visit the neighboring town of San Juan La Laguna. They were all spot on. The food from the restaurant was delicious, fresh, and prepared to everyone's liking at every single meal. While it is a remote location (not for every type of family), I loved how kid friendly the staff was. I had my 4yo and my 5mo daughters and they both had an absolute blast. We hit the pool, the huge chess board, me and my husband got to sneak in a massage while the rest of my extended family all had a great time as well. Will definitely be coming back, either by myself or with my entire family again. We'll probably make it a yearly trip. Thanks again for an excellent stay.

My family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed at the Lomas de Tzunuma and HIGHLY recommend it. The place is beautiful and incredibly well taken care of. The room was immaculate and all of the staff could not have been more gracious and attentive. The view is AMAZING. The food was delicious. And there is a lovely pool (with another incredible view) and a sauna, too. Many thanks especially to Alicia for the extra special attention. This is a magical place. The stairs are no joke, so just be forewarned. But my son managed to use it as a training opportunity. And the staff did all the hard work of transporting our bags.

This was my third vacation trip to Lake Atitlán. I have stayed at five different hotels in five different villages and Lomas de Tzununá is by far my favorite. My only regret was that I didn't book our entire 8 nights stay there. The place was immaculately clean, the room was beautiful and there were no bugs [earlier that week I caught a black scorpion in my very spider and buggy cottage in Santa Catarina]. Best of all, it was perfectly quiet at night [some of the villages are terribly noisy all night long!] and I was able to get some needed rest. My sister came along and it was also her favorite of the five places we stayed. We both received top-notch massages from María who has a lovely holistic therapy room at the hotel. We also appreciated the warm-hearted and hospitable owner, Mr. Thierry, who brought out his guitar and skillfully played it while my singer sister sang along to several tunes they both knew. If you're looking for a party scene and bar hopping nightlife Tzununá is not the right village for you. But it does have a clean and lovely community and makes for a great daily launching point in which to explore all of the unique villages around the lake. It's the best place to return to in the evening for a spectacular sunset, a dip in the pool, their friendly and accommodating wait staff and a quiet night's sleep. We will definitely return to this picture perfect hotel.

This hotel has a fantastic view of the lake! The rooms are big, clean, comfortable and have big windows that allow you see the lake from your bed! The hotel is isolated so you would probably have the peer area for yourself if you decide to spend time down there. The food was good and the personnel attentive. I would definitely stay there again!

My husband and I stayed at Lomas de Tzununa for the weekend. What a beautiful, relaxing stay we had. The view of Lake Atitlan and the volcanos from the room and balcony were incredible. We left the curtains open so we could see it as we woke up in the morning. The service during the stay was great, including the meals we ate there. The rooms, grounds, etc. were spotless. We also enjoyed our walks and visiting villages and towns around the lake which we accessed through walking, Tuc tucs and public boats. We can’t wait to go back!

I booked the hotel based on the reviews which talked about the views of the lake and they were definitely true - what an amazing view of the volcanoes and the lake! We took a private boat from Pana to the hotel dock and were super happy to see Andres (the spelling might be off) who came to help us with the luggage. The climb of ~350 steps is definitely worth it! The hotel was clean and quiet; good food at the restaurant where we ate dinner every night. While we did not meet Maria till our 2nd night at the hotel, the hotel helped us with getting a tuk-tuk to go to San Marcos for a coffee tour (highly recommend Shangrila Coffee Roastery). We ended up taking a relaxing walk from San Marcos back to the hotel, which took about an hour.||One thing to keep in mind is that the water is heated naturally by the sun; therefore, if the nights are not very warm, you end up taking a very refreshing shower in the morning; so I'd recommend planning on having showers in the evening.
