As an east coast transplant to Southern California, it's easy to guess I am a sucker for good pizza and my search for the closest east coast style pizza is endless. I've been called a pizza snob because I don't consider franchise or chain pizza restaurants any good. Well, well, along comes Loosies Pizza, a small place that opened up in the heart of 4th Street downtown Santa Ana that's become our family's go to spot for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the taste and the crust, top notch ! If you like a thick doughy doughnut like crust, this place is not for you, I prefer mine thin crunchy and toasted.
One of the problems I've encountered with franchise pizza is the amount of different sizes available kid size, personal size, large, larger, gigantic?!? All makes for an inconsistent cook. At Loosies there's only one perfect size so the pizza is always consistently cooked and the slices are always proportionate.
The service is terrific, while the place is small, plenty of room to grab a slice sit and enjoy. There's outdoor sitting as well and again it's in the heart of the scenic 4th St. Downtown markets. If you want to pick up some pies, consistently around 20 minutes and they're ready. Come and enjoy the closest east coast pizza in the west coast.
