Relax at World-Famous Beach at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort - AFAR

"Opened in 2019 on Bávaro Beach in Punta Cana, this five-star, all-inclusive resort pairs miles of prime coastline with a contemporary 'W'-shaped design framed by palm gardens and flowing water features to create a restorative, laid-back Caribbean escape. The beach is widely celebrated—warm turquoise water, fine white sand, mellow waves created by a distant sea shelf, and a constant breeze—and the property offers a more than 1,000-foot private beachfront with plentiful sunbeds. Amenities are extensive and varied: seven pools including a dramatic double-level, tiered infinity pool (about 31,000 sq ft), an Om Spa with therapeutic treatments, an onsite theater and discotheque, a waterpark called Splash Island, teen and kids clubs, a modern gym, and more than a million square feet of landscaped gardens. Dining spans nine restaurants and multiple casual outlets—highlights include buffet options (Caribe and Atlántico), pan-Asian teppanyaki at Inari, French fare such as chateaubriand with Roquefort ice cream at La Boheme, a Mexican seafood-focused dish (a Northern red snapper fillet with mussels in Poblano sauce) at El Charro, Mediterranean plates like free-range chicken skewers with yogurt-cucumber and couscous at Mareas, Italian dishes such as gnocchi rustici di yucca at Gondola, and American comfort fare at The Valley—along with 16 bars (four pool bars), two beach clubs and specialty venues like a wine cellar bar. The property’s Boulevard acts as a social hub with boutiques, bowling, a casino and an arcade, while three distinct resort areas—family-friendly main sections, an Adults Only Club with its own pool and La Perla bar, and the elevated Unique by Lopesan experience with exclusive pools and beach-club dining—let guests choose between lively, social atmospheres or peaceful, adults-only tranquility. Practical perks include included taxes and gratuities and a recommendation to reserve restaurants in advance due to popularity." - AFAR

A complete and extremely spacious hotel complex — dynamic, fun, and full of life! This place offers an impressive variety of entertainment, dining options, pools, and services. I visited with my entire family — all 18 of us — and we were all genuinely satisfied with the experience. The amenities exceeded our expectations, and the service was consistently excellent throughout our stay. A special thanks to Carolina, Wilkins, and Daisy — they were outstanding hosts and made us feel truly welcome. There were many other wonderful staff members whose names I can’t recall, but their efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you all, and please keep up that amazing energy! This definitely won’t be our last visit.

Definitely not a 5* hotel. Travelled with a group of about 74 people for a wedding and 1/2 the people got sick. In fact, one is in the hospital right now in Toronto, Canada. Maid service was terrible. No towels twice until 5-7 PM. Rooms not cleaned properly. Booked a 2 queen room and they lied and said no such request was made. Could not get it switched. The a la cartes were really good and the staff really tried to make it as enjoyable as possible. Top shelf liquers and the food was pretty good. The buffet was okay -- had lots of variety -- but the grilled chicken was not cooked properly (this happened twice). Bartenders were not the friendliest, however, staff at the buffet and a la cartes were very good. Would not return. Overpriced.

My stay at Lopesan Costa Bávaro in Punta Cana was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—every staff member was warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed and cared for. The variety of food was amazing, with endless delicious options for every taste. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The themed restaurants and buffets kept things exciting throughout the stay. There was never a dull moment—this resort offers something for everyone! From poolside activities and live shows to relaxing beach lounges and wellness options, it was impossible to be bored. Everything was so well organized and clean, and the resort itself is absolutely stunning with breathtaking views of the beach and lush tropical surroundings. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of relaxation, luxury, and fun, Lopesan is the place to be. I’m already planning my return!

I recently stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro, and overall, it was a good experience! The hotel itself is stunning — beautiful pools, lush landscaping, and a vibrant atmosphere that really made it feel like a tropical getaway. The rooms were modern and spacious, and we truly enjoyed relaxing by the beach. That said, there are definitely a few areas that could use some improvement. While the food was decent, it wasn’t as flavorful or varied as we expected from a resort of this size — and the service at some of the restaurants felt a bit slow and disorganized. Also, booking tours or making room-related requests had to be done in the lobby, which wasn’t convenient at all, especially during busy times. One thing that stood out in a not-so-great way was the cleanliness of the public restrooms in certain areas — they definitely needed more frequent attention. With just a little more attention to detail in service, food, and organization, this place could easily become a top-tier destination. Still, we had a nice time overall and appreciated the beautiful surroundings.

We have traveled many times to all inclusive resorts and never was this disappointed with Lopesan that had many good reviews.||Resort was pretty but food was only mediocre especially buffets. There was a variety but not good at all. Restaurant much better but extremely difficult to make a reservation.||Pool was pretty BUT NO SWIM up bar which made getting drinks extremely difficult. Only 2 waitresses walking around. Boring around the pool ,no pool volleyball at all. Not many food options around pool area only the small goldfish restaurant which was only better than big buffet. Rooms were just ok , definitely needed updates and showers open right up to front door, no privacy to get dressed with kids in room. Rooms always felt damp and floors wet but ac worked well.||Staff was nice but no one spoke English and was difficult to communicate with them. Check in was a nightmare, took 1/2 hour with no one on line. Then check in was at 3, didn’t get into my room until 5!! No apology or excuse. Would never go back to this resort

This was the best resort I have ever been to. The service is top tier. My butler Andres was exceptional. He replied to our messages in a timely fashion. Made sure our requests was completed right away. He would always check on us on a daily basis even without being prompted. Andres really went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one. Thank you so much! Highly recommend him!!

Do not waste your time booking adult only. This is a family resort. There were kids every where. There were children staying on the adult side because they overbook and allow children to stay on the adult only side. There were children on the adult only side of the buffet as well due to overbooking. The food was the worse food I've had a at any resort and made my whole group sick. If you are looking for an adult only romantic experience, this is not the resort for you because they have trouble separating the 2. There were cribs in the hallway and kids in the elevators. A woman literally rolled over my foot with a baby stroller as I was going to my room on the adult side. The only spot that stayed kid free was the one small adult only pool. Also don't waste money on massage services. We received better massages on the beach. This needs to be marketed as a family resort because at this price point I expected to get what I paid for.

Went here for a girls weekend getaway and I really enjoyed this resort! Pros: The resort itself is beautiful. The entry point, the lobby, the walkway to the pools and the beach are all selfie worthy. There are several restaurants to choose from (French cuisine, Asian, Tex Mex, American, and a European pub) with beautifully themed decor to match and the food at each one is DELICIOUS. There are also a mini outdoor pavilion attached to the resort containing a coffee shop, several bars, a theater for performances, a wine cellar, cigar lounge, game rooms, a bowling alley, and several shops to visit. We were blown away by the accommodations. You really don't have a reason to leave the resort unless you want to. Con: There were hardly any cons to be honest. We noticed that there was a gap of time where the food on the beach & the cafeterias closed and the restaurants opened for dinner. Room service wasn't as good as the other food. Also, the restaurants booked up so quickly, sometimes it took a day or two to catch a reservation. Lastly, we booked an excursion and the resort didn't allow the buses to come to the front entrance of the property so we had to walk up the hill or through the pavilion back into the resort. Not a huge deal, but inconvenient after a long, hot day. I would absolutely stay here again!
