People rave about this place’s mole, so maybe that’s what you should come here to try. Not ordering the mole is probably where I went wrong, but I wasn’t super impressed with the meal my friend and I had here. We actually came inside of this restaurant due to a sudden torrential downpour of rain and hail, so I didn’t have a chance to research what people recommended about the place.
All that said, I wouldn’t rank it as “bad” (I’d give it a 3.3/5), but it just wasn’t at all worth what we paid. We paid about 650 MXN (~$36 USD) for 4 tacos al pastor, 1 torta, 2 beers, and 1 cappuccino. The tacos and the salsa (especially the burnt one) were the stars of our meal, but the meat in both dishes were fairly dry. The torta was all right but had strange additions like chicharron and chile relleno which made it have a textural strangeness and odd mixture of flavors.
Long story short, come for the mole sampler, and avoid tacos/tortas when you’re here. Also be prepared to pay a bit more than what’s reasonable for a decent dinner in Oaxaca.
