Yelp
Please be forewarned by my experience, which I now see is an experience shared by others! (I should've read Lord & Whisper's reviews PRIOR to making an appt.)
So, first off - I arrive and the receptionist was a little rude. She said "What are you here for?" I didn't get a "Hi, Welcome to Lord & Whisper. I'm so and so. Are you here for an appt?" So I told her I had an appt. She asked me to fill out a form.
She acted like she was working in a very busy office/ spa and she didn't know who I was there to see. When in fact, this was NOT a "spa" at all and we were the only two people there the entire time. She was clearly renting a room in a suite of bland, unspa-like, dingy offices and calling it a "spa". There were tons (about 30 or so) of business cards of different businesses on the receptionist's desk. So I was already put off by a) her greeting and b) the unspa-like environment.
I filled out my form (which consisted of unnecessary medical questions, I felt) and returned it to her, the nameless receptionist. And she said, I'll show you to the room and "we'll get started". I thought that was kind of strange (since she never introduced herself as the person who would be doing my facial as well).
It turns out she WAS going to be doing my facial too! Surprise, surprise.
These are the additional reasons why I will never go there again -
1. she asked me what kind of cleanser I was using. I couldn't name it off the top of my head. She asked me if there were beads in it. She said if there are beads in it, it's drying out my skin and I'll get wrinkles. I've been to REAL spas and no one has ever ever said, "you're going to get wrinkles" point blank. We all will, but do I need to hear that during what is supposed to be a relaxing treat for myself?!!
2. she was so rough in applying creams and cleansers. I could've done that to myself. She clearly doesn't have training in facials. Everything she proceeded to do in a very rough manner, I could've done on my own. She did not make me feel relaxed.
3. she almost got cream in my eyes more than once.
4. after the 1st mask, she actually rubbed the mask off with her BARE HANDS. No warm towel or cotton balls were used to remove the 1st mask, Not to mention that she applied the mask, then left the room without a word. She simply returns in a few mins, also without saying a word.
5. When I told her I didn't want extractions because it was too painful for me, she said, "oh good - that's less work for me". Those were her EXACT words.
6. she did offer the extraction service to me again and said I have "15 mins" to let her know if I change my mind. I said I won't be changing my mind. She then informed me that we'll be done early therefore and if I wanted, I can take a nap or whatever. But clearly, she wasn't going to offer any other service to fill up the time I paid for.
7. a door buzzer rang while we were in the session. Not relaxing at all.
8. I am accustomed to visiting REAL spas. There were no teas or treats or lockers, showers or a fancy lounge area at this "spa". No relaxation room, low lights, soothing music or other relaxed/ happy customers around. There was no one around.
9. She used a very scratchy cotton ball-like cloth(?) to remove my 2nd mask. She rubs my face, and tosses them into the trash. It was like she was trying to make it in the basket. How's that for un-spalike. They would noisily hit the trash can each time she tossed one in that direction.
10. I didn't get the feeling that she regularly launders the towels and the robe I put on. It wasn't a real spa. I can't stress that enough.
I couldn't wait to leave there. Good thing my service ended early. I pushed the elevator button several times and hoped that it would transport me out of there asap.
Please don't waste your money here, especially in this economy. This was not a "deal" at all. I am going to be way more careful prior to purchasing any other of those spa deals out there.
