10/10 experience! We stayed here for our mini honeymoon immediately after our reception and it was a real treat. They score bonus points for being dog friendly and super close location wise to all the shops, restaurants, and bars

Lora is a beautiful hotel with a lot of character and historic charm. Located walking distance to downtown Stillwater, location can't be beat. Staff and rooms are great, cute, & very clean.

The hotel is a very nice rebab of some old buildings at the end of the Main Street. The location is excellent. Our room was very clean and comfortable except for the chairs at the end of the bed used for watching TV--those chairs became uncomfortable pretty quickly. The coffee shop was great. We didn't try the restaurant. We did use the valet hotel parking but I think you can find a city lot within three or four blocks that would be cheaper. The staff were friendly but perhaps not as polished as the staffs at other boutique hotels I have stayed at.

Will not return or recommend to anyone. |Our two dogs were traveling with us, from what I understand they were to be greeted with a bed, dish & treat, that didn’t happen. |Didn’t receive breakfast that was to come with our stay. |We asked for a bellman to load our things into our vehicle & he rolled the cart to our vehicle and stared at us, we gave him a tip & loaded it ourselves.

I adore this hotel! I've stayed there multiple times while visiting family in the area. In the summer and in the winter it is great. Beautiful, peaceful, great location. I highly recommend it. The lack of closets is a bit weird. But this hotel is not alone in embracing that trend. I've stayed in multiple different rooms and the ones with river views are better, but they are all good.

To say this hotel is pet friendly Is just not enough. They are amazing. We arrived and there were food and water dishes, treats, a dog bed, and cute little tags for the dogs collars w the hotel address in case anyone got lost during our stay. This type of detail made my day! There was a happy anniversary note for my husband and me along w two yummy truffles. A perfect snack before we took the 5 mile loop walk. The room was fabulous. We got exactly what we asked for and more. We had family photos taking place inside and outside hotel and the manager was amazing. She listened to what I was looking for and showed me great spots for the pictures. The front desk staff was already briefing our photographer on the location when we arrived in the lobby. We had dinner and breakfast In The attached restaurant- and all was fantastic. I have nothing but positive notes for our entire stay. I highly recommend the Lora and especially if you are traveling with your fur kids! Special shout out thanks to Lauren for helping us start to finish and making our trip special.

I got married in Stillwater in early January. We had our cocktail hour and dinner in the restaurant below (20 guests). They have a cute private dining room that fit our group perfectly. Lora did everything to make my wedding a perfect day. The pastry chef created an amazing cake for us that really was a work of art. The whole staff was accommodating and approachable. We would highly recommend this venue if you wanted to have a small wedding. Rooms were so cute and the beds were easily the most comfortable. I was able to sleep the night before my wedding. Everything about our stay made us feel like we were at home. Thanks so much Lora!

Lora Hotel has become our go to hotel when visiting Stillwater area. We really enjoy staying at Lora and find it quite beautiful. The artwork and the look of the 'built into rock' aesthetic is striking. The front desk staff is always pleasant, acknowledges and thanks us as previous guests. The rooms are modern and we love the shower! The space of the room is on the smaller size but really, how much room do you need when you are out touring the area or in the river the majority of time. Someone in a previous review said there wasn't anywhere to sit in the room but each time we have stayed at the hotel, there has always been two chairs at the end of the bed. We enjoy having a Nespresso machine in the room but there is a coffee shop attached to the hotel if you prefer. There is also a bar shelf in the room with several munchies and alcohol to purchase if you choose to do so. Most importantly is the bed and pillows. So comfortable! The bed and bathroom linens are very nice as well. There is a very nice restaurant/bar attached to the hotel which is very convenient. We've eaten there several times. Always delicious and great service. Stay at Lora if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed!

Charming and comfortable hotel in the heart of downtown Stillwater. But smaller sized room without a desk, couch, or any chair was tough. You will immediately fall in love with this very charming hotel with a coffee shop and borrowed restaurant attached in the little downtown of Stillwater! The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. My room was comfortable, and the bed was very good, and made for great sleeping! Very easy to valet your car here, it's a very unique little hotel, tucked away in this very fun town which is loaded with shopping, restaurants, bars, breweries, and distilleries in about three blocks or so. They'll just love this place! I had a few issues with the room, but comfort was not one of them. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very comfortable as well. I got a room on a fourth floor, and when I opened up my window on the fourth floor, I had a view of a parking lot and when I said I had a view of a parking lot, I mean there was a car park there and I could reach out the window and touch the license plate if I wanted too. I was surprised and I've never seen a car parked so close to a room before. But in fairness, I never heard the car once or anyone to get in the car and later I noticed the car had driven away. The furnishings in the room were lacking, probably because the rooms are very small here. But there was no desk and chair. I was traveling for business, so it's critical that I have a desk in my room. I realize a lot of people that come to this hotel are tourists, but even if I were a tourist, I like to have a desk and chair so that I could read materials, or sometimes I still have to open my computer and check emails. There was no such desk and chair in any of the rooms. I asked to be moved to a different one. But an even bigger concern was that there was no sort of chair or small couch. The only place to sit was a small bench at the foot of the bed that did not have any kind of Back support. Basically you could not sit in this room, except on the bed itself. Having back issues I really need a chair or couch to rest sometimes. When I sit up in a bed, I tend to slouch down, which isn't good for my lower back. Because of these reasons, I will not be coming back to this hotel, without either a desk and chair, or some sort of couch or lounge chair in the bedroom. Is this a good place to get a room if you're looking for a comfortable night sleep right in the charming downtown of Stillwater? Yes it is.

My review is of Feller attached to the Lora. Our stay the Lora was 5 Stars. I was debating on if I write a review because the service and food was delicious- 5 stars for sure. While we were sitting at the bar enjoying our drinks before our meal, we witnessed some unsettling behavior by the manager. The bartender was very sweet and was trying her best to make drinks for the bar and the restaurant side and it was effective, if not a tiny bit slow. She was a new bartender, she introduced herself as and so we were impressed when she answered all our questions and made excellent specialty cocktails. A man came behind the bar and began berating the bartender in front of us. He was loud, condescending, and rude, I could not believe how unprofessional he was and made us very uncomfortable. I have been in the industry for many years and have never witnessed treatment to an employee by the (we asked General) manager. If I was treated like that I would quit and we witnessed him being hostile to other employees. We asked the girl who dropped off the food who he was, and she said the GM. Employees should be treated with respect. I had to write a review so I could, with good conscience, return there! Again- Food- A+ and, Service A+ Management- F Hope this makes it to the right person because that is not going to help the places reputation and we love having them in Stillwater. Try the Potstickers, Trout Benedict, and the Gouda Burger!

I had a gift certificate from my daughters, restaurant would not honor it, even tho restaurant and hotel carry the same name

I had an opportunity to stay at this establishment and it is a nice lobby. They have a lot of white birch little LED lighted trees. Right in the lobby little short things and cute. We first got there we were served cocktails right at the check in desk that was so cool. Behind the check-in desk I found out later like the The next day is a tunnel that goes to the little coffee shop next door. When I say tunnel, it was a carved tunnel carved out of stone through a mountain and a little coffee shop is set in a mountain. At least the back part is. Very unique place. They had the outside fireplace Going to 24 seven at least the whole time we were there. When we were there It was very cold, so it was nice to have that little fire all the time if you're standing out there waiting for a cab or our Bus that was taking us everywhere. The room was excellent had a little rabbit door knocker on the door and a fireplace, three windows overlooking the street and the river. The room had everything you could want and everything that you would need stacked refrigerator, coffee ,snacks. the bathroom gorgeous. Now let's go downstairs and have breakfast. Unfortunately, staff doesn't get in till 8 o'clock very unusual for a hotel. But eventually we had breakfast and then we were on our way. If I'm ever back in that state, I think I'm definitely going to stay there again. Oh yeah almost forgot take a look at that photo of the 20 ounce steak. That was excellent. Oh yeah, I finish that shit.

Very good restaurant, modern open kitchen concept, loft design, very inventive menu. Fantastic unusual salads with lots of berries, delicious appetisers and tasty mains. Love it.

We needed a getaway after spending so much time at home during COVID. We saw that Lora had a special for a "Dine and Stay" for about $350 that included a night in a king suite and a 5 course meal with wine pairings delivered straight to your room. We jumped on the deal! Check-in was easy and quick, taking precautions for social distancing. The room itself was great sized, with lots of bright light and windows looking out onto Main Street. The bed was soft and cozy and the couch was a perfect place to lounge for the afternoon with a Nespresso machine available to use for a pick-me-up. The bathroom was the best part, I loved the fluffy robes and gigantic shower head was amazing. Unfortunately the towels were extremely small and low quality, but no biggie. The food was delivered to our room in stages and they had a little table set up for our dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine pairings were spot on. I'm gluten free, and even though the "dine and stay" special was a set meal, they made every accommodation to make sure I was able to eat freely. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful in this regard. Overall, the Lora was great. We will be back!

Overall a very weird experience, and certainly not worth the money. Stillwater used to be a favorite getaway for us, as we live in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis, so it's only about a half hour away. But now it's crowded and really pricey for accommodations. Seems to be THE place for bachelorette parties. As for Lora, it's an example of how pricey Stillwater has become. There's nothing in Stillwater that justifies a $400/night room that isn't a big penthouse suite. I'd gone through some hoops to get the room I wanted--the Fireplace Room--for my wife and my anniversary. The website said it wasn't available, as did the travel sites. There was a snowstorm coming, so I thought I'd call to see if whoever had reserved it might have canceled. The agent on the phone was the best part of the trip. She was very friendly and accommodating and reserved the room for us. Apparently, no one else had reserved it, so it was a mystery as to why it didn't appear available. When we arrived, walked in to find an odd assortment of people at the front desk and lobby, a young lady dressed professionally and another couple of guys in jeans and much less formal. We decide to use the valet service for a night, which they ended up charging us for two nights. There's a free parking lot across the street that the woman at the front desk mentioned in passing without any details, like that it was free. The Fireplace Suite itself was nice, but small for a suite. It is about the same size as a double room in most up-to-date average-priced hotels these days. It had floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, overlooking the main street. Unfortunately, that includes the entrance area to a restaurant next door where people would congregate (It has a firepit) to smoke or get away from the music, which meant loud conversations well into the night. The gas fireplace was a nice benefit on a cold night. What was strange was that there was a firewood rack on the wall that held logs that appeared ready to be fed into a fireplace, although the fireplace was gas, so they clearly were for decoration. Unfortunately, people had carved their initials into the ends of the wood, which I suppose some people thought was cute, but it made for essentially a graffiti-look to the wall--not great for a $400/night room. The bed was pretty comfortable, as were the shower and the bathroom. Nicely fragrant soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and hand cream. The robes they provided were a nice touch but too small. I'm an average-sized guy, and they were sized for a medium-sized woman. Too bad. I always enjoy hotel bathrobes. The drapes for the windows were nicely blackout, but they did now seal on the edges, so the light pours in next to the walls in the morning. The phone was weird as well. It was an old system that didn't correspond to the new phone system, so when you pressed "Front Desk," nothing happened. What was worse is that we couldn't answer the phone when it rang several times. We tried pushing all the buttons and the handset holder, but there was no way to answer, which was unfortunate because someone called our room several times. The hotel has retained a lot of the original structure, so there is a lot of bare rock and support beams throughout, which was really enjoyable and gave the property a lot of character. We like to use stairs instead of elevators when we can, and the stairwell revealed a lot of the original structure. Really enjoyed that, until we reached the main floor, when there was furniture, boxes and bikes parked. Kinda cluttered, but not a big deal. Just, again, weird. The restaurant and bar attached to the hotel are very nice with good food. In short, I'd never stay here again primarily because of the cost. We certainly didn't feel like we were staying in a luxury hotel.

Ok, so to tee this convo up, I worked in the the airline industry for over a decade in a job in which encountering assholey behavior was a daily expectation, but in all of my years of ducking thrown phone books (remember those?) and punches I can honestly say that I've never met anyone as enormously douchey as the dude answering the phone this evening (6/8). When quoted a completely ridiculous room rate, I responded "are you serious?" To which Prince Douche responded "Yes I am. Goodbye." Lora management, this is who you want on your front line? Fortunately the Crosby is right down the street. Guess what happened when I called them: They were polite, and thankful for the call. Go figure...

Upon arriving at our room, my wife went to freshen up and we discovered that the face towel was covered in someone else hair, and that both drinking classes were filthy. With one have what looked to to be tooth paste on the inside. Upon trying to call the front desk we discovered the phone did not work, so I went to notify them in person. They did send someone up to replace all the towels, but that individuals simply hand me a bunch of towels and went to walk away. I had had to ask her to wait wile we gave he the other towels. I informed the front desk that this experience was not something I would expect for a room costing 600 per night, and they said they would make note of it to the supervisor. We never heard anything again, customer service would dictate that they follow up with us to ensure everything else was going smoothly, and provide an apology. We have stayed there before and loved it, but again for the rate my expectations for service and perfection is much higher as it should be.

If I could rate this a 0/5 I would. DO NOT stay here! Here's why: we booked the most expensive room in the hotel for our anniversary and decided to bring our dog as they advertise themselves as a 'dog friendly hotel'. They ARE NOT that hotel. Our dog barked while we were at dinner and they threatened to call animal control. This was apparently all based on one couple staying next to us that could hear a dog bark (in a dog hotel). So the hotel threatened to take our dog away, after barking. Dogs bark & this was supposedly a dog hotel so not sure where the problem came from but the amount of attitude we received from the hotel staff was out of control. It was so bad we elected to leave and not even stay. We also had other issues as well. Lack of service all around: we sat down in the bar, there were two bartenders, no customers and waited over 20 minutes for an acknowledgment. Then our friends came to meet us and the whole thing was repeated, with an empty bar still. Honestly, my best advice is GO ELSEWHERE !!! If you like being treated like crap or want your dog taken away from you then this is your place.

Really enjoyed this little hidden gem. Great service, beautiful rooms. Restaurant menu is amazing and unique. Great service as well. Can't wait to go back!

Cute small hotel with a friendly staff. Stayed once for a summer wedding weekend and again for new year's. Only down side is the very limited parking options with a $30 per night valet fee being the only alternative.

A very interesting hotel indeed. Located next to the caves in Stillwater they have done some great things with the space. Our hotel room was very nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was big and lots of water from the oversized head They have a nice coffee shop you can get to through the caves if you don't want to venture outside. Nice coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The bar is impressive and as a good place to wind down after our event. We did not try the restaurant as there is so many to try in Stillwater. Valet parking was a little steep at $30. Elevator was out when we arrived so they comped the valet. Nice location

Stayed two nights for a babymoon. I admit I was taken in by the pre-opening hype. I really thought this would be a four-star hotel. My wife and I were super excited to go (8/2018). But they are short on service and amenities, and when I brought this to the manager's attention he explained they were decreasing their prices in the future. Well, that makes me feel like a schmuck for paying over retail! 'Twas a spendy lesson... I may or may not go back. The nickel-and-diming was trying. Paid $160 for a $110 bottle of wine, and I don't think the valet parking was fairly priced. Plus, there was that annoying we're-doing-you-a-favor attitude to service. It's a cute place with great food and comfy beds. But I've had better housekeeping at a Marriott in Fresno, better service attitude at a Buffalo Wild Wings, and paid less to stay at the Beverly Hilton. Hope they get their ish together. It's a great property and a killer menu (even if they don't know the difference between rare and medium rare), but they're not going to succeed once the novelty wears off unless everyone on staff goes to hospitality school, the room prices are halved, and they start being able to do things like, um, take a reservation over the phone, accept a room charge, amd remove dirty glasses from a room. Oh, and the art should be better than a dismembered hand next to a kitchy fawn. Thing is, I want this place to succeed. I need a fun weekend getaway, and I love what they did with the building and want to reward innovation, particularly in my adopted home state of Minnesota. But if they're trying to bring in six-figure couples from the cities, they have to understand we've stayed at a hotel or two before. I'd invite the management to try Fitger's in Duluth or the Rusty Parrot in Jackson, Wyoming to see what people expect from a $400-per-night place in a small city.

We stayed one night for our anniversary and were put in the Empire Suite. It was absolutely amazing. A long rock covered entryway, a huge living room area overlooking Main St, a beautiful bedroom and bathroom with a massive tub and an outside patio area covered with rock and moss. The bed was very comfortable as were the couches and chairs in the sitting area. I wish we would have stayed longer, it is a lovely hotel and the staff was very friendly. Walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and bars

My husband and I had a fabulous COVID-19 Saturday at Lora yesterday. The new wine shop in the cave was a gem and sold us a fabulous Chardonnay - for a great price and with wonderful customer service. Good, live music and drinks on the patio made it feel like we weren't living in a pandemic. Thanks for the escape, Lora!

We had our wedding here and then stayed two nights in the hotel after. We were told we could charge the wedding expense to the room so it could be one total bill. On the morning of our checkout at around 9am (checkout is 11)I got woken up to one of the front desk workers and two police officers knocking on the door. The woman (short, brunette, late 30s, rude temperament) told me that I needed to pay my bill because it was over a thousand dollars. I told her that we were told we would pay upon checkout. I had actually called a week in advance to clarify this. And she told me that because my bill was so high (over a thousand) and that because a thousand dollars is a lot of money I needed to pay right then, she actually kept mentioning that a thousand dollars is a lot and a liability which is insane. So I was then accompanied by this woman and two police officers to the front desk. Where she told me my card that she had been attempting to debit the day before wouldn't go through for more than $600 or so dollars. Unless she's brand new at her job or just incompetent she would have known and come across card daily limits before. Especially at a hotel where the rooms are over $240 a night. Mind you I asked her why if payment was an issue why I wasn't contacted before the police were at my door and she told me she had called our room the day before and my cell that morning, I asked why she hadn't called my cell phone before this morning (and I checked she literally called me 15 minutes prior to standing outside our door with the police, and we were sleeping) which is the appropriate route because who's to say I'm in the room to answer the room phone and she told me they call the room phone to contact guests. Which is wildly inconvenient and unreliable and if you're going to call the police you would think you would have attempted to really get a hold of me beforehand unless she was just going out of her way to humiliate guests. She told me that every wedding before paid in advance, and I told her that we were told it could be billed to the room. It wasn't even something I asked for but something that was offered as an option. Why allow guests to do this and then humiliate and criminalize them when they use that option? The bill was paid and the police left and she told me checkout was at 11 and said in the most condescending evil tone "congratulations on your wedding" HUMILIATING experience, and a completely sour evil woman and awful experience. If you get married here pay in advance and stay in a different hotel or your will be treated like trash. That or we were targeted against because my husband is Muslim and I guess that means we can't pay our bill so the police need to escort us and our debit cards to the front desk two hours before checkout. Thank you Lora Hotel for the outstanding service.

Had dinner with a couple of friends one evening this past week. Food was very good and service (thank you Claire) was outstanding. It's pricey so I will save it for special occasions.

Stayed here for a week while traveling for work and had the most wonderful, relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and decorated so cute and the shower was amazing. I loved the fact that you receive a $5 credit for every day that you refuse housekeeping/laundry. This was a nice touch. The restaurant staff was wonderful and food was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel and will be back.

The hotel building and location is 5 stars. The customer service was 2 stars, so I am giving this 3 stars. Beautiful building, great location to walk around downtown stillwater. They also offered Aveda shampoo/conditioner. We had a 4 night stay and they did not offer any cleaning services. When we arrived around midnight, the guy running the desk was not friendly. He looked very sad and unhappy to be working. He didn't seem to know what he was doing. He would continue asking us questions about our reservation and seemed to not care about our concerns. During our stay almost every person working at the front desk seemed sad and unfriendly. This is not why I am giving 2 stars for customer service. I definitely understand being sad at work. I'm giving 2 stars for customer service because the manager was very rude. We were told that we could park in the front of the hotel in a designated area. We had parked there the first 3 nights. The fourth day when we had come back from exploring our time in Stillwater, the manager comes running out with another working demanding us to move. We politely told her that we were advised the first night that we could park there. She was very rude and told us we needed to leave that parking area. She had no customer service skills at all. We politely left only to see that someone else started parking there over night. This place is good if you don't run into problems with the manager. She is very rude and shouldn't be a manager at a hotel.

We frequent Stillwater and was looking forward to staying at this hotel. The decor is beautiful and staff was friendly. The downside, didn't know Valet parking was $30 until we checked out. The only alternative parking is down a ways and across the street from the hotel. The bed was comfortable. Elevator did not work the entire stay. Bathroom floor had not been cleaned for some time.

made reservations for my parents for their anniversary and they absolutely love it. The hotel went above and beyond to make the feel special and welcomed for their stay. My sister and I live across the country so it was amazing to know they were in good hands and could really treat themselves! Helps that the Feller restaurant is in the hotel, where they dined for dinner AND brunch the next day. Thank you, Lora staff (Masha, etc) for taking care of them.

It's a perfect hotel. The staff, rooms and on-site food and beverage options are all incredible. We only booked a one-night stay, but ended up staying for 3 because of the overall excellence of the property. Being pet friendly is also a major plus that we so appreciate. Thanks for an amazing experience, we will be back soon.

me and my girl friends stayed here while we were in stillwater. we were really excited to stay here because of the super cute aesthetic. well the super cute aesthetic is all that there is to the hotel. i really wish i could leave no stars but it's not an option. they treated us very poorly from the night we got there and we felt very uncomfortable for all of our stay. we basically paid a huge amount of money to be treated like children and to experience racism all weekend. if you are a person of color, do not stay at this hotel. if you care about the way people of color are treated, don't stay at this hotel. if you wanna be in the corner of a hotel, in a small room with no window, and not be allowed to speak, this is the place for you! all of the staff members were rude including the ones in the restaurant. the best part of our experience was an amazing girl named Jess! she made us feel very comfortable and at ease. she's the sweetest girl, with a very kind heart. all that i have to say to this hotel is that if you don't want black people to come here, put that on your website.

Horrible experience to say the least. Staff is incredibly rude and discriminatory. The manager probably being the worst one. We did meet a lovely lady named Jessica and she was so helpful and kind, when everyone else was not. We stayed for 3 nights and we were so excited because the hotel is so nice, and close to everything The price per night was not cheap, and we spent our fair share to be there, spending money at the bar, restaurant and coffee shop. We were treated like children and like we were an inconvenience to them. I would never never recommend any person of color to stay at this hotel. It was a very very uncomfortable experience. I wish I could give them negative stars but honestly the one star is for Jessica.

We stayed at the Lora for three days, a Thursday through Saturday. The room was very well appointed, with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The shower was luxurious. A lot of comfort for the price. We ate at the Feller restaurant and enjoyed our meals immensely. The menu is adventuresome (we had the Wild Boar and the Venison Bolognese) and delicious. For those with a more traditional palate, they had plenty of other choices, including a burger that looked great. The bar, The Long Goodbye had a nice vibe, with excellent cocktails. We enjoyed everything about this place. The modern feel, great customer service and excellent location on main street. We parked across the street in the public parking, though they do offer valet parking which is a bit expensive. We look forward to staying there again.

My husband just stayed here (checked in December 6 and checked out December 8) and enjoyed his room which he found very comfortable but for this----waiting from midnight to 1:30 a.m. for a locksmith to arrive because something was wrong with the lock of his room. It is understandable at that hour I guess? although it strikes me that someone should be on call and arrive much sooner than that. Suggesting some free drinks to him at 1:30 am for the trouble is hardly something that is a compensation for that kind of inconvenience. They also offered him breakfast which was nice but he had to get up early. At that point the hotel should have most definitely given him at least a partial discount for that night.

This is is an incredible addition to Stillwater let alone Minnesota. The staff is incredible and the atmosphere and blend of old/new is out of this world. We enjoyed food and cocktails and will ABSOLUTELY return. I cannot wait to spend a night here. Kate was so welcoming and the staff was so friendly and attentive.

My husband and I celebrated our 45th Anniversary at Hotel Lora. Checking in and getting our car parked was fast and easy. It's such a great location for sightseeing, shopping and eating. Loved the bedding, the Nespresso, the shower head and shower were gorgeous and the view if the river was lovely. The room was spotless. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect after reading some of the reviews and seeing some of the reviews. We were impressed with everything and received anniversary greetings from check in, in our room and also by the host and wait staff in Fellers. Would definitely stay there again. The only word of advice would be to plan for street noise if your room faces the river and bring some ear plugs. Not sure what was going on outside but we heard drumming up until about midnight. The river view was worth it. I'll review Feller separately but we would drive to Stillwater just to have the dinner we had there.

I decided to block off rooms for my wedding in November and unfortunately, it was not a great experience. They are the only vendor that I would not recommend anyone to book for a wedding. I'm sure that they would be an amazing choice for a 1 or 2-night stay. I do not want to write this because I feel horrible about rating someone semi-badly, but PLEASE anyone reading this, reconsider Lora hotel for your wedding block!! The staff means well but there were so many miscommunications. I pray that my case was an exception and just fell through the cracks because Lora hotel is truly gorgeous. I chose the hotel for its gorgeous exposed brick and the ambiance. I wanted my guests (if they wanted to) to stay in a nice hotel and have a good experience. My experience started off AMAZING! Rachel helped me block off rooms and my empire suite for the night of the wedding. I sent her a lot of questions and she was prompt and reassuring that I was going to be taken care of. We agreed that she would keep me updated via email on the status of who has booked which room using my wedding code. A few months later I added rooms to my room block for the night before the wedding (for the wedding party) and they were very helpful. My sister received a blank template email for her reservation, no biggie but fast forward... I got a call from a bridesmaid who didn't get an email confirmation when she reserved. She called them and was told that there was an empire suite she could take, but that usually it's reserved for the bride and groom. When she relayed that message, I called, and it turns out Rachel NEVER TOOK MY RESERVATION. As a bride in the pandemic I had so many things on my mind and it never occurred to me to double-check that my reservation was confirmed. Thank goodness my bridesmaid told me, otherwise who knows if my room would have been taken by someone else! When I tried to follow up with Rachel, she was no longer with the company. I called Lora and started working with Veronica. She provided me with a booking link for my guests that I was never given by Rachel (mind you, this is now 2 months before the wedding, and less than 1 month before the discounted rate would expire). Shortly after, my brother's partner called me and let me know they couldn't find any rooms in my room block and was given a numerical code? Which made 0 sense because I was told it was an alphabetical code or link that Veronica just provided. I found it interesting they would give this to a guest to wonder if they booked in the correct room block. Also, if there weren't any more rooms available, I would have appreciated being contacted by Lora before one of my guests was told that there aren't any more rooms available. As mentioned before, I was told by Rachel that I would have updates on who has booked. I called Lora back to get to the bottom of what was happening and spoke to Bobette on the phone. She could not tell me how many rooms I had left in my wedding block. She said that some rooms were in "limbo" and that I was going to have to email Veronica to add more rooms if needed. Totally no offense to Bobette, I know she meant well, but I would recommend training front desk staff to at least look up available rooms in wedding blocks as I was very stressed. After contacting Veronica I was finally provided a list of the guests who had reserved rooms. My future aunt in law was not on the list, and told me that she called Lora TWICE to confirm her reservation. For the room itself, it was GORGEOUS. The bunny knocker on the front door!? So cute! I am so happy that I got ready in the empire suite . I loved that we had access to a little patio, I felt very spoiled. The only downside is that the empire suite is right next to a stairway and common area outside. The windows must be VERY thin because I woke up at 6AM to people running up and down the stairs (crazy people lol). I literally thought people were in my room and got freaked out because that is how loud people were. I could hear every convo, every can that was cracked, etc. I also managed to lose one of my room keys so got locked out of my room at 6:30AM and of course did not have a mask on me (I didn't even have shoes on lol), so when trying to get back in my room the front desk man asked me what the last 4 digits of the card I booked were in order to confirm my identity. I appreciate him trying to confirm it was me,but why is that the first question you ask? Do most people know the last 4 of their CC at 6:30AM? Lol. After that, he confirmed my address with me and it was fine. I was just thankful that he didn't charge me for losing a key card or not kicking me out for not having a mask. Later when we were checking out, they were helpful by providing us with carts for the gifts and luggage from the wedding. He also explained the receipt and the difference in amounts (pending charge) on my bank account. All in all, a decent hotel experience, and a bad wedding hotel experience.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary, and we enjoyed every minute. It's a bit pricey for the Stillwater area and valet parking (which is practically required, given the parking situation in downtown Stillwater) is $30 per night. That said, everything was excellent. The staff were warm and inviting, and when they found out it was our anniversary, they sent a complimentary bottle of wine up to our room with a nice card. They have done a lovely job renovating the series of old buildings that make up the hotel. The juxtaposition of old and modern is tastefully done, though there are spots where you can definitely smell the damp caves that extend into the cliffs behind the hotel. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and beautifully dressed, and the bathroom was spacious with a fantastic waterfall shower (and enough water pressure to actually rinse out my hair. After check-in, we hit the patio at Feller downstairs for a glass of wine and a late lunch - the food was fantastic and our waitress was a hoot. The homemade sauces (including a zippy mustard) and local cheese and bread make everything top notch. It is a perfect spot to sit with a cocktail and a snack while watching the world go by (albeit a little loud with frequent motorcycles roaring their way out of town). We had the benefit of perfect weather, to boot. We also had breakfast at Feller the next morning - outstanding. Old fashioned crispy flapjacks, thick-cut bacon, perfect over-easy eggs, and a Croque Madame with a Mornay sauce worthy of a Paris sidwalk cafe - all at a remarkably reasonable price. Aromatic French Press coffee from the coffee shop next door was the bow on top of a perfect way to start the day. Highly recommended for a comfortable, romantic stay in Stillwater - we will absolutely be back!

We stayed here a few nights over the 4th of July. We have been to Stillwater many times and spend quite a bit of time there throughout the year. We were eagerly anticipating the opening of this hotel given the lack of comfortable hotel accommodations available. I made reservations several days in advance and requested a room that would accommodate our family, 2 adults and 2 children. The hotel is well located on Main Street and was built inside an old building. The exterior and lobby were modern and decorated nicely. We checked in and went to our room.....it was basically like walking into a cave. Two of the four walls are stone blocks and the smell and humidity is comparable to a cave. To add to the cave like ambiance there are no windows in the room. I asked the front desk to move us but no other rooms were available. There is definitely a dampness to the room that makes it uncomfortable, it reminds me of being a damp basement. That night, when my kids laid on the bed they said "the bed is cold and feels wet". The second morning my daughter found an ant crawling under her sheets. She then started looking around and found another in her bed as well as one in our bed. During her ant hunt she let out scream, she and my wife saw a 2"-3" centipede crawl out of gap in the wall. She found a total of "seven ants and 1 centipede" during her brief hunt. To summarize, no windows, damp, dark cave like room with resident centipedes and ants, on the 3rd floor of a newly built hotel. As a side note, the bathroom is attractive with a nice size shower. The designer did a adequate job with the cosmetics but failed on the functionality, you have to actually stand in the shower to turn it on. You have to be stealthy and quick to avoid getting a blast of cold water. Because the hotel is new and recently opened you may expect a few operational deficiencies but not the several that we encountered ( for example, coffee, toiletries not restocked when room cleaned. Only two bath towel sets provided in a room for four guests. When arriving at the elevator at the same time as hotel staff, rather than letting the guests use the elevator, they get in the elevator, push the button, and tell you "I am going up".) Each instance nothing major, but everything together adds up to poor preparation. I could write the deficiencies off as marginal staff training and preparations because they are a new business. However, when a hotel is charging rates comparable to and presenting itself as a 4-5* class hotel you expect them to have their act together when they open, not use their guests to train in their staff and to point out the deficiencies of the property. We did switch rooms after the second night, it was better. It was clean and relatively comfortable. If this was the only room we stayed in I would have probably given the hotel 3*, average at best. I hope Hotel Lora addresses these issues and that there are other more positive reviews of this property forthcoming. Stillwater could really use a nice, comfortable upscale hotel. Unfortunately, this hotel is not currently fulfilling that need.

$26 Manhattan. Seriously? Be careful which call liquor you order. Wisconsin Funeral app was good.

I cannot rant and rave about this hotel enough. Everything is top-notch in my eyes from the room, the service everything was exquisite.

My husband and I stayed two nights for our Anniversary. The check was easy and the staff was friendly. We got to our room and it was beautiful and we were excited. Then we tried to leave and the door would not latch. We called down to the front desk and they couldn't fix it so moved us to another room. Offered to move our stuff for us but we opted to do it. We got to the new room and it was not as nice as the first one so we went to the front desk and explained this. They were very apologetic and looked for a different room. We ended up in one with a balcony overlooking the street and the river. It was been smooth sailing since then. Great rooms, the beds are comfortable and spacious. The staff has gone out of there way to be helpful and have been so good. The room was cleaned while we were away. It is a great place to stay and has been so nice being able to go back to drop off packages and take a break from the day.
