Amazing place to stay! Clean, comfy, and updated room and bathroom. They were supposed to be closed one more day but somehow our booking went through and they still honoured it - legends! Great view from the lookout too. Would definitely recommend and stay again :-)

We had the most amazing time staying at the Lookout Cave. They have created such a beautiful envionment, the styling of the motel is stunning, and I never would have thought that being underground could be so beautiful. We really cannot fault anything about this motel, everything was at such a high level and the staff were so friendly and keen for us to have the best stay. We had the Queen Apartment, which has a small kitchen, living area and two bedrooms, which was perfect for us travelling with kids - and meant we could hang out together once the kids were in bed. This was definitely worth the extra cost. We were able to have our meals there and relax with the kids in between seeing the many sights in Coober Pedy, which are all within a 5 minute drive (other than the Breakaways). This was the perfect base for us to explore Coober Pedy, and the info from the motel on all the attractions was perfect for planning our time. The kids loved staying underground and so did we - it is so unique. We also saw some of the other rooms, and the rest of the motel, and they were all the same quality, just varied in sizes and amenities. The furniture and beds were all so comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed. We also loved the view from out the front, and, especially, watching the sunset from the top of the hill above the motel (effectively the "roof"!).

Fantastic place to stay. The room was great. Secure area to have the caravan while we enjoyed the luxury of the room. |Outdoor area looking over Coober Pedy at sunset. Area for children to play. Guest laundry available. Such a treasure of a place to stay.

So easy to find a top a hill at the end of Hutchinson Street. The owner made us feel welcome and gave us an itinerary of attractions to see for the remainder of the day. Entering the motel we were blown away, the dugout corridor was huge. Our room was nicely update with modern features and very comfortable.

What a beautiful motel. We would highly recommend to stay here. Was top notch for the area. Beautiful decor. Clean and very comfortable. So quiet sleeping underground. An amazing experience. You can also go up to there look out and watch the sunset and stars. Great service too. Lovely lady at reception.

Loved the location. We had the diggers cave accomodation. It was comfortable with friendly host. Reasonably clean. Would have liked more attention to details like cleaner surfaces and cleaning the ceiling vent in bathroom for better ventilation.

Fantastic 2 night stay at the Miners Dugout in the Lookout Cave. Our host was very friendly and informative. Accommodation was outstanding. Clean, so comfortable and well presented. Bonus of watching the sunset over Coober Pedy from our accommodation. Close to the town but still quiet. The best sleep on our 6 week road trip! Thanks for such a great stay.

We stayed 2 nights in the Diggers Cave. The room exceeded our expectations. I was a bit worried staying in and "underground" apartment being clastrphobic but i had no issues at all. The bed was very comfortable and because the bedroom is at the back of the apartment with no windows, it is pitch black at night and in the morning which for a light sleeper like me worked wonderfully. The bathroom was modern and the shower was very hot with excellent pressure. The kitchenette came in handy and everything you needed to cook with except a microwave, but it had an oven. The loungeroom was spacious but there is no dining table to eat at as such but there is a study desk with 2 chairs but we just ate on our laps on the couch. If you are looking for a great authentic place to stay, that is very clean and tidy, modern and comfortable then Lookout Cave Underground Motel is your pick. There is a guest laundry, free parking and excellent 360 degree views from on top of the motel. There is stairs to climb to get up to see the whole of Coober Pedy. Nick on the front desk was friendly and pointed out the must do things on a map for us. We had an excellent stay in Coober Pedy and can highly recommend Lookout Cave Underground Motel. 10/10 from us

Yelp
Unique experience! Have stayed here many times and thoroughly enjoyed it! Always clean and staff are very friendly! However our room this time was lacking somewhere to put our case we found the head board uncomfortable especially with only one pillow! I am being picky now but it would be nice to have shower gel, shampoo etc. But more than anything it would be nice to have some kind of seating on top of the cave even if it is just a plank to sit on as the ground is uneven and very stony, we took a picnic up to watch the sunset but for 4 of us it was difficult to find 4 patches to sit on!

Yelp
A great place to stay for the true underground experience. Ambience: The photos here are to be believed - the rooms are clean, well appointed and surprisingly spacious given they are dug underground. The temperature was kept just right and it's a good quiet place too. Got some great photos of sunrise and sunset over CP. Service: Great staff. It's a family owned business and they all like their work. Nick (the father) is a pleasant Greek ex-pat who picked us up at the airport (complete with name-sign) and dropped us off when we were to head out. He's an ex-miner too, so he can tell some stories about how the town has changed and what opal mining life is like. Good free WiFi. Food: My only complaint - there is no restaurant or even so much as a vending machine. You can get a very basic breakfast but other than that you will have to go into town for meals. That's a 6 block walk each way and since the place is up on a hill, it's not great after a long active day. Price: Quite reasonable and less than some of the places downtown which weren't "underground". Book early as the place is nearly always full. But worth it to get the sense of living underground.
