Relax at World-Famous Beach at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort - AFAR

"Opened in 2019 on Bávaro Beach in Punta Cana, this five-star, all-inclusive resort pairs miles of prime coastline with a contemporary 'W'-shaped design framed by palm gardens and flowing water features to create a restorative, laid-back Caribbean escape. The beach is widely celebrated—warm turquoise water, fine white sand, mellow waves created by a distant sea shelf, and a constant breeze—and the property offers a more than 1,000-foot private beachfront with plentiful sunbeds. Amenities are extensive and varied: seven pools including a dramatic double-level, tiered infinity pool (about 31,000 sq ft), an Om Spa with therapeutic treatments, an onsite theater and discotheque, a waterpark called Splash Island, teen and kids clubs, a modern gym, and more than a million square feet of landscaped gardens. Dining spans nine restaurants and multiple casual outlets—highlights include buffet options (Caribe and Atlántico), pan-Asian teppanyaki at Inari, French fare such as chateaubriand with Roquefort ice cream at La Boheme, a Mexican seafood-focused dish (a Northern red snapper fillet with mussels in Poblano sauce) at El Charro, Mediterranean plates like free-range chicken skewers with yogurt-cucumber and couscous at Mareas, Italian dishes such as gnocchi rustici di yucca at Gondola, and American comfort fare at The Valley—along with 16 bars (four pool bars), two beach clubs and specialty venues like a wine cellar bar. The property’s Boulevard acts as a social hub with boutiques, bowling, a casino and an arcade, while three distinct resort areas—family-friendly main sections, an Adults Only Club with its own pool and La Perla bar, and the elevated Unique by Lopesan experience with exclusive pools and beach-club dining—let guests choose between lively, social atmospheres or peaceful, adults-only tranquility. Practical perks include included taxes and gratuities and a recommendation to reserve restaurants in advance due to popularity." - AFAR

Amazing service all around, with very attentive staff. The quality of the food is the best I've had in Punta Cana so far in my 3 trips to the area. The domican food is top notch, and the sancocho is to die for. Vibes are really good, theres a club, and theatre and alot of day time activities as well. There is also a 24/7 restaurant and bar as well for the night owls. Shout out to Jose Rivera for the incredible service at the buffet throughout my stay.

Great stay at Lopesan Punta Cana! The hotel is excellent with very clean rooms and a beautiful pool. The service around the pool was amazing, and there were plenty of fun activities throughout the day. The beach was also very nice — we enjoyed swimming and kayaking, which was conveniently provided by the hotel. The food was really good overall. The reservation-only restaurants were enjoyable, and the Atlántico buffet had a wide variety of options. As vegetarians, we were pleasantly surprised by how vegetarian- and vegan-friendly the resort is, with plenty of great choices available. A special mention to Chef Sandeep — his Indian dishes at dinner were absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this resort for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

We had a fantastic time at this resort. Amazing customer service, everyone is so friendly. The entertainment team is awesome! The employees at this resort work really hard to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible. The food was excellent, so much food everywhere! The drinks were also excellent. The property is beautiful and always kept pristine. There is so much to do on the property! We will definitely come back!!

We just visited for the second time and I can’t say enough how much I love this resort. Definitely worth it to have a “unique” room since you get a lot of extra perks, including private check-in , special bars and restaurants. Best service too! Wilkins is the absolute best in service! The resort has so much to offer We all miss him already!

Hey guys, I just want to say that the hotel and staff are amazing! We had such a great time with all of the entertainment staff especially Scooby daddy + Pokémon and the fellas. The bubble party was definitely a highlight. The food has been great and the service top notch. Definitely recommend. The only thing is the entertainment night shows are a little late for the young ones. Other than that it’s awesome. Lots of stuff going on during the day.

My stay started by being dissappointed with the room due to the check-in staff offered an up grade near a pool, However it was not a pool but a kiddie water play ground. However emmidiately I notified the supervisor Guerrero Rodriguez who offered to move us the next day but did not after claiming the room he had offered had mechanical room problems. I found myself dealing with a supervisor (Guerrero Rodriguez) who did not care about its customer. This meant I will not be enjoying my balcony at the hotel. It was loud as early as 7:00 am by children being excited to go to the water kiddie play ground. Some of the staff were nice and welcoming. Others were not attentive but looked tired and were not engaging. Do to the service and lack of attention to detail and my concerns I will give this hotel no more than a 3.0 rating. The hotel rooms are as the pictures online. It is a pretty and clean hotel. The rooms are extremely cold and you will not be able to regulate the air to your choosing. The food sellection for breakfast and lunch are pretty much buffet style which I dislike. The food was blended and did not taste well. You will have better choices for alacart dinner at several fine dinning at the premisses as listed below. One of my favorite spot was the Bavara Cafe for coffee & cookies. Restaurants we visited: Yolo Restaurant (Dominican food) EL Charro (Mexican) Inari (Assian) El Asador The valley La Boheme (French Cuisine-had dessert only here)

I had an amazing experience at this resort in the Dominican Republic. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. The property was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, with great attention to detail. The food was excellent with lots of variety, and the drinks were always on point. The beach and pool areas were relaxing and perfect for unwinding. Entertainment and activities were fun without being overwhelming. I want to give a special shoutout to JC extremely friendly, professional, and always willing to help. JC truly made the experience even better and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I would definitely come back and recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great vacation in the DR.

The hotel itself is very beautiful. It is very well take care of, the rooms are modern clean and spacious. Overall the staff are quite friendly, although it does appear that some are more friendly when there are tips. The music in the pool area is very loud. Can’t really stay there all day and also the choice of music is Caribbean music all day long. They need to have top 100 music. For this reason we stayed at the beach 99% of the time. On non-windy days there was not a problem with seaweed. When it was really windy, I would rate the seaweed being bad, a 7 out of 10, being the worst. They do try hard to keep it clean. They have a dedicated teen room that is only open for specific days not sure why it closes at 9 PM which is odd because many teenagers are expected to be able to stay out past 9pm and play things like pool ping-pong, etc. there is only one sports bar that has a pool table and that’s not enough for the entire hotel The restaurants à la carte I would rate them 8 out of 10 for what you expect at an all-inclusive hotel. The buffet I would rate a 9 out of 10. It’s vast large with many options. Receiving towels in your room, seem to be somewhat of a problem, either not enough towels or not in place during cleaning time sometimes it would they come back afterwards to place towels in your room. It’s expected you tip room cleaners when their shift ends for the week. We didn’t mind too. I think next time we go, we will try another resort at the cap cana location of the island just to see the differences. The waterpark is amazing… It’s new well built, lots of activities and water being thrown around… As a 40+ age father with three boys teenagers they all enjoyed it. We went there three times on our 10 day vacation. The good thing I thought about it was that it was placed far away from the beach, which meant that it wasn’t swarmed with kids all day long.
