Fantastic place! Absolutely beautiful. Great for bikes and hikes, along with float time. My son found a gorgeous faded midget rattlesnake. 100% would recommend!!

Amazing hike up to Arthur's Rock! Trails were very well maintained as were the restrooms at the parking lots.

It's a beautiful park with lots of options for outdoor fun! There are a variety of hiking trails that range from easy to somewhat difficult. There is also lots of lake access, so you can enjoy the water on warmer days. The restroom facilities tend to be in good shape and are well-maintained.

I loved it! Went in November, so this is a kind of late review, but my friend and I had a really good time. If we were better equipped for hiking, we would've gone on a few trails. The views were really pretty, and the park rangers were really really nice, especially since it was our first time ever going to a state park. The museum in the visitor center was small but cool and educational. I really enjoyed our brief time there.

Wonderful, hilly open space with trails that lead up to 1700’ elevation gain. One can make several loops is one adventures beyond the common destination of Arthur’s rock. Check the CoTrex map before you go as some trails close due to mud. In winter, the little gulch is often icy and not manageable without foot traction (micro spikes).

BEAUTIFUL trail and views. Nice horse riding trails and plenty of space. Not too rocky. Busy with people but not crowded. HOWEVER-RATTLESNAKES!!! Be so careful. They’re all over the trails.

Lory State Park is a great because it has many options for outdoor activities from hiking, to mountain biking, and water activities. The hike to Arthur’s Rock is pretty easy if you’re from here. For a visitor, I’d say it’s moderate. The round trip is about 3.8 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail is well-maintained. The view from the top is worth it. Tip: explore the area to the right of the point where you reach the top. The view is more expansive and no one else was there.

Yelp
I visited Lory State Park for the first time today. Daily admission fee is $10.00 If you have the annual parks pass from registration renewal, there is no need to get a paper pass or placard from the Visitors Center to put in your car or hang on the rear view mirror. Your car license plates are sufficient. Park Rangers will check your plates to ensure you have the annual pass. The gentleman (volunteer) at the Visitors Center shared this information with me. I loved that he had a good sense of humor and was personable. We shared some good laughs together. I recommend going inside the Visitors Center to check out their wildlife display and to get helpful information for your visit to the park. There is also a small gift shop area to purchase books, maps and souvenirs. Staff will give you a free map of the park. There is also public restrooms at the Visitors Center. There is also a nice telescope inside the Visitors Center and a nice viewing deck with historical signage. I always enjoy reading this information for its historical value. I always learn something new. The roads in the park are all dirt so plan ahead for washing your car later. There are various parking lots to park your car before wandering off on trails. There are a lot of lovely views around. Have your camera or phone ready to take those landscape or perhaps wildlife photos. I didn't see any wildlife in the park today. I would've hiked various trails but I've been recovering from some injuries. Next time! I would love to return here. I very much enjoyed my visit to Lory Park. If you haven't been here, visit before the next snowfall! The weather was nice today so I felt fortunate. So glad I stopped here.

Yelp
Lory is a lovely state park that is close to fort collins. If you have a state park pass you can come and go as often as you would like. I believe the current cost of a pass is $90 for a year or $9 for a day pass. however starting in 2023 from what i have seen, the state plans on tacking on a $29 fee to our license plates and then you will get a state park pass. (before the people come that get upset about this, there is supposed to be an option to opt out. though i think it is amazing deal and we should all want to support our state parks) This park has something for everyone from easy to moderate trails, trails available for use by horses and also mountain bikes. People also come out here to snow shoe or cross country ski when conditions allow. They do actively update closures on both facebook and cotrex. So if there has been rain or snow give those sources a look to see what the scoop is. However, arthurs and mill creek do not tend to close. Do not ever leave valuables in the car. Do not hide them. Bring with you anything you care about. Lory unfortunately falls prey to thieves many times and throughout the year. There are not parking lot cameras. The thieves are pros and know what they are doing. They will frequently bust a lock which is not as noticable as a broken window. Please just dont give them anything to take. Do not leave your stuff in the car. If you need your wallet put it in your pack. Or just put a license and credit card in your pack and leave the rest at home. Dont leave your phone in the car or any electronics. Literally do not leave anything of any sort of value in your car. I had someone break into my car once because i left a phone charging cord in view. There was nothing else in my car just that cord. If you do not want to be on a more crowded trail avoid arthurs and wells. Both of those tend to have a lot of people especially on the weekend. Have seen mostly deer out on the trails in this area. One time i did see a big bear out and about though! so you never know what you might come across.

Yelp
Beautiful state park! We did Arthur's rock hike and the views were amazing. We also stopped by the lake but the beach was solely mud. We did the short walk to the waterfalls but due to the drought there was no water. Very pretty still!

Yelp
We enjoyed hike through Lory near Arthur's rock taking about a 3 mile hike along with western ridge of horsetooth reservoir. It was easy hike me enjoyed some light snow and low clouds hugging the mountains and foothills. I have a hiked the Lory area before but enjoyed the red tectonic plates and open meadows. It was easily accessible and had found convenient parking right at the trail head. We saw some mule deer along the way and enjoyed the views high above the reservoir.

Yelp
Great park with variety of trails some wide open some more narrow and challenging. Very clean area with beautiful views. We really enjoyed getting out and hiking about. We went at 730 am on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded though there were a lot of bicyclists and everyone was very polite.

Yelp
This is a beautiful almost untouched state park not far from Ft. Collins. It has beautiful foothills laced with beautiful trees and wildflowers. You see Horsetooth Reservoir in the distance in certain spots. There is no camping, but lovely trails and overlooks. Also, there are great picnic areas. I would recommend for a lovely hike and a picnic on a day trip. The roads are not paved, but totally fine for driving. There is a nice Visitor Center with a real bathroom! We will definitely go back.

Yelp
Lory State Park is a great "quick" getaway from Fort Collins. It's close enough where you can bike to it (if you feel like you can handle some hills), otherwise it is but a short 15 minute drive from downtown Fort Collins. Horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, trail jogging, pretty much anything and everything you would want to do outdoors is available here. Some beautiful views from Athur's Rock feature Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins, and Loveland. Definitely worth a trip!

Yelp
The drive to this location is absolutely breathtaking thanks to Horsetooth Reservoir. I enjoyed every second of it. We drove through the park to hike up to Arthur's Rock. Once we got near the area to check in and park, the roads were not paved and it took awhile to get to the destination. When it was time to start hiking, we were reading the caution signs and we were baffled at some of the instructions about what to do when you encounter a mountain lion... "talk to it", "appear larger", "don't fight it", "but fight it if it attacks", "there has not been sufficient studies to prove if any of this will work"... and immediately I thought welp I'm dead if this ever happens. But other than this hilarious sign, once we got to the top it was a beautiful sight. We stayed for a good 10 minutes to appreciate the view before hiking back down. The hike up wasn't hard, but I was a little paranoid about the mountain lions so once it was time to go down I didn't hesitate to get outta here. I'd go here again but definitely with a larger group and maybe something to defend myself with, haha.

Yelp
The area is beautiful. We visited specifically for the bike park and it needs a lot of work to say the least. They must have under estimated the need for upkeep once they built it. The pump track is non existent anymore as are the two smaller lines of trails, and the biggest set of trails needs a lot of dig time to be any fun. This was a great idea and I hope someone will get the memo that there is continual work to be done when you build a park of this kind. Most of us that ride don't mind doing our part to help maintain if there are tools and water available but the park will have to spend time as well, especially since we have to buy a day pass to ride. For now save your money at least until some work is done

Yelp
Beautiful place to hang out and clear your mind!
