Sunday brunch buffet at Lord’Jim, Mandarin Oriental was absolutely amazing.! 🍤🥦 Fresh seafood, sushi. Foiegra, lamb racks. Thanks to K.Ploy for securing our table at the last minute. Huge thanks to the chef for the delicious authentic green curry, K. Piyamas for notifying the chef and K. Pithaya and K. Dow for assisting in the dining room, the staff were attentive and helpful just as rumored. The historic and elegant dining room with a stunning Chao Phraya river views and the lovely cake made our anniversary truly unforgettable💛🌦️

1 star restaurant at 5 star prices. Only 2 short rows of food with people crammed in and full of queues. Musty carpet smells and dated decor from the 80s with no renovation. Staff allocated us the worst table. It was a table for 2 people when we had 3 diners. We asked to be moved to 4 other empty tables suitable for 3 people but were repeatedly told no by several staff. The staff even said we had the best table in the restaurant despite it being small with no river views, and blamed us for booking 2 days ago, when we had in fact booked a week prior. Completely unprofessional and inflexible attitude. Cannot believe this is a Mandarin Oriental, the entire experience was worse than a dingy food court. We left straight away.

Lord Jim's offers sumptuous international buffet at lunch and dinner, just only on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My favorite dish is foie gras with mango, cranberry and apple sauce. However, chefs used to prepare foie gras with only mango sauce years ago. Its taste was far better than now. Sweet lovers would be in paradise because the desserts are included both local and western selections. Sticky rice with mango is one of all-time favorite items. A-la-minute Crêpes Suzette with icecream is also provided. Drinking water is included in the buffet. Services are flowless. Staffs are absolutely well-trained and professional.

The MO service standards never fade out with time. Always extraordinary, attention to details, facilitating seating chair whenever staff is there. It's the highest quality of buffet with variety of selections I could say.

We had buffet lunch at Lord Jim. Excited to enjoy our time, we did not make any fuss but the below par service was very noticeable and apparently the senior staff did not seem to realize their poor performance. Food selection was nice. Thai cuisine was excellent. Seafood quality was very nice. Chinese was the least interesting. Service was however questionable as we were not quite well received. The elderly man in a suit greeted us with language that is suitable for a friend not quite appropriate for guests. Meanwhile other table received recommendations for dishes, no one cared to ask our table. We had to ask the waitresses to share the food selection. The two suit males never came around to service our table. Is this Mandarin Oriental standard of service?

First time in Oriental Mandarin and our plan was to have a quick dinner before enjoying jazz at the Bamboo bar. (See review on Bamboo bar) Luckily we chose this restaurant. Everyone greeted us when we stepped into the restaurant, making us feel like royalty. We were seated near the window with a nice expansive view of the river and the colourful boats sailing by. Three of us had the white asparagus (seasonal), lamb loin, grilled leek, lobster bisque, organic corn fed chicken, grilled cod fish and potato millefeuille. Everything was delicious, only complaint was one of my asparagus was stringy and parts were inedible. The lobster bisque was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Dipping the complimentary sourdough bread with special butter in the bisque was sinfully delicious. We ended up too full for dessert. Two other tables were celebrating birthdays showing how popular Lord Jim’s is. Price is not cheap but you definitely get great food and service.
