Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"Housed in a 19th-century Victorian, Longwood Inn is cozy and charming with old-school B&B character, comfortable traditional furnishings, very professional and friendly staff, and guest access to the kitchen that makes it feel like staying with a friend." - Matthew Kepnes

This is my place to stay when my family is having surgery. The staff are friendly and welcoming. My past visit I especially found Angel to be “my Angel” when we were in Boston for a transplant surgery. He was so accommodating and kind. The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable and the restaurant is convenient as well as the local food court which adjoins the hotel.

Great little inn in decent walking distance to the ball park and surroundings. Charming inside lounges. We had a room with direction access to the ground floor and porch. The rooms were clean and good for the money. The common areas and kitchen with shared fridge were cute and clean. Nice little spot and right on the trail with a decent amount of parking.

This was hands down one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. As soon as we got to the room, we noticed the bed smelled strongly of urine. I called the front desk immediately, and they said they’d send housekeeping. When housekeeping arrived, instead of addressing the clear issue — the urine smell — they started pointing out unrelated things like a few chip crumbs on the bed or a small stain on a blanket, as if that excused the urine smell. Then they began throwing items around and acting extremely unprofessional. What made it even worse was the General Manager’s attitude. She was rude, loud, and completely dismissive of our concerns. We were told there would be no refund, even though the room was clearly unacceptable. Instead of trying to understand or help, she started yelling at us and stormed out of the room. To top it all off, she falsely accused us of smoking in the room just because a puff bar was charging on the table. We weren’t smoking, but she just jumped to conclusions. This stay was not worth the $200+ we spent. If you care at all about cleanliness, professionalism, or being treated with basic respect, do not stay here. You’re better off spending your money literally anywhere else.

Me and my partners stay at this hotel during a business trip we were met with a few disappointments, starting off there is only stairs to get to the third floor so getting our luggage up was pretty difficult! After that there was a shared fridge in the kitchen the disappointment there was that there was no room in the fridge and we could barely fit our leftovers in there (the kitchen was very clean and you could even cook your own meals there), there should be more rules on how much food one room can store at a time in my opinion. The next disappointment and definitely the biggest was the fact of our window having black mold, we discovered this on our second to last night and just went without a/c since it was nice enough to just leave the window open. My sinus’s are still recovering lol. Last was our toilet broke on the second day and the water was just constantly running, I would assume house cleaning would have notified someone about it but it stayed like that through out our whole stay. I don’t know exactly how much the stay was because the company paid for it but surely it wasn’t worth all this.

Be prepared for stairs Small room with bed too soft (though that is matter of taste). Decor a bit shabby. Parking is no longer free and there is no street parking available. Residential neighborhood and no breakfast so you’ll need to walk a few blocks for breakfast. Person at front desk was friendly.

A lovely Inn. Quaint New-England decor with the welcoming feel of an elegant, turn of the century home. Fireplaces, conversational areas, balcony overlooking a park, delicate floral wallpaper and art. Photo of John F. Kennedy overlooks the wooden, polished staircase and foyer. Close to the Longwood Hospital District. (And Fenway Park?) Renovated, shared kitchen available.

It's OK. Staff was nice, when there. Parking is $25 (not free). Room was small, but clean. 20 min. walk from children's hospital is nice as driving in Boston is not fun.. They provide coffee. Full sized bed (not queen, king). TV options are limited. Room was hot, but A/C window unit was fine. I don't know if I'd stay there again or not.

We were recently in Boston to visit our son, who was unexpectedly taken to the hospital. My husband & I both stayed for two nights, then he left for home and I stayed another four nights. As this was an unplanned trip, we were relieved to find a place within walking distance that had reasonable rates (under $120/night) and parking ($25/night). |Barbara was extremely flexible, allowing me to let her know each morning if I’d be staying another night, and she let me switch rooms twice. |We spent our first two nights on the third floor, room 39: Queen size bed, small table with two chairs, and a nice large bathroom. The carpeting could stand to be updated. I asked for a second floor room, so there wouldn’t be as many stairs, and room 25 was available. Very nice room overlooking the field in back, but the bathroom was much smaller. After two nights there, I asked for a room with a larger bathroom and got the Superior room, #21, which was my favorite. This was a larger room with a queen bed and a single bed, large bathroom, couch, two chairs and a desk. |I can’t stress enough, how sweet, accommodating, and helpful Barbara was. This was a very stressful trip for us and we felt very lucky to find a safe, clean, affordable place to stay on such short notice. We will definitely be going back.
