Lord Clyde Southwark

If I lived in London, I'd love for Lord Clyde's to be my neighborhood bar. After a trip to Borough Market, we decided to walk just a few streets away to find a quieter pub. We came during a football match and were able to watch the game on the tv with all the locals. The food was delicious and I loved both the fish and chips and the burger. It was great! The vibe was awesome and I loved being able to have what felt like a real local experience.

Amazing local pub! Nice atmosphere and nice outside seating. Good selection of beers and they have wine too.

Completely enamored with this local London pub! We dipped in for a night cap and I immediately wanted to stay forever. It's very homey and comfortable with carpeted floors, low tables, and a fireplace. I could easily imagine myself ducking in here to avoid a snowy or rainy day, curled up in the corner with a pint and a book.

Step through the velvet curtain ladies and gentlemen...step back in time. This is a solid old school boozer with a historical interior and exterior. A huge darts match that seemed to be featuring a dozen players also made you feel like you had stepped back to the days of Eric Bristow. That they back this up with a handful of decent real ales on tap and very friendly service is just a bonus. Definitely worth seeking this one out if the modern soulless bar is not your thing.

Another one of my locals, I have only good things to say about Lord Clyde. Admittedly, though only around the corner - I've only made it over here for Sunday Roast. I've done my share of roasts around London, and have been mostly disappointed. Most places don't ever seem to get the heat of the meat right and I've had my fair share of soggy yorkshire pudding. But not here. If you're looking for a good old fashioned roast - nothing too spectacular but reminiscent of a Sunday at home - this is your place. As mentioned in earlier posts, this really is a local spot - though it appears word has gotten round that this is a good find so we have our fair share hipsters stopping in. There is a decent wine list and range of beers and you can choose whether to sit in the quieter dining area or in the more rowdy pubish area in front. I'l have to write another review once i make it in for quiz night!

This is a real London gem, frequented mostly by old timers and locals. The pub has been owned by born and bred Londoners for three generations. Not somewhere to dine, but great for clandestine meets, or a quiet chinwag if you are in the area. A secret fact about this place? Ask the pub landlord about London StreetWars, the Shed Squad, and an eevilmidget...

I love this pub. Proper local boozer with all sorts of characters. I have had lots of great chats with random people in here. No idea about the drinks, as I have gin and tonic.

This is a real local's pub with character. Much like the Royal Oak on the other side of the Borough High Street, except that it's older and homelier and less bright. A solid selection of standard and unusual ales on tap with decent flavour. I might not come on a day when there's an England game on, as I suspect there'd be a rash of St George's Cross-painted faces (not that there's anything wrong with that, but).

A perfect London pub in a sweet neighborhood. As a tourist, we wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of London's tourist areas. We escaped to Lord Clyde where we were warmly greeted and given delicious beers almost immediately. The bartender was happy to chat with us, but let us to ourselves which was nice as well. A quintessential London experience.

I'm the first to review the Lord Clyde?! I can't believe it, are you Yelp people mad? Ok then I'll start, it's a real pub, walking tours of the area pause outside and photograph the lovely green ceramic tiling but don't go in! Don't make that mistake, step inside, through the thick curtain and soak up one of London's unspoilt gems. It has it all, etched glass, tons of wood, old mirrors,, a lovely landlady and impeccably maintained pumps with beers called 'Tea' and more.You can sit outside now they have pedestrianised the little road, but unless you have to smoke just stay inside and soak up a classic boozer. They do food too, and that's all good, do it, for me.

legit place. over a 100 years old. very humble and homey. the owner was very kind and the local drinkers struck up a nice conversation.

The fillings in the burgers/sandwiches are very small relative to the price you pay. Not what you would expect from a traditional English pub. I ordered the chicken burger, which only had a few small pieces of chicken in it (not a proper sized breast fillet, as one might expect). I explained that I was disappointed with the portion size to the server/busboy and asked for a little more chicken. His response was, "sorry but that's the standard sized portion". Not very good customer service; unwilling to accommodate reasonable customer requests. The friends I went with ordered salt beef sandwiches, all of which were similarly skimpy on the filling. I would not recommend eating here. It's not bad for just a beer however.

This place is on the way home from work and I've been meaning to stop in. I popped in for lunch today just to check it out. I had the steak and ale pie with mash which was very good. The lady had a burger and for my taste was too well done, but had a nice onion flavor. There seemed to be a few locals stopping in for a mid-day pint (this concept is foreign to me but awesome) and there was a relaxed atmosphere. I've walked by here (as mentioned previously) on my way home from work and the outdoor patio is usually pretty full. A guy I work with also said there is a group of older gents that watch horse racing and yell at the TV from time to time. Overall a nice little pub, will have to swing by after work for a few brews.

Lovely little locals pub. Lee will make you feel welcomed and serve you with warm hospitality.
