Don't know if I will go out of my way to come here and eat lunch again in their cafe but this is definitely the place I'll come to get fresh seafood to cook at home.
Probably one of my favorite sandwiches of all time is a big fat, packed, fresh lobster roll but they are so hard to find in the middle of Orlando. So naturally when I found out Lombardi's has a cafe and serves them, I had to stop in.
I must say while the lobster itself was super fresh and delicious, I was a bit disappointed in the roll as a whole. It was lacking that something special. The bread was nicely buttered, pressed, and toasted and gave the whole flavor that buttery, melt-in-your-mouth crunch you expect with your lobster roll. So they did get the roll spot on. However, it could have used way more lobster, and I was missing some sort of creamy dressing mixed in with the lobster. I tend to like my lobster rolls with that nice mayo-like, dill and lemon dressing, enough to add that extra bit of brightness to the sandwich but not enough to overpower the lobster. However, this one just had chunks of chilled lobster with no herbs, no spices, no dressing. Just plain lobster in a toasted bun. It was yummy but not something I'd go out of my way for again especially considering lobster rolls are not cheap.
The sandwich does come with choice of two sides. The fries were some of the best I've had. Delicious seasoning on them. The coleslaw was decent but was drowning in too much dressing. Tone that down and use some of that to create a creamy sauce for your lobster roll.
The market is adorable and has an amazing selection of freshly caught fish of all types so now I know where to go if I want to make a gourmet fish dinner at home. I'll definitely make a trip back for that at least.
