This is one of the better places we have ever stayed and we do travel extensively overseas and within Australia. Nick & Jen the hosts are fabulous and their hospitality is above and beyond. We stayed in Rm 5 the Diggers Cave and every little detail has been thought of to make your stay very comfortable. Right down to really good quality toilet paper, a well stocked kitchen, good internet and great towels for the bathroom (very important) Showers were hot and bed was extremely comfortable. Was an interesting experience to stay somewhere partially underground and surprisingly very cosy and comfortable. As the bedroom is totally underground it is totally dark at night except for the vent that goes up to the above ground so perfect for sleeping. You can also walk up the stairs from the carpark then over the top of the hotel to get a great view of Coober Pedy at Sunset. Take a torch if coming down in the dark as part of the path is dirt/pebbles on a slight slope. All the pipes sticking out of the ground are the vents for each of the accomodations. Highly recommend The Lookout Cave Underground Motel if looking for accomodation in Coober Pedy.

What a wonderful experience.|I was expecting it to be more rustic, in keeping with the town, but it was stunning. The expertise of the people who carved these halls and rooms is to be marveled. The rooms and the queen bed were comfortable and the showers hot. The two nights that we stayed, the outside temp was around 4C but in the hallways and rooms it remained a very pleasant 21C. I've been told that it remains this temp all year round.|It is without hesitation that I recommend the Lookout Cave as your next stay in Coober Pedy.

This was one of the highlights of our stay in Coober Pedy. Tasso was an amazing host, very welcoming and gave us fantastic information about what to do in the town and nothing was too much for him. The staff were also extremely pleasant. The rooms were excellent and the ambience of the whole place was outstanding. Would highly recommend,

My wife and I spent 3 nights in this lovely motel after driving from Perth WA (28th to 31st August). We were on our way to Uluru and the 3 nights we spent at this motel were the best of our entire journey. The rooms were beautiful and clean and made our stay in Coober Pedy memorable. Nick the owner/manager was friendly and a wealth of knowledge about the area. We enjoyed the stay so much that we booked another night for our return trip (5 Sept) so in all spent 4 nights.

I spent a week at Lookout Cave Underground and absolutely loved my stay! The room was fantastic, both comfortable and quirky looking. The beds were comfy, the bathroom nice, and the views outside fantastic! You don't have to climb up onto the roof for a great view over Coober Pedy, but it's worth doing. We really enjoyed watching the cockatoo flocks in the morning and evenings, and a bit of stargazing in the night. After noodling for opal we really appreciated the coin operated laundry facilities. The owners were very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, and Umoona Opal Museum even gave us a discount for showing our Lookout Cave Underground Motel key! This place may only be considered a 3 star motel, but it's better than 3 in my estimation.

The Lookout motel was fantastic. The staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. The rooms were spotless. We had the Diggers room that was perfect for our needs. I could not recommend this hotel enough.

Stayed here for one night on the way up to the NT and it was a great spot for a stop over. We stayed in the underground room and it had modern facilities, kettle and fridge. Everything was incredibly clean and staff were very helpful with dinner recommendations. Parking available on site and you can walk just up the top of the motel to see over the town and watch the sunset. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Well maintained, clean and comfortable rooms. The rooms were well lit and kids felt at ease. Very convenient location and the owners were helpful with providing information about the area and places to eat. We spent 2 nights as a group of 10 and everyone enjoyed their stay. They also have a laundry for guests to use.

Yelp
Unique experience! Have stayed here many times and thoroughly enjoyed it! Always clean and staff are very friendly! However our room this time was lacking somewhere to put our case we found the head board uncomfortable especially with only one pillow! I am being picky now but it would be nice to have shower gel, shampoo etc. But more than anything it would be nice to have some kind of seating on top of the cave even if it is just a plank to sit on as the ground is uneven and very stony, we took a picnic up to watch the sunset but for 4 of us it was difficult to find 4 patches to sit on!

Yelp
A great place to stay for the true underground experience. Ambience: The photos here are to be believed - the rooms are clean, well appointed and surprisingly spacious given they are dug underground. The temperature was kept just right and it's a good quiet place too. Got some great photos of sunrise and sunset over CP. Service: Great staff. It's a family owned business and they all like their work. Nick (the father) is a pleasant Greek ex-pat who picked us up at the airport (complete with name-sign) and dropped us off when we were to head out. He's an ex-miner too, so he can tell some stories about how the town has changed and what opal mining life is like. Good free WiFi. Food: My only complaint - there is no restaurant or even so much as a vending machine. You can get a very basic breakfast but other than that you will have to go into town for meals. That's a 6 block walk each way and since the place is up on a hill, it's not great after a long active day. Price: Quite reasonable and less than some of the places downtown which weren't "underground". Book early as the place is nearly always full. But worth it to get the sense of living underground.
