Food was so good and flavourful, margarita was great too. I just couldn’t give a 5 because of the unfriendly service by the lead service lady. I get your table system platform isn’t working but you don’t need to be rude about it when we politely asked with a please if we can order food yet (while having drinks at the bar). Remainder of the Waiting staff were great though.

Google
Worth trying their extensive menu! Lots of veggie options. Was keen to try the cactus taco but not sure why it was on a waffle instead of the taco shell. Staff were lovely but seemed a bit distracted despite it not being very busy (brought out a fish dish we hadn’t ordered but luckily that one we noticed before it was set down). Enjoyed the classic quesadillas, lemonade, and churros. Wasn’t adventurous enough to try the grasshopper sauce!

The flavours that this place is absolutely stunning. Tastes very wholesome and delicious. I will be back more often now that I love it!

Google
Nice fresh simple Mexican food. We had to book ahead, it's always packed so unfortunately not as casual as we'd like. A little on the pricier side ($80 for two) but flavours were nice and fresh. Fish taco is highly recommended. Nice ambiance, great space. Staff were attentive.

A local staple for Brunswick. Be sure to book in advance, you’re lucky to get a walk in. they can take your number and text you as a tables ready - I got in within 5-10min early on a Friday. It’s always busy but I’ve never seen the staff be rude because of it or anything. Always so lovely. All areas are great to sit in: street seating; indoors and alfresco area are all so fun. The food and drinks are consistently good. Plenty of vegan, vego and gf options 🩷🩷🩷 all yum It’

I loved coming here and ordering the Paloma with tacos, empanadas and churros however the last time I came here it took so long to get our order. The churros were forgotten about and the kitchen was closed when we asked how long it would take. We just tried to go there for dinner, booked online only to show up and it’s closed. I know that this has happened before with the crew forgetting to turn off the booking system but this is just disappointing to say the least. Would love to give you guys another go though 🤷‍♀️

Google
Read good reviews about this shop and gave it a try, it is overall better than most Mexican places in Melbourne, as it offers variety of rare dish like cactus mole and sopes 🚗 parking available in side street 👎 I don't find the fish tacos any special. Not to say that it's not good, it is crispy and soft but to me this taco lacks flavor, next time maybe I'd go with the pork tacos for the taste of Mexican. 👍The Cactus mole has much more flavour and definitely taste the mole! No comment on the margaritas as we didn't order any drink. Menu as at 16Jun2023

Google
More like a tapas bar, not a Mexican restaurant. You will not find fajitas or burritos here, but you will find tasty little tacos & quesadillas. They are a small serving, like street food size. Pricey considering the size you get. The lemon, lime & bitters is very sour.

Yelp
I remember coming on a date here a few years ago, so in a way this place does have some good memories about it. Okay, it isn't strictly a restaurant since while you can get food here, it tends to only be finger food (though you can get a couple of filling things here). The one problem with the place was that it happened to be pretty crowded when I decided to visit it again for old times sake, and while there is food available, in the end it is more like a tapas bar.

Yelp
This place is unbelievable claustrophobic. There is double normal capacity, you can't move. Only after they seat you do they bother to tell you that the food and drinks menu is on the wall which we could see once pinned to the wall. The waitress helpfully told us that the menu's on their website... If you can get over getting constantly bumped and squashed into an area which makes you envious of the middle seat of the aeroplane- then you can cope with this... Now with that said, the reason for the 4 stars: the watermelon Margherita was delicious and event bite we tried of the food was awesome and that's what it's about. We had a few differences small dishes (each about $5) and shared everything. The quality of the food was very good and was well cooked with lovely flavours. There was also a surprisingly difference in flavours for Mexican food from dish to dish. Next time I will book a table or wait for one that's not in the front. Because I realised we had the worst seats in the house. The other seats were somewhat more spacious.

Yelp
I would give 5 stars, but I have to take in account that it was very loud inside and quite chaotic at the start. After a day wandering through Melbourne we had to take a few minutes to adjust to the noise and the small space. But the food is worth it! We had the Topotos and Quesedillas to start with, you notice that the ingredients are freshly made because of the authentic look of all the dishes. Next we had quite some tacos; lamb, beef, chicken, battered fish, pulled pork and smokey mushroom. Surprisingly enough our favourite was the smokey mushroom, hands down the best flavour and the most unique one. We didn't like the battered fish in a taco, the batter doesn't really add to the taste. And the beef/pork/chicken/lamb all kind of had the same taste in the end. (A good taste! But nothing really stood out.) Although the food is really cheap (5 - 7$ a dish) and you can try a lot of different things, the main ingredient of our bill was the drinks. Try the Mezcal Margarita (18$) and skip the regular Margarita (14$), both are very good but the Mezcal is just better. We tried the Mojito (12$), it's just like it should be, the real thing! We also tried the Taco beer (8.5$) and off course we had a Corona (7$). It was only at the end that we saw that you could have a jug of Sangria for 15$, we haven't tastest it but it would've cost us a lot less. I would definitely go again and take friends, but I would recommend to make a reservation to get a more spacious table, maybe in the yard. The tables at the front are right under a speaker with music, and the noise drives you crazy. I would definitely try more of the vegetarian options on the menu. (And off course I would try the Sangria...)

Yelp
I remember first hearing of this place opening months ago, but the opening date kept on getting pushed back. After a few failed attempts to get there (doing drive bys only to realise it was closed) I finally got to try Los Hermanos. Now I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb here, but I dare say it does have some of the best tacos in Melbourne. I ordered the mushroom tacos and fish tacos with chipotle sauce and I think it's become my new favourite taco. The flavours were unique, delicious and the sauce just completed a great dish. The staff are all super friendly and happy to recommend dishes for you. We took their advice and went with the cactus salad. Something I've not seen in Melbourne before. A great side dish to go with the tacos. They have a cute little courtyard outside, but I personally prefer inside to enjoy the atmosphere of this awesome taqueria.

Yelp
Really good tacos. Like, really good. Order 3 for about $15 and leave with your tastebuds satisfied, and your tummy full. Their margarita is also really good. The food is well worth braving the spotty, if helpful and nice, service, and the mild burden that is ordering food. We arrived just as things were winding down, but it still took some time for the food to arrive, so plan accordingly. Well worth a visit, and apparently the double cooked beef taco, and the fish taco too, are incredible. UPDATE: I've been here five or six or ten times now since my original review. Happy to say that the quality of the food has stayed just as high, while service has improved drastically. If you're in a large-ish group, you can now get table service, and food is relatively snappy in coming out. The margaritas here are likely to be the best you'll get in Melbourne, and the tequila list bats quite deep and is relatively well priced. Definitely get the mushroom taco, and the quesadilla is amazing, too. The DIY guacamole is a little awkward to make, but the super ripe avocado makes up for it. Definitely get there early (for Melbourne), as the place fills up really quickly. If you've got more than six people you can book a table, otherwise you'll have to jostle with the rest of us plebs.

Yelp
I am not going to muck around with a 'witty' intro like I normally do with my overly verbose reviews. Let's get straight to the point... MARGARITAS. If it's on the drinks menu, I am ordering it. And the Los Hermanos margarita was honestly one of the best I have ever tried. Cold, crisp, and with a hint of tequila in the taste - absolute perfection. Oh, and the food? Also some of the tastiest Mexican I've had. My favourite in Melbourne has long been Mamasita but I think it has finally been toppled by Los Hermanos. The fish taco was a particular standout but we also tried the gorditas, which I'd never had before but will definitely be ordering again. The menu is on the blackboard, which can be a little hard to see if you're sitting in the window. I recommend getting the menu ready on your phone so you can order straight off that. There was also an hour-long wait on the Friday night we went, however the Victoria Hotel is right across the street and a great place to grab a beer while you wait for your table (they'll call you when it's ready.) A definite destination if you are a fan of Mexican cuisine and/or margaritas. Oh... those margaritas.

Yelp
Delicious tacos. bustling atmosphere, kind of just on the side of crowded. Maybe this is why I don't go here so much seeing as it's just down the road. The back courtyard is amazing on a hot summer's day. A little pricey. Yeah I know tacos are supposed to be these tasty little treats, but would it hurt to add a second taco underneath and load them up a little? Then I can pull the second taco out and have '2' and it's more filling cause more corn/taco.... I mean it's great overall but if you are going for dinner and are hungry they don't really satisfy.

Yelp
The tacos here are solid, as one would expect when there is Mexican cook in the kitchen. Service and drinks definitely need some attention Service is disorganised and confusing. We arrived and were informed that we could put our name on a list but that we couldn't trust the staff (!) to be able to spot an empty table and reserve it post haste for us, so were duly advised to "grab a table" if you see it. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where this is a wait list AND a recommended free for all when it comes to tables and was left totally perplexed about the protocol. Los Hermanos desperately needs a hostess on a busy Friday or Saturday night or they need to institute a booking policy. The margarita we ordered was shockingly bad: We watched the bartender make it and he couldn't even be bothered to shake the darn thing. Poor quality tequila and disgustingly sweet, with no balance whatsoever. It was virtually undrinkable. I wasn't a fan of the cactus salad either. It was dull and could have benefited from some spice and a lot more cheese. The tacos are tasty but with more and more Mexican places shooting up each day, it's no longer necessary for Melbournians to settle for the unremarkable when they want to get their taco on. This place has potential but they need to work out the kinks before I'd plan a return visit.

Yelp
Joyful, Joyful is playing in my head right now. There's a full blown gospel choir and everyone is clapping and waving their hands in the air. Rejoice, for we have found Los Hermanos! This place is the tits! It made up for our bad dining experience at another place the night before ten fold! I feel like I can't use enough exclamation points!!! This place gives off a hipster vibe that you just want to be around. It was really busy when we turned up but we managed to get a table out back pretty quickly. They've really crammed as many tables as they possibly can into such a tiny but the atmosphere is so good that you don't mind touching elbows with a stranger. The place is dressed up with just the right amount of Mexicana to not delve into the kitsch realm with a beaded curtain here and a hanging cactus there. Once we were seated the waitress rabbled off the menu and between the 2 of us we ordered guacamole & chips, gorditas and 4 different soft tacos. Guac and gorditas came out first. The idea of assembling your own guac is cute but like I said before there's limited space so it's a little unco scooping out the avo and mixing everything together but once the tasting began we were in heaven. Between us we tried a chicken, pork, fish & zucchini taco. Pork wins at life every time. It can do no wrong. And it was mentioned that the fish taco was freakin' delicious too. But I think what's I'm most excited to return for is the Paloma cocktails. My god! I don't think I've ever, EVER tasted a more delicious cocktail. EVER! I'm pretty sure if I died last night I would have been a happy lady and I'd be very surprised if you didn't feel the same.

Yelp
This place is the cats pyjamas, tacos and flautas are both amazing. Very chilled vibe and usually a lot of fun being had in the garden. Only downside is that if you order guacamole they give you half an avocado and some stuff to go in it to whip up yourself. I was unfussed but it caused my Mexican friend to rage for a decent amount of time.

Yelp
Growing up in California, Mexican culture has always been a big part of my life. And as such, traditional Mexican food has always been one of my all time favourite fares. Since moving to Melbourne in 2011, I had struggled with finding a place that could satisfy my cravings for real authentic Mexican food. Then, I heard about a Taqueria opening in Brunswick, called Los Hermanos. I made the pilgrimage to Brunswick one evening and as soon as I had entered, a calming sense of familiarity washed over me. The decor and atmosphere of the place reminds me of my beloved Taqueria back home. My husband and I ordered the Chicken Tacos, Beef Tacos and shared a plate of Chicken Flautas. We were overjoyed with the incredible flavours that dazzled our senses, and transported us to one of the many Mexican towns we have travelled to over the years. The perfect balance of zesty, spicy and savory. The meats have the most amazing flavours, and I was extremely impressed with the Beef Tacos. In fact, even as I write this and think about the food, my mouth is watering. These are the first tacos I've had in Australia that I can truly say are the real deal. With so many tasty choices on the menu, I am now on a mission to go back again and again just so I can try each dish. And as for service; the staff at Los Hermanos were so friendly and welcoming. I instantly felt right at home. I highly recommend that anyone interested in traditional Mexican food should make the trip to Los Hermanos. Muy Bien!

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Don't be fooled by the casual vibe; the food is brain-meltingly delicious (the mushroom tacos are a particular standout) and the staff are friendly, attentive, and eager to help you enjoy yourself. But the star attraction was our waiter, Oscar, (look for the luxurious moustache!). His enthusiasm, care, wit, and above-and-beyond service really elevated our night to something special. 11/10 (plus one for the moustache!)

Yelp
You don't find great Mexican food everyday in Melbourne... this place easily deserves the 5 star rating!

Yelp
What a cool little spot. Really tasty tacos and big tequila selection. We also had flautas which were like taco-y spring roll-y type things. It was super busy on a Friday night, but when spoken to, the servers were all so friendly, as well as the other people here. Bruno the owner also works on site and gave us/others free tequila shots. At a whim, but it has that kind of hang out/friend vibe despite looking busy/standoffish from afar. I'd def return.

Yelp
Excellent Mexican food, my favourite in Melbourne. I loved the tacos and sopes, not so much the nopales salad. I'll be back.

Yelp
My fav place for Mexican food! I have converted at least 5 of my friends to go here regularly and none of them live any where near Brunswick. The Fish taco is by far the best! Im not a fan of drinking tequila normally either but the cocktails they make are so good I'll drink it ! Good to arrive early as the locals know to get in fast (However if they are full you can put your name down and they will text you when a table is ready). Great for a couple or a little group.

Yelp
Such a little hidden gem! Only would know this is a resturant by word of mouth as it looks like an abandoned shop. Always get in early as it completely fills up. Consistently delicious Mexican food. I recommend the fish tacos hands down.

Yelp
I've been to Los Hermanos a few times and my experiences have differed over the years, this past weekend I've come out of there with a less than favourable opinion on the place. To begin with I've been told many times by staff that they do not take bookings for parties under 4 so you just have to try your luck if you're going with less than that, so Friday night my partner and I got there relatively early (around 7pm) and the place was busy, no staff acknowledged us for a while so we thought it was fine just to find a table that was not reserved... then we were noticed and told to wait to be seated. We were then put in the back courtyard and onto a share table, which was fine but then a couple who came in after us were put on a private two seat table. Wait staff were under pressure so I do understand having to wait to order etc however our entree of guacamole and corn chips came well and truly after our main dish and when it arrived finally (most likely forgotten about) it was a 'do it yourself' style situation with half and avocado and tiny bowls of ingredients, all fine but the bowl next to it had a little bit of made up guacamole already in it with a few cornchips. To be honest it looked as if it was either someone's left overs or they started making it then just stopped and chucked on the rest. Jusut seemed like a quick fix for a mistake they made with our order. The food is always good, the cocktails are delicious but the service and the way things run there is chaotic and you feel although you're a huge pain in the behind for the staff to look after, even right to the payment the staff member was unattentive and quite frankly rude.

Yelp
I do believe this is the closest you can get to Mexico without crossing the equator. Los Hermanos is a simple taqueria, serving tacos, sopes, and flautas. The guacamole is legit - I can say that because I assembled and mixed it myself. Apparently, outsourcing labor onto your diners is a thing these days. Then again, everyone could use a lesson on how to make guacamole and here you will get one. The tacos were bursting with flavor with the fish taco being the real standout. The pork was also fantastic. I thought the size was fair for the price. The flautas were not great, a bit too crispy and the poblano was sparse. . Due to the fact that they don't have menus and the blackboard with the menu listed is pretty much invisible from the tables in the front, we just kinda randomly ordered food, beers, and tequila and hoped for the best. We got very lucky. I will come back when I can sit in a real seat and not on a tiny bench with one cheek hanging off the side. That probably means coming early or late.

Renee T.

Yelp
Food good, service VERY hipster snobby. There is no sign on the building so you just have to guess that it is the right place. We were seated at the bar and told there was nowhere to hang out coats (clearly being cold is so mainstream), then our corn chips and guac were served 'deconstructed' - yep, we had to add the ingredients and scoop out and mash the avocado ourselves. I come to a restaurant for someone else to make me food! We were moved to a 4-person table once it was free but they were the smallest 2-person bench seats I've ever sat on! My husband and I were literally pressed against each other with half a butt cheek hanging off (we're both pretty average sized). Once the tacos arrived they were nice but, honestly, we felt unwelcome the whole time.

Alex L.

Yelp
Don't bother. If you've not had much Mexican food then this place is amazing, otherwise it's totally b-grade. The food is pretty poor quality, fish tacos are made with deep fried fish, the beef and lamb quality is poor. They didn't even know how to make a Michelada drink (they put in ice and salt, and unsqueezed limes inside the glass). The service, menu, and water non existent.

Laura T.

Yelp
Brilliant!! Loved the atmosphere and the food!! The beef taco's... Filling and very tasty!

Tim H.

Yelp
What more do you need? Fast, friendly service and good, delicious, affordable food is a formula all restaurants should aspire to. And they should go to Los Hermanos to get a few tips on how to do it well. Well worth the trip to the off-Sydney Rd location.
