My wife and I stayed at the Islander over the Christmas holidays. We were meeting Family for Christmas. Check in and parking was easy. Upon entering room am enormous hit in the face of a musty smell? I immediately opened all windows doors and glass sliders, to allow air to flow. I off loaded the car, brought a few food items to be refrigerated. upon opening the refrigerator it was off, of course it was turned down from the control switch inside. I turned the switch mid way, and loaded a few items inside. My Wife and myself decided to sit out on the balcony and sip a glass of wine and take in the view, it was cold but enjoyable since the room had an odor. After a short time I went back to check on the refrigerator and found that it did not work? So I went out to the car and hauled our ice chest up to the room, and off loaded the refrigerator. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to see if the refrigerator was plugged in the electrical socket, so I pulled the fridge out from underneath the counter, I found a GFI receptacle "open" so I reset it and the refrigerator was now working. We went for a walk to the reception desk to ask about a different room to find no one around (they had gone home) restaurant and bar was open. |Later we met with family to have dinner, we had reservations however person seating us said "doesn't matter" We sat in the dinning area and had a reasonable dinner, with great service. Next morning I started the shower to find out that there is no hot water?|I gave the shower opportunity to produce hot water and it never did? I checked faucets in kitchen and bathroom sinks. After my cold shower, I decided to find someone in maintenance, and of course it's Christmas and no one is around. and the resort does not open until afternoon. I went back to the room to have some breakfast, cup of yogurt, and no spoon, guest services left two knifes and two forks.|Wow what a poorly run facility, and the money I spent was not justified. Buyer beware!

We returned to the Lopez Islander Resort to celebrate our anniversary and as always, we were greeted by attentive and friendly staff! It is so relaxing sitting on the restaurant deck and taking in the beautiful view of Fisherman Bay and the marina. Love the delicious variety of menu options but the halibut, oyster shooters and chicken wings are three of my favorites. The Tiki bar is a wonderful place to meet interesting visitors and chat with friendly locals and engage in a game of pool or listen to great live music at night and kick up your heels. The Lopez Islander has become my husband’s and my special oasis in the San Juan Islands for true relaxation and heartfelt fun! Also, love all the beautiful flowers that surround the resort.

I’ve docked here several times over the past few years staying at the marina while exploring the San Juans. Great to have as an option - staff is nice and the bar is friendly - definitely more local vibes vs resort. One older gal at the front desk could lighten up a bit after a couple check ins this past year. Overall, enjoy all that Lopez has to offer!

Google
The Islander is a sanctuary for friends and families, from all over. Loaded with great entertainment, music & food, Be careful, the chicken wings are too good and so is the music and the pool table players as well. To be able to find relaxation in a unique part of our world is memorable.

Google
Lopez Islander never disappoints. The front desk is a bit disorganized, but I try to look past that because the location is amazing. The rooms are clean and well kept. The food is 5 star. I have been staying at Lopez Islander for 30 years, and I will continue to go there.

I have had the great experience to visit the San Juan island s for the first time from the east coast. I had the fortunate opportunity to find Lopez island and was incredibly impressed with the islander resort . The service was excellent, . Great place!!! Family oriented and more!!! ,

Google
A wonderful location with friendly staff, excellently appointed and updated rooms, comfy beds, great view, restaurant options, friendly islanders!! New carpet, woodwork, quartz countertop, mini fridge & coffee maker, nice toiletries too! Excellent!!

Google
Very nice accommodations and view!! The room was clean and quiet, recently renovated and comfortable. Great view of the bay on our second floor balcony. Only other comments would be the shower head is magnetic and fell off a few times so just be careful of that, and the TV lost Wi-Fi a couple times so we could not get the Olympics as much as we wanted but that's ok because it had not been an Olympic year we would not watched TV. We told the front desk and they were very prompt in sending someone up which was awesome, but then it went out later the next day so I believe the TV or Wi-Fi was having a bad day. Some guest was rude and had to smoke a cig and pot briefly, couldn't spot who it was so not able to speak with them. Have been here a couple years ago and will plan to return again soon!

Yelp
The girlfriend and I have loved jumping on Expedia and going to random places offering good deals. We haven't been to the San Juans since we were kids and Lopez Resort was having a great deal, so off we went! We loved it! I was looking to completely unplug and this was a terrific place to do it. Going from beginning to end. The entire trip up is part of the adventure. Part of the fun is getting there. If you get the chance, go up the scenic highway 101 through Deception Pass, Oak Island and Port Townsend for one of the most beautiful drives in the Northwest. Also you'll want to reserve all of your ferries ahead of time. I recommend scheduling your last ferry to Lopez around sunset to experience a beautiful romantic unique boat ride there. I'm going to tell you upfront, this Island isn't going to be for everyone. To say it's sparse and secluded here is an understatement. However, if you're a native Northwestern who grew up on our beautiful beaches or you want to unplug from the modern world, you will totally get this place. Checking in, the staff were very friendly and helpful. And what we really wanted was a nice place on the water that had it's own restaurant and bar. Lopez was perfect for that. The resort overlooks Fisherman's Bay which is an exceedingly gorgeous view of the surrounding waters and the beautiful boats going to and from the island. We stayed in one of the second floor suites of the motel portion of the resort which had a gorgeous spacious sunset balcony to drink in the beauty of the entire scene. We love our NW beach resorts and the natural beauty of Lopez is up there as the best in the Northwest. Our room was clean and huge with a perfect view of the bay! It was a very cool retro room. If you're a veteran of Ocean Shores hotels or any of the beautiful NW hotels up and down the coast, this will feel very familiar to you. Loved the firm bed and everything was very nice. Our room had a cool mini-kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave and some goodies. When you come out to Lopez, you have to come out with an open mind. There's not a lot here or a lot going on. If that's what you're looking for, it's a paradise. With the COVID going on, very little was open and what was a tiny secluded village in the off-season was even more scaled back than usual. However the attached restaurant/bar is very good. The menu is basic currently but was more than adequate for us with great burgers, chicken options and salads. This is a secluded Island and a resort, so the prices are going to be inflated a bit. The bar serves stiff drinks and is a favorite local haunt. The bartender could not have been better. But be cautious as it's easy to run up huge bills here... but that's part of the fun. Lopez is a trip. From what we experienced, it's basically a tiny village of maybe two dozen shops and the resort itself. There's not much else to it. We extremely enjoyed the secluded beaches and what little was open. The locals are unique and very friendly. If you're a native Northwestern or you're drawn to beautiful Ocean locations, this place is perfect for you. But come with an open mind and a positive spirit as it's a different world on Lopez. Our only real negative to say is leaving Lopez is a bit tricky with extended two hour waits for the ferry. They do have wifi and bathrooms but it is an exhausting wait, especially when you have hours of driving ahead of you to get home. But that's a small nitpick and I'm sure if we chose an earlier or later ferry, it wouldn't have been as bad. And this is a very small gripe for a fun vacation. All in all, Lopez Resort was exactly what we wanted. A secluded self-contained resort in one of the beautiful places in the world. We had a really nice vacation and will think fondly of Lopez and Lopez Resort!

Yelp
One star for the restaurant, it's fine and the house band is great. Another star for the location, it's right on the water and near Lopez Village. Other than that, this place has little going for it. No A/C in the rooms, the walls are paper thin (you'll hear your neighbors loading up their car at 6 am or drunk girls crying outside your door at 2 am), and the rooms are dirty. There were several stains of uknown origin on the carpet and the bathroom had more weird stains on the wall and a bathtub with a very uneven floor. At check-in, we asked for a couple of extra towels, but didn't get them. Checked the box that said we wanted housekeeping to come between noon and 3 pm, but they showed up at 11 am and then never came back when asked to return after noon. For more than 300 bucks a night, off-season, they should be better than this.

Yelp
Ever sat down at a place hungry and excited but then had to stop yourself from ordering more food after the apps were a big disappointment?! Welcome to Lopez Island Resort. We were prepared for exceptional prices on an island but expected also some exceptional seafood, but the only thing exceptional was how crappy this was. The clams were NOT FRESH, so much that 2 didn't open and yet were served anyway, and I had to spit another one out because it tasted decidedly BAD. I can't think of another time I've had such bad clams. The oyster shooters were a tad more palatable but I didn't care at all for the upsell: "a lot of people like a splash of vodka on these"... and it made me wonder if that was to mask the taste? Lemonade was watery and I was not offered a refill until after we had asked for the check. Setting is superb but stick to some nice wine and avoid the seafood.

Yelp
One of my favorite songs in the world is "Brandy" by the band Looking Glass. The song is about this super cool lady that works in a bar by the sea. In the song Brandy is a fine girl. Lopez Islander Resort has there own version of Brandy. The Brandi we met is the Restaurant manager and she made our stay extra special. We personally witnessed Brandi solve multiple problems for multiple people, multiple stations and multiple departments all while tending to her own job as the Restaurant Manager. An example of her superior customer centric approach was at about midnight we needed extra pillows and extra blankets for our kids. Nobody had a key to the housekeeping closet. Brandi assured me that she won't give up on helping the kids until they were more comfortable. She said "I will personally deliver the blankets and pillows to your kids room so go enjoy yourself". I trusted her. Brandi did exactly what she offered and everyone was more comfortable. Brandi's husband manages the opposite shift of the restaurant and it was obvious that he was an equally kind and diligent manager. I don't know how service at this little resort was before this "family arrived" but I can confidently tell you it is excellent now. The resort has a sweet Marina to tie your boat up to ( like we did), it has a very clean indoor pool, easy walk to the "small village" (shops / restaurants), kayak rentals, bike rentals. The rooms were quaint and clean. The General Manager of 28 years offered excellent hospitality too. Lattes available for purchase in the morning in their little store. Coffee in the room. Hairdryers too. Not a fancy resort but it is perfectly comfortable, it felt safe and it was in a wonderful location. Such an easy getaway from the big city. Thank you Lopez Islander Resort! We look forward to seeing you soon. Tell Brandi that Christine says hello!!

Yelp
I booked and paid for a room that accommodates 6 people, but when I got to the resort, the room has two full size beds and it barely fits 5 people. Two had to sleep on the floor. The microwave is not functioning appropriately so I burned a popcorn. There are no complimentary water bottles either.

Yelp
Saved! Jumped my car as an out of towner... Also, the bartender wasn't afraid to experiment with beverage flavors, the bread before dinner, the clam chowder, the halibut, fries AND even the slaw were 8-10 of 10. Very attentive service. Yay!

Yelp
First off I would like to state that I'm not a high-maintenance customer who likes to complain. I'm pretty easy. This review is almost solely on our waitress Lisa. Lopez Island is a tourist spot for cyclists, boaters, hikers etc... This bit of info should be recognized. We the tourists are a large part of the cash flow and should be treated as such instead of an inconvenience. My group of four (hikers) stopped our hiking short in order to catch the Seahawks game. Per the packed lounge of boaters, they were thinking the same thing. Go Hawks! Game day specials were being offered (pic attached) which was a nice surprise. I ordered qty two schooners of Islander Draft for $4 each. I was originally charged $5 and had to remind Lisa to adjust the price to the special. My wife ordered qty 2 Mac & Jacks for $5 each - not on special. I requested 3x for a pitcher of water for our table. After the 3rd time asking I was getting irritated so my wife went up and got it herself. For our meal my wife ordered the Islander Game Day Cheeseburger for $8.95: lettuce, tomato and pickles served with french fries. The burger had no tomato. Heavy onions (she hates) and special sauce. Very disappointing. I ordered the Game Day Nachos for $5: tortilla chips, cheese, green onions, diced tomatoes, olives, sour cream and salsa. The portion was huge and I was happy. My friend ordered the Fish Burger for $12 and requested instead of the fries the onion rings for an additional $2. Lisa instead charged her the onion ring appetizer price of $6. My friends brews were also charged more than the game day special prices. Not once did Lisa smile or make any attempt whatsoever to make us feel welcome. When I received my tab (after requesting adjustments) I wrote on the top of the receipt that perhaps Lisa should try to smile a bit. Rather than apologize or attempt at a smile Lisa provided me two excuses: I have a migraine and I've been up since 4am. You know what? I don't care about your excuses. I want and expect friendly service. A simple smile does go a long way. Sorry Islander, I will not be donating any more cash to this place on my next visit. I will be across the street at the Galley where we were made to feel welcome.

Margaret G.

Yelp
I'm only here for one beautiful night and couldn't get my tv to even turn on let alone change the channel. I asked across the street where I checked in at and was told the owners were eating dinner and would assist me shortly! NOTHING! It's 3 in the morning my tv don't work and I wanna go home!! I guess I'll watch a show on my own phone!

Yelp
We showed up at The Islander Resort with a reservation for the wrong dates. My husband is now fired from making travel reservations.. Alan at the front desk scrambled to help us out because they had so many rooms already rented. Between Alan and Sydney, they found us one room for the first night and then a duplex for the following nights. Sydney even stopped by after we moved to the duplex to make sure we got in okay. They really went above and beyond for us. Also, they have the best server in the world at the restaurant. Her name is Brandi and she is delightful!

Amy C.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I was a teenager. Excellent place to stay while on the island. I've stayed in the hotel, and also moored up with a boat. The staff are very friendly, great food, and fun! We were here last year on Nee Years Eve! Great time with family and friends catching up and ringing in the New Year.

Tiana E.

Yelp
Such a cute little resort! Has a nice pool, nice grounds with lots of options for staying there. Rooms aren't anything fancy but they are very clean and the beds were super comfy. They had a great view of the bay! Has a restaurant with great views too and live music on the weekends. They also offer a shuttle service to take you around the island if needed. A cute little village nearby with a farmers marker and a winery nearby. Staff was very friendly! We had a very relaxing weekend and I'd definitely stay again!

Laura A.

Yelp
Probably the best place to vacation with the whole family. Enjoyed scenic views and fun in the sun with our toddler and his grandparents for a memorable summer vacation. Service is friendly and accommodations were comfortable and laid back. Bike rentals are right across the street and they will even arrange ferry pickup and drop off for you at the front desk. We will be back!

Sylvia S.

Yelp
The view is great but not much qualifies above barely average. The hotel staff seems to exhibit "we don't care, we don't have to" attitude and exhibits no urgency to respond to guest and just ignores without response reports of problems. The room was very musty requiring constant airing even over a multi-day stay. When reported there was no response or concern. There was blood splattered on the bathroom walls. The shower was on the cool side of luke-warm. When waiting for checking which was taking several hours to process, a request for a glass of water was met with "not unless you are eating here but there is a water fountain." Fortunately the bartender was nicer than the waiter. There is no cell service and Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms, only in the office area. So enjoy the view because the rest is old, literally musty and served with indifference.

Chad W.

Yelp
Terrible Services! Paid Good Money for low quality service!! Other Guest were rude! Dogs in the swimming pool and killing wild rabbit's in front of children! The food services were extremely poor n over priced along with the water down Alcohol! For the monies paid is was definitely NOT WORTH IT!!

Mary A.

Yelp
The 1 star is strictly for location. Lovely view of the marina. Lopez is know as "the Friendly Isle" but this place does not live up! Our first clue should have been when we asked the waitress what was good on the menu and her response was, "I'm not really fond of the food here." We should have listened and made a dash for the door. Second clue: Friday night, only a few patrons in the restaurant (actually only in the bar). We ordered the fish and chips. The fish was rubbery and tasted like it had come from a long stay in the freezer and was far from being fresh. YUK! We would have been better off getting a box of frozen fish sticks from the local grocery store. The fries and diet cokes were the only redeaming feature to the meal, and that isn't saying much. Once our meal was served, we never saw the waitress again. No drink refills or stopping to see how our meals were. When she brought us the check, she didn't ask how our meals were, just dropped off the bill and disappeared. We are regulars to island and will not set foot in this place again! We only decided to eat here because the other local spots had long wait.

Adrienne H.

Yelp
The Islander is one of the best places to stay and to eat on Lopez Island...the rooms are nice - very simple, but very clean, with an unbeatable view of the Marina. The lodging is within walking distance to the restaurant. There you will find very fresh seafood, wonderfully fresh salads and fantastic cocktails, along with some of the most friendly folks you'll ever meet! My father grew up on the Island and much of my family still lives there, when we go back to visit though, we go to stay at the Islander. I was there this past weekend 1/13-1/15 and I will be posting some pictures from our stay very soon! Be sure to wave at folks as you pass them, it is an old Lopez tradition that is still carried on to this day. People say that Lopez is a bike rider's dream, so be careful of bicyclists on the roads. When you visit Lopez be sure to check out Shark Reef Point, and if you are into wines, be sure to stop in and have a taste at the Lopez Island Winery. There is plenty more to do on Lopez. Detailed maps of the Island can be found in the office of the Islander, free of charge. Things are easy to find - as the island is only 17 miles long by about 5 miles wide.

Yelp
The owner (Bill) has put together an excellent staff from Kathy, the manager, to the bar, wait people and kitchen staff. We attended the New Years Eve celebration with 25+ fellow yacht clubbers from LaConner which started out as 2 of us couples in 2006 and has developed to the group we've assembled simply by word of mouth amongst us. Service by all waiting on us was exceptional...attentive, friendly and professional. In all the years we've attended, this was by far the best collection of wait staff we've experienced. Hats off to Bill and Kathy for their efforts in gathering such a great group of wait persons and kitchen staff. The selection of food presented was positively reviewed by any I questioned. We look forward to continuing our ongoing tradition of a Lopez Islander New Years Eve by boat for years to come. Special thanks to Scott, Brandy, Katrina, Jeff and Jacky.

Adam B.

Yelp
The resort is fine, rooms and facilities are standard for a motel type accommodations. WiFi only available in the office/restaurant area and not in the rooms unfortunately. Nice that there is a dock with lots of slips for boats

Peggy M.

Yelp
On August 6-7 my husband and I were staying for 2 nights in Lopez Island Marina. We had guests on our boat, family mind you, and they were scheduled to take the Lopez Island Ferry Friday, the morning of the 7th. We decided it would be nice to have breakfast at the resort before they left. We walked up to the restaurant and waited for someone to seat us. We waited and waited, approx 5 min. before we were ever acknowledged. Scott, the acting maitre d'/host finally asked if we would like to be seated and how many in our party. We said 4 and he replied that only two people could be seated together and he would have to get us two separate tables. We were amazed since everywhere else we had been had no problem seating up to five people. We are all in the same family! He said it didn't matter and started to cop an attitude with us. We said we still would like to have breakfast and may we be seated. As he was showing the way to our table he said, "Are you going to take that attitude over to this table too?" Obviously shocked we said forget it! At the time there were 2 other couples that had encounters with him and overheard our conversation with him. They were cancelling their reservations because of his bad behavior! They had family on the island they were visiting and he had the gall to ask them if their visit was ESSENTIAL!!!!!! Amazing! Needles to say we will never go back to that restaurant while Scott is still there. What's this world coming to! Peggy M.

Yelp
Very friendly place. We stayed at the marina and ate a couple times at the restaurant. It is a very nice setting with a hard working staff with a great attitude. The flowers and garden at the entrance give a happy vibe that makes your stay pleasant.

Cindi L.

Yelp
Just had a superb Asian Chicken Salad: warm tasty chicken pieces, excellent dressing on lettuce, cabbage, crispy noodle pieces, mandarin oranges, and dried cranberries. All enjoyed on the deck overlooking the marina. Perfect lunch!

Ron G.

Yelp
Naming this place a "resort" is sort of like naming your child "Angel" and then being surprised when she ends up a hooker. Even by PNW standards; this is not a resort! The "resort" comprises of a cheap building with rooms and a pool on the dry side of the street and the restaurant on the water side. The building itself is pretty nice with big exposed beams and a great view of the bay but the service, quality of food and value were terrible. There was just one server, and it could be he was also doing the cooking. Much better choice would be to go just down the street to The Galley.

Nadine W.

Yelp
The first time we came to this marina/resort was during the August long weekend (long weekend for us Canadians anyway). Small glitch after we arrived on our boat and was assign a slip in the marina: the resort office couldn't find our reservation, even though the dock master seemed to have it. No big deal, they had room so we paid and that was that. We were looking forward to checking this place out, seeing as it was one of only two marinas in Fisherman Bay, and within walking distance of Lopez Village. Out of the two marinas, this was the only one with amenities. It has a pool! And a hot tub! Well, we took one look at the pool (teeming with children), and the hot tub (over-chlorinated, and also teeming with slightly older children), and decided against going in. Despite the disappointment with the amenities, we were quite happy with the restaurant, which seems to have improved since the previous Yelp reviews were posted. Service was quick and friendly, food came fast and hot. It wasn't fancy, but it was satisfying. That was our first stay. The second time we came back to this resort was Labour Day weekend, a busy weekend to be sure. Which is why we called a week in advance to make a reservation for a slip in the marina. The dock master, or whoever answered the phone, took the reservation. Imagine our surprise when we arrived, and they said not only did they not have a reservation for us, the marina was fully booked! The staff in the resort office were not gracious about their mistake and didn't offer to make amends in any way. Fortunately, the marina next door had a cancellation and they were able to fit us in, otherwise we were looking at a ruined long weekend trip. Talking to some of the staff at both marinas, it became clear that this was not an unusual occurrence, that this resort has flubbed reservations and double-booked guests before. If we ever decide to come back, we will make sure we have written confirmation and make a follow up phone call first.

Yelp
My husband and I spent a weekend at the islander with our 1 year old. We had so much fun, as there were so many activities to enjoy! We spent one day exploring the island with great recommendations from the staff, then came back to the resort for an outstanding meal with a view. The second day we spent time at the pool and rented bikes. Clams were the best we've had in a long time and the salmon Caesar was delicious! Happy hour prices were unmatched and staff was very accommodating and offered a kid's menu so that we could continue to enjoy the setting and drinks in peace. We've already booked our next stay in one of the houses on the property! The islander is island living at its best!

Stephen V.

Yelp
This is a 1 or 2 star stay for a 5 star price. My room had hair in the dressers, spiders in the bathroom specifically inside the shower/bath, and there was an old coffee filter left in the coffee machine. The WiFi was nonexistent in the room I stayed in and service didn't reach to me. Now maybe they had tech problems and a lack of staff shortly before I stayed there so who am I to judge I just feel that it's better worth your money to rent out a house near the beach if you are able.

Sharon B.

Yelp
I've been biking the San Juan Islands for many years and a few years ago decided to do bike camping. I found the lawn space, large trees and facilities plus location of the Islander to be the perfect resting place. The staff are so warm! The food is great and the location is right on a dock with tiny dockside grocery store. There's a restaurant and bar at the Islander. At 8pm I checked weather and saw sun and clouds. An hour after going to bed a rain storm blew in. My Big Agnes 1lb $600 brand new tent didn't hold up even though I was under a tree. Within an hour I Water was soaking through. Panicked I ran in around 10pm to the lobby. Owner Tom said they were 100% booked but there was a worker cabin open. Elated I moved all my wet gear inside. He was kind enough to offer to help. The next morning I'm 50% dried out and allowed to stay in the cabin one more night so I can explore Lopez Island worry free. I'll never go to any other accommodation on Lopez again!! Tom you saved me! Thank you! Sharon Portland OR

Yelp
We rented one of the Canoe rooms. The room had a bad smell and the bathroom was filthy, including the sink and toilet. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned in awhile. When I complained I was told we were "stay overs" and couldn't expect maid service. Just clean towels and bed made. On the day before we left, we observed an employee using her scientific method (her words) to inspect two newly vacated rooms. She looked in the windows and announced they were ready. It was then that I understood why our room was a mess. For the most part, the staff was friendly. Not a place, however I'd ever stay again.

Toni H.

Yelp
The view of the bay is superb. The service was good- friendly waitress- meal delivered timely. That's where it went down hill.. There was mold on the tomatoes in my salad and a tiny weevil on the lettuce. Needless to say I didn't eat it- didn't want it replaced .. The Shrimp Fettuccine was barely warm, the onion and bell peppers were cold and raw- not sautéed. I didn't finish more that a few bites. We were given half off for my meal. My husband had the steak salad and said it was good, but not great. About an hour after I got home I spent the rest of the night being quite ill and still feel I'll this morning. We will not go back.

Wanji E.

Yelp
Second visit here and loved it even more. A friend and I stayed here for a long holiday 3 day weekend. Scenic water views from our balcony, easy access to the rest of the island superb for cycling. Wished we had brought our bikes. The front desk and staff were super friendly and helpful, even provided us a free ride from the ferry terminal. Happy hour prices made it festive, the fish on the menu is delicoius and the lounge had a fun band playing cover hits on the friday night. Definitely a warm and inviting environment to be in. I got to use the gym both mornings which was great and soaked in the hot tub, clean and modern ammenities. Comfy rooms with cozy beds. Large open lawn field that we enjoyed playing some frisbee on with a stocked firepit that was relaxing after sunset, perfect getaway with a group of friends, family or a date. Convinient marina ideal for boating inn or out of to explore surrounding Islands. We shall be back!

Kathy O.

Yelp
We just got back from staying 4 days at the resort. My husband and I visit at least once a year. We stayed in one of the "cottages" which was clean and and had a great view of the marina/docks. We had a nice flat screen tv with cable, wifi, refrigerator, and microwave. The restaurant was clean, the service was good and the meals were good, especially the fish and chips. The restaurant is not cheap, but it is an island where a lot of goods are brought over by ferry. As far as the rabbits are concerned, the European rabbit was introduced to the San Juan Islands in the late 1800's. The rabbits, just as "island time", is part of the experience there. The islanders are friendly. You have to leave the big city attitudes (land, water AND road) on the mainland, chill out, and enjoy what the island has to offer!

Yelp
We recently stayed in the off season for a quick overnight girls getaway. The good: Gorgeous view and nice, helpful staff. The rooms were clean and well stocked with essentials. The tv was nice and newer and cable worked fine. The bad: No wifi available (it was advertised as available). The property is overrun with wild rabbits. The lawn areas are so filthy with rabbit poop that I can't imagine how they allow that to continue. Every inch is covered with pellets. In the summer if you wanted to spend more time outside this would be awful. The rooms are seriously outdated. They are just drab. They need an overhaul big time. We were initially checked in to a room that is out of service by accident. They do not have a modern reservation system so if housekeeping isn't around, they just don't know what the status is on rooms. Lack of communication or a new employee in training I suppose. It's unfortunate that the place seems so run down. The location is spectacular. We did not use the pool or other facilities so I can't comment on the condition of those amenities. Overall, due to the rabbit problem and no wifi, I wouldn't stay there gain. I hope someday the place is renovated and becomes the great family resort that it could and should be.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and view. Ok food for the island. Great for watching a sporting event, lunch or a cappuccino, while watching the boats and seaplanes. Would recommend as a must stop. Free wifi too.

Yelp
We ordered the happy hour cheeseburger! It was super tasty! Loved the view! Will be back sometime:)

Yelp
After a great day of hiking around Lopez on a warm sunny day, we decided to stop in for some frosty beverages on our way back, and boy what a disaster. After ordering drinks and some coconut shrimp, we waited....and waited, and waited, keeping in mind there were only 2 other tables with people there. Finally after only one of two drinks ordered arrived, we received beer batter shrimp instead of coconut shrimp. On my way inside to check the ferry schedule I noticed my wife's drink just sitting on the bar, so I served it to her myself as the waiter was still pondering the computer cash register after 20 minutes had passed. After we both finished our drinks, we realized the coconut shrimp were not coming at all, so we walked into the bar to try and settle up and the waiter was once again bent over the computer trying to figure it out. No acknowledgement at all even after the bartender, who struggled to give change for an $11.35 tab with a $20.00 bill, oddly asked him if this was his tab. He was the only server, of course it was his tab! Others sat idle, either waiting for drinks or food, while this waiter roamed around aimlessly not paying a stitch of attention to their calls for service. Absolutely amazing that they can continue to operate with service like this. Sadly this is a million dollar view restaurant and bar, with .50 cent service. Don't waste your time, find anything else, anything.

Yelp
Good music and food. It's located along Fisherman Bay, and there's a marina where you can dock your boat for your stay. I recommend the prime rib sliders during happy hour. So delicious!

Yelp
this was to be the resort reserved by the wedding couple for my daughter's wedding on Lopez Island. when we got there, they had no record of my room, despite the fact that i had confirmed by last name and room description less than a week earlier. we were not the only ones double booked -- the best man was forced to move out of his reserved-months-ago room the second night and upgrade at his own expense to a larger room because they double booked his room on night two. the restaurant is mediocre at best, the rooms are old, there is no internet connection despite the promise of one (it apparently exists only in the hotel lobby across the street), and there wasn't a single "i'm sorry" for any of the double booked rooms. we will never be back here, and will caution anyone considering it to stay away.

Yelp
Wow. This place was interesting to say the least. My boyfriend and I stayed here this last weekend to attend a family wedding on the island. Now I know we should have paid the extra $100 to stay at the Eden Wild Bed and Breakfast. The Lopez Island "resort" was nothing like the photos. First off, WiFi was not available (though the website stated otherwise), the rooms were very basic and smelled strongly of cleaning products, and everything is extremely outdated. If this place got a "face lift" perhaps I'd come back.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel one night in August. The service is horrible. The people that work there seemed totally put out by having to check us in or answer any questions. The rate we were told on the phone was lower than the actual rate we ended up paying. I explained I was quoted a different rate over the phone and they were not willing to honor it so make sure you get your rate in writing when making the reservation. The room we had came with a microwave and fridge. Neither worked. Unfortunately we didn't disover this until 9pm when we were making dinner. I asked for a discount when we checked out and they would not give us one. They said we should have called and asked them to fix it. The room was simple but clean. Expensive for the quality!! We did not eat at the restaurant but friends did and did not recommend it. Bar was OK for drinks.

Yelp
This is such a beautiful location. What makes this place so wonderful is exceptional customer service. Every person on staff was A+. We had such a fun time. Clean rooms with amazing views, great food.

Yelp
The place has a wonderful view but it's all downhill after that. Service is slow and poor. Food is mediocre at best and very small portions. Some of it (calamari)is just downright awful. We have gone in many times hoping our experience was just an anomaly; but it isn't. It's just really poor for food and service. It's a shame with a view and location like that that is just squandered. Not worth going to.

Yelp
If I ever need a place to stay on Lopez it won't be here. At $208 a night I'd rather spend a little bit more at one of the many bed and breakfasts on the island. We had issues with our reservations from the get-go when we started trying to reserve our room months ago. As it was we had to move to a different room on the 2nd night. No wifi in the rooms and the wifi down at the restaurant had been down since a power outage that happened days ago. The rooms were dated and drab looking. The soda machines either were out of stole our money. The pool was ok but the hot tub started foaming like crazy when we turned the jets on. All the inflatable pool toys had holes in them. But it was the service in the restaurants that really got my goat. We had breakfast and drinks for happy hour. It took 15 minutes both times for someone to even acknowledge we were standing there waiting to be seated. Drinks and food took 40 minutes to arrive. Both tasted great but we were so irritated it was hard to enjoy. The breakfast experience was, once again, tedious. 20 minutes for a table even though there was no one eating on the back deck. Servers walking past us and not even making eye contact. Pancakes only came with 2 slices of bacon. Breakfasts seemed to be lacking creativity for an island-based menu. Overall I guess I just wasn't impressed. I saved up to be able to stay here for my cousin's wedding. For $416 dollars for a long weekend I was anticipating a high end experience, good food, awesome service, clean and updated rooms and functioning equipment. Now I feel like I'm $416 poorer with nothing to show for it.

Yelp
This place is fantastic - My wife, son and I stayed in the hotel last weekend and had a wonderful stay. Our room had a great view of the marina and I was able to take lots of photos. We had a nice enjoyable meal out on our deck and the room was well stocked with helpful amenities. It was very easy to get in and out of with easy parking and a fast check in process. I thought the staff was very nice. We ate a few meals at the islander restaurant too. I had the halibut and loved every bite. The staff was nice too. My waiter Scott even informed us of a kids play area just next to the main restaurant and it was well stocked with games for my 3 year old to enjoy. He had a great time running back and forth to check on us while we took a nice long time with our plates. Scott gave us great service! We've been going here every year and look forward to going again next year. This review is long overdue.

Yelp
We stayed on what they called the RV park. There were really no designated spaces and RVs had to fight for or share water and/or electrical hook ups. The spaces were dirty with woodsy debris that could have been cleaned up with a rake. The showers were in the pool area that required a code to enter. Once I got in I realized there was a need for $2 worth of quarters to use the shower for six minutes. I think the only time people come here is in desperation when the state and county campgrounds are full.

Yelp
We stayed 2 nights in the marina (can't vouch for rooms) and must pass along a huge thanks to Allen (the dock master). This guy is made for this job, always on the go making sure everything is running smoothly. We had a couple of special needs requests and he was there within minutes with a smile and a laugh every time. The staff at the resort were also helpful - they had a shuttle that took us to a nearby grocery store for provisions and were happy to answer any questions we had. Shower facilities were clean and easy, nice after a few days of boating.

Yelp
Checked in and the front desk girl Julie was very unkind and unhelpful. Have never had a employee be so rude she hung up on us also once we got to our room and we asked about room service. she said ,"uh no" and hung up. I've been coming here since I was little and have not revisited it for a couple years, I'm very unhappy with my the customer service here. Pool had a drunk guy yelling to the water about court that was very inappropriate around the kids. Not a place I would bring a family and will not be coming back.

Yelp
Spent two nights in suites 7 and 8 with my sailing team--we had a regatta out in fisherman's bay and walked across the street to the docks in the morning when we were ready to sail. The rooms were clean and well stocked and the location is perfect for exploring the rest of the island in any direction. A great place to soak up the tranquil beauty of Lopez.

Yelp
We come back here every year. It is clean, comfortable, room is well appointed and have great views of Fisherman's bay. The staff at the Islander are sincerely friendly.

Craig R.

Yelp
Probably the only standard type hotel on the island, the Islander is nothing fancy but it's efficient. The facilities could use some upgrading, but the grounds were kept up and my room was clean. Families will like it as the rooms are big and the grounds are inviting and the water is nearby. Close enough to the village to bike and close to Fisherman's Bay. I stayed during the winter and it was very quiet, although I can imagine that when this place fills with families and folks from the marina, the noise level probably goes up. Nice central location on the island. Management very pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
The price of these rooms is based on supply and demand, not quality. The only other lodging option on Lopez is B and Bs which i would have done had they had rooms. Room was spacious, but old. Try the B and Bs first.
