The 6 Best BBQ Spots In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This Gray’s Ferry casual order-at-the-door operation has people lining up, whether it's a sweltering summer day or a mini monsoon. All their meats are smoked in-house, including their tender brisket that’s hand-trimmed and cooked low-and-slow, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pulled pork that's cooked for 12 hours. You can order any meat by the pound, put it on a kaiser roll or wrap for a sandwich, or get a combination platter that includes a juicy cut or two with a side of slaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Add an order of apple bread pudding and you’ll have the ideal hearty meal for a casual game night with friends or for a work-from-home lunch that will give you meat sweats through your next Zoom meeting." - candis mclean

The food isn't even hot, if they were going to serve yesterday's food, they could've at least heated it up coming straight from the restaurant. Now I'm at work with food I can't eat. This mac & cheese is horrible. I would never expect potato salad like this from a place that says Texas barbecue. The brisket Is lacking flavor the Cornbread is good. Edit: I heated the brisket up and got a good taste, it is so dry. I see why they didn't want to heat it up. Also, this potato salad is absolute trash. I'm really disappointed. The prices don't match the quality for $26 I should've had food that was cooked today. I see they replied I stand by what I said. I've been cooking for over 30 years. Nothing about this food was prepared today.

Google
Long Shot BBQ serves the juiciest, most flavorful brisket I’ve ever had! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere feels like home. Highly recommend this spot!

Google
Dry everything! Meat lacked flavor cornbread was hard as tack! Never again! This was the full platter for two meats and french fries for $27 and change. This was not worth it! Some of these reviews are fake or I coincidentally ordered nasty food on a very very bad day! My brisket was like jerky and greyish 🙄just annoyed

Google
Long Shot BBQ is a meat lover’s paradise! The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender and full of smoky flavor. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
The best barbecue I’ve had in a long time. Long Shot BBQ nailed it with perfect smoke, seasoning, and service. Worth every bite!

Google
Perfect BBQ spot! The smoky aroma pulls you in, and the taste seals the deal. Brisket was juicy and tender, sides were fresh and tasty. Loved every bite!

Laurie Fischer

Google
Absolutely amazing BBQ! Ribs were juicy, pulled pork was loaded with flavor, and the sides were spot-on. Highly recommend Long Shot BBQ!

Google
I gave this place 2 tries before writing a review. So for $23 this is the deluxe brisket platter. I feel like for Philly you can find better places for your buck as Philly has some of the best food spots! The sugar cookie looks dry and over cooked but it’s actually moist and delicious! The corn bread both times has been try af. Let down down a bbq spot. The Mac and collard greens are good but again for $23 they skimpy af for a Philly spot. A spoon full ain’t doin it over here ya heard!! The meat isn’t cooked in the bbq sauce either I’m assuming that’s cause they give u options for mild, spicy, and keto. Skip the apple bread whatever it’s called it’s not worth the extra coins. Fry and bland. Same with Chco taco, I ate ur before I could get a pic it was just okay..Overall it’s a solid 3 outta 5. Brisket is moist and decent.

Yelp
They know how to do BBQ Brisket! I got their Brisket Fries yesterday (BOGO on Uber Eats!) and I had to order them again today! You get so much meat for only $7 ($8.50 on Uber Eats), and their fries are nice and have flavor! (I've had places where their fries actually taste like cardboard, there's a big difference) The brisket on it- it's so good. Like, seriously, so good. The spices on the edge of the meat is so flavorful and slightly peppery and just so great. And the meat isn't dry, it's juicy and fatty and so just... *amazing*. And their BBQ sauce- I got mild, and it's so delicious! Slightly Sweet, Smokey, Savory, just a *hint* of peppery... Oh! And, you can just *Tell* it's homemade. It's thick, not runny, and you can see the spices in it. I'd bet my left foot they make it from scratch. Definitely ordering from here again, I don't even care that the prices are a little higher on Uber eats than the menus they give with the order. It's worth the difference.

Yelp
Don't go in and order a sandwich I waited half an hour to be served. Then the $10.50 sandwich is served on a tiny roll with hardly any meat. Workers were nice enough but just terrible place to go get lunch

Wilma D.

Yelp
Craving some low and slow, smoked for hours, Barbecue? Well, do NOT get food from this restaurant! I ordered a half-rack, chicken thighs, and pulled pork. There was NO smoky flavor. The ribs tasted and had the texture of ribs baked in the oven and then slathered with a sweet BBQ sauce. The food was woefully under seasoned. I mean pepper and salt are not enemies of food. The thighs had very little if any seasoning and also did not have the low and slow, smoked flavor. The best thing in our order was the Collard Greens. I never, ever, have done any restaurant review of any sort, but I felt I had the duty to speak out on this place for two reasons: 1. In the hopes they might improve their food and, 2. To spare others from the sort of meal I purchased.

Yelp
Worst food I've had in a long time and worst bbq I ever had. I wanted to like this but nope. The ribs were so dried out and thin they were inedible. The ribs definitely weren't fresh they were at the very least a few days old and they probably just keep reheating and serving to people. It's no excuse make less, sell out instead of selling people crap. The pictures will tell you everything you need to know. The Mac & cheese was a salty mess. Definitely stove top and honestly tasted like box stove top VS homemade. I prefer baked Mac & cheese but I've had some phenomenal homemade stove top ones. Sweet chick has excellent stove top Mac. I threw it away. The cornbread was dry and flavorless. I ordered for lunch and it was a waste of $25. Maybe this was an off experience but quality and consistency is how you stay in business especially a food business. The only way I would eat again is if someone else was paying otherwise I've had better bbq and better food in general for cheaper.

Yelp
We didn't get to eat here due to the complicated and convoluted online and phone ordering process. We tried ordering online several times without success. When we called, we were told we couldn't place a delivery order over the phone. We decided to place an order for pickup instead. We were placed on hold multiple times, and the ordering process took over 10 minutes (we have a screenshot of the phone call). After finally placing the order, the young lady on the other end informed us that her supervisor might not allow it because they were closing soon. We assured them we were just 3 minutes away and it was still 20 minutes until closing. I understand not wanting to place an order too close to closing time, but in the young lady's multiple attempts to answer our questions and placing us on hold, it would have been helpful to inform us upfront if they weren't taking any more orders. Four hungry kids, no food, and wasted time ordering... not ideal. I suggest they train their front staff better and inform customers at the beginning of the order if they won't be taking any more orders for the day. Just my two cents.

Yelp
If you're looking for good takeout bbq, look no further! This place exceeded my expectations. Their web site boasted "tender slices of brisket" and sometimes food places that say that don't deliver. This place truly does. My brisket platter was delicious and I would definitely order this again. I believe my sweet potato casserole had an upcharge of $1 for it, but it was worth it. The cornbread was good. It's the meat that is the highlight of this meal. See for yourself in my picture how well it's prepared. What a smoke ring!

Yelp
Was craving some good BBQ and happened upon this spot. We ordered delivery and fordt of all - that was the fastest delivery ever. Legit came in 15 mins! The food was delicious. I got a full rack of ribs with mild sauce, Mac and cheese, cornbread, and potato salad. The ribs were cooked perfectly. They were falling off the bone. It was all sooo good! Definitely try it out.

Yelp
The food was surprisingly delicious! I had never ordered from any of these BBQ restaurants due to fear of disappointment, but this one had the most stars in my area. The brisket was tender and not too much fat like others experienced, sausage was good, the MAC WAS PHENOMENAL! You can't trust everyone's Mac but y'all have a great recipe... cornbread is good taste fresh and it was soft. The only thing I did not like was the potato salad which I expected but my dog loved it so no money went to waste

Yelp
Went to this place today. I got a quarter pound of brisket and 3/4 pound of smoked chicken thighs. I got two thighs. The brisket was so juicy, smoky, tender, and it matched well with the sauce (I didn't put too much to not overpower the great flavor). It was fatty as well which I personally love. The smoked thighs were so good as well. Super tender, flavorful, and seasoned well. Did not need sauce for them. Total price was like 27 bucks which is a little high but the quality made it well worth it.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful customer service!! Shout out to Amanda for going over and beyond!!

Yelp
They have amazing brisket and ribs, being both flavorful and tender. The pulled pork was dry but it still maintained a roll of flavor and was super yummy with their house bbq sauce. The chicken was just ok and tasted nothing special (tasted baked not smoked so i'm not sure if my order was take wrong). Their sides mac'n cheese was good and their german potato salad was the perfect pairing for a meat centered meal

Yelp
Underwhelming. Dry cornbread. Very fatty meat. Forgot the coleslaw I ordered. No napkins. Just forks. Very small containers of BBQ sauce for our fat. Normally I like to give a place a second chance. In this case I don't see a reason to. Nothing struck me as an A for effort type of scenario. Edit: reading the other reviews I was like....did we even go to the same place??

Sallie F.

Yelp
I am so disappointed - I was looking forward to tasty tender ribs and brisket; instead I got dry ribs and brisket - the ribs were so dry there were sections that were actually hardened. I did like the barbeque sauce.

Yelp
I really wanted to give a better review because at first glance everything looked great and I love the concept of what they're doing there. My fiancé and I went Friday as an anniversary lunch and spent over $80. Unfortunately the $30 ribs were so tough we had to throw the whole rack out because they were inedible. The rub on the brisket was so good, unfortunately the only pieces we got were all fat so that was inedible as well. Pulled pork was tasty. The sides were okay. We also ordered bread pudding and a bacon apple fritter that we never received. After spending that much money and majority of the meal being a miss, I don't think we'll be back. I'll gladly buy a gallon of the bbq sauce though.

Robert H.

Yelp
The meat is nothing like the picture on their site nore how they explain it. This meat has no flavor it has not been slow smoked or it would have a nice smoke flavor. The fries are not crispy brown they are soft and white. They did not give me my cookie I paid for. The chicken is dry and again no smoke flavor. the skin on the chicken should be crisp it is just tough. There needs to be a selection for negative stars for my selection. Will not be back they need to revamp how they prepare their food.

Yelp
Bought some ribs, brisket and sausage for my Uncle and he said it was delicious. Prices are reasonable as well. The knock I have is that I stated in the order to slice the full rack of ribs but when we opened it up they were not sliced at all. It's ok if we were eating it at the comforts of home but we were not!! Will still come back but please READ the instructions from customers!

Lachia L.

Yelp
First and last time ordering. A waste of $$. Brisket had no flavor to it at all. The pulled pork was edible with your own additions. Not the best place to get bbq.
google avatar

Te W.

Yelp
Extremely tender and perfectly seasoned. Customer service was superb. Not salty or overwhelming Smokey. The bbq sauce is original and tasty.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
This was very disappointing. I ordered the brisket platter. The meat was greasy and fatty. The side of potato salad was literally marked with a date and was six days old. Cornbread was very dry.

Yelp
Recently opened small business in an area of South Philly that is a bit of a food dessert. Ordered delivery and it came fast and accurately. Tried the chicken sandwich and chicken and brisket platter. Both meats were very good. Didn't love the beans but the chips, cornbread and slaw were tasty. Would order again and is a good addition to the neighborhood.

Girlie R.

Yelp
We really wanted Famous Dave's, not realizing they were permanently closed. So we tried this place. Mistake. The food was good enough, but it was a small order, and somehow they managed to mess it up. We were supposed to get a sugar cookie with each of our platters, and we got zero. One of the platters was supposed to have coleslaw - no coleslaw. For $25 a platter, I want everything I paid for. That's OK, we learned our lesson. They'll never get another dime from us. Uber eats gave us a $2 credit for Long Shot's screwup.

Yelp
Simply put, the brisket platter at Long Shot BBQ, which includes a side of your choice (macaroni and cheese, please) and one slice of delish cornbread, is divine. One of these days I'll try something else, but for now their brisket shall reign in my universe.

Amelia S.

Yelp
PS: Got a pulled pork sandwich and a side of potato salad the other day (August 2022); it was fantastic.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Small business that opened up in an area with few options for food. Some of the best bbq I've had, and the staff is super friendly. I especially recommend the ribs and brisket, but it's all very good. Exciting to have such a great option in a neighborhood with little else.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow best bbq in long while!! Melt in your mouth brisket with crunchy peppery edge. Its so juicy & tender you can even bypass the bbq if you just love pure juicy tender meat! Awesome mac & cheese not like watery mess we see lot in philly more the solid south type & the sweet potato crunch cup oh wow sooo good .. unfortunately it was a drop by on visit to paws so i just got 1 platter but ill sure as heck be back to scope out more on the menu!!! Wings chicken ribs!!! Oh & best cornbread in philly right now

Nicole J.

Yelp
I love Long Shot BBQ tender and well seasoned . Customer service is superb. Thank you Chris!! (*_*)

Philly H.

Yelp
Great food, friendly and attentive staff. I had the 2 meat platter (brisket and pulled pork) with fries. It was delicious! Make sure you get the cornbread! It's a must have!

Yelp
I found my favorite bbq place in Philly...these guys are no joke! Their pork sandwich and sweet potato casserole were outrageously good and I am looking forward to trying more items on the menu. The sandwich roll was superb, meat was not fatty at all like most bbq places, slaw wasn't wet, and the sauce was killer. Great price, great bbq, great customer service....these guys are the real deal!

Michael M.

Yelp
This new spot is amazing. Easily going to overthrow any bbq name in the city if not the tristate area. Had the brisket , and it was what wet dreams are made of. Very well seasoned, melts in your mouth not in your hand, I'll try other things as soon as I get bored of the brisket. So, maybe an update a few years from now. Maybe.

Genevieve S.

Yelp
Such delicious BBQ! We called ahead and ordered with the nicest guy who was super accommodating! We ordered ribs, brisket, and a few sides (The Mac and Cheese is Fire also the cornbread is actually so moist and sweet)! Ribs were tender and ate cleanly from the bone, a little chew but just the right amount. The brisket was super moist and the bark was well seasoned. We only tried the mild bbq sauce but it was fantastic. They have a spicy one though. Would recommend it's in an odd location but once you find it you'll be glad!

tilla e.

Yelp
Really good smoked ribs and corn bread. Also wanted to try wings but they were out. They went out of their way to offer a substitute. Super friendly and great service. Will order again.

Jesse B.

Yelp
I had a great delivery quicker than it was supposed to it was delicious , great addition to neighborhood

Dima O.

Yelp
Let me tell you, Long Shot BBQ was incredible. It's the little things that make Long Shot BBQ so awesome. They certainly have a wonderful menu too. And also, the service was very good and the staff was very courteous. Long Shot BBQ - I'll be back, i hope sooner than later.
