Longhorn Grill and Saloon – Amado, Arizona - Gastro Obscura

"Last known as the Longhorn Grill, the once-abandoned commercial space in Amado, Arizona has regained new life when it reopened in May 2019 as the Longhorn Grill and Saloon. The striking feature is the main entrance that has visitors walk through the nose of a giant longhorn skull, making it the most iconic buildings in the area. The building, which is sculpted to look like a colossal cow skull resting against a huge boulder, was built in the 1970s by an enterprising entrepreneur who clearly knew the power of both novelty architecture and giant skulls. While it previously was most recently a restaurant, the building had actually been a bait shop, a clothing store, and a roofing company. Although none of those businesses seemed as appropriate for the space as the steakhouse it became in 1993. The Longhorn Grill operated until 2012, when it finally faced foreclosure and had to be sold at auction. As late as 2013, the space was said to have been used for parties and the like until it was renovated an reopened in 2019. It now serves breakfast through dinner, 7 days a week. Despite its rough past, the proud Western roadside icon remains to this day, and even thrives under the new ownership. The concrete, rebar, and stucco that the 30-foot tall horns are made of continues to hold up despite years under the Arizona sun, and the full restoration work on the interior makes an impressive and comfortable place to stop. Feel free to take your picture in front of the skull. Know Before You Go Open from  8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends." - g gigglingiguana, d dianabranson, dianabranson, Jane Weinhardt Goldberg, gigglingiguana, glenswatman, a arthurbh, g glenswatman, Z Zoobie, psyeklotic, Zoobie, Edward Denny

We eat here monthly, and usually I enjoy a great meal. Good appetizers, great bbq options. This time I had the country fried steak dinner. The veges and mashed potatoes were great, as was the gravy and great salad. But the CFS was the worst I've ever had. Worst. Looked like it was a frozen packaged piece of shoe sole about a 1/4" thick, maybe 3"x5", with a thin crust. It was tough. Not anything like what I expected, and the worst I've had anywhere in the world. Even Denny's CFS is better! Recommend you scratch this off your menu, or make one, from scratch, like anyone would expect from you. Big and thick and tasty. My guests rib rack was excellent, so we'll be back, but the CFS is OFF our list.

Had a great meal! The tri tip bowl was delicious and filling. They also have great interior decorations

10.5/10 Truly a great experience for the whole family. We all enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the service so much! We will be back! A one of a kind restaurant with an amazing staff. Thank you guys so much for providing a dinner our family will remember forever. 😊

Google
Stopped in to dine after some friends recommended the Longhorn. After three visits, we have come to enjoy the entrees and a favorite, the onions chips with the dip. The staff was friendly and made sure that we were enjoying our meals. The atmosphere was comfortable. We have three visits under our belt, and we are definitely going back to Longhorn Grill.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Longhorn Grill and Saloon in Amado, Arizona cater our wedding on 5/25, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! From the start, Nim and her crew were incredibly attentive, professional, and thoughtful—every detail was handled with care, and it showed. We reserved the large tent which was perfect for our friends and family. The food was delicious, the service was seamless, and our guests are still raving about the meal and the warm, welcoming team. It truly felt like they were part of our celebration. There wasn’t a single issue the entire evening, which speaks volumes about the level of organization and commitment this team brings to the table. If you're considering Longhorn for catering or events—do it! They helped make our day unforgettable. Thank you, Nim and everyone at Longhorn Grill and Saloon, for being such a special part of our wedding!

Google
This place was on our list just for a photo, but decided to eat there, bad mistake. service was good, food was horrible, i got a cheesesteak sandwich, when it came the bun was so soggy from the grease i could of rung it out, i could only eat half of it, my husband got a salad with tri steak tips & he said it tasted wild & the meat was in shreds. I think they need a new cook.

Google
Have wanted to try the Longhorn since we arrived in the area a month ago. Mainly to enter thru a giant steer skull. The food and service were amazing. Best beef ribs we have ever eaten. Prices are decent for the huge portions. Our server was super pleasant and made sure our experience matched the food. Check out their daily specials on the website. Can’t wait to go back.

Google
Awesome place! Very nice! Friendly, great service, huge meal. Steaks like butter!(we got the ribeye) Huge salad, grilled veggies, excellent fries! (We had sweet potato and regular) Our son was in heaven! Definitely a must if you’re ever in the area!

Yelp
I've noticed a number of very negative reviews and thought I'd post my experience as a counterpoint. I've been here twice now and really enjoyed it. The food has been great. I've had the brisket sandwich and the chicken cheesesteak thing. Both were very good. Companions have had the Memphis ribs (excellent), and the beef ribs (very good). Sides, particularly the campfire beans, were very good. Service was friendly and attentive both times. And you get enter through a giant steer skull!!! I'll be coming back whenever I'm in the greater Green Valley metropolitan area. Mike sez check it out and decide for yourself!

Yelp
Where do I even begin? My recent visit to Longhorn was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Despite arriving with high hopes for a pleasant dining experience as I been here before, I was sorely disappointed. Upon arrival for our reservation, it was evident that the restaurant was understaffed. After being seated, we waited for drinks for a long time and the server never came by asking for refills. On top of that, we waited a ridiculous hour and a half for our food to arrive. To add insult, in an attempt to quench our thirst while waiting, we decided to grab a drink at the bar. Shockingly, even the bartender seemed to be moving in slow motion, despite there being only one other customer. Overall, the level of service we received was utterly unacceptable. It's a shame, as the food may have been decent, but the horrendous wait times and lack of attentiveness completely overshadowed any positives. Needless to say, I won't be returning anytime soon, and I certainly wouldn't recommend Longhorn to anyone looking for a timely or enjoyable dining experience.

Yelp
Decor was good. Food above average. Unfortunately server spilled our tray of alcoholic beverages and my husband got quite wet. Server was VERY apologetic.

Yelp
Wow, I don't know what else to say. We arrived at 4:30 this afternoon. (Father's Day) I will admit the place had more than a few people there but it was not "busy". I had looked online and FB the day before to see if I needed reservations with it being Father's Day. I saw nothing, maybe I missed it. When we walked in there was a party of three in front of us waiting to be seated. After seating them the hostess/waitress kid I'm not sure what her role was ask me if I had a reservation. I said I didn't know I could make one. She then points to a bench and says I need to sit and wait. I said excuse me because she was borderline rude. She said if you don't have a reservation you'll need to sit and wait. I asked how long? Again kind of rudely she said I don't know. We sat on the bench and had a front row seat to the Sh*t show. There were many open tables she could have sat us at one. We were not in a hurry. After about 15 minutes of watching the debacle and me reading all the negative Yelp reviews we got up and walked out. It's too bad because this a cool place and we have been here several times and it's always slow service but we never had an issue with it. It was never rude. I don't think we will be back.

Yelp
We enjoy the longhorn grill and saloon. We prefer to sit at the bar. They have a good selection of drinks, the food is decent. It's typical bar food, burgers and sandwiches etc. Good portion sizes. Have only gone during the day/early evening so not sure what a dinner rush would look like but it's usually not too busy. The interior is cool and obviously the bull head out front is fun for a photo shoot. Would recommend.

Yelp
Disappointed, expecting at least B level food and service. Ordered a salad entree with steak and asked if a side order of bread could be added. Waitress said we don't sell bread here. Got to tell ya I was floored looked at my girlfriend and was speechless. She never came back for refills of Sandy Diet Coke. She did offer soda crackers with the salad. I thought maybe some garlic toast but we don't sell bread here - why should they it is only a steakhouse. We received our food and waited to get a waitress because they never gave set up the table with any cutlery. This was are 3rd time eating at this restaurant. First time was great and went back for a second and sat in the bar.Never sit in the bar for a meal. We waited 20 minutes to be helped. The table rocked back and forth I asked the waiter who I believe who just started working there if the table could be leveled. Caught him off guard until I showed him with a glass of water rocking.Serving the meal took another space in time which arrived cold. The bartender apologized to the server he forgot to bring are food. Quality of food matched the service besides being dark you couldn't see what you ordered. Eat at your own risk. Not going back

Yelp
If there were minus stars Longhorn Grill would qualify. We were a party of 6 and all meals except 1 steak order were terrible. I ordered a burger that was served cold and had a raw center. I didn't send it back because it would have held up our group. They also didn't have a normally stocked bar item I attempted to order and had to order an alternative drink. big thumbs down! I won't be back until I see better reviews posted for Longhorn Grill!

Yelp
I'll start off with the interior. Cool rustic decor western. Love the wood work and the mason jar concept. Next is service.... Non existent. A worn down lady talking about how she hopes to get a "second wind." There was ONE table there that was getting food shorty after we sat no one else. She took roughly five minutes to take the drink order. After that about ten minutes to bring drinks and another ten to ask for our order. While ordering my daughter got the long horn burger. I asked for it to be medium rare to medium. She said if another chef was working he might do it but the executive chef Donovan from all three locations was there and he only does well done... this is a steak house everything should be cooked to order in my opinion. Ordered the queso with chorizo for the extra $2. Very small amount of cheese in a tiny cast iron served with a mound of stale chips that were over salted. The dip was white queso with a ton of milk or water to thin it. Likely rotel and the tiniest amount of chorizo maybe a chips worth. 0/10. My daughter got the Mac n cheese bites it was Kraft in beer breading over salted. 0/10. My wife got the cheese steak. Trip tip was dry bread wasn't great almost stale. 1/10 (her score she's generous). Burger 0/10. I got the special smoked bbq beef ribs. Burnt on the outside no smoke ring and tough. They were not cooked long enough to render the fat of the ribs so very chewy and fatty. Not in a good way. Green beans were wilted to death steams not cut off at all lightly salted. The beans were ranch style beans with some flavorless green chilies mixed in. Bbq sauce was decent think sweet baby rays mixed with vinegar. Four meals and app $98. Beef ribs 2/10. Green beans -10/10. Beans 3.4/10. Bbq 7.6/10. My overall review of food would be a 2.5/10. Service 1/10. The "executive chef" maybe should change some things and do a fresher product . I don't believe the ribs were smoked at all just grilled. No smoke flavor. No smoke ring at all. In desperate need of flavor there was no rub and tops were burnt. I have been smoking meat for years and an avid bbq enthusiast. I do not recommend this place whatsoever that would include the other two restaurants due to having the same chef. Go someplace else.

Yelp
I'd give it a zero if I could. First time we went the score would have been a negative 100. However, I believe in second chances so my wife and decided to visit again. This time the service was even worse. I asked for ketchup and they brought 2 empty bottles. But that's not all; we walked in and the greeting we got was, "can I help you?" Like we were getting an oil change or something. They won't see me for the 3rd time. You guys have a lot of work to do. Good luck.

Yelp
I have heard many good things about the Longhorn Grill & Saloon. I recently visited for lunch and it turned into a 2 hour ordeal. I ordered a Longhorn Burger, Potato Chips and a Diet Coke. I did request my burger to be rare. What I got an hour later was a cold burger that was burnt to a crisp and equivalent to a hockey puck. I had asked previously if the chips were homemade and was assured they were. What I received was cold soggy fries instead. No explanation, as to why to why the switch. I never received my Diet coke. Once I was done eating I waited for my check, asked for my check and after another 30 minutes I decided to go to the counter and pay my bill. Given my experience at the Longhorn Grill & Saloon, I cannot recommend this place.

Yelp
Excellent food and delicious. The portions are huge and the staff is friendly. Real ranching dining experience.

Yelp
This place is as average as you can get. The one thing that I loved is my ribeye steak and mashed potatoes. The southwest rice was hard and crunchy. The seasonal vegetable was brussels sprouts but some people in our party did not even touch it even though I thought it was tasty. The service was OK but they tried hard to accommodate the group of 13 of us. The food came out at very different times and ironically the people who ordered the bowl and a pork sandwich got their dishes well after the rest of us who ordered steaks and tri tips. I won't come here again but it was a nice ambience inside and even outside.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, they did a really good job with the look, from the time you pull in, to having a seat. The service was OK. The chili was good, it would have been nice to have cheese and onions on it. The chuckwagon salad with tri tip was huge and was really delicious. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
We found this place by accident when we were in Green Valley. It was a fantastic find! Nisa was the best waitress and full of personality. The pulled rib hoagie was amazing! We loved it so much we came back on Sunday night. My hubby has the 1/4 rack of ribs and loved it. The elota(corn) appetizer was the bomb! We are coming back in September and will Be back.

Terri R.

Yelp
Have eaten there twice and the meat has been too salty for my palate. The rest of the meal was delicious.

Riana A.

Yelp
the outside decorations were very cool, & our service was very attentive & friendly. however, the food was underwhelming. we ordered the pepper poppers for an appetizer, & the poppers themselves got mixed reviews, but with the aioli, they were able to redeem themselves. i ordered the bull rider burger, which was huge, & the sweet potato fries. the sweet potato fries were the best tasting food on my plate. the burger was okay, but extremely dry. the chicken fried steak was alright, & so was the side order of brisket chili it came with. the bar was nice enough to make a roy roger for me, though

Yelp
Tried it after it reopened. Not impressed. Food was expensive and calling it mediocre is being generous. Not worth repeating even if it is local.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is terrible. I won't be coming back. Went there on Sunday for dinner: - 15+ minute wait after we were seated for our server to come by. - Drinks came out 20+ minutes past ordering them, appetizers came out before drinks ever did. - Asked for our drinks no less than 3x's and was told that the bartender was busy. (Not that difficult to provide water and sodas) - Their menu has shrunk considerably since the last time we went. Prices keep going up and now they've started adding more MP pricing to standard steak options. $40 for a NY? Are you kidding me? - Was more funny than anything at one point, saw another customers table go into the kitchen to help themselves because the servers were nowhere to be found. They went in to grab plates to share their appetizer amongst the table. - Observed a sever stop by with a tray of food to a table, began handing out some, then left for 5+ minutes while the rest of the table didn't have their food. Was sad seeing the faces of the people at the table not knowing why their server left or what they should do. They eventually just started serving their own food. - Started charging a service fee to use a credit card, that's nice. - Oh yea, the final straw was when we saw the manager finally jumped in. He was for sure quick to seat new restaurant goers and make sure they got their drinks and food, but for those that had been waiting for long periods without service, he completely ignored them even with a couple of times trying to flag him down. Overall it was terrible. And before anyone says they were really busy, they WERE NOT. Less than a 40% occupancy in the main room combined with at least 2 tables walked out due to poor / no service. What a shame. They used to be pretty good.

Yelp
Awesome local restaurant. Great spot. Huge menu and food is delicious. I love their atmosphere, ambiance, and decor. Fun place to dine in. Service is really good. Our server was friendly and prompt. No complaints. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This has to be the most comically horrible meal of all time. We came in a little after 6pm last night. The waitress has us go sit down. The restaurant was almost empty besides one other party who was finishing up their meal. We sit down and the waitress comes over and hands us menus and tells us that she is very tired she has been the only one there all day. We were like o um ok we are sorry. But then she just keeps going saying that she got home at 2am the night before and she will be here late today cleaning. She lives an hour away and it's so much to travel to this job. We didn't ask but managed to get numerous awkward lectures about how tired she was and if her face looks grumpy it's not she's just tired. It was very awkward. Then we order food and then she starts complaining about the cooks in the back saying they are giving her a headache and making motions like she wants to choke them. It was the most uncomfortable thing ever. My dad asked about the Mexican coleslaw and she insinuated it was disgusting and the owner just calls it Mexican by adding beans and corn to it. We then waited probably 45-60 min for food despite nobody else being in the restaurant. The real treat was when right before our food came out a big whiff of marijuana came Emanating from the back. My 90 year old grandmother was mortified. Then our food comes out and it ranged from barely edible to terrible. My husband had a "dip" sandwich with nothing to dip it in and described it as the texture of shoe leather. We just desperately wanted out of this incredibly awkward situation. My bbq pork sandwich didn't have any sauce on it and then we had to wait forever for her to go get bbq sauce. Then another couple comes in at about 7:30 and the waitress goes on a rant to them and the room about how the cooks are trying to leave and they are going to kill her because people want food now and she was supposed to put the blinds down earlier. She told them they had to order now or else. We wanted to turn around and tell them to run. I have to say this has to be the worst, most awkward restaurant experience of my life. My family was so uncomfortable we were trying to figure out how to leave but felt obligated to stay as our food hadn't come and we already ordered. I know everyone has bad days but I really hope the waitress learns to keep her inner dialogue to herself to customers because it was incredibly awkward and unprofessional. We all cringed every time she came out of the back. Needless to say none of us will ever be back.

Yelp
When we go to the restaurant The Host told us she cannot take us right now. (We were party of two) and told us to go to the saloon section. We walked past the main dining room there were at least four empty tables and we did not see any reservation signs or anything but FOR SOME REASON they didn't want us there. WHATEVER. We got seated in the saloon section, waited for about 15 minutes but nobody ever came so we left. If they were very understaffed, they could have at least told us they couldn't take us in the main dining area because they were short handed or give us some sort of explaining and we would understand.
google avatar

Yelp
What makes this place so amazing is the ambiance, the live music most weekends, dance classes, Ashley, and regular visits with friends. What makes this place a last choice for dinner is the service any night that Ashley is off. The bartender is awesome. Stop at McDonalds before you go out there to drink and dance. Dinner is a mythical creature that never actually arrives at your table.

Kandi J.

Yelp
After a lackluster experience last time we came here, we decided to give it another try. We really wish we wouldn't have. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I really did. Unfortunately, the food and service were just as mediocre as the first time. My husband and I shared the 16 oz Ribeye meal, which came with salad, baked potato, and steamed broccoli. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, and it came out almost with a pulse. It was blue-rare. Our server acted offended that we asked to send it back. Baked potato was cold, and the broccoli was...broccoli. When the steak came back out for the second time, it was decent, but nothing spectacular. A solid 4 out of 10. Our server didn't have many tables, yet she acted like she was overwhelmed. We hardly saw her. When it was time to pay the bill, we had to wait a long time for her to return. I'm sure the bar is the only reason this place is still in business.

Yelp
Food Once again I thought maybe things had changed so I took two friends to the longhorn saloon again and it's a real shame there's so much potential but so poor on execution everything is cooked way way too much the salmon was way overdone the wait staff was totally inattentive I do understand since COVID things have changed in the restaurant industry and I feel bad for the owners of this place but I'm not sure where the pointed diminishing returns is we're the owner just have to say look I'd rather close than have a bunch of patrons pissed off at me The service was really really bad the food was really really mediocre and it could have been so much better because things like the poblano burger are great if they're not charred to a crisp the blackened Caesar salad was very tasty except the salmon was again charred to a crisp and then the worst part was that nobody came and checked on you to get you drinks except the bus boy was the most attentive of them all anyway it's a real shame I feel for the owners but I think really if they can't do it decent job they should close down.

Yelp
Our son was getting married in Amado and we hosted the rehearsal dinner at Longhorn. They have a private back room, The Miner's Shack, which holds up to 40 people. Planning was seamless with Nim guiding us and working with us on every detail. When I panicked because we forgot our bluetooth speaker to play our music, they were at the ready with one to borrow. Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet with corn bread, 3 meats, beautiful caesar salad, 3 sides and dessert. There was a bar in the room and a dedicated bartender to keep the drinks flowing. We could not have asked for a better evening!

Yelp
Great lunch! Great atmosphere! Clean, upscale restaurant with a parking lot full of local customers!!! Obviously, one of the local favorites for residents and guests of Sahuarorita, Green Valley, Amado, Tubac, and Rio Rico!!!

Cindy B.

Yelp
I just attended a dinner with 40 of my RVW friends at this restaurant. The dinner was good and the service was TERRIFIC! It says a lot for a restaurant that can take drink orders for 40 people followed by 40 dinner orders all at the same time, get it all right and then offer individual checks. We had a private room with the table decorated in Christmas theme with our own water and iced tea station. We were very impressed with Longhorn and plan to return there again next year. (Mike was a hoot!)

Debra S.

Yelp
food was okay, service was good. we would go back. None of our party had steak. Two salads, burger and brisket sandwich And drinks. They were not busy on Sunday for dinne. The onion chips are very good!!

Yelp
So... a while ago, i went to Nogales on some business and a group of us stumbled across this dark desert highway... with a cool wind in my hair... A certain smell of colitas was rising up in the air... lol... Thank you Eagles... (Hotel California) Anyway, the people (staff and patrons) were very friendly to us and it was a fun evening to say the least...BUT the food... the food was on a whole different level. BEST STEAK ON THE 19... Overall, Ambience, Food, Presentation, Price and Service were on point... i give this place a 4.5 but there's no halves so it's a 4. I'm gonna ding them for the location; IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE!!!

Dj J.

Yelp
If could give zero, would. 4 of us. Meat was so dry, hard to eat, very fatty. Very disappointed

Yelp
one star seems too high for this restaurant. the food was absolutely horrible...the salad was brown some pieces looked like cooked spinach. 30 minutes later we got our food...the baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn't melt, the Brussels sprouts were raw and not at all edible them came the chicken fried steak if you can call it that, I think it was microwaved!!! all this for a whopping $22....my husbands hamburger steak for $24 had to have a knife to cut it!!! the only thing worse than the food was the service!!! we ate here two years ago was very good...sad to see how far it has gone down!!!! don't waste your time or money!!! oh we called the owner....would not even return our call...obviously does not care!!!

Allen O.

Yelp
The food was good. The service sucked not enough BBQ sauce a smoke house that runs out of BBQ sauce "REALLY!" This was the Amado location. The restaurant in Sahuarita is excellent the food great and the service is wonderful. I will never go to the Amado location again!!!

Deana C.

Yelp
The steak was amazing, lots of flavor, onion chips were really good, felt bad for the waitress, there was only one at first, cute place

Catherine J.

Yelp
Four of us (two couples) went here a few weeks ago on a Friday evening. We arrived around 7:30 pm and waited for a hostess for about 5 minutes. I finally walked around to the bar to ask if we should seat ourselves. Bartender said no, she would get someone out to the hostess station. We waited another 5-10 minutes for someone to show up to seat us. After being seated, we waited 10-15 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. We should have ordered our food at the same time, but waitress ran away before we could - she came back about 15 minutes after we ordered drinks to take our food order. Our drinks finally came 30 minutes after we ordered them. Our food took another 30-45 minutes after food was ordered. Food was just ok for most of us - one person had the brisket ruben and said it was terrible. We ordered another round of drinks, and I was told the glass of a particular wine was not what I actually received - waitress said they "mixed it special" for me??!! I didn't ask for a wine blend, I asked for a glass of a particular bottle. If they were out of that bottle, they should have come back and told me. Waitress never really apologized for the bad service, just said they were very busy - they weren't very busy. They may have been busy earlier in the evening, but not when we were there. All in all a very disappointing experience. We won't be back and we tell everyone at our RV resort not to go here.

Yelp
Service sucks!!! Got sat down and waited like three minutes to get a menu from a girl who pretty much just threw our menus on the table and walked away. Waitress came bye to give us our drinks told us that she'll give us a couple of minutes to look over menu, we sat for almost 25 minutes for her to come back she never did. So we paid for our drinks and left. The restaurant was not busy at all.

Yelp
Service was slow, and entree came out before appetizer did. The service from the bar tender however was great even though she was slammed and had no help. She ran her behind off keeping everyone happy. I ordered the walleye and it was good however full of bones which doesn't bother me but some it may. A few bones is expected however every bite had numerous in them. The rice was hard and way under cooked couldn't eat it. The green beans were great and the baked potato was good but like the rice super hard and undercooked however I was able to eat it. All in all not a bad place however I think next time I'll try a steak!

Yelp
Waiter was very kind. Really liked him. Had high hopes but wasn't satisfied with the meal. Upon finishing my side I saw a big chunk of a rotten potato in the dish which was a turn off. They did provide a discount which was appreciated. Hopefully this will just be a learning experience for the chef or chefs.

Yelp
Seven of us went to the Amado Craft Show and Farmers Market held at Longhorn Grill and picked up a few things. Upon leaving we decided to stop in for some lunch. Upon entering we saw plenty of seating but was informed they were reserved and that the bar area would give better service anyways. That was not true, the bartender ignored us while counting tickets and serving customers at the bar, 20 minutes later he finally came over and took our beverage and food order, 20 minutes after that we got up and walked out. The bartender failed to bring us even water and couldn't have cared less as we walked single file out the door, not even looking up to acknowledge what was happening.

Yelp
It has been a while since I went down and had some food. But when I went down last night with a friend I wanted to introduce to the area. Felt it was a time for redemption for the longhorn. Oddly enough, they didn't disappoint. Their menu got smaller, their steaks became a focus and the longhorn steakhouse found their employee footing. Sure the waitress was a little slow, but her co-workers pulled up the slack and made the dinner a real gem. If your passing through and want a steak, you can't go wrong here. If you happen to be around on the weekend the music is eclectic and lively. It's a great showing in Amado and it feels good to have a destination restaurant in the area again.

Yelp
Saw the Horns from the Highway so knew I had to give it a shot if just for the Photo. Traveling with Wife & Mother-in-Law so was hoping it was good for my sake - LOL Entered through the Skull and came out in Bar, everyone was friendly from the young man who held door for my Mother-in-Law to the Bartender who directed us to dining area. We were seated right away, and our Waitress "Rachelle" -I think I got spelling right was amazing from start to finish. My wife & her Mom wanted to split the 12oz Sirloin, it was brought out on two plates with Steak split equally like a Surgeon did it between the two. Each had thier own potato & vegetables, they were just expecting an extra plate. I ordered the 14oz Porterhouse (Med) and it was perfection, could not have asked for the Steak to be done better than what I got. We all enjoyed our Steaks which is a big deal when with your Mother-in-Law. We started with the Corn Nuggets which are a must try, the sauce that came with them was amazing. My biggest compliant (Need More) they was gone in seconds-LOL. The Cornbread came out in a miniature pan (cool), at first I was thinking not enough but turned out to be it was. Wife thought a little dry, but the peppers in the cornbread made up for it. Smothered in butter, I did not notice any dryness-LOL. The place was clean, restrooms nice and plenty of parking. The best experience was our Waitress who really impressed my Mother-in-Law (something I have yet been able to do) with her attention and plate splitting. (Thank You) We will visit again on our drive to Nogales & back.

Yelp
This restaurant used to be pretty good. The atmosphere is really cool western. The food however has really gone downhill. We ate there tonight and it was the worst experience ever at a restaurant. When we finally got our food the waitress set a bowl of potato chips in front of my husband for his dinner. Seriously. then she argued that in fact that was what he had ordered! It was actually bizarre and funny. Wouldn't you think a waitress would ask a guest if they were actually ordering a bowl of potato chips for dinner? He had actually ordered a French Dip with chips as his side. I heard him order it. Weird.

Yelp
Great breakfast on Sunday morning. The waitress and other staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a welcoming feel to it and we enjoy eating there. Hope they will remain open with menus on Sunday morning

Yelp
Driving back from Tubac, AZ we noticed the large Longhorn entry and decided to try this place. We were served promptly by Mike, the bartender and ordered our food and drinks. The drinks were well made and the food was very tasty. I had the Longhorn Cheesesteak and my wife had the French Dip. The meat to bread ratio is great and the meat was very tender and served hot. The place was not as clean as we would expect and the food took 15-20 minutes to arrive at the table. We ate in the bar. The cleanliness and long wait for food is the reason for not a 5 star. Would eat here again.

Yelp
Just had lunch and it was delicious. I ordered the brisket Ruben and a salad. The service was great too. We will be back.

Yelp
We made the mistake of going to this place on Mother's Day. The service was the worst we have ever experienced South of Tucson. The appetizers were mediocre at best. Our non-alcoholic drinks were not refreshed. We waited 2 full hours and were NEVER served the steaks we ordered. Turns out they served our food to the table behind us (a fact which they tried to hide from us).... The management offered us gift certificates valued at what we would have paid had we continued to wait (beyond the 2 hours we had already waited). We didn't wait. We simply walked out. Why would we want gift certificates to a place we will never set foot in again. I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE everyone from wasting their time and money at this dying establishment. The best way this place could serve the community would be to permanently close its doors.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and don't go! Party of 10, took 15 mins to put in drink orders, took 20 mins to get my beer although my wife got her lemonade in 10 mins. 30 mins later we ordered entrees, half rack of ribs for me, my wife got a quesadilla. 30 mins later everyone got their entrees except my wife. Everyone was done eating when my wife got her quesadilla, she refused it and had to go up to the bar to request the check. Gave the server our complaint and she walked away. This is my third visit since they have opened! Not happy with any visit and this was the worst. Three Strikes and your out!

Yelp
So far, I have not had any bad experiences here but that may be because I sit at the bar usually. So far, so good. I've heard bad and good things so maybe close part of the restaurant so you can concentrate on serving and food? Just a thought.

Yelp
The service was good. Dined in the outside tent and a lot of people got served in a very timely manner. The live band was very loud but did an excellent job of entertaining everyone. The folks in our group that ordered the cheeseburgers enjoyed them. Unfortunately, those of us who ordered the chicken and ribs combo were very disappointed. The chicken was tasty but very small. The ribs were so overcooked they should never have been served. Fortunately, the rib portion was also very small. The menu is pretty expensive. For the portion size and quality of food I would never recommend this restaurant. Unless you just go for a burger and the live entertainment.

Yelp
Came in around 1pm on a Tuesday, party of 3, one a child. Our very tall hostess glanced at us, waiting there, then scurryed off to do something. She returned after 7-8minutes. Looked at my husband and asked if we wanted a table. I'm not sure how many people hang out in restaurant lobbies for fun, but yes, we were starving and looking to eat. She sat us, didn't ask us if we wanted water or anything and left. And there we sat, watching her pass us by 3 to 4 times, serving other tables. After 15 minutes, we left. Nothing better than explaining to your 4yo that we are leaving since we are beneath being served. We don't expect our servers to run, but we don't expect to be blatantly ignored. I see from other reviews it's not just us. We won't be back.

Yelp
This VERY BUSY steakhouse drew us in because of outdoor seating and a live band. However, they could not and did not handle the crowd. Shame on the owner(s) for being helplessly understaffed with poorly skilled waitstaff. Our water never came, nor did the salads. When the meals arrived, they were cold and the side dishes wrong. No butter or sour cream for my baked potato (who knew I should have ordered some!!) My $50 dinner was unhappily not worth the food or service. The band was good, the weather perfect. The best part of our 2-hour dining experience was leaving.
