10 Up-and-coming Destinations Around the World For LGBTQIA+ Travelers

"Queer travelers to Texas, often regarded as a conservative state, have already favorited LGBTQIA+-friendly Austin on their travel bucket lists, but there’s another Lone Star hidden gem hiding in plain sight: Houston. Texas’ largest city, and the most diverse city in the U.S., is a cultural melting pot that will surprise and delight LGBTQIA+ visitors thanks to an incredibly diverse dining scene, arts institutions, impressive performing arts centers and theaters, botanical gardens, and now, even a “unicorn” dessert bar that will speak to the most decadent of queer tastes. Home to the largest LGBTIA+ community in Texas and one of the first destinations to market to gay travelers through a dedicated LGBTQIA+ visitor website over a decade ago, it’s easy to see why Houston's Pride celebration already draws some 750,000+ people each year from every corner of the globe. The city’s gayborhood of Montrose is dotted with bars and queer-packed eateries, easily rivaling the Castro or Chelsea in a uniquely charming Texan way where, yes, cowboy boots are recommended." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Lone Star Court (Austin, Texas) 8 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Vintage Texan-style charm, gracious service, a live music venue on the premises: it’s all not unusual to find all of these among boutique hotels in Austin. But the owners of Lone Star Court committed even more wholeheartedly to a specifically Texan idiom. “Court,” in this case, refers to a motor court — the precursor to the American motel, offering family-friendly roadside accommodations to motorists during its mid-century heyday. The retro inspiration is apparent from the minute you roll up to the hotel’s entrance, an antique auto parked outside, a glowing neon sign pointing you towards reception." - Tablet Hotels

Nice change of pace from typical hotels. Felt like a laid back camping party with live music and fire pits with complimentary smores and beverages. Great family spot. If you’re looking for a quiet hotel, this is not the one. However, I was surprised by how the rooms block out most of the outdoor noise. The service was outstanding, which is the primary reason I’m leaving this review. Mo made our stay exceptional. He was courteous and intuitive—offering us what we needed before we even had to request anything. Mo made this a five-star weekend.

I'm visiting here as my husband is here for business meetings. We've been impressed with the service and how helpful the staff is. I asked for a microwave since the room didn't come with one and they brought us one. The food is good here. The rooms are really clean. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The outside setting has the best vibes. There is lots of things to do in the area.

My honey and I booked a staycation on a whim and Leon made our stay unforgettable. We started with complimentary lonestars and jokes at the door and he hooked us up with an upgrade, a bottle of champagne and a charcuterie plate to celebrate love :-) He was really funny, kind, caring and accommodating and we’ll be celebrating our anniversary there any chance we get. The room was amazing and I couldn’t stop talking about how good the hotel smelled. I wish it wasn’t too chilly to swim bc the pool was beautiful. There were private fire pits available for use to cozy up upon request. Bath bombs and bon bons provided. Fully stocked mini bar. I could go on and on.

This was our sixth stay at Lone Star Court, and it was the best of many good experiences there. We're longtime travelers who do not mind spoiling ourselves. The check-in process with Kylie Edwards was stellar and about the best we've experienced anywhere. She was helpful and informative, going so far as to escort us as she explained recent changes. The room was clean and comfortable. We ate at the Water Trough several times because it had remarkably good food at decidedly reasonable prices. A special shout-out for the kindnesses offered by Nidhi at breakfast. The outdoor bar is a great addition. It's nice to visit an old favorite and see that it's only gotten better.

I was here for business. Food was ok but service was great—especially David who took great pride in making sure our conference room needs were always met! Great courtyard, pool, bar area, live music and fire pits. Sleeping rooms unique. I didn’t appreciate the cold uninviting concrete floors, but the bed was very comfortable and that’s what matters! Rooms could have had more storage. Loved the well stocked fridge and snack box in the room!

If you could rate it 10 out of 5 you would. Location away from the busy downtown with a real nice set up. Rooms big and beds comfortable. But where they really shine is with the team - wow. Well done. A particular shout out to Shemmy from front of house, her Austin tips were superb and Niha serving us breakfast, so gentle and nice. We had an aircon issue and this is where it divides the good from the great how to react to it - fabulous. All the best.

We stayed at Lone Star Court for the Kevin Gates concert weekend, and the experience was top-tier from start to finish. Leon at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and made check-in smooth. Drew went above and beyond helping us with the bikes and making sure we were settled in. The room was super clean and cozy, stocked with a mini-fridge full of drinks and a snack bar — a nice touch after a long night out. The bar stayed open late, and the fire pits outside created the perfect chill vibe. The pool area was quiet since it wasn’t too busy, which made it even better for relaxing. The location was perfect — close to restaurants, shopping, and the concert venue. Only minor thing I’d change is the room lighting could be a bit brighter, but overall it was a great stay with amazing service, comfort, and ambiance. Definitely recommend and would 100% stay here again for the next show!

I was not expecting our stay to be quite so fantastic, but we were really treated with the VIP experience from the moment we showed up, thanks to Leon! Shemmy (sp?) checked us in and was extremely accommodating for our requests and SO nice! We were able to get right to our room which was perfectly located next to the pool bar where Dreamcatcher was an AMAZING bartender, he made me several espresso martinis, which were quite honestly the best ones I've ever had. Leon left a bottle of wine for us in our room with a lovely note and charcuterie arrangement, and even checked in with us poolside. The room was honestly a lot cuter than I thought it was going to be, and everything was truly VERY enjoyable. Thank you so much Leon for making this such a great stay!

Yelp
Mattress was old and a worn; a little "valley" in the middle. Features in room worn; e,g, coffee maker and desk chair In disrepair. Hinge on a very heavy door to the restaurant did not work properly causing door to close dangerously quickly such that it caught my hand. Food and service at restaurant was below average; though the bartender was nice and apologetic for the quality of the food. This place has so much going for it in principle. They just need to improve the quality of the food and service and maintain the property. I did alert the staff to all of these concerns. Over the 5 days of my stay I got no response/follow up and it appears none of my concerns were addressed. LSC - you can do better. You should do better. Disappointing. This was me giving them a second chance in four months. They won't get a third chance

Yelp
Lone Star court is a unique hotel/motel. I guess you would think motel because the doors open to the outside courtyard. The staff is very nice and friendly. The rooms are very clean. Full mini bar and stocked fridge at somewhat reasonable prices. The decoration is cool but the one thing we hated about the place is the huge metal bed frames that dominate the room. They look harmless at first however the frames are larger than the mattresses and the heavy mattresses are attached against the headboard leaving the metal frame jutting out into the room. The steel frames dark color, in the dark room is an absolute trip hazard. Also just as bad is that the leg of the frame is right on the corner as opposed to 10-12 inches under the bed. I was walking by the bed toward the door and I clipped the frame with my shin. The steel frame broke the skin under my jeans and I fell and face planted on the mattress. WTF Didn't see that coming! Minutes later my wife almost tripped over it too. (No we weren't drunk, just checked in lol) We were only there for a night and didn't want to mess with moving, but sure as heck didn't want to hit that darn frame again, so we stuck the provided robes and towels over the corners and used the trash cans as a barrier to avoid tripping or breaking a toe during the night. Other than some drunk noisy neighbors that decided to have a loud conversation outside our door at 2 am everything else was fine. (They quickly went inside and were quiet after my wive opened the door and let them know it was 2am) Overall I gave an average rating because the place really does have potential, and the staff was super nice. Just please do something about the bed frames!

Yelp
To admit- on my own, I probably wouldn't have picked this place since I usually stick to the brand hotels, so kudos to my daughter for claiming this hotel, with a glamping (no tent) vibe. Yes, think glammed up camping cabin. It feels kinda rustic but there's also comfy robes, a spacy bathroom & shower, a full-size, retro, stocked fridge, comfy beds and couch. There's no carpet, so cold feet could be a thing - always pack slippers! Outside, there's firepits to wind down after an evening out (pick-up a s'mores kit in the shop).  There's also a pool, but that didn't fit into my plans this trip. I was working while on this trip, and day 1 spent most of my work day in the restaurant. Because, during the day it's relatively empty, it's quiet, there's food & WiFi - and at 4pm, happy hour kicks off - what more could I ask for in a work-away-from-home arrangement? Late night, there's live music. It's located in The Domain, so convenient to lots of shopping & food, and just - space. This place is cozy, it's in a great location, and a bit quirky, in a fun way. I'll be looking for an excuse to go back

Yelp
What a fine find! This is tucked in to The Domain area and you almost can walk right by it without knowing it's a hotel. We loved our stay (which was too short). We had 7 rooms booked for a quick family get-together. This was the perfect place for this. There are many outdoor seating areas and you can always pull the rockers (outside each room) for more outdoor seating. We were there on a Sunday night so it was quiet. Gas fire pits are lit at dusk and there are many wood fire pits around that could be lit when the weather and conditions allow. Check in was super easy (and make sure you ask for a complimentary Maine Root root beer). The rooms are spacious but have a minimalist vibe (maybe because of the concreate floors). I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MINI BAR LIKE THIS! It's a full retro fridge stocked with everything and anything you might want. The same is true of the snacks available. Complimentary coffee is available in the mornings in the restaurant area. This is a very dog friendly location! I would love to return to explore The Domain area more and to just to continue to veg. Parking was easy and there's one generic EV charger.

Yelp
The hotel is located on the skirts of an upscale mall (the Domain) but it's absolutely charming. I guess you could call it a "boutique" hotel, whatever that means. When you first check in, you get a free beer or a free root beer. That's right. After you check in, they offer you a free beer (Lone Star, sadly), root beer, or other beverage. That's super smart customer service. The room decor is retro funky and very cute. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and far nicer than you get in a chain hotel or motel. The room and bathroom are both spacious, as is the shower. The shower was, in fact, great. There's a full-size fridge in the room, stocked with booze, so don't take anything unless you are willing to pay. There are also snacks in a basket in the room, but they aren't free so word to the wise. There's a smallish swimming pool on the property although it wasn't heated during our visit and the water was really too cold to enjoy. They have a nice restaurant on site with live music on Friday and Saturday nights (check the online schedule). We really enjoyed the music. There are two rocking chairs outside each room door. Parking is free. Rates were reasonable. It's located about 20 minutes north of downtown Austin and I would absolutely stay here again. It's a unique, funky, comfortable hotel that is a far cry from the usual cookie cutter properties.

Yelp
I travel for work, not super often, but enough that I have picky taste for where I stay. I'm usually in a group which insists on one of the two chains, but not for the stay...for the points. I talked them into staying here, for a taste of down-home Texas Charm, and Style. Open-Pit Fires at night, Breakfast Tacos, Big Comfy Beds, and a free Beer/Root Beer at Check In. It's not only a charming, quiet, and warm location...it's got a pool, it's got rocking chairs, and smore kits for kids to use over the fires. Live Music some nights...it's like a tiny bit of Texas Culture in a confined space. Located in the Domain area, its easy walking distance to some fun stuff: Indoor Putt Putt, Museum of Illusions is pretty mind-blowing, or some good food/mini bowling at Punchbowl Social. Great opportunity for team building, dinner conversations, and a walk while doing it! You're just across the main road from TopGolf, the new Soccer Stadium (Football for the Europeans) and some really great restaurants too. Easy access to Highways for events and seeing the rest of the town. Keep an Eye out for the Texas Ambassador, Matthew McConaughey, can't miss that Green Suit and Bongo on Austin FC Game days! The food and coffee at the restaurant are underrated IMO. Always serving warm coffee, the food is always fresh to order, and at night...get some Cobbler and Blue Bell Ice Cream a la mode; like a real Texan. The staff is always engaging and also...kind of out of sight, in a good way! Every morning, for the past 2 stays, my server Winnie, was the highlight of my trip. Just a big smile, good service, and engaging--way above and beyond. Everyone has this time in their morning, when they aren't quite ready for life and social contact--until Coffee, Winnie fixes both and makes you feel like jerk for not waking up happier. Don't stay in a white box, cookie-cutter, hotel...for once. Forget the points. The George Strait is gonna be loud at breakfast, but that's by design.

Yelp
This hotel has a nice courtyard. It's secluded and you get feeling that you're in a wooded area instead of the city of Austin. The food and drinks at the Water Trough was good.
google avatar

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL property and funny its a busy location but doesn't feel like you're in the middle of the Domain once you check in. The grounds felt very private and a cute 50s/60s theme throughout. There's lots of trees which helps it feel quiet and almost like a camp cabin. The check in was seamless and friendly with free beer and water offered at the front desk. The service at the bar /restaurant was also top notch. The room was clean, spacious, and the fridge is stocked with everything you could think of for almost a full bar. The amenities are well maintained and plenty of towels available on either end of the pool.

Yelp
What a cute hotel! My husband and I stayed here for one night and I was impressed by how spacious the room felt. The bed was very comfy unlike the pillows. I don't mind a soft pillow, but it had no support whatsoever, so my husband did not sleep well. The tv comes with Netflix and HBO. This is a tiny detail, but I appreciate that the toilet paper roll is actually in reach of the toilet and they provide cotton rounds as well as q-tips. Our room was stocked with a ton of snacks and the fridge was loaded, but you can never justify the prices for these items. We were there for only one night, so we didn't utilize the courtyard, but it looked so nice! There was plenty of seating and games like corn hole. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
We had such a great experience staying here! We were in town for a wedding & this hotel was a great choice. The staff was very friendly. We also enjoyed the restaurant next door. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Yelp
Moonlight Retreat This was our first time to stay at Lone Star Court and wanted to experience this place where my wife and I had tickets to the Austin FC game, and planned to walk to Q2 Stadium. Parking is available for guests in front and the lobby is like walking into a farmhouse. The welcome staff is very friendly and even offered us a drink (Music Water, root beer or Lone Star Beer). We were provided with information all about the property and amenities. I loved the way the courtyard grounds were designed and took notes for re-landscaping my own backyard. The design of this hotel reminds me my childhood past staying at motels in Colorado. It was like a postcard. There was a nice sized pool with chairs and towels provided. The place was very peaceful and quiet ... We had a room near the pool on the first floor with two rocking chairs in front. As I entered the room was distinct in artistic design where it had a concrete floor, full sized nostalgic refrigerator (stocked with drinks and ice), iron bed and fixtures, and an early 20th century bath. It had a cool vibe and the hard floor did not bother me. Everything in the room worked and had daily service to replace towels and empty trash. The hotel also provided a basket of goodies for purchase. Big cups were provided pour beer into where glass was obviously not allowed at the pool. They seem to thinks about everything to make your stay perfect. There is a restaurant and house bar on site called the Water Trough where after waling in is like a big barn. They have many TVs and live music at night. We ate there for breakfast and lunch during our stay the food was pretty good. We used the pool during our stay and my wife thought it may have been heated a bit but not sure if so. I counted two fire pits and a huge BBQ pit where even purchased two s'mores kits we were busy at the game so took them home with us. It was a very short walk to Q2 Stadium so we will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Well, it's kind of a chic neat place to be. And I think the biggest attraction there is that it's in the domain area and that it has a swimming pool. Basically it is a. Multi-story motel type of place. All the doors face outside to a common walkway breezeway. They do have elevators to get to the next floor if you need it. But there's also plenty of stairs to get around. They have plenty of areas to sit, chat, relax and chill. Of course you could take a dip in the pool, or you could just sit back and find a rocking chair and enjoy the evening. They do also have several fire rings scattered throughout the property. Now to the room, the bed was okay. The walls were thin so you can hear everything going on next door. It's pretty basic, the core was neat It was cool to have a retro style refrigerator inside the room, but the furniture and the decor was pretty basic. The bathroom was well appointed, the standard nice towels, robes, and toiletry items if needed But I stay there again, well only if I have to. Well, the decor and things were pretty basic, the courtyard was pretty well laid out and nice to relax him, but what really made it. It only a three-star experience was that I can hear almost everything going on in the next room. Walls are pretty thin and I definitely needed to have my noise canceling headsets on.

Yelp
We stayed over the Labor Day weekend to attend the UT VS CSU game. This is a wonderful place to stay. We were treated with a Lone Star beer and root beer. The room was clean and love love love the shower. The staff were so friendly and the grounds are well maintained. The only thing I can say that I didn't like was no microwave in the room. With all the wonderful food in Austin, we sometimes had leftovers. Unfortunately we were unable to bring them back because we had no way to warm them up. Thank you to Lone Star for a wonderful stay.

Tamara M.

Yelp
Leaving a one star for this hotel is only because I have to. I would give five stars to the nice gentleman that checked me into my room. Make sure your belongings are not left in the room, unattended as they will get stolen. Then, when you confront management about the stolen items, they will lie and say it was given by you!!!! Management does not respect privacy. Knocks a couple times then enters without permission. When confronted, after coming out of the restroom, to my surprise , that that is not acceptable it doesn't seem to bother the Manager. So, in all, don't take anything valuable that you don't want stolen or anything at that. I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL EVER AGAIN .

Yelp
We loved our stay at Lone Star!! It is located in an excellent area. Close to a bunch of shops & restaurants. It was also close to to the Austin FC soccer stadium! I enjoyed the complimentary coffee, welcome beer and pool. The room had space and we enjoyed the local goodies in the mini bar. We are definitely going back!

Yelp
We book a room here for this last Tuesday for a little Covid birthday party in. We had an excellent time! The front desk associates were so nice and helpful. Check in and out was super easy. The hotel itself is ADORABLE and clean and the room was so cute- the bathroom was gorgeous and love the sweg refidgerator! That fridge was STOCKED for anything you need if you are too lazy to go out! The rocking chairs outside the room are great to overlook the courtyard and we enjoyed eating dinner down under the pavilion with the fire pit going. Awesome location in the Domain and parking was easy, it's free and you need a pass but they gave us as many as we needed! I did make a note when I reserved the room that it was a birthday, and it's little things like what Lone Star Court did that make a good stay great! They had wrote a birthday card, left a s'mores kit for the birthday girl and a HUGE, DELICIOUS piece of cake in the fridge. I really appreciate them seeing my note and delivering something to make the birthday girls day more special. I live in Austin, but plan on staying there again soon just for a safe staycation!!!!!

Yelp
I always enjoy hotels by this group. I would consider this sort of a compact resort in the sense that the property isn't very big, but it has a lot of the amenities that you would want. It is family oriented, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on how much disruption you're open to, but there is not a huge amount of sound leakage from the busy courtyard. While I appreciate the aesthetic of the rooms, they're moderately comfortable. I feel a little bad for running the AC all day, but you kind of need to, in order to achieve the correct temperature at night. Service was kind of hit or miss, when we needed housekeeping to come tidy up the room and refill some of the bathroom amenities, they were on top of it, but when we needed the battery for the safe replaced, that never happened during our stay. The location is remote, but it's a little nook of a commercial center so we felt like there were good dining options and retail nearby.

Lani W.

Yelp
I really liked this property but there were fraudulent minibar charges on my credit card. After reading through other reviews, I see this is a consistent issue. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD! Very frustrating to have to deal with this. They were supposed to email me a receipt and never did. Now I see why...

Teri N.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel with fun retro vibes in an super convenient location in the domain. Some highlights for me: excellent staff who provided great customer service, great happy hour, free parking and WiFi and the cutest property! My room was spacious with lots of snacks and drinks for purchase and a super comfy bed. Would absolutely stay again!
google avatar

Taryn R.

Yelp
Well is this not the cutest hotel ever! Let me just say, the little courtyard, with live music- so nice! Fire pits ands and full fridge of refreshments is really the nicest little touches. The staff at this place is top notch. They are the sweetest bunch of people I've ever met at a hotel, and really treat you like family. The rooms are clean, and spacious. The fridge comes stocked with every beverage you can think of and a basket on the table is full of little munchies. The best is comfortable and the water pressure in the shower is really, really great! They have a restaurant on site, delicious food, would recommend and so easy to just order and take your meal back to your room if you're really anti social and pooped out. I enjoyed my meal by the pool, listening to live music- and loved it so much, went back down for breakfast! This is a must stay at hotel if you're traveling or wanting to be in the downtown Austin area.

Amy P.

Yelp
Had a reservation for tonight and when we showed up I was told they were full. I booked through Priceline and feel that I was probably canceled when someone wanted to book direct. Very disappointed. This hotel should not be on Priceline if they are not going to honor the reservation

Daisy D.

Yelp
This place was so cute! The rooms are fun and quirky with a homey feel and the courtyard is fun and full of activities. All the staff was super nice and helpful and the dog Whisky was super friendly and cute! I would definitely recommend the Lone Star Court Hotel!!

Yelp
One of our favorite locations for SXSW overnight stays or local get aways. We swim, make s'mores, hang out on the campus and walk the Domain when here. It is a noisy place but super fun with a retro motel feel that resembles many place I stayed at in 70's...but much cleaner! We love staying at Lone Star Court and will stay many more times in the future!

Yelp
This is by far one of the best places we have stayed in Austin. Over my almost 2 decades living here, I've stayed in many, many hotels. I truly love it and it has become a basic component of date nights and special occasions. This hotel has pretty much become our go-to at this point. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. They make the entire experience so much more enjoyable. From the check-in through check-out, they are always there to help. We spent the weekend of our wedding here since it was during the early days of covid and couldn't do a full honeymoon and they made it so special for us. The rooms are very spacious with a seating area and a large, old-fashioned fridge filled to the brim with drinks and snacks (for an additional cost of course.) The beds are extremely comfortable, but our favorite is the giant walk-in shower. I dream of getting to have a shower that large one day. We really enjoy the atmosphere of the place. There are rocking chairs outside the rooms to enjoy an early morning coffee or late night drink. They have a decent pool that is refreshing during the day. At night, there are large fire pits that are lit all over and they often have live music at their gazebo you can listen to for free. They have a bar/restaurant there as well, but the only thing we have had from there was drinks (which were nice and strong) and their pecan pie which we absolutely love. If you're looking for a great place to stay while visiting, or wanting a fantastic date night or special occasion hotel, pick this place without question!

Yelp
Stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. Huge wedding party. Staff here was overly friendly and accommodating! Kids loved the courtyard. We all loved the fire-pit. Loved the music playing in the courtyard. Bar was hopping. Bartenders weren't very impressive. They were more worried about visiting with each other. They had that "cool" factor going. You know...I'm really cool and I'll serve you at my leisure. Morning staff in restaurant was very nice and pleasant. Food was ok. Too many local places to try it again. Complimentary coffee was great! Housekeeping was amazing. Always smiling anytime we asked for something. We'd definitely stay here again. Probably skip the bar next time and get everyone to go somewhere else. Great location.

Tamara L.

Yelp
Love it. Super cute decor, comfy bed. It's clean and well decorated and super original. I love the open outdoor concept and the rocking chairs are so so so cute and makes it personal because you can walk by your neighbors. The courtyard is gorgeous. It's just far enough away that you're in the city but it doesn't sound or feel like it. Love the hotel staff and the bar staff. 10/10!!!!!!!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Amazing! Such a fun place to stay, I would 12/10 recommend. Really cute decor and cozy rooms, "glamping". Perfect location with a great shopping scene. The pool was fantastic, and the staff was very helpful. I can't wait to plan a trip back!!

Yelp
The hotel GM William Barba is outstanding in receiving feedback and being helpful. Several issues were addressed during our two week stay. Effort was definitely made toward being a 5-star property. I would recommend staying here because of the fantastic location and the decor plus courtyard/pool area. And for it being such a great dog friendly atmosphere. Do watch the details such as: we had a deal for 3 night stay/pay for two. I worked with the desk manager after receiving the first week's bill that did not give us the third free night--for an entire week. No intention of deceit; it's just that the details matter. Housekeeping team when focused are very good. The fan and light overhead never were fixed; just need to be replaced.

Yelp
Needed a hotel in Round Rock for a business trip. Was about to stay at one of the standard big name chains, when I was told by a local to check out places by The Domain. Lone Star is located right next to The Domain and had reasonable prices, so I decided to check it out. Arrived late on a weekday to check-in. Staff was friendly despite the late hour provided a beer at check-in. Ha! Parking lot was full and I grabbed one of the last spots. We had a bit of a trek since we were located just about the furthest from the front office on the second floor. Rooms: They have rocking chairs outside our room. Room decor is a mix of texan and retro style. Perks: Free Parking Free Wi-Fi Free Continental Breakfast Biggest "mini" fridge ever with a fully stocked bar (so many varieties of each liquor) Snacks in room included chips & salsa, Peanut M&M's Located right in The Domain, so walking distance to plenty of restaurants/bars/shopping Outdoor pool in the courtyard of the hotel Bikes for use One negative, we ordered breakfast one morning at the restaurant and my omelette was average, hash browns were soggy, and the biscuits and gravy were below average; they were barely eaten. I would definitely stay again.

Yelp
I always come to the Lone Star Court because in addition to the amount of privacy I get, I also love the breakfast they serve as well. It's delicious, it's made with care, and it starts the day off right. Lone Star Court embodies a retro theme in the northern region of Austin. There are food trucks in the front of LS Court, and the hotel is walking distance to the Domain. The Domain contains plenty of restaurants, shops, and even a movie theater! Unlike most hotels where you have to walk through the lobby each time, LS Court is structured where there are multiple entry/exit ways to get to your room. Think of this similar to an outdoor mall. My pups love this structure! It allows them to easily use the bathroom outside when they need to. There is also a sweet pool at LS Court that looks just as cute as the hotel.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN ATX!!! Super friendly staff, great bands Thursday through Saturday!!! The new chdf is gonna make this a foodie desrination!! Rooms are super reto cute!!!! Great comfy bed too!! SUPER STOCKED FRIDGE.

Yelp
I'm giving the Lone Star Court a "4" rating based on top caliber bar staff who are friendly, quick, knowledgeable and very cool. I live in the neighborhood and love stopping by. Live music several nights a week is a big plus, and the artists really good. everything is ATX here except the food, which is awful. tacos are cubed meat covered in slaw, dry and with zero taste. Cups of barbecue sauce and ketchup help, but the cardboard-like taco makes even the souped up chunks hard to find, chew and swallow. Egg rolls are much better, however! the chicken fried steak is possibly the worst I've ever eaten. Nonetheless, bar staff, music and decor pull this place through to a 4-.

Yelp
Pros: outside atmosphere, location, convenience of having whatever you want / need super close Cons: it's expensive and it does get pretty loud on the weekends. I'm not sure if it was our room, but it was extremely hot at night both nights we stayed The hotel offers different packages which is a nice idea but I was a little disappointed in what we got out of it. We also walked into the hotel restaurant and bar the first night there and the staff didn't seem like they wanted to be attentive to us. I'm not sure if it was that we were the only Latina women in the bar at that time but it just wasn't good vibes Location would probably be the only reason why I would want to go back

Yelp
Such a hip hotel the gives major Texas vibes. Rooms are clean and well kept. I stayed here for a conference, however I tested positive for COVID on my second day here. But because of this, I had to self quarantine in my room for 3 days. And during my time, the staff here went above and beyond to insure I was comfortable. The night staff, Norma Moreno, actually drove to Walgreens at midnight to get me a covid test. She is amazing and it felt like I had my mom with me. Please give this woman a raise! The day staff was just as helpful! A gentleman by the name of Jacob and another young lady whose didn't get her name, made sure to bring me all my meals/Postmates. As well as water and whatever else I needed while self quarantined in the hotel room. While I didn't get to physically attend my conference, the room/hotel/staff really made my stay here a wonderful experience, all things considered lol.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite little hotels to stay when visiting Austin. It's affordable, great location, and the retro decorated rooms are always top notch clean and inviting. This visit was a bit strange in that every evening the fire pit was started up and the multiple decorative fire boxes were lit. It' was over 100 degrees this weekend and the last thing needed was fires going. Again, strange...pretty, but too hot!! Our rooms were perfect as always. The staff very cordial and polite. The facility needs more carts for the number of rooms. We only saw 1. Do give them a try. It really is a great place to stay. I'll for sure be back....in cooler weather!

Yelp
This hotel couldn't get any cuter! It's so unique and has a very Austin-vibe. They're successful at getting you to feel like you're getting away from the hustle and bustle of the world, but you're actually in the domain, which makes no sense. We really wanted a place to staycation during Covid and this was the perfect place. They have a pool, fire pits, live music on the patio on the weekend, and a bar. Not to mention it's within walking distance to surrounding restaurants and shops. Our hotel room was super retro with an awesome old school fridge and couch. There was a massive sliding barn door that separated the room from the bathroom. The room was very vibrant, filled with fun colors and liveliness. One of my favorite parts were the rocking chairs sitting outside of our second floor room. We often ate outside on our rocking chairs and enjoyed the scenery. I can't wait until I get to staycation here again.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to get away, to relax, and celebrate my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. When I came upon Lone Star Court in a random Google search, I was intrigued. I liked the courtyard set up, and the illusion of country charm located right in the city of Austin. Everything we needed was located at the resort. It was pet friendly, and it was close by local hiking trails that we wanted to visit. I love that this place brings you a hint of luxury, charm, convenience, and the added benefit of being able to bring your fur baby with you. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed time at the pool, and had both dinner and breakfast at the resort restaurant. You will have plenty of shopping and food within walking distance if you want to. I LOVE that there is live music and a bit of night life. It was a great mix of energy and a chilled country environment. All the other resort goers were friendly and ready for a relaxing weekend. It's located right across from the Domain. I highly recommend this resort, and will definitely go back.

Yelp
This boutique hotel is nestled in the gorgeous domain area. Full of lively restaurants, shops, bars, and parks. Walking into the courtyard, you are immediately transported to a nature filled rustic setting. Sooo beautiful. The rooms have a log cabin, retro feel that is adorable. The fridge is fully stocked with all the drinks you can think of from juice, topi Chico, to wine and liquor bottles. I was pleasantly surprised by how soft and comfortable the beds are. The walk in shower is large enough for myself and both of my toddlers. They had the very best time. Every room is supplied with outdoor rocking chairs to enjoy the scenic and peaceful view. I suggest grabbing some compliantly pasties and coffee in the morning and take in the view from you rocking chair. All of this was beyond amazing but my absolute favorite part of this hotel is the staff. I met Winne at the breakfast/bar area. She feels like coming home to your mom after a year of college. Her energy was so full of love it literally brought tears to my eyes. She is amazing and extremely kind and helpful. The way she dotted on my children and family, I'll never forget. We also had the joy of meeting the chef Jesse who was amazing! She took time out of her day to not only build up a beautifully roaring fire for my girls but she actually sat down and show them how to roast marshmallows. Talk about a class act! She is magical no doubt. We were visiting from Houston and will stay here on our next visit. Thank you everyone for such an amazing experience.

Yelp
In the last week I spent three hours dealing with U-Haul to rent a trailer, I spent 2 hours dealing with an issue at Chase, and I had to return to Best Buy three different times for a incomplete order. I'd basically decided that service was dead. Until, I came here! Everything was amazing. When I made the reservation I told them I'd be pulling a trailer and that I'd need a spot to park it. Cones where there ready to go when I arrived and they called me an hour before to tell me. My wife and I don't drink, they removed all the booze. We brought our dog Rain and they even had a goody bag for him. The courtyard is really nice, the pool is inviting, and the whole facility has an energy and vibe you can just feel. If you make a reservation and you are bringing kids, make sure to request a room with a smart tv if you want simple streaming. Out TV was not a smart TV but I was told other rooms have them. Austin is a short trip down the road for us. We will definitely be back. I'd give 7 stars if I could.

Yelp
The staff (Patrick) was great upon check in but that was the extent of anything that was nice about this place. We came her for a "staycation" away from home to relax for one night. When we got here we decided to go have a drink at the bar where the bartenders served local service workers (their friends) and non guest regulars before even acknowledging us and asked us to wait while they introduced each other as the local bartenders. On a Friday they were constantly having to go to the back and restock items. Seems like you would be prepared for a Friday and want to take care of actual paying guests but I digress. The refrigerator was full of standing water where our preordered chocolate strawberries were waiting in a pool of water. In the morning, we were woken up at 7:15 in the morning by a dump truck honking and making noise directly outside of our room for almost 30 minutes. When we called the front desk the person said "we'll send someone to go look at it". Look at it?! What does that even mean? If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay, Lone Star Court is NOT the place to do it. We will not be coming back.

Yelp
What an amazing Botique Hotel in Austin! Located across the street from the galleria. The area is new and clean. Staff was nice, area and hotel itself was great. We actually added an extra night it was comfortable. It rained a bunch so we were not able to do lots of outdoor activities they had. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The wife and I decided to have a staycation during the Valentine's Day weekend and she really loved this place. The rooms are retro themed. They come with period furniture and a vintage fridge. The room was clean and I loved the big shower, with some seriously hot water. I really like the deer horn lamp in the room, I might get one for the house. Breakfast was served at the bar, which was damn good biscuits and gravy along with some pastries and cereal. Really cool place, very nice staff, delicious drinks and food, 10/10.

Yelp
Ok, my peeps can I tell you about the awesome staycation I had over the weekend while staying at the LoneStar Court in the Domain?!!!! The LoneStar Court is such a cute hotel..the rooms are decorated so cute & are very roomy complete w/ a small lounge couch & a cool retro refrigerator that comes fully stocked w/ different varieties of beer, wine, liquor, drinks, and also a variety of snacks to munch on..FYI-you pay for what you consume but there is a price list for each item. The bed was very, very comfortable & the pillows just cradled your head & the a/c blew ice cold snowballs so I slept like a baby, which was totally needed!! :)) There's also a small swimming pool but it only goes to 3 ft but it has been plenty of lounge chairs for you to relax & work on your tan. I also love the fire pits that are outside..they come on at night and you can grab a drink & just relax! There's also live music setup near the swimming pool area and food trucks onsite. Oh & the best part about the LoneStar Court is the LOCATION!! It's right in the Domain so we just walked over to the Brass Tap & a few other sports bars nearby. It really was cool to have a staycation at the LoneStar Court & afterwards get to drive home, which was not even 10 minutes away!! -Rebecca out

Yelp
Great hotel if you enjoy breathing wood smoke instead of air. I feel bad writing this review, as the staff are nice, and the facility design is quite adorable. But for a business traveler such as myself, this is a poor choice of hotel -- I will not be staying here again. 1. Room had substantial maintenance issues upon move-in, ranging from a toilet paper holder that had been apparently ripped from the wall, to a bathroom door that squeaked so loudly that it jarred my teeth. (To their credit, they fixed the main issues after move-in, once I reported them.) 2. My room currently smells strongly like the interior of a BBQ restaurant from the intense wood smoke pollution resulting from their restaurant operations, which appears to be blowing directly into my hotel room block. If environmental & public health policy isn't your hobby, wood smoke pollution isn't just some cute smell -- it's comprised of particulate pollution (among many other pollutants) that are dangerous for people with asthma and other health conditions. Because of the poor insulation around the door frame (with a significant visible airgap at the bottom of the door threshold), even closing the hotel room door can't prevent the smoke from entering. Rather than offering to shut off the source of the smoke and actually fix the air quality, they offered me a Honeywell air filter -- seemingly missing its rear cover, and with a pre-filter that appears well past its prime -- that isn't really making much of a difference. Their staff member also had to come 3 times to finally deliver the right equipment. (Also, one of the many documented harmful health effects of particulate pollution is that it inhibits people's ability to sleep well -- and perhaps coincidentally -- this turned out to be one of my worst night's sleep I've ever at a hotel.) 3. Also, there are just elements of my room that made it impractical/poorly designed for business stays. For example, the bathroom mirror remained fogged 30 minutes after taking a shower (despite leaving the fan on). It's not easy to groom yourself when the mirror is unusable. Finally, especially as I have no reason to doubt the integrity or sincerity of the staff, after being told there were no other rooms available I could move to -- I was surprised to see that the Booking website curiously showed other rooms readily available that same night. If you enjoy a cute theme park experience with friendly staff and don't mind paying a premium for it, stay here. If you actually need a hotel that is designed and operated to support your ability to have a productive work trip at a Domain office, this is not it. 4. I was incorrectly charged for a minibar drink, despite having not consumed anything from the minibar. I was able to have it removed after calling and waiting roughly 10 minutes on hold.

Yelp
We have stayed here before and loved it but the place has gone down hill in quality. Lack of cleanliness There was some else's hair on the robes, the sheets had tiny bits of what I hope was beard hair that we discovered when we went to go to bed(pictured). There were tons of gnats in the bathroom. The mini bar food was dusty. Do yourself a favor and don't look at the orange lamp above the couch. The shower curtain had hair on it (on the inside). Noise Levels There were folks parting in the courtyard till after we left (around 2:30am) and the bar closed at 12am. Wasn't stocked It's clear our room wasn't stocked. we had 1 bathrobe, instead of 2, 4 plastic coffee cup lids and no cups, the fridge was in shambles (like someone but a bunch of stuff in the shelves and meant to restock but didn't). The alarm/radio was broken. Good things We did get charged an additional $21 for mini bar drinks we didn't drink. When I called the front desk, they took care of it right away and refunded us. Check in was fast, and check out at 2:30am was fast. When we saw how dirty the bed was, we gave up and left early to go stay somewhere else. This is the start of our honeymoon, so thanks for that.

Yelp
My wife booked a room for one night here for my birthday. We didn't realize it was the first weekend of South By Southwest and had a bit of trouble finding a room but Lone Star had one. The courtyard was great and they had live music playing. The room also looked great. Unfortunately the AC wasn't working. The gentleman at the front desk (sorry, don't recall his name) found us another room a couple of doors down and we moved our stuff over. He then, unsolicited, offered to discount 50% of our stay which was very kind. When we went to check out, the general manager William Barba was there and when he noticed what happened, he gave us the entire room for free, again completely unsolicited. So top notch location and even better customer service. We'll be staying there again for sure.

Yelp
I really really really like this place. We've stayed twice in the course of a 90 day period. The ambiance of the property is inviting and has an organic feel to it. The check-in experience is something I've come to look forward to. Although I'm not a beer drinker, I appreciate receiving a cold beer upon check-in. When we booked our second reservation the hotel manager, Anna, sent me a personalized email welcoming me back. She even went as far as asking me if I had a preference of room choice. I love the rocking chairs which are placed outside of the rooms. It allows for a good ole front porch country experience. I took my work computer with me and sat outdoors on the porch for hours while doing some work. The hotel has wonderful policies and procedures in place to keep social distancing safe for all occupants. I believe there's a limit of the amount of people allowed to go to the pool and everyone respected the policy. The location is prime and you can easily access many restaurants and shopping areas. We took the bikes provided on campus and rode through the neighborhood. It's a beautiful and clean area. Very safe and the people are friendly. Great place and I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
We have stayed at Lone Star twice now and would highly recommend! This spot is an oasis in the middle of The Domain and feels peaceful and quiet by comparison. We love the common area with live music and fire pits, the armchairs outside the rooms, and comfy spacious rooms. Good vibes all around!
