Longrain Melbourne

The ambience and lighting was a little too dark. We were seated on a giant log table which ended up being shared with other customers which felt a little awkward. Food was decent but expensive. The ribs had good flavour overall and everything else is what you would expect from a Thai restaurant. The betel leaf was the star amongst all the dishes we had. Perfect balance of freshness from the leaf and fragrant meat within.

Lovely dinner here. Service was very efficient and friendly. Straight on the important stuff such as bringing the wine out etc. we went for the banquet option for food, as seemed easiest, got to try some things we wouldn’t have ordered. Glad we got too . Though I’d probably liked a seafood dish instead of one of the three main meat dishes. But all was good. Desert in particular Wine list was excellent. I can see why they have won award for this. We went for an obscure Pinot which hit the spot and was reasonably priced. $175 each for banquet, one beer and $110 bottle of wine All in all would be back. Glad to have come. Thanks

My sixth visit, and once again the food was consistently excellent. The service matched the same high level as always, and the ambiance is warm and enjoyable. When we left my son said, “I wish we could eat food at this level every day.” Hard to disagree.

An easy 5 out of 5! Love the beetle nut leaves snack! I had something similar in Chiang Mai. Theirs is a slightly elevated version which is also spot on! Open up the appetite perfectly! Everything has the right balance of flavor, even the right portion! Any more would be too much, any less would be not satisfactory. You don’t want to miss this spot when in Melbourne!

Pretentious, overpriced, not Thai food. Some dishes were good- including the snapper, fried pork and softshell crab. I’ve eaten Thai food all over the world including Thailand. This place is more concerned with being modern and different than it is with presenting authentic Thai flavors. Yellow shrimp curry was the biggest disappointment. Overly bitter and acidic. Punishingly spicy without the compliment of coconut milk. How can you call a Thai curry a Thai curry if it has no coconut milk? The fried tofu was so wet and runny it was inedible. No rice noodles on the menu. Some average dishes, none great, some so outright bad they ruined our night. We had to order more food because the 130$ tasting portions weren’t big enough. The meal was not worth 350 AUD.

We had a wonderful dinner at Longrain last night with colleagues. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour, and the dessert share plate was outstanding. The food was exceptional overall,highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be returning soon.

The food was absolutely outstanding and the service was just as wonderful. My partner and I came here and everything about the experience felt special. The staff were attentive which really added to the evening. The betel leaf with prawn, green chilli and lime was a perfect way to start. It tasted so fresh and full of flavour in every bite. And I can’t not mention the coconut ice cream, it was like eating clouds. I don’t usually lean towards sweet desserts, but this one completely won me over. We will definitely be back!

Our party of four had the banquet at Longrain and it was fabulous! Wonderful food, terrific service. I would thoroughly recommend.
