Visited for the first time yesterday afternoon, and it was a bit of challenge for me or my parents or uber driver to spot the sign (it’s directly beside the bar The Draft and directly below The Mindful Mutt via an exterior staircase. The sign is two side by side light black wooden posts standing about a foot apart and stuck into the ground, with three stacked dark black boards attached that read “Looney Tunes Gallery, Vinyl Albums, Bought, Sold, Traded” with a black wrought iron gate, with vertical bars just behind the sign. I love how the entrance gives a slightly hidden, basement level vibe; beautifully reinforcing the shop’s underground identity. We called on a cell phone when the Uber driver couldn’t find the entrance area, and the owner or manager, Pat, was very helpful and gave precise location info until we found the shop. When I entered, I was greeted by Pat, who was just hanging around the stacks, shooting the breeze with a seemingly familiar customer. Be prepared that Pat is on the straight faced animated side. His joking can seem like he is messing with your head a bit, but only in jest and because that’s part of his unique charm. HE IS NOT RUDE, like a few other reviewers have called him. If you are scared off by his raw personality, then you don’t deserve a truly authentic old-school record store experience. Pat is very knowledgeable about records, as is the woman who works there (blanking on her name. Sorry), and they can help you with whatever you may need or want there. I came to Looney Tunes, thinking there would be a ton of CDs, when they were really a tiny minority of the merch. The vinyl selection is huge and very wide-ranging, with nice prices. I am already chomping at the bit to buy a good record player, so I may return to the shop, pronto, for their amazing vinyl selection and warm, fun, and inviting atmosphere.
