This restaurant really cares about hospitality. And quality food. The proprietor I was on site. He was pleasant and accommodating to the guests. Server was nice, efficient and attentive. We celebrated Father's Day and the experience made us all feel special.

Every dish we ordered was delicious. The best fried sweet potatoes we ever had! The go to restaurant in Newberry port, highly recommended!

I absolutely loved my dinner at Loretta’s Restaurant in downtown Newburyport! The location is convenient, with a large parking lot nearby and plenty of street parking available. Despite the restaurant being very busy, they quickly set up additional tables to accommodate guests, which was impressive. The staff was exceptional—super fast, attentive, and highly professional, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely incredible, with bold flavors and generous portion sizes. I especially appreciated that they clearly label gluten-free options on the menu, making it easy for those with dietary restrictions to find something delicious. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Loretta’s. The warm atmosphere, outstanding service, and phenomenal food make it a must-visit spot in Newburyport. I highly recommend it!

We really like everything that we ordered: from appetisers to the main course all was tasty and pretty good. Everything was served fast, highly recommended

They take reservations, but if you get in early enough for late lunch, shouldn't be a problem. How ever you go, this place is worth what ever wait you have to endure. Food was awesome as was the service. Our waitress was one of the top 5 we've ever had. Taylor knows her job and does it well. We'll be going back, you can count on it.

This is a mainstay of the area, and has always had great food and friendly service. I had the occasion to visit recently for their well known Sunday brunch, and I was as satisfied as in my previous trips. The live Jazz music adds a lot to the warm ambiance of the place. I had extraordinary service from Marissa, who is very friendly and customer focused and made sure I had a good experience. The Crab Cake appetizer was just mouthwatering, and the Thai Chicken Lettuce wrap entree was every bit as flavorful and appetizing. Topping that off with the delicious Lemon Cello cake for dessert made the whole brunch a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this restaurant; worth a stop.

Spending a week in Ipswich for summer vacation, we spent an afternoon in Newburyport. I will admit that we have been disappointed in the food that we have eaten since we arrived 2 days ago, but eating at Loretta changed all that. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was great and the food was excellent ! We were so glad that we went there, and I would not be surprised if we returned before we head home.

This is my go-to dinner spot whenever I am in Newburyport. The vibe is perfect, the drinks are delicious, and the food never disappoints. Not to mention Loretta is one of the few remaining restaurants that still gives you free bread and butter before dinner (which always guarantees a 5 star rating from me). I ordered the grilled swordfish and it was cooked perfectly --- not too fishy and a good sized portion to boot. THE place to go, especially if you can secure a table outside.

loretta is a beautiful, quaint restaurant perfect for a date night or family gathering in downtown newburyport. bonnie was our server and provided great service. we started with the perfect caesar salad, which was ideal to split. their burrata ravioli was better than imagined, i removed the corn and loved the flavor profile, definitely one of my favorite ravioli dishes i've tried. the brick grilled chicken was good but could have had fluffier potatoes and a bit more seasoning, cooked very well though. to top off the evening, we tried their limoncello cake which was fantastic. caesar salad 10/10 burrata ravioli 10/10 brick grilled chicken 9/10 limoncello cake 10/10 i'd highly recommend loretta if you're near newburyport! ambiance: 5/5 food: 4.8/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 5/5 loretta: 5/5

I have been dreaming about their Burrata Ravioli since the last time I had it. Once again, it did not disappoint! The chocolate mousse for desert was just as amazing. Food and service spot on.

I've been to Newburyport many times but have never been able to get into Loretta's and I can see why!! I had their raspberry margarita-two actually. First one was amazing!! Tart, crisp, tangy and refreshing. Second one was way too much lime-I couldn't drink it....however, when I told them it was awful and undrinkable, they made me a new one without any issues. Haven't had a truly delish or correctly cooked prime rib in forever! I honestly have to say this is the best prime rib I've ever had! The seasoning, cooked the exact way I asked for....really tender and flavorful! The mashed potatoes were solid, thick, and perfect. The asparagus were perfection! The only constructive guidance I'd offer is the food was cool to cold when it arrived. Otherwise perfection!

Always consistently excellent! Loretta is one of those restaurants that is always excellent. The food, the service- I prefer sitting at the bar. The tuna salad with Brussels is my absolute favorite. We come here a lot and it's always so good.

My boyfriend and I ate hear tonight and I cannot say enough good things! The food was amazing along with the service. The owner was also present and very involved which we appreciated. 10/10

***** This is a rare perfect place. The food is delicious and affordable. The ambiance is Casablanca/Italian/Greek summer. The service is assured and kind. Everyone seems to matter. It's a treasure.

We were told to visit Loretta by other Yelpers as well as the host of our Airbnb, who happened to be a chef! It was very easy to make a reservation over the phone. When we arrived, I could see why a reservation was a good decision - it was packed! This place is very popular. We were seated right away. It was obvious that our server was very busy. She didn't check on us as much as we hoped for, but we understood. The food was delicious and the photos really didn't do it justice. The portions were huge and we had a hard time finishing everything! Overall it was a great experience and the setting was intimate, which was what we were looking for.

Loretta is like going home, relaxed, lovely wait staff & consistently great food & drinks. Interesting specials & pleasant decor. You can't go wrong from burgers to seafood risotto. My favorite restaurant.

This restaurant was highly recommended so expectations were high. We left feeling flaccid. The service was cold. Not unfriendly but uninterested. Both lunches we ordered were nothing more than average. The roast beef au jus came with a horseradish sauce that tasted like sour milk. There was no taste of horseradish. The meat was bland. We had a the burger with green bleu cheese sauce as well. I forgot what it was called but the burger itself was as boring as they come, and the bacon was chewy. The bun was good quality but was completely soaked and was paste. Nothing was terrible and nothing was memorable.

Awesome Loved it! Every thing was excellent! Service food dessert! Mirena was great!

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at Loretta's. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. My wife ordered the salad with swordfish, and I had the beet & goat cheese salad with shrimp. The swordfish was cooked to perfection (my wife really liked it). Our server was very helpful. We look forward to visiting again the next time we're In Newburyport.

We were on vacation and decided to try this place per recommendations from local friends. The prime rib and filets were prepared as ordered and very tender, juicy, and flavorful. The entire meal was delicious. The service was attentive and we had everything we needed. The ambience was quaint and relaxing. We wanted to try the blueberry lemon bread pudding, but we were too full to do it. Will save room the next time. We would definitely return.

Food was near perfect/ soup was hot- the taste was wonderful---the pasta was done just perfect and the bolognese sauce was meaty and delicious- they only serve this at lunch on Tuesdays - since I am a burger guy-- this was a treat and solid change of pace

The ambiance of this restaurant is very nice, high end feel with a very comforting side. Feels like fine dining mixed with a bar. The food was off the charts, coming from California I was blown away at the prices, especially after walking in. From then on everything else just got better and better. The service was superb and the staff was very attentive. The calamari was nice a crispy, the scallops were to die for (they inspired me to start to make them at home) and the sauces were packed with flavor. We had to get some extra bread to make sure the muscle sauce wasn't wasted. I would highly recommend this spot. I will for sure come back the next time I'm out here.

Finally had a chance to visit Loretta for lunch with some friends, and so glad we did. After hearing positive comments from others, we wanted to give them a try. This is a large dining room, and was pretty busy for Sunday lunch. There was live music and a few celebrations taking place toward the rear of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and we found service to be great. Cocktails were beautifully presented and delicious. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer , which were delectable. Fried, crispy with just a hint of sweet/spicy sauce. Easy to share and possibly addicting. Our group of four were all happy with their entrees. Warm lobster roll, crab cakes, French dip sandwich and an Asian inspired chicken in lettuce wrap. Plenty of modern American style dishes to choose from on the menu, and well executed, and so it is obvious to see why they are so busy and have such high ratings. We will certainly be back!

The food was very tasty and a good cast of New English foods. The service was SO GOOD. Our server was so friendly and sweet! The ambiance is upscale casual, kind of authentic/old school vibes. Food highlights: The crab cakes were melt in your mouth and the southwestern style aioli and corn slaw was a great contrast to the cakes. The clam chowder was the best I've had, so rich and creamy, plus the clams were so fresh! The lobster roll's lobster was so tender and delicious! The bread was sweet and soft butter toaster and the sweet potato fries were so uniquely fried, and SO YUMMY.

Went to Newburyport for a few days with a friend. Locals recommend this place. We sat at bar. Beet salad, burrata ravioli was outstanding. My friend ordered scallops that were outstanding. Cocktails,service and dessert were fabulous. We decided to go back following night. Seafood risotto was the best. I highly recommend this delightful restaurant.

Excellent, excellent, excellent...food, service & ambiance! 4 in our party and we all agreed! Each meal was perfection. No complaints at all. Loretta is the Best!

Life is short , F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friends We happen to come to this restaurant because it was open late for dinner. After spending the day in Plum Island. This just happened to be the top rated restaurant in this nice affluent area. Service was friendly and the owner walks (Loretta's son I think) talking to their guests. To start they provided a side of sliced focaccia bread and butter., For the appetizer we got the coconut milk curry sauce for the mussels. This was a pleasant surprise as the sauce was savory and sweet at the same time. Make sure to get extra bread to soak up the sauce. Next we ordered the Burrata raviolis. You can tell was handmade raviolis because of the texture when biting simple yet delicious. Next we got the Panzanella salad this was tasty. For those of you who follow me you you know I always look for the best burger. The Loretta Burger was a surprise. They get their beef fresh from a local farm within miles from the place. Perfectly balanced layering of flavor. From the toasted brioche buttered bun smoked bacon, sweet onion jam and blue cheese, Boston lettuce w beef steak tomatoes. From the first bite, you knew that it was going to be special from tasting the butter of the bun to the Chris lettuce sweetness of the tomato Roma of the bacon. Then you get the sweet of the jam than the blue cheese. This is one of the burgers from the first bite you that woah moment. I have to say the best burger I've had this year. So if you're in the area to check out the burger.

My husband and I stopped in tonight for dinner. We started with dirty martinis which were wonderful. My husband got the prime rib which he LOVED! I tried it too and it had an awesome seasoning all the way around the outside. I had the filet mignon cooked to a perfect medium temperature!! Both entrees came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was delicious! I'm just sorry I forgot to take pictures!! We sat at the bar - and shout out to Jim who was friendly and professional! We will definitely be back!!

Party of 8! Food was great! Lacking in frozen drinks . But, chose something else. Guess waitress was having a bad night Had a problem with bringing more cocktails , water and utensils‍ Manager alway pleasant and accommodating .Always checks on tables.Thank you !

I don't know how this place gets such good reviews. We were seated promptly at 2pm on a Sunday without a reservation. Service was friendly but slow and I had to wait until the end of my meal to get my water refilled. The lobster roll was good but tasted like pickle because of the pickle they put on the plate right next to the bun which absorbed the pickle juice. Everything else was fine but unremarkable.

The four of us had a fantastic experience here Monday. All the dishes tasted great and service was top notch in a quiet and lovely setting. Pics below! Would visit again. (One lobster roll had a fairly big piece of shell that should have been caught)

The service was ok, but the food was just excellent! I recommend getting the chicken salad, as it was delicious and quite large for the price.

French dip was terrible. Supposed to be prime rib. It tasted like old reheated meat. Very poor quality. Won't go back

I know all locals know this place well and we were recommended to check it out. Totally 5stars! From service to the freshness and the flavors of the seafood and right to the homey feel of their desserts! A special shout out to our sweet Irish gem Fiona who totally made our evening and treated a bunch of Aussies and made us feel totally at home in the sweet town of Newbury Port

Best clam chowder I've ever had. The dirty Martini was spot on and the service was perfectly smooth.

We have been going to Loretta for about 5 years. We stopped in yesterday for lunch and found it to be disappointing. The restaurant was busy but not packed. I had the pastrami sandwich (my usual) which was dry and overcooked. There was hardly any cheese on it. The coleslaw looked and tasted like it had lettuce chopped up and added in to the cabbage mix. My husband ordered the Croque Monsieur (his usual) which was more bread than anything else. The amount of ham in the sandwich was minimal and did not have grey poupon on it. When he asked for mustard, he was handed a bottle of French's yellow. Loretta used to make their own potato chips which were amazing. Yesterday the chips tasted like Lay's Kettle chips. The waitress was less then interested in how our meals were. I am sincerely hoping this was just a bad day at Loretta.

2nd time back. Fair prices for Newburyport and great atmosphere. The problem is the inconsistently cooked steak, and side orders which didn't match their description on the menu and needed a lot of help. It's a shame because the restaurant has what it needs to be phenomenal, but with inconsistencies occurring when we dine, it's just not at that level yet. I hope they will be able to work through these difficulties to execute clean and consistent dishes. I feel bad having to ask for items to be modified or sent back. I shouldn't have to do this at a place like Loretta.

After having read the previous reviews, I've come to the conclusion that the prime rib is pretty good, but the service sucks. Don't believe I'll be visiting this establishment.

6/29/2024 6:00 PM Went there and tried to get a table. No tables available. I put my name on the waiting list and asked how long for a table I was told they don't know. We waited for 20 minutes then 2 seats at the bar opened up so we took them. waited 10 minutes for service then the manager told us we could not sit there because someone was waiting for seats at the bar. Again I asked how long for a table and was told they don' know. I asked again is it going to be 1/2 hour or 1 hour or 2 hours they don't know so we left and will not return. THIS PLACE SUCKS AND THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE DON'T KNOW SHIT EVEN THE MANAGER. I would not recommend this place. There are plenty of other places in Newburyport that are just as good

We sat at the bar and service was great! The food had really good portions and the everything was quick, hot and cooked to perfection! Loretta will now a guarantee to us that it will be a great meal and somewhere we come back to for sure!

Recently visited Newburyport, MA and went to Loretta's restaurant on Pleasant Street. Our experience was fabulous. I had the pan seared salmon, crab cake appetizer and limoncello cake. Unbelievable!!! The staff is absolutely incredible. Suggest you go there when you are in town. Barry

Can't say enough great things about Loretta. The service, food, ambiance were all perfect. Most importantly - the menu - three woman with food allergies and we had so many choices - all delicious. Celiacs rejoice because Loretta is here!! Thank you!!

Hi went to Loretta's with my uncle and aunt last night - I recommend this place and will plan to go back. Started with a beet salas that was I had shrimp scampi that was textbook, shrimp were tender. My aunt had the swordfish also perfectly done. Nice service as well...

The food was very good. A bit pricey on what you received on the filet. Specials were exceptional. We would recommend. We sat outside, which was ok since it was off-season. I'm not a fan of breathing exhaust.

Consistent excellence is hard to find today which is what makes Loretta such a wonderful place for dinner. Owner Ted Epstein is there almost every night making certain they deliver an outstanding dinner (lunch is great as well). Everything on the menu is great, and the prime rib, my personal favorite, is the best I have ever had, and I have had it all over the country!! My wife and I enjoy sitting at the bar, and the bartender servers are excellent as are all the waitstaff. The cocktails are great and the wine is always a generous pour. There is a different, creative bread pudding every night. Did I mention the prices are reasonable, and in my view a real value. If you have been to Loretta, you understand, if not you are in for a treat

Had dinner at Loretta for the first time last night. When I first went to see if there were bar seats, a very unpleasant man plowed over to me and rudely told me that there was "no way" , then we asked the hostess about getting a table outside, at which the same unpleasant man told her that they had no tables. She informed him that there had just been a cancellation for party of six and that we could have a table. She was very sweet and this is when our night took a turn for the better.Our waitress Marissa was fabulous, funny and very attentive. The food was outstanding. I will absolutely go back, but that poor guy really needs some training, he was making a lot of customers uncomfortable. He was running around like a chicken with his head, cut off at one point asking a gentleman to give up his seat outside for one inside and also asked someone at a table to get up and switch chairs

Inside is old and needs to be redone I wouldn't eat in the restaurant but the takeout is the GOAT. Best food in Newburyport they have yet to disappoint on a meal

Great food, service and ambience. Enjoyed the guacamole with home made chips, and a wonderful prime rib. Service was especially good.

We flew in from Southern California yesterday and absolutely LOVE Newbury Port. We found a wonderful inn and walked around all the quaint shops today. We walked by Loretta's as we headed for homemade ice cream. We asked the owner of the creamery for a recommendation for dinner. She suggested Loretta's and advised us to make a reservation. We made a reservation and were greeted immediately. The restaurant was full, but the wait was minimal. As I looked around, the place was well run and very clean which is a big deal to me. The manager and food servers were all attentive and very kind. We ate the Ravioli, Beet Salad and a cup of clam chowder. The ravioli was the best I've ever had and I'm Italian. It was full of flavor. It actually had corn in the olive oil sauce that was seriously good. The clam chowder was incredible and the beet salad was very good. Our server, Lorraine was kind, attentive and gave wonderful service. I won't hesitate to come back to Newbury Port and look forward to revisiting Loretta's.

The food, service and ambiance are all excellent. I hard the salmon which was cooked perfectly and my husband had the seafood risotto which he said was incredible. You can't go wrong at Loretta's.
