I considered it among the top buffet in Thailand. Good food good service,, whether it is worth the money? Depends on what you are looking for....

Lunch buffet is ok, but plan to pay almost 4,000 baht per person to drink water only. To me, this price is outrageous, and there is no lobster on the buffet. Also, melon with Parma ham dish did not have the ham. I don't think the old adage "You get what you pay for here" works for here.
In my opinion you may be paying for the salary of the pastry chef in addition to your meal. For this price, I do not think I would return. Service was excellent, however, for those who have no problem throwing your money away.

The service is amazing. They take care of every single detail. The food is very delicious, with great quality and wonderful taste. The coffee smell was special, and also the desert.

First time in Oriental Mandarin and our plan was to have a quick dinner before enjoying jazz at the Bamboo bar. (See review on Bamboo bar) Luckily we chose this restaurant. Everyone greeted us when we stepped into the restaurant, making us feel like royalty. We were seated near the window with a nice expansive view of the river and the colourful boats sailing by. Three of us had the white asparagus (seasonal), lamb loin, grilled leek, lobster bisque, organic corn fed chicken, grilled cod fish and potato millefeuille. Everything was delicious, only complaint was one of my asparagus was stringy and parts were inedible. The lobster bisque was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Dipping the complimentary sourdough bread with special butter in the bisque was sinfully delicious. We ended up too full for dessert. Two other tables were celebrating birthdays showing how popular Lord Jim’s is. Price is not cheap but you definitely get great food and service.

I have made it a small tradition, that when I am in Thailand, to make sure to spend at least one weekend in Bangkok, and have a Sunday buffet at Lord Jim's. To get there you need to get to the BTS SkyTrain station , Saphan Taksin. Once there, call the hotel and they will send a river boat to pick you up at the pier, which in at one end of the station.
The food at Lord Jim's is superb. From the first bite to your last mouthful, excellence extraordinaire. This is well known and why Lord Jim's reputation is worldwide.
However, what many do not talk about is the service at Lord Jim's.
The first time I came here, as a lone traveller, I was treated like a queen and this has continued to be true over the many years that I have come here.
Unfortunately, covid interrupted many travellers plans, mine included, coming back, after not having had a holiday in many months, is such a pleasure. Once again I was greeted like an old friend, and most especially, like I deserved to be in this glorious restaurant, and not like the poor student that I actually am.
The price reflects the food variety, taste, quality and quantity plus the service and atmosphere. The one thing I save my shekels for!

I went to the restaurant in Mandarin Oriental hotel with high expectations and left impressed.
I booked a Sunday Brunch to see what it was all about. Although it's on a smaller scale, all the essential food stations, including sushi, seafood, and grilling, were present. The quality of the food was exceptional. For example, the sushi and maki were even better than those at high-quality Japanese restaurants. The brunch also featured some prime dishes from the menu, such as foie gras and prime rib. I added a house beverage package that included beer and wine, which was well worth the price. The decor is a bit dated, but I suppose it adds to the charm of the restaurant. The dessert section featured local favorites, including mango sticky rice in various colors. The service was excellent.

We had a wonderful time at Lord Jim's. The food was amazing and well presented. The ability to have some food ordered and made was interesting and also heightened the experience. Staff at the restaurant and the Mandarin Oriental were extremely diligent and hard working going well above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and valued. Our daughter fell asleep mid meal and they made an impromptu bed for her, while ferry staff went out of their way to take us back to our hotel despite it not being a regular stop.
I would to thank everyone that made our evening a night to remember on our Bangkok trip.
