The hotel was utterly outstanding. The room was large, comfortable and absolutely spotless. The location is quiet and relaxing. The freshly cooked breakfast was fantastic and a major highlight. But what was so wonderful about this lovely place was the staff: professional, friendly and helpful in every way. The value for money here is absolutely exceptional and I'd recommend it to anyone.

We were here for two nights. The setting is totally charming, the staff are delightful, and the rooms are quirky and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of the Savannah Park and the Botanical Gardens. The staff arranged a taxi tour of Port of Spain for us and the driver (Ignatius Perkins) took us to watch the sun set over Port of Spain and then gave us a tour of the city’s highlights, and lots of cultural information. The hotel is set in a little garden with a patio to sit outside. Breakfast is available at the hotel and the food was very good. A really nice introduction to Trinidad!

I stayed here for two nights as part of a wider trip around the Caribbean.||||At the time of booking I was looking for somewhere good value for money, central with parking. L'Orchidee matched that.||||I arrived late evening and it wasn't easy to find in the dark as it is not signposted on the outside of the building. However once I was in all was good. Quick friendly check-in, room easy to find and clean and bright. Good comfy double bed, plenty of storage, free wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, air con and satellite TV. Everything was well maintained and super clean.||||Bathroom had a shower with plenty of hot water, plugs and hair dryer and decent towels with some free toiletries. ||||Room was very quiet, although if I returned I'd stay on the first floor.||||Breakfast next morning was nice. Cereal, fruit, eggs to order, breads and daily cakes with juice, tea and coffee. All freshly made.||||I'd describe this hotel more as a bed and breakfast than a boutique hotel, however the staff were super friendly and helpful and I had a great stay.||||You can walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Savannah and downtown area if you can cope with the heat. I also felt safe here.

We stayed 5 nights. It is situated on a quiet upmarket residential road. The ground floor room was spacious, clean and comfortable and had all we needed. Our room was close to the dining room and kitchen so there was a little noise from staff starting to prepare breakfast etc but not a major problem. The breakfast was cooked to order and encouraged us to try local dishes which is good. Staff were very attentive and friendly. To call it a "hotel" is a little misleading - there is no other food on offer and no lounges or other amenities. As we were approaching carnival time it was good that it is in walking distance of Savannah Park

I stayed here during TT carnival season and it is a great place for a group to stay. There were 4 of us staying in a room which had more than enough space for all our stuff and a giant bathroom w a huge shower. 2 or 3 people could easily get ready in the bathroom at once which is perfect for a group of women! The beds were comfy, it has a fridge in the room, chest of drawers and a closet big enough to hold the clothes of 4 women w space left over. It’s a comfortable place to stay but not glamorous. ||As for location it was decent for carnival as we were able to walk to the square but it’s not super close so keep that in mind. It is definitely a bit of a trek but not horribly far. Considering it was carnival it was quiet most of the time other than one nite where there was band outside until all hours so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. This place is nowhere close to a beach or to a few other attractions so you should definitely bring a hefty amount of cab fare or rent a vehicle bc you will need to drive most places. ||The staff were amazing and extremely accommodating! Super friendly and helpful for whatever you need. For most of the week a warm bfast was served which was always tasty!

We have been coming to this hotel for the past 5 years and its our home away from home. Really lovely staff and the breakfast is simply delicious. They do really good scrambled eggs! The location is also quite safe and quite generally.

To visitors - If you are looking for a place to stay in Port of Spain, don’t waste time with the big chain names. L’Orchidee is hands down the best hotel in Port of Spain, period. End of story. They treated us like a family member and spoilt us rotten during the five days that we stayed there.|||Christine, SheriyAnne, Samaya, Cheryl, Wendy and all the others - You have truly demonstrated the highest standard of hospitality. I can say for sure, that my wife and I have not experienced a stay like this before. Our time at L’Orchidee was indelible and will forever be etched in our memories. ||Christine - Thank you for answering all my questions about Port of Spain and Tobago for the two months prior to our visit. You have an amazing staff who truly love working for you. ||Samaya - Thank you for cooking the breadfruit two ways - fried as well as boiled in coconut milk, for making us hot cocoa and coffee. My wife and I always felt like we were be no doted on.||SheriyAnne - Thank you for your hospitality and help via email for answering my questions.||Cheryl - We really wanted to bundle you up and take you with us !!!! Thank you for feeding us the variety of vegetarian fritters. You were so sweet to make us the eggplant dishes and also to warm up my stored breadfruit dish every day. ||Wendy and staff - Thank you for cleaning our rooms every day. ||We really didn’t want to go back home. Every day made us feel more at home. All our unusual requests for food and other things were met immediately.||Our deepest gratitude to everyone at L’Orchidee for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.||

Excellent boutique hotel. Very homely and the staff are very interested in your comfort and willing to go the extra mile. Breakfast is made to order but the options were limited. The room was spacious, clean and seemed to be well maintained. I would return here.
