6 Standout Smoked Fish Dips on Florida's Forgotten Coast

"Housed in a renovated little blue house on Cape San Blas with a mural paying homage to a beloved formerly lost beachfront spot, the restaurant preserves the relaxed beach-vibe menu locals loved. The smoked fish dip is served with tortilla chips and slices of pickled jalapeños, offering a familiar, comforting take for visitors nostalgic for the pre-storm favorite." - Carrie Honaker

We stopped in at LongBill’s on the Cape for lunch and overall had a good experience. The atmosphere feels like a casual beach-themed bar—laid-back and perfect for a coastal spot. The menu is a bit limited when it comes to fresh fish (only flounder and cod were available the day we visited), but what we had was tasty. I ordered the fried flounder and shrimp combo basket. It wasn’t overly greasy, and everything was seasoned nicely. My wife had the flounder sandwich, which she liked overall, though the bun was a little on the dry side. They also offer a pizza menu, and the pizzas looked huge—several tables around us ordered them and seemed to really enjoy them. Seating is limited inside and they have a small covered screened in porch area for extra seats. If you’re looking for a casual place with solid seafood and a relaxed vibe, LongBill’s is worth checking out if you're staying on the Cape.

A great place for lunch. We sat in the screened porch. Nice and sunny with fresh air. I ordered the house salad with shrimp and amazing 1000 island dressing. Almost finished my whole meal before I remembered I wanted to take a photo. That’s how good it was! Nice selection of beers from area breweries too

Google
Being one of the few restaurants open in the evenings in the island, I had high hopes. Unfortunately they were not met. Seating is very limited and we waited over an hour despite being told 40 min wait. We were sat out on the covered screen porch but it started raining and a few in our party were getting wet but there was no offer for other seating (staff should have enough experience to know their restaurant and the potential risk of elements). They were low on the availability of seafood (was only 5 pm). Food was fair and we would never go back or recommend them. If you do go, nachos and fish tacos were good. Chicken sandwich was not.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE with 32inch wide wheelchair. ♿️ The food is great. Best fried pickles I’ve ever had. The fried items are cooked crispy in fresh tasting oil. The fish and shrimp were fresh. The blackened seasoning is delicious and not overpowering. All the staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s a small restaurant and the food and service are both exceptional. This is my favorite restaurant when visiting cape San blais.

Google
I hate to bash a restaurant, but we’ve eaten here on previous visits and I want to let people know how it’s changed. I’m posting the Brunch menu that we were given. It’s very limited and prices for the same items are skewed. You’ll have to add grits or potatoes to any order as a side item. Brunch hours haven’t changed. Still 10-2 Saturday and Sunday only. Arrived at 10:30. No customers. 2 more came in before we left. One waitress and one cook, so they must be used to a smaller crowd now. Bacon and eggs were good, but the pancakes were so-so. Take a good look at the menu so that you don’t pay more for less items. We were accustomed to them having omelets, biscuits w/gravy, and French toast. It wasn’t on the menu this time.

Google
Great Sunday brunch with a fun, laid back atmosphere. Service was amazing and generous portions. My only complaint? Add some of that thick cut bacon to the cheese grits! Definitely will become a regular spot for us when we visit the Cape.

Google
Our first time here. Waitress was the only worker on the floor and she did an outstanding job 👏. It was her 2nd day at the job. We had the nachos, which were good, and there were plenty to share. The Cape burger was very tasty along with the coleslaw which was so good.

Google
This is a very difficult review for me. The staff was awesome and the place was spotless but $35 for a mediocre pizza. You can get a better pizza. One block down the road at hunt brothers. Cannot recommend. Edit: I threw the take home away.

Yelp
first off, our waitress, bartender, bar back, hostess, etc., Amber was absolutely incredible. She covered the entire restaurant with all the customers with such grace under pressure! the food was the best meal we've had in our second vacation to the area. We had the steak nachos as an appetizer and they're the best i've ever had! the place is small with limited seating but it's normal for the area. we loved the coziness and atmosphere! definitely a must go to when youre in the Port St Joe, Cape San Blas area #30A #30E

Yelp
Great place on San Blas to grab a bite or beer! We stopped in this time after riding bikes. We needed a cold beer and a snack. The fried pickles were great! Service was wonderful. Lots of parking and easy to find. Great place to eat!

Tony L.

Yelp
We have visited LongBill's on multiple occasions as we are local. We have always enjoyed the convenience and hospitality. However, this experience was not to the standard we have been accustomed to. Our waitress was amazing but, the manager on duty tonight (Keith) completely ruined the evening with his demeanor. It seemed that we were an inconvenience to him. There are better mangers with an appropriate attitude for food service.

Yelp
We went on an evening in July and it was so busy they said they wouldn't be able to seat us but they let us do a take out order. We were starving and so grateful! All of the food we got was good... but it's busy so you have to come early! I cannot speak to the ambience as they didn't have seating available but the inside space is limited.

Yelp
This has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area but.... The last two times we have been we were disappointed. For starters they changed their cole slaw recipe. The only cole slaw my spouse will eat. Today our friend was looking forward to a Wonky Donkey and now on Sundays until 2 you can only get breakfast items which were not very good. Our waitress did a good job being the only one. We do always enjoy the small size of this restaurant.

Yelp
We stopped in on a rainy day to watch football and for an appetizer and a couple beers. The beer selection was good including local draft. It is beer and wine only. We had the fish dip it was okay bland and dry. Got better after we added some things to it. It was very clean inside and the staff was great to talk too. We would return if in the area.

Yelp
We ordered food to go two times the week we were there. After eating seafood for several days it was nice to get a burger. It was awesome! The service was quick and friendly. I highly recommend LongBill's.
google avatar

Jeffie N.

Yelp
Ordered a meats pizza and a cheese pizza for takeout. Both tasted good. However there was no sauce on either. I was disappointed after seeing the brag on the menu photo about their sauce. Tasted good but dry. The lady who gave us the pizza was super nice. Not sure if it was just them taking me literally and thinking that was all I wanted on the dough??? Nice tasting crust. Oh and the place did look nice and clean. This was a takeout order.
google avatar

Randall S.

Yelp
The Forgotten Coast Pasta was amazing! We highly recommend it! We also enjoyed the bleu cheese salad dressing on the tossed salad.
google avatar

Samantha H.

Yelp
The fish tacos were very light on the fish. I was shocked for the price how little meat there was. The slaw on the tacos tasted good but was overpowering due to it making up the main substance of the taco. The cheese curds were good, but I'd skip the fried pickles.
google avatar

Staci K.

Yelp
Good food. Great service. Chill vibe. Highly recommended. Also Bailey was a great representative of the establishment. We also had the spicy cheese curds and my guys devoured them. They are not spicy, but there are fried jalapeños included!! Nice touch! French fried goodness.

Clare T.

Yelp
Great place!! We got take out here for a night in at the beach. The fish tacos and steamed shrimp were so good that we went back the next day to eat it again! Highly recommend.

Mloy01 ..

Yelp
Had the Kitchen Sink Pizza. It was delicious. The people are super friendly. It's just a simple friendly and clean place. Don't forget the cookie for dessert!
google avatar

Yelp
Great lunch on the Cape. Small restaurant on the north Cape with inside, screened in outside, and bar seating. Sat at the bar and had outstanding service from Bailey. Florida beers on tap at a reasonable price. There are 3 sizes- pint, big daddy, and a pitcher. The big daddy was huge and a good value for a craft beer. We both had poor boys-hubby's bay scallops and Mine shrimp. The seafood was fresh and very lightly battered. Delicious. I got a side salad instead of fries. The salad was fresh and the homemade blue cheese dressing had large chunks of blue cheese. The remoulade dressing for the poor boywas well balanced. I sate a few of my hubbies fries-thick steak cut, seasoned well and hot. We finished up with a delicious slice of key lime pie. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We got takeout as we just got on the cape after a long drive from PA. We ordered the Duece Natchos which were amazing. They did a fantastic job separating everything so they did not get soggy. The place is very cute inside with plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sport. We also ordered the Veggie pizza, their sauce really is amazing, I would have cooked the pie for another 5, but overall it was a really good tasting pizza. The woman who helped at the restaurant was amazing and really cared.
google avatar

Monica E.

Yelp
Small place, expect a little wait for a table. Good food, nice staff. Will definitely return. Oh yeah, try their fried pickles! So good!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, always visit when we come for our annual stay in Port St Joe. Best fried oysters I've eaten, must have them with the remoulade sauce. The slaw is fantastic! A must visit.
google avatar

Joyanna J.

Yelp
Food is good; sea food, pizza, pasta, chili, hotdogs. The salads are rather ordinary. The burgers are made with frozen patties heated on the grill. If they used fresh, homemade patties they would be awesome! They also are open for breakfast on weekends (but don't go there looking for Belgian waffles or Eggs Benedict) Service great - waitstaff are very friendly - they made us feel right at home!

Katie S.

Yelp
Great meal at LongBill's. Great service. Cheesesteak has a queso option that is to die for!

Lyn P.

Yelp
Our family went in on a rainy day for lunch. My son had the fried shrimp basket and it had about 6 shrimp, not nearly enough for the price. The shrimp tacos had really good ingredients, but again, only two small shrimp per taco. For the price, the seafood is skimpy and not worth the cost. There are many other places worth the money on the cape.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
Wait is a little long in the busy season, but worth the wait. Pickles are awesome, and the pizza was great. Staff was so friendly!

Tim R.

Yelp
First time I've been served a seafood "platter" on a salad plate. Served one cup of raw shredded cabbage described as tropical jalapeño slaw with pineapple and mango. CABBAGE ONLY! I was charged $125 for three meals and we left hungry and sweaty. At least run the a/c. worst dining experience in 30 years visiting Florid. Tourist trap rip off, poorest value in Florida. Don't waste your time and money!
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
Tried to go for dinner on our first night in Cape San Blas and were told they were no longer seating tables. This was at 7:22 and they said they closed at 8. Just FYI.

Tina S.

Yelp
Y'all!!! Run, don't walk and get your tails to LongBill's! Bring your appetite because you are going to want to try it all! The drunken shrimp are banging and with enough extra juice to dunk your fries (or fingers) in. Do it! Trust me just do it! The chicken Philly is sooo good and the smashed burger is the bomb dot com! Add the bacon to E V E R Y T H I N G ~ you will thank me! Make sure to say hi to Heaven and Lemon while you're there.

Laura Ann F.

Yelp
We lover the fried jalapeños with the spicy cheese curds and scallops. We only came in because they were the only place open however we ended up really liking it and will be back! Alexis was a great bar tender!

Bill R.

Yelp
Service was good but food mediocre. We had the fish dip, a Philly cheese steak, grilled grouper sandwich, burger, cheeseburger, baked cookie with icecream and a Cheesecake. Total with tip $125. Cheeseburger was the best but I think the flavor came from the pepper jack cheese. The Philly and grouper sandwiches were bland.

Yelp
As good as you're gonna get on the cape. Have eaten here twice now both takeout orders. Even though both times they were SLAMMED BUSY, service was extremely fast and didn't have to wait too long at all. Very cute and clean inside, big ass TVs and nice bar area. Pizza 3/5. Steamed shrimp are my fave -- ordered them both times. 5/5. Forgotten coast pasta good and absolutely LOADED with seafood, lots of scallops, huge shrimp and andouille sausage. 4.5/5. Could've maybe used something fresh on top.. green onion/parsley Ribeye is good better than expected although sad they forgot my second side but that's ok!! Was delicious. Slaw was great and fresh, ribeye cooked slightly under medium rare but still excellent. Much prefer my steak under than overcooked. 4/5 Fried chicken sandwich good, great bun, fries were yummy. Sandwich could've used some kind of sauce on it but still delicious can tell was fried in very fresh oil.. I added Mayo on it at home. And I'm certain you could ask for sauce at the restaurant itself. 4/5.

Yelp
So good!! We highly recommend. There was a bit of a wait time though due to the size of the restaurant. We sat at the bar, which was first come first serve, so our wait time was cut down. It ran about a 30-45 minute wait time for actual tables. The food was fantastic!! I had the house fish sandwich and my husband had the fish tacos! We were so impressed with the portions. We will definitely be back!

Julie K.

Yelp
The service is abhorrent. Any establishment whose "hostess" calls you an a**hole is not one I would ever recommend. Avoid at all costs. I would state that this is a zero star review - Yelp unfortunately restricts going below 1. Nancy Myers is an embarrassment to this restaurant and should not be client facing.
google avatar

Sandra P.

Yelp
We came here due to the reviews, but left somewhat disappointed. The food to us (party of six) was just ok. I will say that the pizza looked amazing and I would come back to try that. Service was good. The place is not very big, but conveniently located if you're staying on the peninsula.
google avatar

Bill C.

Yelp
Since there is not much to choose from on the CSB to eat at we had to try it. Nice little place with cold AC. A range of options and pleasant atmosphere and service.
google avatar

Loren H.

Yelp
This is the second to the last place before you get to the end of the Cape and hit the state park. The last restaurant is Coneheads. I keep getting the two mixed up. LongBills makes hand tossed pizza that are very good. Be careful if you build your own because the "premium " ingredients are around five bucks each for a large pie and I didn't realize that and got four of them! This made my twenty dollars pizza Forty Dollars! Our waitress should have warned me but it was my fault. They also have great fish and other things and the waitstaff was top notched. Beer and wine only, which was a bummer but oh well, one copes without a Margarita. Be sure and stop when in the area. It doesn't look like much from the highway but is is nice inside with a screened in patio area.

Paula M.

Yelp
So mediocre. I tried to order 2 different draft beers and they were out of both of them so I ordered a water. When she finally did serve me, the glass of ice water smelled like the worst kind of rotten egg Florida tap water and that pretty much sums up our entire experience. The majority of the food is straight off a Sysco truck and extremely overpriced $100 for so-so lunch and no alcohol. They charge .99 for tartar sauce that should come with your meal. The fish is fine. They're short staffed. The service was so bad and irritating I couldn't even eat the food once it did finally arrive. I feel grumpy every time I see the box so my $30 not-as-good-as-frozen pizza is going to wind up in the trash.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Great, and badly needed addition to the Cape San Blas dining scene. Ok, let's be honest... the Cape doesn't have a dining scene, so LongBills pretty much sets the bar. Spotlessly clean. Servers did a stellar job. Beer & wine are the only alcoholic drink options. Good tap beer selection. Limited wine selection. The pizza looked awesome, but went with the blackened fish tacos, with a tropical slaw, with a side of fries and pineapple jalapeño coleslaw. The tacos and slaw were great. The fries just so-so. My date had the blackened chicken Caesar salad, which was very good. Plenty of TVs to occupy your time while waiting or dining. Small space, so I'm expecting long waits during peak season, but that won't stop me from coming back to try a pizza or seafood platter, sometime soon!
google avatar

Yelp
We got to Longbill's for a late lunch on our way back from visiting the state park. It was our first time on the Cape and thought we would take a chance. The small dining area and bar were full so we had to sit on the patio. It was a little warm out there but worth it. This was the best meal we have had since we got to the area. This party of 6 ordered 2 shrimp baskets, 1 shrimp po boy, 1 oyster po boy, fried pickles and an order of grilled fish tacos. The food was brought out well prepared. Everyone enjoyed their food! The service was great!

Gary F.

Yelp
The fish tacos were amazing. We also had the fried pickles, probably the best I have ever had!!! Please ask for Heaven, she was awesome working the bar and serving our food!!!

Camille C.

Yelp
I really struggle with these restaurants at The Cape that have pretty good food but terrible service. There were a couple of individuals at LongBills who were just rude. Having worked in a seasonally slammed seafood restaurant, I know there are long, hot days but if this is what you've chosen to do...suck it up and smile. We ate in during one visit and tried to get take out the second time. During the second visit, I stood in line for 10 minutes while nobody acknowledged any of us. Finally, when someone acknowledged our presence, we were told they weren't accepting anymore to go orders. Quite a disappointment. Was the food good? Yes. It was fine. Would I go back? I would love to go back if they turned over some of the grumpy staff. It's really a detractor.

Yelp
Run don't walk to this new FABULOUS restaurant on CSB. Our group of 13 was seated in short order. We were brought waters without asking. So nice. Though the place was filled our meal came out PERFECT and delicious. We ordered burgers which were so flavorful and substantial! The bun are buttered and super scrumptious. We also ordered a cheese pizza that was huge and cooked perfectly. The signature pasta dish received rave reviews. No glass was empty for long. 5 stars!!!
google avatar

Anita M.

Yelp
Oh, wow! Took a long time for this place to open, but it was definitely worth the wait. We had lunch on the patio and excellent service from Stuart. It was a downtime, 3 PM, and I was amazed at how quickly the food came. As you can see from my photos, it was perfection. I don't think I've ever had steak fries that good, and my fish had nice light seasoning. I am so glad they have grilled fish and vegetable options to help counterbalance all the great fried food.

Maximilian B.

Yelp
All of the food was absolutely amazing I loved the look of the resteraunt and the service was really fast
google avatar

Ana G.

Yelp
Cute establishment, friendly service, great beer and food! Also, really clean, the kitchen is opened to the restaurant, so you can see them cooking your food. But thankfully it doesn't make it too loud. We had the fried cheese curds with a must-taste, house made remoulade - very yum. All meat, cauliflower crust pizza was the main course. It was great! Got key lime pie to go. Very tart, like key lime pie is supposed to be. Beer selection was also great, with plenty of local brews. Wait staff, Stewart, was helpful and introduced me to a dirty hooter - you'll have to order one up yourself!

Joseph And Toni R.

Yelp
Rudest service ever! Ordered $50 worth of pizza and asked for an extra tiny cup of ranch and marinara and the response was "you didn't pay for that." Spoke to the manager and he didn't seem to care. Shame on them! Don't waste your money or time at this dump!
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
This was an establishment that was affected by hurricane Michael in 2018. It had been newly renovated. It's a hopping place, so be prepared to wait, especially if you have a big group. They don't have much space does seating. The grilled shrimp was a bit salty, the steak fries were perfectly cooked! The fried pickles were good, but also a tad salty. Our waiter was very good and friendly.
google avatar

Roy W.

Yelp
Ordered a pizza for pickup, it was hot and ready when I arrived! The staff was very friendly. Fixed me up with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes for later! Pizza was delicious, really liked the firm crust and the cheese!
google avatar

Keisha K.

Yelp
Stayed a week on Cape San Blas & got take out 2 times and ate breakfast here one time. It was really good! Try the fried pickles, yum! Also loved the pizza, garden salad (such good ranch!), loved the flounder tacos, & cheeseburger.... Breakfast was amazeballs too, veggie omelet & b's&g's !! I believe the owners were the ones who waited on us & cooked on Saturday for breakfast and they were really cool & chill.
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
Breakfast was yummy and the owners are so customer centered. Our go to place when we are on the Cape.
google avatar

Diane M.

Yelp
Fish tacos, grilled cod served on home sweet slaw was really great. Fried pickles were heavy on the batter but hit the salty spot. Tried a pineapple cider which was really perfect for lunch. Nom nom nom.
google avatar

Haley B.

Yelp
I give this restaurant 4/5 stars because the food was amazing. We went for both breakfast and dinner all in one week. The morning crew was amazing, service was great!!! The night shift people were okay except for the fact that they seated us, told us they seated the wrong party, then had to re-seat us 15 minutes later. But other than that, it was good!

Rick M.

Yelp
We were told that LongBill's was the only place to go for fried shrimp and boy were they right! It wasn't only good, it was fantastic. Large, tender, perfectly cooked. Just wonderful. The jalapeños slaw was excellent and a great pairing. All the sauces were spot on. And be sure to get the loaded fries. Sounds like a lot but the flavor is worth it ( you don't have to finish them, but you can try.) service was quick and efficient and Heaven behind the bar was awesome. Super-nice and no BS, which we enjoy. The room is a bit small to get there early. We enjoyed eating at the bar, as did others, and we'd likely do that again. Thanks Heaven and crew! We'll be back!
