Uncover Secret Sea-to-Plate Dining on Canada's Wild Island

"A coastal vantage point in Twillingate ideal for spotting icebergs as they drift through Iceberg Alley; visitors can climb or walk up to the lighthouse area for panoramic views of nearby glacial ice and the surrounding seascape." - Lauren Breedlove

An unforgettable experience! We woke up early to catch the sunrise—despite the wind, it was absolutely worth it. Watching the sun rise over the ocean, slowly climbing above the horizon, was breathtaking. We returned in the afternoon for a hike, and walking along the cliffs offered a completely different but equally stunning perspective. Highly recommend for nature lovers and anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic adventure.

If in Twillingate, stop in. From the observation tower in the parking lot, we saw humpback whales 🐋! A good pair of binoculars is your friend, even though we could see with the naked eye. Very cool! Lots of signage indicating cliffs, etc. If you’ve have small children, keep them close. Didn’t pay to go inside the museum art gallery, and the sign said toilets are only for paying customers. Summary: great views! Would go back.

A beautiful lighthouse with some pretty incredible trails. I hiked here two days and found the trails to be exhilarating with incredible views literally taking you cliff side. I didn’t tour the interior of the lighthouse but I sure enjoyed photographing it as I was hiking with my little fearsome dog.

Plenty of parking and a nice ocean view. We saw two large icebergs from here. A lovely snowshoe hare was hopping around. There are hiking trails nearby, as well as a gift shop with ice cream.

Visiting this lighthouse was easily one of the most memorable parts of our trip. For just $10, you get access to breathtaking views of the coastline and nearby Crow Head, along with a chance to explore a beautifully assembled museum inside the lighthouse living quarters. The real standout, though, is Thelma—an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate curator who almost single-handedly created the museum just a few years ago with limited resources. Her dedication shows in every detail of the exhibit, which offers a rich and respectful look into the lives of the lighthouse keepers and the critical role they played in Newfoundland’s maritime history. The story behind the lighthouse’s construction is both unique and inspiring, and well worth hearing. The lighthouse sits high on a cliff, but the climb is manageable—even for those wary of heights—and the payoff on a clear day is truly something special.

Friendly welcoming, the place is well kept and lost of history. There is beautiful lookouts and hikes all around. We spent the whole afternoon and we enjoyed every moment.

Incredible site, did the lighthouse guided tour for a small fee. Goes all the way to the top! Trails, exhibits are superb as well. Icebergs in May-June for better chances of sighting !

Twilingate is a community located at north central part of Newfoundland island, known as the Iceberg Capital of the World, is a prime location along Iceberg Alley, a corridor where icebergs from Greenland drift south. Long Point Lighthouse stands at its tip overlooking the iceberg corridor. We saw one iceberg, far far away, rather small. But it is an iceberg. Bus loads of visitors came here seeing icebergs.
