Absolutely loved exploring this place. The site is very well preserved in a sympathetic way, but having the original guns in place is a really eye opening thing to see. Being able to explore the wider complex was also great, although the observation bunker was closed when we were there which was a shame.

They appear quite sudden in the middle of a field, the bunkers of Longues-sur-Mer. You can see there’s been have fighting in the area. Some of the original 150mm guns are still there. You can go into the bunkers to have a look. A visit lasts about an hour. There is a visitor center but you don’t have to use that

A building has been built close to the batteries and also a comfortable car parking. Area is really wide and can be improved more.

100% worth a visit, amazing to see what happened here. Well looked after and I couldn't believe how well preserved the guns are. Get there and have a look.

Normandy’s preserved WWII coastal gun emplacements. Situated between Omaha and Gold beaches. This site retains its original German naval guns inside fortified concrete casemates.

A little off the beaten path but worth the trip. Not fancy but the remains of the battery are a nice walk and the plaques around the site make for a decent self-guided tour. Also a good view of the remnants of the artificial harbour at Arromanches just past the cliffs.

A stunning step back in time — the Longues-sur-Mer battery offers powerful views and powerful history. Well-preserved bunkers, sweeping cliffs, and a tangible connection to D-Day. A must-visit on the Normandy coast.

It’s good to get a perspective of the German positioning during World War II and what the allies were trying to defeat on D-Day. it’s a very nice walk and you have the opportunity to walk inside the german artillery locations. Those guns shot 305 mm rounds six per minute. I could only imagine how loud it was.

Pretty cool place to spend 30 minutes. Not much to see but it was interesting. Chills down your spine when you see the destroyed units next to those left intact.
